Week 4 - Low Carb Bootcamp - how much chatting?!

BIWI · 07/02/2021 21:30

So much chatting, I've had to start a new thread.

here's the Spreadsheet of Absolute Fabulousness

Remember, this week (like week 3) is notorious for seeing little or no weight gain, so please don't panic if the scales aren't moving for you - always assuming, of course, that you have been following the rules 100%!

Also, the Very Amazing @StuntNun has started a thread about fasting. Fasting isn't a regular part of Bootcamp, but it's a tool that you can use in your weight loss 'journey' (sorry for the cliché!)

have a look here, and think about if it's something you might want to incorporate into Bootcamp

I hope very much that things are going well for you, and that you're into the swing of things low carb by now; but as ever, post any questions/issue here and let's see if we can help.

That looks heavenly Ragz

cheeseisthebest · 10/02/2021 13:36

I am also very very grumpy today. I dont know why, it's hard working and with kids here too. It would just be nice to have something to look forward too.
Anyway, sorry enough moaning!
I emailed about my bread and they said it should have been edible without being frozen until the best before date and so are sending me another one!

flossiegrippiter · 10/02/2021 13:40

Stripped a roast chicken and boiled up the carcass and skin for stock for a chicken soup, think my fat content is going to be pretty high for this soup!

BustleInYourHedgerow · 10/02/2021 13:57

Aha Ninkanink that makes sense thanks!

Ragz that meal is going on my list!

Cheese it is very hard. And monotonous. I booked an air b n b cottage a few hours away for July and look at it most evenings, I neeed something to look forward to. And I think trying to eat well and concentrating on myself has lifted my mood this week. Feeling sorry for myself and drinking too much and eating crap really had me stuck in a rut. How old are your children?

BIWI · 10/02/2021 14:00

I have spent a busy morning moving my 2 not-yet-ripe avocados around the kitchen, to ensure they're sitting in sunshine!

Bustle they are 13 and 9. 13 year old is very good and motivated and shes lovely. My 9 year is lovely too! But of course needs a lot more help and has so much energy and hes bored. He misses school!

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 10/02/2021 14:10

Hi everyone. Been reading along, but felt too apathetic to post yesterday. (Life apathy, not thread apathy. Love this thread).

Still KOKO here. Jeans are noticeably looser! I wear them during the day even though I'm always in the house: just to differentiate day from night. Still slight gain according to the scales, but I'm treating them with the contempt that they deserve.

Cooked the butter chicken recipe last night: it was delicious!

No breakfast today as I just wasn't hungry: but had yoghurt after lunch, so haven't actually eaten less.

We're having shepherds pie tonight.

I really appreciate having this WOE to focus on atm.

I would LOVE to see a flounce. I'm so bored. Any volunteers?

pinkpinkeverywhere · 10/02/2021 14:14

I was thinking that too @MilesJuppIsMyBitch, would be rather entertaining but I'm not volunteering as I'm enjoying the thread. Maybe we should trawl some of the old Bootcamp threads and find a good flounce for entertainment purposes!

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 10/02/2021 14:25

Good idea @pinkpinkeverywhere! Although maybe we can all take turns to pretend-flounce.

I'll mull it over & see what I can come up with.

Need a screen break now though: been doom-scrolling aimlessly for far too long!

Ninkanink · 10/02/2021 14:28

I made chicken stock yesterday! We’re having chicken and veg soup made with it tonight. That will be dinner no.4 from the roast chicken we had on Sunday. Plus we had one lunch from it as well.👍👍

@Onelittlepiglet a few years ago DH and I had dinner at a lovely curry house and at the end of the meal, with much fanfare, they brought out a special box of mangoes they’d had flown in from India and offered them to the diners. We had one each and they were absolutely divine. Took me right back.

Pandoraslastchance · 10/02/2021 14:31

Gammon steak for lunch as I'm feeling like absolute death.

Tea is butter chicken with broccoli.

StuntNun · 10/02/2021 14:33

Instead of a flounce how about we have a fight? I'll start... Avocados are nasty, slimy and tasteless, and celeriac chips are rubbish.

Ninkanink · 10/02/2021 14:34

On the Thai curry, they unfortunately can be on the carby side as they do often use palm sugar. But you could swerve most of it by being sparing with the sauce - just have mainly the meat and veg. If you get a side like broccoli with garlic and soy sauce, or maybe some chicken wings, that will fill your meal out nicely as well and it’ll feel like more of an occasion.

I fancy Thai now!

Ninkanink · 10/02/2021 14:41

Heheheh.

I have visions of an actual BC seriously low carb-bunfight!! One of those where the first few posts are jokey and all in good fun and suddenly it all goes incredibly vicious...

@Pandoraslastchance hope you feel better soon.

I’ve had another inadequate lunch - dark choc and peanut butter, and a bag of pork scratchings. Once in a while I have a few days to a week where I lose my cooking mojo a bit and just cannot be bothered...we were going to have the aforementioned soup for lunch but whilst making it I realised I didn’t want to do any more cooking today, so it was bumped to dinner.

Going to do a bit of a tidy and clean of our bedroom and after that, chill with a cuppa and watch an old film. It’s snowing again (has been snowing pretty much constantly for three days now) and it’s just breathtakingly beautiful to watch, like a proper winter wonderland.❄️❄️❄️

nowlook · 10/02/2021 14:54

Could we do North v South? I reckon we'd batter you obvs using egg and parmesan

Ninkanink · 10/02/2021 15:01

I’ve got battered fish in the freezer...could happily eat that today tbh...

Lyrata · 10/02/2021 15:07

Haha maybe we should invite some of the folks from AIBU to join. Although not sure they deserve to be thin.

Bestbees · 10/02/2021 15:08

Sorry to everyone who is feeling lock down low. To be honest I was dreading today, but actually things have gone OK so far.

I came on intending to do a pretend flounce but then worried it wouldn't work and I would be barred with @BIWI being the St Michael with a big stick in place of the flaming sword!

Had a delicious lunch, different to what I have planned. Fried frozen peppers, shredded cabbage and defrosted frozen spinach in butter and oil. Add shredded chicken, boursin and glug of cream. Served on bed of lettuce dressed with garlic oil. So yummy!

Hearing of whooshes is keeping me motivated to koko.

Those asking about veg box's. We use riverford weekly, a quick veg box to avoid pototoes. Love the veg, keeps us trying a variety of things and love their ethics. We also have a local green grocer who we use for top ups (year round cucumber. Peppers and grapes for kids mostly!) we grown a bit of our own, and friends with allotments are generous here. I usually repay with Jam (make lots but don't actually like it!) and fruity brandy (which I do like!) also like to make cider vinager from apples in our garden.

@RagzReturnsRebooted those fries look epic!!

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 10/02/2021 15:09

FIGHT! FIGHT!

Tea vs. Dinner!
Swedes vs. Turnips!
London is the most important place in the UK! No it isn't!

Now I'm all worked up. I'll have to go and lie down in a darkened room.

Lyrata · 10/02/2021 15:09

Hahaha imagining BIWI guarding a garden of Eden with a big stick and instead of the apples on the tree it’s all cheeseburger pie and celeriac.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 10/02/2021 15:10

No apples in BIWI's garden of Eden! Would have saved a lot of trouble.

cheeseisthebest · 10/02/2021 15:15

A flounce would be entertaining!!

BIWI · 10/02/2021 15:51

Er ..... !

@MilesJuppIsMyBitch
I think you'll find that if you're eating chez vous, it's supper

Can we fight now? Grin

(So glad we're doing violence early on in BC before I get spindly arms)

Ninkanink · 10/02/2021 16:09

definitely not spindly
