Week 3 - Leaving Lockdown Bootcamp

As ever here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I rather suspect, given the confessions/visits by Cathy Twat, that a lot of Bootcampers aren't going to have much luck on the scales at the end of this week.

As I've warned, cheating really won't help - and this is a very unforgiving WOE. I have all my fingers and toes crossed that you will be lucky, and will see a good result on the scales, however. Or with the tape measure - or that you're fitting into your clothes better.

So now you have a choice

After the first two strict weeks of Bootcamp you can, if you wish, move on to Bootcamp Light. This means that you can re-introduce some fruit (mainly berries) and some nuts/seeds, and alcohol in moderation - and restricted to dry wine and clear spirits.

BUT

... you also need to remember/know that weeks 3 & 4 are notorious for seeing little or no weight loss - sometimes you may even see a slight gain.

So it's up to you if you want to relax things.

If you haven't been totally on plan over the last week, I strongly recommend that you stay on strict Bootcamp for another week

If you feel you're ready to move on, then you can go to full-on Bootcamp Light, or you could consider a hybrid - so strict Bootcamp during the week and then Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

Whatever your choice, I hope that week 3 is kind to you!

Please, please, please remember that this week/next week are our infamous 'Doldrums' and so don't be disappointed if you don't see any losses on the scales

This is also another good reason why you should be taking your measurements - the scales might not be moving, but your body shape may well be changing.

Anyway, whatever you decide, good luck! Flowers

@coluringindoors. Sorry about your news. Hope you are ok.

Bestbees · 27/04/2021 19:13

@colouringindoors Flowers

@Angliski have you tried carb/calorie counting for a bit? Remind me how long you have been doing this and how much you have to lose?

nowlook · 27/04/2021 19:31

So sorry @colouringindoors. Hope you have a way forward Flowers

Rshard · 27/04/2021 19:35

Thinking of you colouring Flowers

Timetobuckup · 27/04/2021 19:38

@colouringindoors I'm sorry to hear that.
I hope things look up .....

I am so far loving this WOE and I really really want to lose loads of weight but I didnt expect to feel so much better.
This is the longest I have probably ever gone without snacks and crisps and bread.

So I am definitely going to KOKO

colouringindoors · 27/04/2021 19:42

Thank you so much xx Best outcome would have been spinal surgery. Am in constant, severe pain which the v good and decent surgeon is pretty certain is a result of nerve damage. Latest MRI showed no physical cause (slipped disc fixed itself eventually). One last investigation to be 100% but I could literally see it in his face. Lifted my ds' wheelchair badly last June. He needs it as ex's (his dad) severe unmanaged bipolar caused ptsd so bad it made ds' legs stop working. I really, really hate my ex.

Stokey · 27/04/2021 19:46

Thanks for all the welcomes. I will try and add myself to the spreadsheet.

I do think the snacking is boredom or tiredness rather than hunger. The time I'm weakest is always just when the DC have come back from school but I still have a couple of hours of work left. Even in the office, this was when I would hit the chocolate machine. Hoping that this WOE will break it so I will try the no snack challenge @Bestbees.

@Angliski I'm pescatarian & one of the things that drew me to this was all the veggie recipes - there's 200 on the veg low carb thread. I think I will miss lentils & pulses though but can see the logic.

@Chunkymonkey123 thanks for the podcast link, I listened to half of it on my evening walk and it was really interesting. I had to go caffeine free last year because of migraines. I now have Pukka Feel New in the morning which is fennel and cardomom and Pukka Revitalise in the afternoon which is cinnamon and ginger.

How often do you weigh & measure? Weekly or more? Sorry I'm probably going to have lots of questions.

Stokey · 27/04/2021 19:48

@colouringindoors Flowers that sounds awful, how stressful for you.

nowlook · 27/04/2021 20:07

Crikey @colouringindoors, that sounds dreadful for you. Your poor DS too Sad

I typed a long post to you @Angliski and managed to lose it Angry.

Coming from a place of good intent and very much wishing you well, do you have the mental bandwidth to be doing BC at the moment? I know you're used to doing everything at full tilt, but you have fairly huge fish to fry at the moment, don't you?

With that in mind, you can see if you look back that you've gone off plan every week. Lentil soup in week one; spring roll in week two; bruschetta crisps today.

You've done low carb before, so you know how unforgiving it is. I can quite imagine how you don't even notice the additional carbs because of everything else you're juggling. But they're probably there.

My suggestion would be to either:

(a) try uber bootcamp for a week (menus on the spready) with all the water and cutting out any lingering dairy in tea etc and see what happens;
(b) accept that if you're going to have slightly more carbs, weight loss will be slower, but not non-existent (you have lost 1.5lbs); or
(c) cut yourself some slack in the lead up to your appointment (and, again, I wish you all the love and luck in the world for that)

Keep talking!

Bestbees · 27/04/2021 20:15

@colouringindoors that sounds awful. Just sending so many good wishes your way. And respect to you for putting one foot in front of the other with all the going on. Flowers

nowlook · 27/04/2021 20:20

Jesus, Mary, Joseph and the wee donkey @Stokey, don't play with the spreadsheet yet! Wink Grin

@AthelstaneTheUnready will add you 'cos she's nice like that.

