Sunday night here is games night, so better that I start the thread now, before I forget as I've gone to bed so late!

I truly hope that this link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness works!

Apologies if it doesn't, but hopefully someone will come and post a working one if it doesn't!

I love week 2, as for those who haven't low carbed before the results are often spectacularly incredible!

But even for those of us who are more used to low carbing, hopefully this first week has seen you make a good start.

It's looking like some warmer weather is heading our way, which always makes things seem more positive - but also focuses our minds on things like skimpier clothing, so hopefully will help to keep us toeing the line!

I hope the scales have rewarded your hard work, and here's to a good week ahead Flowers

You did bestbees thank you!

BSky · 20/04/2021 21:54

Love the breadth of sharing tips & info on this thread!

I’m looking for some new recipes - vegan low carb. Quite like the sound of this spinach, aubergine & chickpea curry.
Recipe says 8.3g carbs but I thought chickpeas were much higher carb?

@TheHoover you'll have to let us know how the coconut yoghurt works out, I love coyo but can't stand the price.

Angliski · 20/04/2021 22:09

@MrsKoala I like adding steamed fish to a frittata or scramble. Also could add to tomato sauce and serve on cauli rice or maybe to coconut and spices and go for a curry?

Excitingly, we went to eat sashimi at lunchtime! I was giddy with excitement at not eating my own grub!

Break- two boiled eggs with butter
Lunch- salmon and tuna sashimi edamame and 3 ribs
Dinner- butternut squash parmigiana and one tuna steak with a big green salad and soya dressing

ouchmyfeet · 20/04/2021 22:16

@ZiggZagg Thanks

An exciting week for me!

Tomorrow I'm going to the pub with two friends for lunch - yay!
Thursday I'm having my second vaccine - double yay!
Friday I'm having my hair cut and coloured (last appointment was 30 November, so it's seriously overdue)
... and then on Sunday, we have lunch booked at the pub again for me, DH, DS1 and DS2, who we haven't been able to see because of lockdown.

All the yays!

@ZiggZagg Flowers

Love all the eyebrow pictures! Really tempted, but afraid they won’t do such a good job on me.

Breakfast: omelet cup
Lunch: green salad with sundries tomatoes, mozzarella, and roast chicken, oil and vinegar
Dinner: low carb sausages and peas ( peas not great, but better than mash or Heinz baked beans like husband and children were having)

Finding it difficult to eat enough meat and fat to stay full.

colouringindoors · 21/04/2021 00:04

grrrr pms has got the better of me Sad

FinallyHere · 21/04/2021 06:34

Bit of a strange day yesterday, mad busy at work, last day before the holidays. Drank lots well 3.5l water but no food till 6pm-ish

B - water
L - water
D - leftover DH's Chicken Alfredo, delicious with spinach / butter/ nutmeg. It's wasn't a very large portion so I reasoned I would need more food but ate that to satisfy any hunger while I decided what to eat. I enjoyed it very much but then got distracted looking for an old recipe for green beans with French dressing

Then I reasoned I could have whatever I fancied for breakfast. It's breakfast time the next day now and I'm not particularly hungry.

Wow for this WOE.

FinallyHere · 21/04/2021 06:36

@colouringindoors oh I'm so sorry, I've just read your post again.

How are you feeling now? Are you ready to draw a line and get back to it?

StuntNun · 21/04/2021 06:47

TheHoover here's my recipe for coconut yogurt. I've since discovered that proper yogurt starters work better than using bought yogurt as a starter then you can serially culture from batch to batch.

@BIWI it is so nice to have things booked in isn't it ?

After all the tulip talk I have booked tickets for Arundel .

I have got training all day over zoom which will be a break from the madness at school .

@colouringindoors I hope you manage to draw a line under it and feel better today.

TheHoover · 21/04/2021 07:05

Eyebrow tattoos fade very slowly mrskoala - touch ups every 9-12 months are required if your eyebrows are dark.

Oh heck stuntnun I didn’t realise a recipe & slow cooker was needed; I was just hoping to bung the probiotics in the coconut milk and stick it somewhere warm! Hmm may need to do some reading into the sciency stuff.

Oh and thank you once again (and to others) for all the insight into gut inflammation which I did not understand at all previously; I am having a huge eczema flare up after 2 days of no milk/eggs and would have abandoned had I not understood the delayed effect/ necessity to heal the gut. Such a fountain of wisdom you all are.

