Great progress @OverweightPidgeon! Flowers

Just don't expect the same rate of loss every week. We might promise it will work for you, but we can't promise miracles Grin

@ZiggZagg great news about your DF - must have been a real shock yesterday.

Trying to work myself up to going out for my second C25K run. It's a lovely day here, but still don't feel like it!

@Doilooklikeatourist that looks amazing!

@prettybird I love earring, and really enjoying seeing yours. I have a pair of pearls from my grandmother which I love to wear.

I am thinking of changing my weight in day to Friday simply because I tend to eat better during the week and will help me stay positive and on track I think.

@venusandmars hope you enjoy the chicken. Ours needed longer to cook than the recipe, though could be my oven!

JengaCupboard · 03/03/2021 13:06

Hi everyone,

Following my previous and subsequent advice, I just wanted to follow up. Back down to 12st 5.3lb this morning which is the lowest I've been since starting again 27 days ago...

Plain 'proper' Greek yoghurt this morning (as I have learnt that not all yoghurt is created equal) with 6 walnut halves... no fruit and no honey... dull but passable before I headed out.

I made a lunch pot of wafer thin chicken slices, cherry tomatoes, slices of brie, two boiled eggs and full fat mayo. Dinner will be home made goulash with delightfully fatty looking pork shoulder steaks (quite excited about that), peppers, red onion, tinned tomato, splash of Worcester sauce, beef stock, paprika and sour cream, with grated cheese and maybe some avocado. Roasted cauli for me, pasta for DP.

I also probably looked like a mad woman in Aldi at the weekend but I have switched my 'posh' tinned cherry tomatoes for 28p cheap chopped as they're the lowest carb...

Also I have been researching stuff like the bare naked noodles and low carb bread you guys talk about, and can only find them on Ocado which have no delivery slots for basically forever... any good product recommendations on this front, and where you buy? Thanks everyone.

OverweightPidgeon · 03/03/2021 13:10

That goulash sounds delicious @JengaCupboard , I might give it a try, would it work with beef do you think?

FusionChefGeoff · 03/03/2021 13:24

@ChristMyArse woah thank God that's over - I am NOT looking forward to when mine hit teenagerhood - my DH is so stubborn and it's looking like DD6 has inherited that gene so that could be fun Smile

Great run this morning - no need for gels and felt really strong. Was a bit slow but the route was very hilly!! Was at parents as they do childcare / homeschool on Weds and Dad made me the perfect cup of fresh decaff coffee after and it was just a moment of bliss - endorphins, water, hot coffee, positivity for the day ahead.

L: scrambled egg whites plus a couple of actual eggs, smoked salmon and cream with mushrooms
Few teaspoons of the soon to be off limits coconut yoghurt (6g per 100g) but need to get rid of it!
D: aubergine parmiagina thingy with some added chicken on the side, I will be freestyling a bit!

I've also ordered some keto strips as I am curious to see short term impact of food choices - I don't want to start weighing daily but am still too new / nervous to be completely chilled in between sessions!

JengaCupboard · 03/03/2021 13:30

@OverweightPidgeon

That goulash sounds delicious *@JengaCupboard* , I might give it a try, would it work with beef do you think?
Hello, yes I usually do it either with stewing steak as a slow cooked thing, or quickly having fried off some nice steak separately and just dropped in the sauce at the end. I forgot to say I also finish with fresh parsley and it also has garlic in it..

I thought the shoulder steaks would up the fat content.. ?!

ShagMeRiggins · 03/03/2021 15:14

Way too many carbs, and broke my no-chocolate-lent rule. Feel a bit bad.

That’s because you’ve disappointed God.

Grin

(Sorry, as a lapsed Catholic, I couldn’t resist.)

I’ve caught up and can’t possibly make the time right now to comment on so much I wanted to comment on, but you’re all fab and I love the posts and my heart goes out to everyone with struggles or challenges of any kind.

My gel manicure kit continues to please me, by the way. Excellent investment. Now I want to buy something else. (Boredom purchase.)

WATER!! And I don’t mean green tea or whatever else is used instead, I mean get yourselves a large glass of plain WATER and drink it now. You know it makes a huge difference to your weight loss. Mwah!

nowlook · 03/03/2021 15:50

Oh, there you are Shag! Thought you were quiet. My nails are an abomination because I did mum's roots at the weekend (no, she's not in my bubble- don't even @ me) and didn't bother with gloves. Happily, the colour is even better than I'd hoped, which has almost justified the amount I paid to get proper Aveda professional colour sent over from the US. Almost. Still, it made a huge difference to her mood so that's the main thing.

I know this isn't S&B, but my Ishga haul arrived today venus so am looking forward to trying it!

ChristMyArse · 03/03/2021 15:51

Well I stiffened up after the BIG DAY OUT yesterday and decided I needed to move a bit so OH took me to a farm shop, cheered me up.

Can we have cottage cheese? I never see it mentioned but the carb count is 2. Something per 100?!

But look... LOOK what I got 😁

The butter!!!!!!!!!

Keeping on keeping on here. Yesterday’s dinner of sirloin with a blue cheese sauce and mushrooms was delicious, today I’ve had granola, cream and cheese though not that great really just so tired. Getting bloods taken next week and see if I need my meds adjusting as I’ve not felt right since Christmas tbh. Tomorrow’s food: scrambled eggs, maybe corned beef and shallots.

Dreamqueen · 03/03/2021 17:31

Shag thanks for the gel kit information. Mine has arrived & I did my nails today. I love it. It's the first time I've had decent nails since the first lockdown. Part of my March challenge is to up my beauty maintenance routine.

