Morning all.

[[Here's the Spreadsheet as always
docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18CKhdQ3FlGz_8H53AA2Pqm4xmvGLHO6vBrkNWCkSO48/edit#gid=788946144 ]]

I hope everyone had a good week, and that any Mother's Day treats haven't messed things up too much Grin

So we enter our final two weeks. Still time to shift a couple of those pesky pounds - especially if you keep focused and stay strict. And a reminder, channelling my inner Shag, WATER, WATER, WATER!

MrsOmelette having thought again I wonder if I misread your post. When you say ‘larger lady’ are you referring to general back size or to a large cup size?

If the breasts are not huge then you might very well be fine on a basic strapless rather than bustier.

If it’s the latter, have a look at this link. It’s an American site but goes through a list of options. Some of the brands might be available in Europe/UK as well.

Regardless, the general advice is to go for a smaller back size and larger cup size than normal when wearing a strapless, as without the straps it’s only the back band providing support.

Another option is a halter-style maxi that still gives you a feeling of mostly strapless. This shot is from my wedding and I was able to wear a bra with substantial straps around my neck (rather than over the shoulders) so it felt a bit strapless.

ShagMeRiggins · 16/03/2021 11:33

Nink, my pleasure.

venus (and you, too, BIWI), I have absolutely no idea how you’ve come to this conclusion about me. Most offended.

MrsOmelette · 16/03/2021 12:03

Thanks for help, I’ll have a look at it all. I was a 40FF though am now less, I’ll have to probably get a 36 soon (no idea with cup). Hard to plan for summer when hoping for more weight loss before!

NotwatchingSpooks · 16/03/2021 12:28

Morning, I am down 1/2 lb from last week (was 1 1/2) on Sunday but had half a glass of fizz and it pinged straight on.

Half way through my March challenge and I’ve been on my Watt bike everyday, tell myself that I only have to do 10 mins, but spurred on by the thought of closing the rings on my watch, I’m tending to do 30 mins most days.

I’m another one who is hoovering around the same weight, it’s almost like I am in Maintenance, so I think I just need to reign in what I am eating a bit more and really concentrate on my water. I think the other thing that I am seeing is that I am moving far less than normal, as not doing as much as I would normally do due to lockdown. I can tell as the bit I am finding hard to close is the move part on my rings on the watch.

I’m hoping that as we can do more as we come out of lockdown this will shift.

For those asking about easy dinners when others having a takeaway, I have also found it really difficult and am yet to find something that really works to order in. However, the best so far has been to get a tikka from the Indian with a salad.

If you are looking for ease, the roast chicken that comes in the bag is pretty easy if you pair it with salad and something like roasted frozen green beans. Or a tray bake with lots of veg like aubergines and courgettes. I sometimes get it ready early and leave it in the fridge, so that I just have to get it out when I am ready to cook it.

ShagMeRiggins · 16/03/2021 12:45

I can recommend Cook ready meals. Not all of them, but a few blissfully come with no accompanying carbs so the Beef Bourguignon, Pork Dijon, and Chicken Dijon are my Go TOS when I just want to shove something in the fecking oven. If I’m feeling fancy I’ll have gem lettuce underneath, or an avocado, or—bit of effort here—some quickly fried strips of courgette/leeks.

Often, especially on days where I’ve already had FLGV, I’ll just bake the damn thing and have it in a bowl.

These are the only ready meals that I rate as good as or sometimes better than my own cooking. (#hubris)

Can be found online, and Co-Op, possibly other shops but I haven’t looked. They also do vegetarian ready meals but I’m guessing they might have carbs “filler” ingredients. Haven’t really looked because I do the veg in my life separately, if you know what I mean.

LongtimelurkerL · 16/03/2021 12:54

Ended up with olives, salad, artichoke hearts, cheddar, chicken, Mayo, guac and pesto courgetti which I think is ok?

Do you watch portion sizes or does that not seem to matter?

I’m on my 3rd litre of water so far today so yay

In terms of takeaways/ready meals - I second the roast veg trays - which cheese on top or bacon lardons added and I also really rate bunless five guys!

BIWI · 16/03/2021 13:05

@LongtimelurkerL you keep your eye on your portion sizes in the sense that we eat to satiation. Don't under-eat - this is not a WOE about deprivation - but don't use that as an excuse to pile your plate high!

As you get near to your target weight you may find that you need to be stricter (and calories do come into play here) but for now, just be sensible.

Read the other thread and while I completely agree that the point of boot camp is NOT to replace carbs with animal protein, I realised I am actually very guilty of doing that myself so it has given me a kick up the bum. Reading @BIWI's replies I realised I'm not really keeping to the spirit of Bootcamp. While we're supposed to have FLGV, I maybe have one portion a day most days Blush and my daily carbs are often probably well under 25g. So I'm going to look at how I can up my veg intake and reduce meat consumption (which I want to do anyway as we eat too much as a family), especially processed meat. It's just too easy to grab some bacon/chorizo/whatever and tell myself I'm being good because it's low carb. It is and I'm losing weight, but if I want to keep this up long term I really need to be getting into healthy habits.
Will trawl the recipe thread later for vegetarian meal ideas, but any suggestions for filling lunches that don't involve meat would be welcome!

AWryGiraffe · 16/03/2021 13:13

My favourite lunch at the moment is a big pile of raw spinach and cucumber, with mushrooms and shallots fried in butter, and then something like a fried egg, avocado, or some feta or halloumi on the top. And Mayo on the side. Really filling!

Ninkanink · 16/03/2021 13:13

I try to keep to about 80% veg. Just as a rough guide, across a day.

