Leaving Lockdown Low Carb Bootcamp - last weigh-in!

Morning all

Very much looking forward to finding out how everyone has done so here's the Spreadsheet for its last outing

I had hoped, when I started this Bootcamp, that we would have left lockdown properly by now, rather than being in this weird kind of limbo that we find ourselves in. But hopefully it has achieved its objective, of getting us all a bit more focused and healthy, rather than just eating and drinking ourselves to death before the virus could do that!

We will, of course, carry on - I'll keep the thread going and when it's finished, we'll start another one. Just because the ten weeks is up doesn't mean that the diet has ended Grin

Here's to a good result on the scales this morning Flowers

Lack of sleep really does make weight-loss harder. What you said about cortisol levels explains this - thanks.

(Not DCs causing the trouble here- DH has had a few bizarre accidents recently and the cracked/broken bits of him make him restless and prone to shouting-out on turning-over. I'd be more sympathetic if less tired.)

BIWI · 17/09/2020 07:13

@20bloodypounds

I've managed to lose 2 of the 20 extra lockdown pounds. Only 18 more to go.

I think the trick for me is keeping busy. Boredom has me opening the fridge looking for something to do (and the only answer I find in there is to eat something - what a surprise!) I've got a friend's dog staying this week so every time I'm mindlessly heading for the fridge I pick up his lead and take him for a walk around the block.

Then you need to make sure that the only things in your fridge that you can eat are low carb-friendly!

Okay, today is dairy free. Really must try to remember! Grin i feel its gonna be easy to slip up!

Can we have a round up of fave dairy free meals? Ive got streaky bacon, chicken breasts, salmon and beef mince in the house. Plenty of veg, lacking inspo.

20bloodypounds · 17/09/2020 08:28

Thai food is usually dairy free. Lemongrass, corriander, chilli, lime.... Add coconut for creaminess.

Or Chinese style stir fry...

Mimosa1 · 17/09/2020 10:50

Baked sea bass with white wine, fennel and lemon - dairy free and yummy. Make a parcel with silver foil, pour a little bit of white wine, fennel, olive oil and lemon, and some herbs of your choice over the fish, salt and pepper, wrap it all up and bake for 20-25mn. Heaven.

Takingontheworld · 17/09/2020 13:28

Mmm both great suggestions. I love lemongrass.

Just made chilli, fished mine out before adding tinned toms and beans to keep carb content down, had with half a large avocado. Turned out i major overdid the spice so I'm really missing the sour cream and cheese while my lips are on fire 🤣

MavisEnderby74 · 18/09/2020 08:33

Hi all, I'm relatively new to low carbing and wondering what soft drinks people would recommend? I don't drink alcohol, but would have had something like appletiser, fevertree lower cal tonic water or Roses lime cordial and soda as a "treat" at the weekend, but these still seem high in carbs. I can taste most artificial sweeteners so don't like "diet" drinks. Any suggestions?

20bloodypounds · 18/09/2020 09:28

This week I bought M&S sparkling spring water with a hint of cucumber and mint. Very refreshing.

I sometimes use herbal teabags, infuse them in a tiny bit of boiling water then cool and top up with soda / sparking water.

Hopeislost · 18/09/2020 10:37

@MavisEnderby74 I make a pot of strong peppermint tea, allow to cool, then pop in a jug with water, ice and lemon slices.

There are also drinks you can buy that are just flavoured water (no sweetener). I like them for a treat or if other people are drinking. There's lots of brands - Ugly, Dash, Le Joli, La Croix.

Hopeislost · 18/09/2020 10:39

I have just updated my weight in the spreadsheet (is anyone else still doing this?). I only lost 7.75lb during the actual Bootcamp, but am now up to 15lb loss overall Smile

Mimosa1 · 18/09/2020 11:06

That's brilliant, @Hopeislost ! I've been doing that mental math of if I lose 1lbs / week til Christmas, what will I weight? 0.5lbs? Etc. Very inspired to hear you've stuck with it. I saw some rather unflattering photos of me yesterday so determined to keep it up...

Hopeislost · 18/09/2020 11:30

Thanks @Mimosa1 ! I'm using the Happy Scale app which makes predictions about when I'll reach different milestones. At my current rate it says I'll reach my goal weight in March 2021!

