Week 3 - Leaving Lockdown Bootcamp

As ever here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I rather suspect, given the confessions/visits by Cathy Twat, that a lot of Bootcampers aren't going to have much luck on the scales at the end of this week.

As I've warned, cheating really won't help - and this is a very unforgiving WOE. I have all my fingers and toes crossed that you will be lucky, and will see a good result on the scales, however. Or with the tape measure - or that you're fitting into your clothes better.

So now you have a choice

After the first two strict weeks of Bootcamp you can, if you wish, move on to Bootcamp Light. This means that you can re-introduce some fruit (mainly berries) and some nuts/seeds, and alcohol in moderation - and restricted to dry wine and clear spirits.

BUT

... you also need to remember/know that weeks 3 & 4 are notorious for seeing little or no weight loss - sometimes you may even see a slight gain.

So it's up to you if you want to relax things.

If you haven't been totally on plan over the last week, I strongly recommend that you stay on strict Bootcamp for another week

If you feel you're ready to move on, then you can go to full-on Bootcamp Light, or you could consider a hybrid - so strict Bootcamp during the week and then Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

Whatever your choice, I hope that week 3 is kind to you!

Please, please, please remember that this week/next week are our infamous 'Doldrums' and so don't be disappointed if you don't see any losses on the scales

This is also another good reason why you should be taking your measurements - the scales might not be moving, but your body shape may well be changing.

Anyway, whatever you decide, good luck! Flowers

Move it May sounds good. I need to get back into a better routine with stretches etc my osteopath gave me... they're just so boring 😴

Amazingly the function in my son's legs returned an hour ago 😁😁😁 it comes and goes (mostly goes) and v unusual to get function back midweek in term time (school stress exacerbates things) so that's really encouraging and he's so happy 😍

colouringindoors · 28/04/2021 17:47

mrskoala that's fab! i dare you to wear it on the school run 😅

I've jyst been browsing t'internet looking for a "f$%k you" (directed towards ex) dress to wear for my 50th. Want something fairly casual that i won't just wear once, but something a bit more interesting/funky/creative than my usual.... don't think I'm brave enough for the Style boards though!

colouringindoors · 28/04/2021 17:50

bestbees thanks. The state of mental health services in this country makes me sad, and mad. When ex was psychotic and really really ill, like a stereotype mad person, there were no mental health beds in whole of south east england. Without a bed, someone can't be treated either.

Well done on the kids veg! Such brilliant eating patterns you're setting them in 😁

Stokey · 28/04/2021 18:27

@colouringindoors I quite like Hush but may be too casual for a big occasion. Otherwise the Outnet can have some good designer bargains if you want to spend a bit for something special. I've spent a lot of time on the S&B boards! What's your style, maybe we can help you?

Sad to hear the various stories about mental health, one of my closest friends has struggled with depression since we were teenagers and I do look back and think how uneducated we were about it then. At least understanding has grown over the last decade or so despite the disgraceful cuts to the MH budget.

I've found today harder. I think the rain here and cold and being busy at work and tired have all had an effect, but still persevering. I've found it harder to drink water today but have had 4 cups of herbal tea so hope that makes up (& will get my 2l in).

B- Greek yogurt with vanilla - thanks for the tip @prettybird, this was delicious
L - half avocado, mozzarella, few cherry tomatoes, olives and salad.
Snack - boiled egg
S - Tuna steak, broccoli & spinach

MrsKoala · 28/04/2021 18:41

Colouring thanks, the pic doesn’t quite do it justice but the bodice bit is completely see through with silver embroidery all over just getting more dense over the boobage. I think I may be arrested if I wore it on the school run. I need to invest in some toupe tape to anchor it down otherwise if I lean forward I fall out. What type of dress are you looking for? What shape are you? I second the Outnet and Brandalley for cheaper designer clobber. I think wrap dresses are universally flattering and they often have Diane Von Furstenberg sales (I have a few myself) which come in funky fabrics and can be dressed up or down. Or if you are looking for more formal/sexy/wiggly there is the DvF Bentley dress (which I also own 2 of Blush )

prettybird · 28/04/2021 18:46

I've seen some interesting stuff in The Fold, which I discovered via the Parisiennes de Mumsnet Style & Beauty threads. But it might be a bit conventional for you Wink - plus I don't know what your budget is.

