Morning all.

[[Here's the Spreadsheet as always
docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18CKhdQ3FlGz_8H53AA2Pqm4xmvGLHO6vBrkNWCkSO48/edit#gid=788946144 ]]

I hope everyone had a good week, and that any Mother's Day treats haven't messed things up too much Grin

So we enter our final two weeks. Still time to shift a couple of those pesky pounds - especially if you keep focused and stay strict. And a reminder, channelling my inner Shag, WATER, WATER, WATER!

Thank you! I feel a bit nervous but excited, it's a small dog and we know the family it's coming from which is a real bonus.
Just said to my kids I've been wanting a dog for over 40 years!

cheeseisthebest · 16/03/2021 19:10

Just made low carb cauliflower cheese delicious but so rich!

cheeseisthebest · 16/03/2021 20:51

It's gone very quiet......

ZiggZagg · 16/03/2021 20:54

Oh I have been such a carby twat since Sunday, did better today then just inhaled a pack of haribo Sad

Must do better tomorrow!

Mimosa1 · 16/03/2021 21:45

I've just had an accidental fast 24 hrs as I've been feeling ill and couldn't face food, but feeling better now. I'm quite excited to weigh in tomorrow, ha!

I second the Cook ready meals btw, and would as the Peking Duck to the previous posters list. It's so good! I'm excited to try the chicken and pork Dijon (we have a cook shop that opened recently down the road).

I read the other thread and sorry to see it got nasty. @BIWI you're doing a fab thing here. I'm personally very grateful for these BCs.

venusandmars · 16/03/2021 21:50

@ZiggZagg was there a particular reason - boredom? frustration? opportunity?

Or did carbs begat carbs? i.e. if you eat carbs one day does it make you want more the next day.

tbh though why did you have access to a pack of haribo? There have been times when I've had to ban certain items from the house, or avoid certain aisles in the supermarket. If it's not there I can't be tempted.

But more importantly, what are you going to do tomorrow to avoid a similar event? Can you have some hard boiled eggs on hand so that if you feel hungry or bored-of-mouth you could consider that as your first option. Could you have dinner pre-prepped, stick it in the oven and go out for a walk, so you're not hanging around the kitchen hungry with lovely cooking smells (that's what tempts me to snack). Could you stick all the tempting carby sweet things in a locked crate in the garage - out of harms way...

nowlook · 16/03/2021 21:57

Evening all!

Yes, I had pretty poor customer service from the low carb lot @BIWI. I can't be doing with all that "bear with us- we're just starting out" nonsense.

I've wasted much of the day trying to find new furniture for the bedroom. I know exactly what I want, but it's a case of champagne taste on a lemonade pocket Grin

Exciting puppy news cheese! It's a bit wearing having dogs until they calm down a bit (I have springers), but nowhere near as hard as kids. You should escape the sore nipples this time round. If you don't, I imagine Shag knows of a club where you'll find like-minded friends Wink

Doilooklikeatourist · 16/03/2021 22:06

Seem to have hit my planking limit
Meant to do 1 min 42 today and got nowhere near , will have another go tomorrow
Had a bit of a run , not as good as a couple of weeks ago
Then the 3 of us went for a 4 mile or so walk ( loving the Another Fucking Walk ) @BustleInYourHedgerow
Food good today ( and I
Weather is warming up , lots of water drunk
Egg mayo , avo , spring onions and lettuce with olive oil and a squeeze of lemon for lunch
Some cheese and butter after the walk as I felt hungry and wanted a biscuit
Dinner was pan fried salmon , with broccoli and shallots , mushrooms and courgettes finished off with some double cream
More water

Doilooklikeatourist · 16/03/2021 22:07

Should be ...
And as the weather is warming up , lots of water drunk

ZiggZagg · 16/03/2021 22:55

I don't know @venusandmars , I literally opened them and was eating before I even thought! I did eat carbs Sunday, then was hungover Monday, so was quite carby, I tried my best today but whenever I eat carbs I end up craving more!

