Leaving Lockdown Low Carb Bootcamp - last weigh-in!

BIWI · 03/08/2020 07:19

Morning all

Very much looking forward to finding out how everyone has done so here's the Spreadsheet for its last outing

I had hoped, when I started this Bootcamp, that we would have left lockdown properly by now, rather than being in this weird kind of limbo that we find ourselves in. But hopefully it has achieved its objective, of getting us all a bit more focused and healthy, rather than just eating and drinking ourselves to death before the virus could do that!

We will, of course, carry on - I'll keep the thread going and when it's finished, we'll start another one. Just because the ten weeks is up doesn't mean that the diet has ended Grin

Here's to a good result on the scales this morning Flowers

Reporting in for my Monday weigh in. Sts this week, and annoyingly, only 200g lighter than fully 6 weeks ago when I took a break while I had guests. I had guests agin this week and it's been hard to keep at it with them here. Still, at least I'm not putting on weight, and I'm in the zone.

Takingontheworld · 21/09/2020 08:18

In the zone with you mimosa. Stuntnun definitely refocused me with the dairy thing and i feel SO determined now.

188 on the scales this AM. Have decided to stop the hopping on and off. I will place them in one place, and step on them just once. Whatever that weight is, I'll accept even if i think there's a chance i might be lighter 3cm to the left facing the other way

That's 2 stone 7 on the nose for me today. 7lbs till I'm in the 12s. I haven't been in the 12s for 8 years.

MrsKoala · 21/09/2020 10:30

Hi all. I’ve weighed this morning and have put on 6lb. Which is not too bad as I was told it’s usual to put on approx 5lb - with the implants being 1-2 and the rest inflammation/swelling etc.

But, with the recovery, 3 birthday celebrations and a couple of weekends away in the last 4 weeks I have had a lot of carb creep and cake. So I am going to go back to full BC as of tomorrow for 2 weeks.

Oneborneverydecade · 21/09/2020 13:06

I can't wait for Boot Camp to begin. I've been so good for a couple of months but it's really stalled recently. The worst thing I've probably eaten in that time is a nibble of one of the DCs bagel. Once.
@takingontheworld we're quite similar I think, though I'm hovering on 13st 8. I'd love to be 12st something.
I might keep a journal and ask you to evaluate @BIWI please?
I have lost 2st so should be celebrating but it's disheartening when it slows ay

Oneborneverydecade · 21/09/2020 13:07

Good luck @mrskoala!

StuntNun · 21/09/2020 13:19

If anyone's struggling with motivation then quite a few people on here use the Happy Scale app. It smooths out the ups and downs in your weight loss so that you can focus on the trend without getting bogged down in day-to-day variation. It also breaks your weight loss down into milestones and then predicts how long until you reach one. It can be very motivating to see that you'll reach a target on x date. It might even encourage you to try harder/resist temptation because you want to try and move that milestone date to even sooner. For example if you were predicted to reach a milestone in early January then you might decide to have a few weeks of strict Bootcamp so that you can bring it to before Christmas (and then aim to maintain over the Christmas period.)

Takingontheworld · 21/09/2020 13:41

Oneborn, lets get into those 12s together!

Just ate a streaky bacon, leek & cheese omlette. Was lush and just what i needed after a 3.5mile dog walk.

Mimosa1 · 21/09/2020 15:52

Thanks @StuntNun I will try it. I have a sneaking fear that my yo-yo dieting has ruined my metabolism but I don't even know what that means. I know losing weight takes time and even 1/2 kg a month is 6kg a year so I shall give myself a stern talking to.

StuntNun · 21/09/2020 16:06

Mimosa have you tried intermittent fasting? Your metabolism isn't ruined but you might need to try different approaches than someone who is more metabolically flexible. In my experience people with a history of yo-yo dieting often find it harder to kickstart weight loss but once it starts coming off it keeps coming off. However you may have a lower carb tolerance so need to be stricter.

BIWI · 22/09/2020 13:52

That's really interesting @BrassicaBabe!

Thanks @StuntNun I'm going to give it a try for a week and see what happens. Instead of having a "weight" goal for the first time, I've got a "date" goal - sticking with it til Christmas. Only a couple more kilos til I've lost the baby weight again and evening though I'll still be overweight, it will be a fab feeling. Thanks for recommending Happy Scale btw, it's great.

Oneborneverydecade · 22/09/2020 14:02

Happy Scale isn't available on android Sad

Takingontheworld · 22/09/2020 14:40
That is interesting!!

Unrelated but what is going on with vanity sizing? makes me realisw i was probably a 20 not an 18

Have bought size 12 dugarees which are a perfect, loose fit, bought two size 16 shirts in sainbsurys that were comfortable still pull over the boobs as always .... bought a non lined green coat thing (like is a coat but also not!?) And the 14 was huge so bought a 12..... but then i could only just do up a pair of size 16 smart ASOS trousers.... yet a different pair of black asos trousers are now too big, also size 16!?

How the heck am i supposed to shop efficiently online!?

20bloodypounds · 22/09/2020 18:24

The James Cracknell stuff is interesting, but I saw another thread where non-informed posters called it dangerous. I was converted to low carb after reading exercise science papers which showed that even the leanest athlete could run a marathon fuelled by body fat.

Last week dh was watching the tour de France and there was a long discussion by the presenters about the technicalities of fat-fuel and low carb for cycling. Dh thought it was boring and went for a pee break. I thought it was the only interesting part of the programme.

I don't think dh has realised that when I feed him eggs, cream, butter, sausage and fried mushrooms before a long cycle that he is being managed by a sports nutrition expert 😂😂

I've got 2 weeks clear of no house guests (assuming no ban on households mixing) so I'm having a proper push ok strict BC. Hope everyone is well.

Takingontheworld · 23/09/2020 09:12

Had a humongous row with dh thats left me very sad and tired (combination of things) and super pissed off. Ended up face planting 2 muffins and curly wurly 🤦‍♀️ so annoyed with myself. Its like i just go into self sabotage mood.

Back on it today but really really struggling with tiredness

StuntNun · 23/09/2020 10:19

That sounds tough Taking it's a shame that comfort eating does actually seem to help when you're down or stressed. Get back on the wagon and you'll be okay.

Mimosa1 · 23/09/2020 10:31

Men! Sorry to hear you had a hard time @Takingontheworld. Don't be like me and let one day turn into two weeks of eating rubbish!

Oneborneverydecade · 23/09/2020 16:41

Hope you're doing better @takingontheworld CV19 will have put a lot of couples under pressure
How were the treats? Please tell me they were delicious?

Takingontheworld · 23/09/2020 17:12

They were delicious! But definitely not worth it as such...
Angry eats are never as good as happy eats though are they!

Jdhshekr · 23/09/2020 21:32

I’ve got a question for you low carb ladies:

I’ve been doing keto for a couple of months now. I’ve noticed that if I cheat even slightly - we’re talking breaded halloumi Which I ordered assuming that it was t breaded - I get terrible diarrhoea the next day. Does this happen to everyone? It’s making me stick to it more carefully because I don’t want the shits.

BIWI · 23/09/2020 22:24

I don't know, but I think that would suggest that you have an intolerance to wheat.

OP posts:
Takingontheworld · 23/09/2020 22:46

I get incredible pain when i eat carbs now- not quite as sensitive as that, i could get away with breaded halloumi or a couple of chips, but a few slices of garlic bread and ill be in pain the following day. I presume lc has unmasked an intolerance.