I weigh weekly now, but didn't weigh at all last bootcamp because I knew the number would throw me into a spin. Some weigh daily; some go by their measurements alone. Whatever works for you.

So glad you're finding inspiration in the vege recipe thread!

nowlook · 27/04/2021 20:23

@ditavonteesed

I've discovered a massive down side to losing weight, I took dd shopping and spent an absolute fortune in myself because she told me to try things on and they all looked so good. I'm not used to trying things on and feeling happy. Shopping has always been a very sad experience. Hmmm might need to do some overtime.
I missed this earlier dita. What did you buy? Any keepers?
Stokey · 27/04/2021 20:24

Oh no I added myself Blush argggh first faux pas!

nowlook · 27/04/2021 20:28

@Stokey

Oh no I added myself Blush argggh first faux pas!
Not at all! You've done well to add yourself unless you've also destroyed the spreadsheet No-one else has managed to do it!

You must be of a technical persuasion Grin

Random789 · 27/04/2021 20:32

Lots of love to you, colouringindoors. Sorry things are so tough.

ElasticFirecracker · 27/04/2021 20:39

Today's food

B: smoked salmon, cream cheese and watercress.

L cheese crackers & artichoke hearts in oil

D: salad Nicoise

All the water

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 27/04/2021 20:51

Sorry you're having such a hard time if it @colouringindoors!

@ditavonteesed lucky you, can't wait to buy my goal weight wardrobe, have a feeling my credit card will be worn out by the time I'm done 😂

Anyone on here knowledgeable about exercise damage and water retention?

I did a stupid thing and signed up for a 5K jog then forgot to actually practice and train for it, stubbornness forced me to jog the whole 5K on Saturday because I'd been sponsored so I was doing it goddamn it! Well it was painful, there was cramping calves, shin splints and I've been hobbling ever since. My weight went up 6lb between Saturday and Monday, could this be water retention due to muscle damage or am I grasping at straws???

Random789 · 27/04/2021 20:52

B: Coffee with dash of cream; 2 boiled eggs mashed in butter
L: 1 boiled egg. And a salad of tomatoes, lettuce, crumbled chees and vinagrette.
D: 2 skin-on chicken thighs, fried in olive oil with teaspoon of mascarpone stirred in at the end. Mountain of cauliflower.

Coffee with almond milk.

ditavonteesed · 27/04/2021 21:18

@colouringindoors so sorry for your news hope they can at least sort your pain out.

@nowlook I got 2 dresses from urban outfitters. Very summery, want to go out somewhere to wear them. This is on top of the boiler suit (pic) skinny jeans, top and dress I bought last week. I'm out of control. Even DH is encouraging me though so I don't feel too guilty. Also I have no clothes what I actually need to buy are normal everyday clothes but I keep getting drawn in by fabulous things.

@Moonswimmer that is incredible, well done.

Welcome to all the newbies and Thanks to those having a hard time.

I am also struggling with cravings and sweet things. I knew this was bloody going to happen. I have a 3 month tolerance for any diet/WOE. I can stick to anything for 3 months, even mega low calorie, but it's just like a switch flips and I can't be arsed any more. I feel like I've had the whole of
April off plan. It hasn't been a disaster, I'm no heavier than I was at the start of the month, but I haven't had the losses that I should have. Had a lot of social stuff happening, 2 birthdays including my own and 2 weeks of annual leave but we are all back to normal this week and I still can't get myself back to it. I need to get my arse in gear. Have such a long way to go. No more excuses.

Tickledtrout · 27/04/2021 21:32

Sorry to hear you have bad news @colouringindoorsand.
@Angliski maybe just hang around for the positivity and as others have suggested find good quality, nourishing food that works for you. The thought of fatty duck, lamb and pork makes me green tbh but I can happily scoff avocado, butter, mayo and oily fish. And too much cheese. I've also done well in the past on a lowish carb, Mediterranean diet including pulses and calorie counted; a kind of slower1300 if you like.
Managed to get a standby swim slot tonight. Something other than a walk after work. What a treat!

nowlook · 27/04/2021 21:44

What a glorious colour on you dita! Shag would be proud. Sounds like DH and DD are too.

colouringindoors · 27/04/2021 21:51

You lot are lovely 💕

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 27/04/2021 22:26

Popping in whilst catching up, trying not to miss anybody!

@Moonswimmer that’s amazing, well done and hope you feel suitably elated!

@Random789 oh such beautiful birds! I have an orange winged Amazon here, will try and get a decent pic. He’s either camera shy or a total tart, depends on his mood 🤷🏻‍♀️

@prettybird awesome, you’ll need an ‘extra small’ belt before you know it Envy < yes, that is envy 😂

@MrsKoala awww that’s not an assassin, that’s a little ball of floof. An adorable little ball of floof Grin

I’ll try and post a pic of Beerydog3...I still call him that even though we lost Beerydog1 and 2 during the first lockdown Sad

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 27/04/2021 22:29

Hope this works, never tried posting pics before.