Anyway, I don't have any reason to buy anything from it anyway, as I'm not currently working Wink

Pleaseandthankyou · 28/04/2021 18:56

@pinkpinkeverywhere I don’t have a proper recipe for veg curry but this is what I like. Toss cauliflower, broccoli (sweet potato or butternut squash when not on bootcamp) in olive oil and roast in a hot oven for 30mins approx. Heat more oil in a frying pan and add roughly diced leek, cougette, aubergine etc. Fry slowly until soft. Add some chopped tomatoes. Then stir in 1 teaspoon of each of the following turmeric, garlic powder, ground ginger or fresh, ground coriander, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon. Then add 2 or more teaspoons of madras curry powder. It depends how hot you like it. Stir in the roasted cauliflower and broccoli. Add two tablespoons of Greek yoghurt and mix well. It is even better the next day. I use yoghurt as I am the only one who eats it and otherwise I end up throwing it out. Sometimes I also add green beans and spinach.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 28/04/2021 18:58

My god, your boobs are fabulous MrsK! Shock

boob envy here now

I'm not going to announce any May intentions, as unlike previous posters' psychologies, as soon as I say I've decided to do something, I chuck it all in and do exactly the opposite. If I keep it quiet, it's much easier.

on day 32 now of the combined no booze/no fags

Pleased to say AthelCat is responding a bit to steroids and has actually eaten something semi-solid! As if by magic, my appetite has returned too. Will be raiding the fridge for celebratory salami, brie, cucumber, stuffed pepper, lettuce, fancy plate of stuff. Followed by yoghurt I think.

Timetobuckup · 28/04/2021 19:25

@colouringindoors
What mixed feelings that must bring . Fingers crossed this time the movement in your son's legs is long lived.
Mental Health services are the bane of my life. My pastoral role is supposed to be someone who nurtures and supports while signposting to actual services. The reality is very different.

Love the dress @mrskoala is it weird that I thought 'bloody lovely calves she has Grin'

Well done on the stillnot smoking and drinking @AthelstaneTheUnready that is very impressive.

Hello to all , I am reading everything but don't get much of a chance to pop on other than both ends of the day .

Rshard · 28/04/2021 19:26

Was going to say the same athlestane about mrskoala’s boobs. Dress is beautiful. Glad to hear a positive update about your cat too. Dress is gorgeous.

Timetobuckup · 28/04/2021 19:28

Well @AthelstaneTheUnready has made me feel better about the lovely calves comment Grin @mrskoala

colouringindoors · 28/04/2021 19:55

Thanks Stokey I like some of the Hush dresses but they do look like they would look better on taller women than me! (5'2)

Don't want too dressy/formal. Not sure I can buy now as am hoping I'll be a stone lighter by end June, but very nice to look!

I find it all harder on grey days too. Well done on the drinking. I must go and get more water down...

Tickledtrout · 28/04/2021 20:02

Did a version of this for family tonight - replaced potato with cauliflower and some button mushrooms. Quite nice but I used salmon fillets that were a tad overcooked (dry) as a result

Loving all the glamour and dress talk. Hair cut booked for tomorrowSmile

colouringindoors · 28/04/2021 20:04

I have this dress in Navy and it's v flattering, but it was bought second hand and is knackered. But style is good for a short pear shape and I feel good in it.

colouringindoors · 28/04/2021 20:06

max £100.

