Week 4 - Pre-Christmas Low Carb Bootcamp - time to focus

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Morning all. Sorry for the late start - had a bit of a bad night so slept longer than usual.

I hope that the scales were kind to you this morning, but please remember week 4 is notorious (along with week 3) in that you are very likely to have seen no loss, or even a small gain

If this has happened to you, DON'T PANIC!

This is your body adjusting to a new WOE, and from now on you should be burning fat. So don't change what you've been doing and things will get moving again; you should expect to see 1-3lbs losses each week (depending on how much you have to lose)

However, it's also important to be scrupulously honest with yourself. If you have had no loss, or seen a gain, go back over what you have been eating and drinking. Have you been following the rules? Have you been keeping your fat levels high? Have you been drinking all the water?

Good luck to us all for the following week as we go into lockdown once again. I know it's not going to be easy, and the lure of carbs (and all the alcohol) will be even more ever-present. Post here if you're needing support to stay away from them and together we can help each other. Remember, you're not alone!

@BuffyTheBuffetSlayer

Just be careful, if you're only eating two meals a day then not eating veg/salad at lunch, then you are missing out on important nutrition. Even if you had just had some mushrooms with your lunch that would have helped.

Also:

I have drunk 3 pints of water so far, I'm sure I can squeeze in another 2 before bed.

At your weight you should be drinking 6 pints. Something tells me you're not going to manage 3 in an evening before bed, to try and drink more earlier on

Thanks @BIWI, I've upped my veg, I didnt realise I wasnt eating enough. I was studying until 2.30am so unfortunately had plenty time to sink another 3 pints. Gutted to hear its 6 pints not 5 🙈

Meals yesterday were....

B. Fasting
L. Cant remember (but I promise it was bootcamp lunch!)
D. Roast buttered chicken thighs with mushrooms, tomatoes and extra buttered FLGV.

Today
B. Fasting
L. Cheese and onion omelette with spinach
D. Roasted the last of the chicken thighs with a huge mountain of buttered FLGV.

@Oneborneverydecade

^@stuntnun You're right of course. My hang up is probably my C section scar from baby three. I elected for a section after a failed induction so subconsciously I feel like the scar (and overhanging tummy) is my fault. But that's really over thinking things and hopefully at goal weight I won't even see it.
Thank you to whomever responded with how to check for DR^

I'm the same! After 4 DC I worry about what I will be left with after I lose all the weight.
I had an emergency c-section (with many complications) last year, we both nearly died and spent time in high dependency. I piled the weight on after. I felt I was on the brink of PND for such a long time, so think fell into the trap of comfort eating.
Between my emergency c-section and the back to back pregnancies was a good idea at the time I have a huge overhang and just dont see how I can get rid if it. If I do go ahead with the tummy tuck DP offered to pay for, I'd want to keep my scar because it's a reminder of how much we both fought and what we came through Smile But I also totally understand your feelings towards yours, for a long time I hated my scar.

@Totalshambles

Just catching up on all the chat and some fab meal ideas. Also was wondering about wine. I mean with this lockdown and everything it’s pretty hard to resist. Then up popped a skinny booze advert on my Facebook just as I was pondering wine generally (which was weird) but anyway it reckons it’s about 0.25g carb per glass. www.skinnybooze.co.uk/collections/white-wine/products/painted-wolf-sauvignon-blanc?variant=37050590396604

Anyone tried it? Could this help me through lockdown?

I think that carb count is woefully low - everything else I've seen for sauvignon blanc suggests 3g carbs per 150 glass. I can't believe it would be as low as 0.25g per glass!

And, the glass size they're talking about in that link is 125ml, which is a small glass - if you could restrict it to that, you're a better man than me!

@MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously

Thank you ShagMeRiggins. I am trying - used to be a total sugar fiend and have gone from every meal being carby and constant chocolate eating to what I am doing now. I do seriously need to lose weight though. That's my aim for bootcamp along with eliminating the desire to eat sweet things all the time. Will up the veg tomorrow. Thanks again Flowers
Yes, you're trying - but why not just adopt Bootcamp rules from the start?!

You'll have much better results, honestly!

BIWI true re the wine - 125 slips down far too quickly. When something’s too good to be true and all that...

Oh me please. I didn’t know this was a thing. I’m usually okay but I must say since having the boobs I’ve realised I probably need to reevaluate my wardrobe a bit. Strangely I’ve become more drawn to pretty/ornate things rather than the very simple and plain stuff I chose previously - it might be just my age or that I now feel subconsciously more feminine and that I won’t look like I’m a man dragged up.

Biwi,apart from the chocolate, I honestly thought I was adopting BC rules. Will ditch the chocolate and up the veg.

Thanks BIWI for letting me give back/share some fun and expertise with Bootcampers. Especially during Lockdown v2.0.

I’m noting all the names here and will DM to everyone so we can take this offline to not derail. And for those who are interested but unwilling to post here, a DM is okay.

I’m excited and hope we can have fun, y’all.

Summery1 · 05/11/2020 23:39

I've been trying to catch up on reading posts, so some days I don'tget to post (I run out of time).

I was a little bit low Mojo after a little gain, but reading other people's experiences and realising I'm not alone helps. Misery need company and all that.

Someone upthread mentioned removing the skin from chicken - ther's no need and it is delicious!
I lost my half lb gain so that was great - if anything drops between now and Monday it will be a bonus!

B: Creamy coffee
L: Chaffel (3 egg, almond flour and cheese, on leaves (80% of bag of salad leaves) with greek yogurt on top and olive oil dressing. Absolutely delish)
D: Roast chicken, roast spiced cauli, french beans. coleslaw.
Dessert: greek yogurt with peanut butter (1Tsp), mint tea with 2 squares of 75% chocolate.
2 .5L of water

Summery1 · 05/11/2020 23:44

Thanks for the recipe tip Biwi. I had to think about roasting veg [duh] as I usually think 'I'm hungry, what will I eat? And I want quick cook food!'
Green beans take 3 minutes at a rapid boil. It's only a little thought to do better. My fridge is stocked now so I'm in the zone!! Got to watch my portion sizes though of Greek Yogurt... Yum with peanut butter.

Can I ask how my husband is managing to lose weight by loosely following this woe but not doing proper BC? He eats the same dinner as me and usually has an omelette for breakfast, but he has a beer most days, occasionally eats normal bread or a biscuit and still has sugar in his coffee. He works at his desk all day so not doing loads of exercise and yet he is consistently losing a couple of pounds per week.
i want to stamp my feet at the unfairness of it all