I made this chocolate cake today. It's 6g carbs per serving but I've cut it into smaller slices and frozen most of it for the odd treat. I know it's got sweetener in it but sometimes needs must.

LittleMy77 · 03/03/2021 18:15

@JengaCupboard my Morrison’s has the bare noodles and other random stuff. I bulk buy serious pig cheese crackers direct from serious pig, they’re really addictive!

StuntNun · 03/03/2021 18:38

A big food day today for me as usual cos I'm greedy:
L: burgers and coleslaw, kimchi, kefir
Snack: two cheese almond muffins with lashings of butter
D: pollock cooked in butter and cream with celeriac and leek mash and courgettes fried in butter
Burp!

Day 3 of my earring challenge are silver flowers set with Swarovski crystals. I'm hoping I actually have enough different earrings to make it through the month. It's a good thing I'm not doing a fitness challenge as my plank time has completely tanked lately, I just don't have the mental fortitude at the moment. However I did all my physio exercises and some stretching and Pilates, and today's StrongLifts exercises were barbell squats, bench presses and barbell rows. So that's all good!

AWryGiraffe · 03/03/2021 18:40

Felt rubbish all day today so just nibbled at bits rather than any proper meals. Had a combination of yoghurt, sliced Gouda and avocado, cucumber, salted peanuts and peanut butter and celery.

Hoping for a better day tomorrow!

Dailyhandtowelwash · 03/03/2021 18:47

Get well soon, @AWryGiraffe!

So pleased your horrible month is past, @ChristMyArse. But can I make you jealous? This is cheaper than supermarket own here!

Doilooklikeatourist · 03/03/2021 19:14

@ChristMyArse I think cottage cheese is not ideal as it is low in fat

Good day here
Plank challenge ✅
Fasted til about 1
Brunch , bacon , 2 fried eggs and mushrooms
D . Fajita style turkey steak ( no wrap ) lettuce leaves , half avo , sour cream and grated cheese

Still waiting to do a mani / pedi . DD has a gel kit , I’m planing on getting her to do my toe nails for me ( but it’s cold here today )
At least my fingernails are nicely shaped , buffed and moisturised

Howdidthathappen1 · 03/03/2021 20:25

Can I ask about portion sizes and how people eat less in terms of their appetite reducing as its not happening for me - and nurses the weight loss.
B 3 eggs omelette with mushrooms and cheddar about 8am
L aubergine into 2, drizzled with oil and harrissa paste baked with lettuce with ceaser dressing on (a lot of) about 1pm
Snack - lump of cheddar about 3.30 then greek yogurt and 6 walnuts as still hungry!
D chicken, chorizo, fried with asparagus cherry tomatoes and spinach with feta stirred through at 6pm
3 litres water / lemon tea
Still hungry!! All meal portions are large and I wake up in the morning starving. I know I had a cheesecake incident at the weekend which will have set me back but tbh I was eating as much before then and as I've lost 2/3lbs since the start I can only think I need to cut down on the amount of food

Howdidthathappen1 · 03/03/2021 20:26

*nor is the weight loss not nurses!!

ouchmyfeet · 03/03/2021 20:36

Evening all, those chocolate cakes look awesome. I'm tempted to make some cupcakes as suggested and freeze them. My birthday is coming up and would love to have a slice of cake with the kids in celebration.

Rubbish day here today. Had a headache all day that I can't shift, and massively craving sweet things. I think it's just PMT, never really sure as I don't have periods but do get the monthly hormone cycle. I've had a couple of squares of dark choc which didn't really hit the spot (a few hundred grams of milky chocolate would have been perfect) so I am at least glad that I stopped there and didn't fall into a carb pit

L: doner meat with salad and Mayo
T: meatballs with tomato sauce. Buttered cabbage instead of the pasta that everyone else had.

Challenge failed on day 3 as no rings closed. Feeling crap but am meeting a friend for a walk after work tomorrow so will definitely get out and close the rings then, even if I still feel crap.

2 days of recruitment ahead for me, which is one of the most loathed parts of my job. Roll on Saturday!

ouchmyfeet · 03/03/2021 20:38

still a bit alarmed at the amount of butter I'm eating, but weightloss has picked up since I cut back on cheese and stopped holding back on the butter. It's so bloody delicious Wink

cheeseisthebest · 03/03/2021 21:31

Still really plateaued here and keep eating dark chocolate each evening. Possibly a correlation?!!

StuntNun · 03/03/2021 21:37

Howdidthathappen if you're hungry then eat! Make sure you're getting plenty of water and fat and keep the carbs and dairy low.

RagzReturnsRebooted · 03/03/2021 21:39
@RagzReturnsRebooted
I made this cake , it’s delicious and easy
Butter , eggs , chocolate ( store cupboard ingredients 👍)
www.dietdoctor.com/recipes/low-carb-chocolate-cake
I’ll make it again , probably in cup cakes , then I can put whipped cream and strawberries on top ( and freeze some without topping )
@ZiggZagg such good news for you , let’s hope DF makes a good and speedy recovery , and that DH does too
Thank you, I'll give that one a go!

LostaraYil · 03/03/2021 21:52

@Doilooklikeatourist, that cake looks lush, I think I'll make it for mother's day to prevent people getting me something off plan!
I am really pleased with myself for cooking an aubergine 'lasagne', it was delicious. A bit more effort than I can usually be bothered with but definitely worth it.

Day 3 of the shred down and my arms are killing me! I have no upper body strength.

cheeseisthebest · 03/03/2021 22:04

I finally cooked my duck legs for tea, bit disappointing. They didn't taste of much.