Tomorrow, I will be more prepared. There's nothing tempting in the house, I'll up my water intake because that's been quite crap and will make a luxurious steak and cream cheese with FLGV which will fill me up!

I have some SLC hot cross buns, just in case but will aim not to have one (but I suppose if I'm craving carbs, it's better than a bag of haribo!)

Haribos were DS's, so the reaction to them missing tomorrow will be enough to put me off them next time Grin

BIWI · 16/03/2021 23:01

@ZiggZagg

I did eat carbs Sunday, then was hungover Monday, so was quite carby, I tried my best today but whenever I eat carbs I end up craving more!

So it's not just one day off, but three?! I think you really need to follow @venusandmars advice and make sure you don't have access to the carbs in the house!

OP posts:
ZiggZagg · 16/03/2021 23:05

I know biwi it's like I've had to wean myself off carbs again! Fully prepared for tomorrow, no carbs except FLGV will pass my lips!

venusandmars · 16/03/2021 23:22

But also @ZiggZagg there's something interesting to be considered when you look back at the 'journey':

Sunday - you have carbs of some sort(s) and presumably also some alcohol (given that you were hungover on Monday).
Monday - you've got 2 things going on: a hangover, which likely to make you crave carbs and salt and sugar (a big mac with fries and coke would be my go-to standard); and you've got a carb rebound which might make you feel a bit hungry.
Tuesday - by now you've left the fat burning zone far behind so although you're determined to be good, you're kind of starting again.. and might feel hungry before dinner. At the beginning of bootcamp we're advised to have 'good' snacks available - that's what we need again after a bit of a fall off the wagon. Just in case.

The good news is that this time round you should be back on it quicker. And the other good news is that you can see what happened and be better prepared next time.

ZiggZagg · 16/03/2021 23:33

Yes definitely @venusandmars ! I've come so far! 3 stone down since August, I still have a long way to go and I'm determined to get there! I need to stop faffing about, will have some celery sticks, Boursin and eggs on hand just in case tomorrow. Thank you both (and biwi for the stick) Grin

BustleInYourHedgerow · 17/03/2021 03:58

@ShagMeRiggins have definitely seen #AFW hashtagged somewhere!

@AWryGiraffe that lunch sounds delicious!

@Doilooklikeatourist swearing at the walk makes it more bearable I find

B: scrambled eggs, avocado
D: egg, lardons fried with pak choi, leeks, chilli and mushrooms, with some soy sauce. Nice but not near filling enough.
S: yoghurt and raspberries

pinkpinkeverywhere · 17/03/2021 07:39

Morning everyone, what exciting news @cheeseisthebest, we rehomed our dog at about 8 months which was great as it meant the biting and toilet training were done for us! One tip to add to those above is to think about where you'd like her to go to the toilet outside. I didn't want ours messing on the grass because of the children, so a friend who fosters guide dogs told me how they train guide dog puppies to go in one area of the garden, so we've done the same. We bought a little pen and have it on the patio and she does all her business in there. Makes it really easy to pick up and to clean the area. Anyway dogs are the best and I wouldn't be without my baby girl, she loves me even when the teenagers are telling me I've ruined their lives......

Can someone confirm what I ate last night was ok, I'm sort of congratulating myself and hopefully it's not misplaced. DH and I had to go to an appointment last night and were driving home about 8, he said I can't be bothered cooking, normally we'd go and get fish and chips.....so I said to get them and I'd just have the fish. So I ate the fish - didn't touch the batter - and had leftover celeriac dauphinoise and leek and fennel gratin with it. I didn't even pinch a chip! So I'm assuming this is ok? I just felt a bit guilty telling him he couldn't have them - although I did judge the chips, batter and bread he was eating washed down with a can of coke..... If it's ok I'm classing it as a NSV as I love fish and chips and a chip butty so not tucking in was a big thing for me.