Works pretty well for me. I also have trained myself away from seeing veg as an incidental side and see it as the bulk of a meal.

prettybird · 16/03/2021 13:35

I like to make a big batch of coleslaw and have that for a few lunches problem is that dh also likes it so it never lasts as long as I hope Wink

Midlifemission · 16/03/2021 14:13

@venusandmars

I look forward to getting my tootsies out in the warmth and fresh air

Just to be clear (because I know there are some naughty minds on here - @ShagMeRiggins I'm looking at you Grin ) I am talking about my feet and toes!!

This made me smile 😊 it must be Spring as I have just got my tootsies out here !
Midlifemission · 16/03/2021 14:17
**@cheeseisthebest* it's the next thread down in this topic, I started it for some advise which @BIWI* gave me straight away and ha since turned into someone basically just gunning for biwi. I am considering asking Mumsnet to remove it as it's got so nasty.
Wow I just read the thread too . I can't believe things get so heated and personal so fast.

I am not going to let anyone tell me my heart isn't happier on this WOE than before - in every possible way. Smile

It's not like BIWI has made all this up - it's a very widely known way of losing weight. Pretty much the only way that has ever worked for me.

Bestbees · 16/03/2021 14:29

The 'getting tootsies' out has made me smile too. I have a strict no tights after Easter rule (flesh coloured permitted if desperate) so starting to tackle the leg forest!

Strength to @BIWI. Some people just like a fight!

I do this too. Haven't read the thread you are all on about but I have been thinking the last few days that I should reduce my meat intake now that I've got used to this WOE.
ListenLinda · 16/03/2021 16:13

Just had a read of the other thread, the other poster really does seem to have a bee in their bonnet don’t they.

We all know this WOE works and if people want to be mindful about the amount of protein they are eating there is plenty of material out there and none of us are forced to eat animal products with every meal.
Some of us just do like to. This WOE has been a revelation for me and it’s thanks to you knowledgeable lot that I feel I can sustain this for a long long time. Or forever with the odd slice of pizza Grin

cheeseisthebest · 16/03/2021 17:05

Changing the subject totally, who here has a dog/puppy? We are getting a puppy in the summer and while we are all really excited I do feel a bit nervous! What's it really like?! Also trying to rearrange August holiday!

Doilooklikeatourist · 16/03/2021 17:06

When I was young , free and single ( ah , the good old days ) Mum and I used to go to Spain for a week , it always coincided with Cheltenham races so it would have been around now
The time after we returned , usually with a bit of a tan , it was a no more tights and feet out rule
Which reminds me to ask DD to shellac my tootsies ❤️ And buy some nice summer sandals
I read the other thread , goodness !
She needs to shoogle her sprouts

cheeseisthebest · 16/03/2021 17:06

Only just had it confirmed today.

ditavonteesed · 16/03/2021 17:12

@cheeseisthebest I have three dogs, a border terrier who is 12 a ten year old cocker spaniel and the baby a nearly 2 year old Dalmatian.

What sort of puppy you getting. Always happy to talk about dogs, they are fab and as you can see slightly addictive.

Ninkanink · 16/03/2021 17:21

@cheeseisthebest 🥰🥰🥰 Congratulations!! I’m going to have a dog someday!

I’d say read the Puppy Survival thread(s) on the Dog House topic...that’ll prepare you as much as possible (I think it’s a bit like when you’re having a baby and people try to tell you what it’s really like to have babies/toddlers/children - good and bad - but you don’t truly understand until you experience it)!

Hopeislost · 16/03/2021 18:28

I also find that I eat less animal protein on bootcamp as I'm not as hungry as I used to be. I used to think nothing of eating a 3-egg omelette or 4 scrambled eggs on two slices of toast. Now I'm quite satisfied with a 2 egg omelette with cheese and spinach.

ListenLinda · 16/03/2021 18:59

@Hopeislost i have a 3 egg omlette usually but feel very stuffed after. Probably a sign I should go down to 2 eggs Blush

BIWI · 16/03/2021 19:01

No meat here today either! Dinner is broccoli with seared onion in a three cheese sauce (made with cream rather than roux-based) and a tomato, shallot and basil salad.

@Bestbees I'm another who looks forward to bare legs. It was gloriously sunny here today, and warm, but unfortunately work commitments saw me wearing tights and boots. Maybe tomorrow... With no winter holiday in a warm place my legs have reverted to their grey/blue/white shade...

@cheeseisthebest We have been puppy walkers for guide dogs. The first night of a new pup is often like having a new baby, I always get shocked at how awful I feel being woken up in the night. And at various times over the first 2 weeks I regret the decision and want to send it back. But it settles down, or you become accustomed to it again. My advice is put 100% into training. Young pups don't need long walks and 20 steps walked properly is more valuable than 20 minutes of them pulling on a lead / harness. Aim for great recall and never stop reinforcing it. Regular puppy training classes.

It's easy to over-rule a small puppy that is misbehaving, you are stringer and it can't pull away, or you can pick it up. Not so with a 50 pound adult dog. Teach it good house manners - no unnecessary barking, no jumping up, no human food. If visitors come to the door, you greet them first, and dog only gets to greet them when you permit. All members of the family (including children) need to be consistent. Don't accidentally reward behaviour you want to avoid. God, the number of times I've shouted at dh for that, usually when he comes home from work and the excited dog jumps up on him. If he turns his back and walks away pup gives up; if dh rubs pups ears and makes a fuss then puppy has just been rewarded for jumping up or barking.

But it's such fun, and rewarding, and you will find that for months your household talk about nothing else (cute behaviour and bad behaviour). And when you scroll through the photos on your phone 90% of them will be of a dog Grin
