Week 3 - Leaving Lockdown Bootcamp

As ever here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I rather suspect, given the confessions/visits by Cathy Twat, that a lot of Bootcampers aren't going to have much luck on the scales at the end of this week.

As I've warned, cheating really won't help - and this is a very unforgiving WOE. I have all my fingers and toes crossed that you will be lucky, and will see a good result on the scales, however. Or with the tape measure - or that you're fitting into your clothes better.

So now you have a choice

After the first two strict weeks of Bootcamp you can, if you wish, move on to Bootcamp Light. This means that you can re-introduce some fruit (mainly berries) and some nuts/seeds, and alcohol in moderation - and restricted to dry wine and clear spirits.

BUT

... you also need to remember/know that weeks 3 & 4 are notorious for seeing little or no weight loss - sometimes you may even see a slight gain.

So it's up to you if you want to relax things.

If you haven't been totally on plan over the last week, I strongly recommend that you stay on strict Bootcamp for another week

If you feel you're ready to move on, then you can go to full-on Bootcamp Light, or you could consider a hybrid - so strict Bootcamp during the week and then Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

Whatever your choice, I hope that week 3 is kind to you!

Please, please, please remember that this week/next week are our infamous 'Doldrums' and so don't be disappointed if you don't see any losses on the scales

This is also another good reason why you should be taking your measurements - the scales might not be moving, but your body shape may well be changing.

Anyway, whatever you decide, good luck! Flowers

Oh StuntNun - I forgot to commiserate with you yesterday. How is it feeling today?

OP posts:
StuntNun · 29/04/2021 13:01

It's much better today thanks BIWI and healing up nicely.

Running. Snort.

Don't want to. Not going to. I have kept up my yoga-every-day habit, alongside the no booze/no fags, for 33 days now. But I'm not committing to anything in the future, or it will all blow up in my psychological face.

Stunt, glad the eye's healing Flowers. I was also terrible horrific at school. My english teacher called me 'Our Guest' since more often than not I walked through the front gates and straight out of the back.

Am now financially secure, upstanding community volunteer, responsible Civil Servant, dutiful daughter, with mortgage, fondness for gardening, and, er, other trappings of tedious grown-up hood. Basically, affection for, and engagement with, school is not necessarily a determinator of future.

Makegoodchoices · 29/04/2021 13:32

@BIWI Closest I ever got to the runners high was when you do enough, often enough, that your legs get ‘antsy’ after a couple of days without a run.

I’ve got a podcast I love, and I’m only allowed to listen to it when I run. It distracts me enough from how my legs/lungs are feeling. However as I’ve found out - I can happily take a month off from it!

debka · 29/04/2021 13:34

@BIWI I did C25K 18 months ago, and have run regularly since. It took a good few months after completing the programme to feel the runner's high, if I'm honest. I run between 3 and 6km, 2-3 times a week at the moment. Try keeping at it: the high might come in time :)

Popping in briefly to agree with everything in this post.

(apart from the yoga and truancy. I famously bunked off school once (and just once) because I hadn't finished my French coursework. I went to the main library in Derby #rebel)

Have been working in Wales, so will come back once I've found out what's wrong with StuntNun's eye...

AthelstaneTheUnready · 29/04/2021 14:12

Hah. I used to hide in corners of department stores, and read Dostoevsky, or Harlan Coben, or Knut Hamsun - all blew my tiny mind. #notasociablechild

B: coffee
L: maybe later
D: roast beef and broccoli in butter

I have been able to grab a load of my beloved unpasteurised Isigny butter. I love that stuff more than oxygen.

BIWI · 29/04/2021 14:12

I'm weighed down heavily by 'Good Girl' syndrome. Made much worse, I think, by the fact that both of my parents taught at my school. So there was no escape!

OP posts:
AthelstaneTheUnready · 29/04/2021 14:19

Oh, there was one occasion I did actually have company - at about 14 I think - we took the train to London and tried on all the wedding hats in Harrods. Fuck knows why.

Poor BIWI. But then it's not a peaceful life having a pathological horror of authority either Grin

BestIsWest · 29/04/2021 14:41

I did C25k about 18 months ago and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately got a bad case of plantar fasciitis and had to stop after week 9 and can’t bring myself to start again. I could never believe That I could run for 30 minute (even if I only ran 2.5k in that time).
Maybe I will give it another go.

I also suffer from ‘good girl’ syndrome. Eldest child with a very naughty little brother is why I think.

TheHoover · 29/04/2021 14:43

Lolling at you lot being shit truants! I am part of your club - bunked off for half a day in the entirety of my education and got bleeding caught!

So this morning I had no time for breakfast and so I thought - against my better judgement - I would try a fabled bulletproof coffee (coconut oil). Utterly rank it was; who on earth thought that one up? Disgusting taste, texture and appearance (although it did make my lips nice and soft).

MrsKoala · 29/04/2021 14:46

Fingers crossed for you @FusionChefGeoff Flowers

I can’t join in the running chat as I loathe running. It’s one of the things I simply can’t understand that anyone tolerates let alone enjoys. I’m a dancer at heart so love classes to music etc, but running, just no Grin

I’m out for lunch tomorrow and this is the menu nothing is really grabbing me from it. Any suggestions welcome.

BIWI · 29/04/2021 14:52

Nice menu @MrsKoala!