ouchmyfeet · 17/03/2021 08:01

I would definitely class that as a victory @pinkpinkeverywhere, impressive willpower!

ouchmyfeet · 17/03/2021 08:01

Tell me more about your leek and fennel gratin...

prettybird · 17/03/2021 08:02

Forgot to post up yesterday's earrings: a lovely pair of silver earrings that my mum gave me. I'd forgotten about them so this challenge has been good in reminding me about what earrings I have Smile

Week 9 - Low Carb Bootcamp - only 2 weeks to go ...
ouchmyfeet · 17/03/2021 08:03

Also love the sound of @AWryGiraffe's lunch, have taken a screenshot of that to look back on later when I can't remember it Wink

BIWI · 17/03/2021 08:45

I think that's a huge victory @pinkpinkeverywhere!

OP posts:
Mimosa1 · 17/03/2021 08:46

@pinkpinkeverywhere that's a triumph in my book! I love chips... but that celeriac gratin sounds fabulous.

My unexpected 24hr fast resulted in 300g off the scales today surely 3kg off was in order!!! Fingers crossed it will stick.

Lovely lunch of halloumi salad planned today.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 17/03/2021 08:49

Hi all. Thanks for your kindness after my Sunday meltdown. Lots of stress all landing in one place.

I STS this week - I'm another who has basically gone around the same 2/3 pounds for a few weeks now. My set point is clearly about 3/4lbs lower than before boot camp though.

I had a glass of wine with a friend last night and feel really grim this morning. I'm going out for dinner tonight with other friends and the menu is just carbtastic. Anyone fancy looking at it with me and making some food choices for me? I eat anything.

BIWI · 17/03/2021 09:02

Wow! What a menu @Dailyhandtowelwash! How I envy you being able to go out.

From a quick look, it strikes me that you could have most things - it's more a case of singling out the very few that are carby.

In which case, when it comes to the starters, I'd avoid:

Potted smoked haddock and mussels - the sauce may be thickened with flour
Tempura prawns (batter)
Garlic king prawns - unless you have the willpower to leave the garlic bread!
The warm scallop salad, because it has balsamic in it
The coquilles St Jacques, because of the mash
The chargrilled chicken Caesar, because of the croutons
Parma ham, because of the fruit
Avocado salad, because of the fruit
Wild mushrooms, because of the toast

When it comes to the mains:

Many of them are served with Jersey new potatoes - ideally avoid those, but new potatoes are the 'least worst' option when it comes to potatoes, and as you're unlikely to have a huge plate of them, this wouldn't be too bad (and they're so delicious!)

Otherwise, I'd avoid"

Beer battered cod - batter/chips
Oven-baked cod fillet, because of the foccacia and chickpeas
Quayside luxury fish pie - sauce may be thickened with flour, and it will be topped with mash
Both surf & turf, as they come with fries (unless you ask for something else instead)
Obviously the pasta/risotto dishes!
Panfried breast of chicken/soy glazed duck, because of the dauphinoise potatoes
Quayside burger - unless you're happy to have it without the bun or chips

That looks like a long list, but actually there's a whole lot more that you can have - what a difference that makes!

Hope you enjoy it.

@BIWI. I love Jersey Royals , so glad to hear they are the least worst potato

@Dailyhandtowelwash I’m so jealous of you actually having a social life
I’ve just googled the restaurant , it looks lovely !
Are you allowed indoor eating ?
Rumours are we’ll be allowed to eat outside from May ( in Wales , nothing official yet )
Our social life is hoping we see someone to talk too at a distance on our daily AFW

Still struggling with the plank challenge , but will persevere , just not at the speed the app wants me to go

My new challenge for the rest of the month is to have veg at each meal , I’m terrible for just having scrambled eggs for lunch or breakfast ,
Had mushrooms and fried eggs for breakfast
Some sort of salad for lunch , and I’m planning cauliflower pizziola for dinner
More painting and patio building planned for today , at least it makes me sleep well 💤