Congrats!!
Takingontheworld · 18/09/2020 13:54

i very briefly saw 190 on the scales again this morning. Got back on 2 m later and its was 191.6 🙄

Are all scales like this!? I bought them new when bootcamp started.

AWryGiraffe · 18/09/2020 19:09

I got back from a few days away at the seaside and haven't dared weigh myself since. It's been over a week! Will stick to the plan for a little while and then test the damage.

Ispywithmycynicaleye · 18/09/2020 23:42

Thanks @StuntNun I stopped the fat fast and took inspiration from the recipes posted.
Today I had butter and garlic prawns with zoodles. That filled me right up and tonight I made medium steak, charred asparagus with mixed green veg (sprouts, green beans, broccoli) smothered in keto friendly mustard pepper sauce! O.M.G I love the sauce!!

@Takingontheworld yes yes yes!! Bloody scales!!
I weighed myself 2 days ago - 15st 4lb
Weighed myself yesterday morning 15st 10lb, weighed myself this morning 14st 10lb 🙈l🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Takingontheworld · 19/09/2020 07:35

Fucking hell ispy i couldn't cope with that much variation!

This happened!! Twice, then i tried to take a closer photo and it showed 190 again 🙄

BUT I SEEENS IT. 🤣 i broke the 180s. Maybe 🤣

(Saved you from my unpolished toes cos lord knows its too early for that)

Ispywithmycynicaleye · 19/09/2020 09:44

Ok so just realised I forgot to change my username back to Buffy. Would it be awkward to change it now or just stay as Ispy Grin

@Takingontheworld You definitely did break into the 180's!! And I definitely did break into the 14st's!! I just need to find that sweet spot again on my kitchen floor 😂

I had so so many Jim Beams last night, but made the steak dinner to avoid eating rubbish.

Takingontheworld · 19/09/2020 10:16

Oh I've done that before, i asked MNHQ to edit as i was so invested in the thread 🤣

I hope so buffy, I've been dairy free for 2 days on stunts advice which has been helpful in terms of really having to focus rather than going through motions of eating my usual go tos.

I've also started using a fasting app to accurately track my fasting so i can see how much variation there is across the week.

Feeling pretty focused.

We've got a pub lunch today so not sure if that'll still be dairy free but i imagine so. We dont usually go unless on a sunday for a roast so unsure yet what I might have.

Really hoping I see the 12s soon!

Actually I've got a question. So for arguments sake I'm 189. (🙄🤣) on my scales that when it connects to the app it says 13 stone 7.

However if i go onto google and ask for pounds to stone conversion, and type in 189, it says 13.5 🤔

Leaving Lockdown Low Carb Bootcamp - last weigh-in!
Mimosa1 · 19/09/2020 11:01

No idea on the conversion ok afraid @Takingontheworld!

I laughed through gritted teeth at the scale variations. I'm the same. I now line the scales up very carefully along a specific bathroom tile so it's consistent.

Sts this week but my "official" weigh in day is Monday so 2 more days to shift things a bit.

StuntNun · 19/09/2020 12:15

Taking there are 14 pounds in a stone so 14 stone 7 pounds is the same as 14 and a half stone or 14.5 stone. So 14.5 stone means 14 stone 7 pounds and not 14 stone 5 pounds. Not sure that makes it any clearer really! Confused

Takingontheworld · 19/09/2020 12:45

Ohhh i see

Damn it. Thought id lost a couple extra there 🤣

Ah well. 34 lbs down. 34 more to go!

Takingontheworld · 20/09/2020 10:09

190 on the scales again this AM, so i feel safe thinking that inexplicable 3lb gain that came on from running has finally shifted. Now i just reallllly wanna push on to see 12st something soon!

Ifeelmuchlessfat · 20/09/2020 18:30

I’d been doing pretty well until this weekend.
Three quarters of a Colin the caterpillar and half a bottle of champagne will come back to bite me 😬
Bloody hell sugar is addictive. Once you start it’s hellish difficult to stop.

Yep. Going to bed. I've had one packet of mini jammie dodgers. But that one packet, within tolerance probably because I'm at/about maintenance, means I face plant into the whole multi pack! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