I'd go for the Jamon Serrano, (ask for it without the croutons!), followed by the cabbage or the ribeye.

OP posts:
BIWI · 29/04/2021 14:52

... or even the fennel! Plenty of choice there.

OP posts:
BIWI · 29/04/2021 14:52

Sorry - meant 'catch of the day - with fennel'!

MrsBertBibby · 29/04/2021 15:05

Right, my balance physio commands that I get running, so you lot can help get me going. I aim to get out twice a week, ideally.

Angliski · 29/04/2021 15:19

I need to get back to c25k. I’ve done it three times bow over last five years. First time, I ended up doing a 10k race that my cousin enrolled me in. I never thought I could do something like that. It was all the way through the west end too, so a lovely way to see london. Then my dh and I did it before I was pregnant- I remember us running week 3 or so, in th winter, around a lake and I would be constantly complaining about the extreme length of minutes when one is running- well, we used to call it ‘the okd man shuffle’ as we were rather slow! Post preg last year I did it again but then lapsed. Time for a new go!

Oneborneverydecade · 29/04/2021 15:21

Best wishes to everyone with health concerns this week Flowers. I'm glad your eye is better stunt

I only took a couple of photos at Arundel yesterday (at least w/out DD in). The tulips were fantastic, it was just so cold.

Toddler DD and I have been to Guildford today so I could try on smaller clothes that I can't afford to buy. I did buy these £98 down to £39 Rupert the Bear trousers in Anthropologie

Oneborneverydecade · 29/04/2021 15:24

£29 ffs!

biwi my favourite part of running is definitely when we arrive home. I know I wouldn't still be doing it if it wasn't for DH as coach. I'm keen to get to the same point as debka.

Forgot to say stuntnun my DS's school report and virtual parents evening were shocking.

nowlook · 29/04/2021 15:30

Oh, but would you look at her @Oneborneverydecade! How wonderful to see a girl without glittery unicorns Grin

Trews looks great. Are you tall? Envy

Jellycatspyjamas · 29/04/2021 15:55

Nice trousers and what a bargain.

I’ve never got park week 3 in C25K, I like running after I’ve done it but at the time it’s hell. I do dream of being one of those gazelle legged, effortless runners but I’m more like a cross between a sloth and an elephant. Maybe try again when I’ve lost a bit more weight.

Food tiday

L. Bacon and scrambled eggs with mushrooms
D. Bolognese with broccoli and hidden veg for the kids

About to have a creamy coffee for afternoon break.

Lots of stroppiness in the Jellycat house this week - trying to part my daughter from her iPad is like climbing Everest in flip flops, trying unsuccessfully not to get in a fight with her - and she’s nearly 10 and hormones have started kicking in so everything is the end of the world. Combine with a menopausal mum and it’s a very fractious house at the moment. must not comfort eat chocolate

FinallyHere · 29/04/2021 16:09

@ChoosandChipsandSealingWax

working until 1am last night and up at 5am hope that's just short term. Well done on making good choices throughout.

@StuntNun ouch. Hope the eye is getting better.

@FusionChefGeoff 💐 and a hand hold

Thank you @BIWI @StuntNun @AthelstaneTheUnready for this marvellous resource esp the updated carb counts

@venusandmars. Lovely holiday

Loving the truant stories. And the runners.

With thanks to you lovely people I dragged my weary bones out for a walk instead of commute this morning. Wish I could say it was lovely but I did see a few people to say hello to, which is always a good day.

Very unusually On site tomorrow so shall count the walking round campus following the one way system. Saturday and Sunday walks arranged so Bank Holiday Monday will be the next test of my resolve.

And shall KOKO you lovely people

Oh , food, nearly forgot. 3.5l water ok. So looking forward to loosing enough inches to make it worth weighing myself so I can get into the 3l water band

Last night two chicken thighs (cooked three but was honestly full so one left over for today). Skinless and boneless as DH prefers, dusted with garlic powder, salt and pepper and fried in butter and a few lumps of chorizo even DH (the cook in this house) said they looked good snd is keen to try them himself today. With spinach snd butter plus broccoli /cauliflower in butter/creme with Parmesan microwaved then grilled. Delicious but touch of underestimate threatened so shall make more effort to have two smaller meals in future.

FinallyHere · 29/04/2021 16:15

Oh @Jellycatspyjamas

Combine with a menopausal mum

I'm so sorry for all the grief I gave my DM in my early team years but we were all sorted snd closer than ever a few years later.

I gather her mantra was 'this phase will pass'. It will get better xx

ditavonteesed · 29/04/2021 16:32

Morning/evening whatever. I've read all the thread but without making actual notes I'm not going to be able to catch up properly, sorry. I'm trying.

@StuntNun glad your eye is better, sounds sore.
@nowlook wow sets that dress is amazing, you can defintly wear it on the school run.

Those trousers are amazing, I love a good check.

I have a none scale victory to report today, ages ago 2 of my colleagues gave me uniforms, one fitted me and one were too small, today is the day that the too small are getting worn to work. I honestly never thought I would get to this point and I am so grateful to @BIWI and everyone else. Thank you.

Oneborneverydecade · 29/04/2021 16:52

Argh just had a huge row with DS14. I REALLY lost my temper. The trouble is if I rowed the same way in front of DS9 and DD3 with a man I'd leave him, because it wouldn't be fair on them