Some stunning dresses on The Fold but sadly but too ££

Rayna37 · 28/04/2021 20:22

Loving the style and beauty additions! I'm attempting an no new clothes year but obviously my will has not really been put to the test yet! It will probably just mean I buy more next year but I am a fewer/better clothes shopper and find it helps not to jump on impulse. I always try on first though, not one for internet clothes shopping. Also a fairly consistent size, the stone (max) that I gain or lose eternally just occasionally takes a few items out of action but I have a pretty solid wardrobe.

Hair done today, whoop! My highlights (balayage?) are relatively subtle and greys only at the very earliest of days so the colour wasn't desperate but so happy for a good chop!

Today:
2egg cheese chive omelette
A couple of handfuls of Roasted peanuts mid morning
HM coleslaw, about half a chicken breast, few toms and lettuce for lunch plus yogurt
Sea bass, kale and buttery leeks for dinner plus 175ml so far of Shiraz. Fish was in coriander line and chilli, v nice.

StuntNun · 28/04/2021 20:33

A bit of a dodgy food day today courtesy of a damaged cornea and having to go to A&E. I'm not quite sure how I managed to do it t myself but I have to go back to a different A&E tomorrow to get checked out by an ophthalmologist.
B: none as usual 16:8.
L: none as at A&E face-to-face with a vending machine full of carbs. Jeez would it hurt to put some peanuts or something in there?
Snack: two almond-cheese muffins with lots of butter plus two chocolates that DH bought me to cheer me up.
D: chicken kiev (18g carbs but one of the few foods that all four DCs will eat so worth the carb hit) and mushrooms in butter and cream sauce.
Now relaxing in the bath with a glass of wine trying to relax my poor sore eye.

So not a great food day, especially regarding vegetables do almonds count lol? but not as bad as it might have been either so I'm cautiously chalking up a win.

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 28/04/2021 20:39

Flowers for @colouringindoors too, here’s hoping the improvement stays.

And good news on Athelcat it’s so hard when they’re ill.

@prettybird keep aspiring, maybe it’s Makeover May too? Grin sounds like @Rayna37 is ahead of us on the hair front. I cut my own, (badly) but not really been bothered lately.

@MrsKoala bloody hell your figure is lovely! Love your legs! and norks ConfusedBlush

I’ll stuck to posting pics of beerydog. And maybe the parrot 😂

blackbettybramblejam · 28/04/2021 20:44

I’m still here 🙋‍♀️ KOKO but completely snowed under with work and children and everything but I’m loving this boot camp, I think working so much and having very set meal times is really helping.

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 28/04/2021 20:45

Love that John Lewis one @colouringindoors. Fab colour too.

@StuntNun sounds like you swerved the worst of it, Pam Choi should wage war on hospital vending machines. Bearing your username in mind I confess to wondering exactly how you came to scratch your own cornea tho...
Would a cold flannel on it help calm it down?

does anyone still use flannels?!

StuntNun · 28/04/2021 20:52

Flannel has been employed to great relief but the best bit was when the nurse at A&E put local anaesthetic eye drops in my eye even if they did stain my face bright orange, thank heavens for face masks! I suspect it's as trivial as got something in my eye, rubbed my eye, scratched my cornea. It's pretty painful though and I'm feeling very sorry for myself. I'm hoping I'll be back at full fighting strength soon.

MrsKoala · 28/04/2021 20:52

Awww thanks for all the nice comments, but some of you may remember my boobs aren’t natural, so I’m massively cheating there. The asymmetry surgery has settled well and my left one which was an a cup is now a d like my right one. It’s so nice being able to buy 36d bras now and actually fit them. First time in my life I’ve been able to buy proper underwear!

@Timetobuckup my calves are a real problem with finding trousers and boots because they are huge. It’s the main problem with this woe, I am now a size 12 and my calves are most definitely not. Even bootcut trousers are like skinny jeans and I can’t get my legs in straight cut at all let alone skinny.

MrsKoala · 28/04/2021 20:57

Oh no Stuntnun. Your poor eye. Having eye pain is so irritating, you can’t distract yourself or forget about it as it’s literally right there on your face and everywhere you look. Hope it heals soon.
