Morning all.

We've completed our ten weeks - and I can see from the Spreadsheet just how well it's gone!

But just because the ten weeks are up, doesn't mean we have to stop. So here's a bright, shiny new chat thread for us to keep chatting and supporting each other.

Thanks BIWI, I was going to go back into it properly from Monday 4th, so a week of easing in and getting ready with some chat works for me. I would rather start properly from the 11th though, as I don’t want To loose the new year feeling.

I have realised that it is the finishing off of stuff that is worst for me, I did a pudding for dd1s birthday, then finished it off Yesterday, not surprised that the scales have just gained another 2lbs, on top of a Christmas 3lbs, so I really want to reign myself back in now as I think as Stuntnun has said these are the dangerous days.

So today’s plan is to have a fridge clear out - into the bin 😀 and do a bit of meal planning to start 2021 with some good stuff at the ready. We have got a lovely meal planned for tonight, Which is all pretty good, as long as I swerve the pudding, I think I will make up a bootcamp alternative.

This might be a strange question, but is it possible for eating high carbs/sugar to cause itchy skin and hives? Especially if you've not eaten them for months beforehand?
I'm really itchy (have ruled out nits Grin ) and the only thing that's been different in the last week is my diet. Doctor has suggested piriton and giving it a few more days to see if it goes naturally, but so far it isn't disappearing.

BIWI · 31/12/2020 10:52

I don't know, @MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously - but it definitely sounds like some kind of allergic reaction to something! Have you gone back to what you were eating before Christmas?

OP posts:
BIWI · 31/12/2020 11:29

Actually @MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously have a read of this

A suggestion that shingles might be linked to Covid-19, along with other skin conditions. Excerpt here:

But has shingles become more common during the coronavirus pandemic? It's a question some clinicians are asking, with evidence that other skin complaints such as urticaria, characterised by hives – red, itchy welts on the skin – may be also linked to Covid-19

I don't want to worry you, obviously, but have you had/do you have any other Covid symptoms?

OP posts:
VeryLittleOwl · 31/12/2020 11:56

I get really bad scalp eczema when I eat too much sugar, so yes, definitely possible.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 31/12/2020 12:03

Thank you for the reply Biwi. I don't think I have Covid - I've no other symptoms. I've never had shingles but I'll keep a look out for blisters. Apart from the itching, I feel pretty healthy.
Have just restarted the low carb woe, but over Christmas have been having much more sugar than on bootcamp, so just wondered if it's possible to develop an allergy to it.

Lyrata · 31/12/2020 12:05

I once got hives when I went from very clean eating to very dirty eating. I don’t know quite what happened but I think our digestive system is more delicate - and connected to the rest of our body - than we sometimes realise. I did a total elimination diet for a few weeks and they went away. I was also getting chronic stomach pain. It was all very weird!

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 31/12/2020 12:59

It's definitely an incentive to stick to a healthier woe!
Literally the only thing that changed was my diet - I can't think what else I'd develop an allergy to. Washing powder, toiletries etc are all the same, it wouldn't be the cat because I've had her for two years.

Oneborneverydecade · 31/12/2020 13:58

I've also noticed that my skin has been itchy over the last week - but quite localised, just around my tummy area

WitchWandHasBaublesOn · 31/12/2020 15:16
@WitchWandHasBaublesOn

The reason I've suggested starting in w/c 11 Jan is because there isn't much time for people to sign up if we go for the week beforehand, which also means less time for them to prep/shop, etc.

But no reason why anyone who wants to couldn't start themselves a week earlier Smile
Thanks for taking my perspective into account. I like the option of being able to weigh in if we 're ready to dod son on the 11th . It will be a great help to me in the meantime. I'm aiming for that now.