Oneborneverydecade · 21/04/2021 07:07

@colouringindoors I had a shocking day yesterday and I don't even have the excuse of pms. Up 1.5lb since Monday. But today is a new day, a fresh start

Lovely photos yesterday. I'm in @VeryLittleOwl 's camp in that I rarely wear make up. My eyebrows are still the same shape as when I overplucked them in the 90s. I wish my boobs were the same shape as they were then too

Random789 · 21/04/2021 07:11

Forgot to post yesterday's meals:
B: two boiled eggs mashed with butter, cup of white coffee
L: tin of sardines in chilli, fried with shitake mushrooms
D: two lamb chops fried with courgette; spinich leaves and tomato with vinegar/oil dressing and a little bit of finely crumbled stilton
1 cup cocoa with small top-up of full fat milk and spoonful of cream

Oneborneverydecade · 21/04/2021 07:15

@BIWI your week sounds fab

DD turns 3 on Monday and I'll have a (tiny) tea party on Sunday and something on Monday to navigate. I really want to buy her a bday cake as I know I won't be tempted by shop bought - DH wants to make one

debka · 21/04/2021 07:17

Good morning all.
This eyebrow thing is a mystery to me- I've never paid my eyebrows any thought at all. I get a bit surprised by the sharpie-esque ones occasionally, but otherwise I don't really notice anyone's eyebrows.
Busy day yesterday with a job interview at the end of it, but lovely DP cooked me a beautiful steak with broccoli and lots of butter. I enjoyed mine much more than I would have his, which had chips instead of the broccoli.
My long day at work today (8-8).
B- eggs and butter
L- Greek yogurt with cream and walnuts
D- leftover Bolognese with green veg and cheese
Feeling a bit constipated as I often do on this WOE- anyone else?

Bestbees · 21/04/2021 07:23

@colouringindoors don't be disheartened just get back on it today. I find it is helpful to allow myself pretty much unlimited low carb food if I feel like it, without feeling bad. So I might eat masses of ham, cheese, olives, yog, crudite and cheese dip etc. That helps me not get too derailed.

Plan for today:
B I felt hungry this morning so have had a random bit of ham rolled up with mayo and mangetout and a chunk of cheese.

L courgetti with tuna, a mix of dressing and mayo and black olives.

D venison grill steaks with celeriac chips and salad.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Bestbees · 21/04/2021 07:26

@debka I did on my first boot camp. It did settle. What helped was really going for it with the flgv like say half a savoy cabbage at a time. Also I tried to have a tomato type dish if it was bad as that seemed to help a bit. Make sure you drink a lot of water, I find black coffee can help too. Doing some squats can also help I find, or a morning run!

Thank you to whoever posted the blood sugar article previously BTW. We are now working on going out for a walk after dinner as a family, and putting cinnamon on out yoghurt. Every little helps!

MrsBertBibby · 21/04/2021 07:27

Morning all!

Yesterday :
B: scrambled eggs
L: leaves, fried mushies, fried halloumi
D: omelette with cheese mushies and spinach

Loads of black tea, black rooibos and water.

Random789 · 21/04/2021 07:28

Sorry to double post, I just wanted to express a feeling that I ate rather a lot yesterday, perhaps too much, because I was very hungry. In fact I forgot to say in my last post that I made two fridge-stops during the morning to get a generous teaspoonfull of mascarpone, which I licked from the spoon like it was an ice cream cone.

However, my hunger was very different from the Bad Days -- genuine appetite not craving, plus an exhausted sensation of being properly out of fuel. Povided I ate reasonably mindfully I could feel the satiation kicking in at the 'right' time.
I think I need loads of practice in eating reasonably generously and noticing all the signs in my body that tell me it was the right and healthy thing to do. It is so tempting to aim at significant undereating, just to reassure yourself that you haven't eaten too much -- and that approach isn't sustainable of course, in the long term.

Random789 · 21/04/2021 07:32

Oh my goodness, debka , greek yoghurt with cream and walnuts! That sounds delicious. I think I will try that next week. Am casting around for ideas for treat-y puddings.

MrsBertBibby · 21/04/2021 07:32

My eyebrows escaped the ravages of days gone by, as I never really knew what I was meant to do. I have only ever tweezed a few wanderers from below on the outer edges, and in the middle. But they do seem to be thinner now than they were in my youth.

MrsBertBibby · 21/04/2021 07:35

Aww, my other half took care of the remaining Lindt salted caramel last night because it was luring me. There's love.