Hoping everyone's ok for this last day of 2020. Smile

prettybird · 31/12/2020 15:35

I'm going to start a week early so that I can be out of the first 2 weeks of strict Boot Camp by Burns Night Smile

Even if we can't have anyone around except my dad we'll still have a nice meal and alcohol Wink

Ahhh, that's good thinking! Might be just the motivation I need to get started again!
Takingontheflab · 31/12/2020 16:59

Fasted 21 hrs then ate an omlette in attempt to restart the egg fast and realised I am not ready to do that again 🤣 so I've had a cheese omelette done in butter, then nibbled some left over beef and sprouts/a pig in blanket. Chugging water and getting back into habit of not eating after 4.30pm which makes me feel so much better.

No shift on scales which is disappointing. Was hoping alot of xmas gain would be water weight but clearly I've actually packed on half a stone. What a shitter!

ZiggZagg · 31/12/2020 19:59

I've bought Renpho scales!! Grin

Happy New Year everyone, just a quiet night in with the family, no booze but a lovely Indian takeaway on the way, with a tiny slice of cheesecake afterwards!

Takingontheflab · 31/12/2020 20:31

Happy new year guys!! Xx

poorbuthappy · 31/12/2020 21:37

Merry new year everyone.
I fell off the wagon on Christmas Day and aren't quite back on yet.
Currently lead in bed with dd2 not feeling quite right due to shitty perimenopausal period drinking water.

Will be proper back on it Monday -'d eagerly await the next boot camp!

Oneborneverydecade · 31/12/2020 21:40

Happy new year everyone 🎉

GorgeousGoldies · 31/12/2020 22:37

Happier new year all boot campers 🥳

Can’t wait to get back on track again - bring on January!

NigellaAwesome · 01/01/2021 01:08

Happy New Year everyone!

I have truly fallen off the wagon. Dd tried to take her life mid November, and I have been emotionally eating ever since. Add to that ongoing work stress, and an awful incident that I can't really talk about, but left me feeling completely violated 😢

I have used Christmas as an excuse to eat and drink to excess, and I am really looking forward to boot camp starting in Jan to help me get back on track. I can't even face weighing on the scales. Out of this pity post, the one good thing has been that I have been walking most days.

Well done to all on their progress. Lyrata and IncuriablyCurious your photos are absolutely amazing and very inspiring. Well done to you and everyone else.

On a side note, I am farting like a trooper. I blame the turkey. 😁

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 01/01/2021 01:22

Happy New Year all 🎊
Am looking forward to getting stuck into the diet and fitness again. January always feels like a fresh start even though I know that in real terms nothing is that different. The mental shift between December and January is odd but I'm glad of it!

Totalshambles · 01/01/2021 09:21

NigellaAwesome you have been through an awful time. Coming out of that safely is the most important thing. I hope both you and your dd have managed to access the help you need, and hoping this year brings you recovery and peace.

venusandmars · 01/01/2021 10:24

NigellaAwesome so sorry to hear you've had a terrible time. For me, when things in the world feel really, horribly out of control, it helps to have some small goals to focus on - things that I CAN do whatever happens - a certain number of steps a day, or a good regime of eating and drinking lots of water.

Don't worry about what the scales say now, focus on what progress there will be in 10 or 11 weeks of bootcamp 2021.

Lyrata · 01/01/2021 10:27

Hugs for you @NigellaAwesome :(. I’m so sorry you’ve had such a terrible end to 2020. I hope you find happier times in 2021 xx

BIWI · 01/01/2021 10:50

Massive squishy hugs for you @NigellaAwesome. What a terrible time, just to add to all the other terrible things that happened in 2020. I'm not surprised that dieting has not been front of your mind.

Here's to a better, healthier and happier 2021 xxx

Hugs NigellaAwesome

Wishing everyone a peaceful new year.

Christmas seems to have caught up with me and I’m 5lbs up, so I’m back on this WOE properly now. I really feel like having a good clear out and taking down our very droopy real tree, we have a fake one in the hall which I’m happy to leave up.

As some one else said, I was really restrained with the buying of treats, but as I was not eating them, they seem to have sat for ages. Also because of lockdown I’ve actually baked a bit more, which has been really nice, but as it’s nicer that has been eaten rather than the shop bought stuff.

Anyway onwards food for today

B Greek yogurt
L Homemade veg soup with a sprinkle of grated cheese
D roast chicken and flgv
