Leaving Lockdown Low Carb Bootcamp - last weigh-in!

BIWI · 03/08/2020 07:19

Morning all

Very much looking forward to finding out how everyone has done so here's the Spreadsheet for its last outing

I had hoped, when I started this Bootcamp, that we would have left lockdown properly by now, rather than being in this weird kind of limbo that we find ourselves in. But hopefully it has achieved its objective, of getting us all a bit more focused and healthy, rather than just eating and drinking ourselves to death before the virus could do that!

We will, of course, carry on - I'll keep the thread going and when it's finished, we'll start another one. Just because the ten weeks is up doesn't mean that the diet has ended Grin

Here's to a good result on the scales this morning Flowers

20bloodypounds (my mantra for the day). Yep, I’m still horrified by it. This morning I’d eaten a slice of bloody toast before I even remembered this is day one. FFS. Before April, I hadn’t eaten bread for years, now I’m snuffling in the bread bin like a truffle seeking pig before I even have my eyes open. And yes, still doing the high fat bit of LCHF. Anyway. After a good talking to and a bit of self flagellation with the big stick I’ve drunk my water, eaten my greens and not had any more shite. Lunch was 98% pork sausages, scrambled egg and spinach. Dinner is beef stew with mushrooms, shallots, green pepper, celery, spinach, and some cheesy broccoli on the side. Then kitchen is closed and I’ve stuck a huge pink post it on the bread bin for the morning telling me to keep my paws out of it.

@Takingontheworld

(Before anyone jumps to tell me that this is a v high calorie dinner - even though we don't count kcals) I've been fasting all day and doing housework so ended up being only meal, hence 3 sausages! 😳
Why would anyone jump on you for a high calorie meal?!

Glad you enjoyed the cauliflower cheese!

There's leftovers and I'm VERY excited 🤣

Actually can we reheat it if it's made with cream? Might be a daft Q...

BIWI · 07/09/2020 08:41

Yes, you can re-heat it! Grin

Aweebitporky · 07/09/2020 09:23

Today got off to a better start. I've had some FF greek yogurt, and have a big tuna salad in the fridge for lunch. Till then I'll be pretty occupied lurching from MS teams to Zoom and back again, so hopefully an easy morning food-wise.

NoraEphronsneck · 07/09/2020 09:25

Morning everyone, I'm up 2lbs this week but expected that because I went out Saturday for meal and had carb-heavy meal plus lots of G&T.
As I go out rarely I try not to worry and have what I fancy rather than clocking carbs.
.
Amazingly, I've noticed on this WOE that even if I have a drink, I don't crave the crap food that usually goes with it. Previously I'd often go out for a meal, get drunk and come home and have cheese on toast at midnight Blush

Laska2Meryls · 07/09/2020 10:05

Hi all dropping back in .. I am still pretty much following bootcamp light but some nuts and wine have crept back in .. Still the same as end of BC weight so therefore I am maintaining ( which is actually good news because I know that I can sustain this woe after I finish losing).. But next week we are off for a much looked forward to short break in our van and I imagine that some days we will eat out.. So it will have to be strict BC when I get back.. I have kept the almost 1.5 stone off and would like to lose at least 10lbs more yet..
When is the next ' official' BC starting BIWI? Im not going to wait for that after my holiday, but I m only really on MN for BC and one other thread, so dont want to miss the start date.. Smile

Takingontheworld · 07/09/2020 10:17

2 runs in and a shed load of gardening and scales are showing 3lbs up, but then promptly conked out needing replacement batteries so I'm assuming that's crap.

But now... i have no batteries. This is every daily weighers nightmare 🤣

20bloodypounds · 07/09/2020 11:37

Salmon and oriental veg for dinner, with cauli rice. And no wine!

BIWI · 07/09/2020 12:20

@Laska2Meryls

Next one will start some time in October. Usually mid-month.

Waving and smiling to old friends and new :)

The new normal has begun with termtime.

Have yet to weigh myself (I feel heavier but clothes still fit) but have stayed low-carb (bootcamp lite) most days and most weeks .

The recipes on here have become our usual family fare. (Mmmm to cauli cheese and sausages!)

What I have added (by losing the division between weekends and weekdays) is more wine - something to correct for future week-days.

Has everyone found that bootcamp did really change your tastes?

To me old sweet treats are not as delicious they used to be and have not been a huge hurdle/temptation even when offered more often during all the summer meet-ups here. I so hope that this feeling remains.

Oatmeal is still oddly attractive and I do sometimes hanker for wholemeal bread or red lentil dahl or mashed potatoes... but not the calorie-counting that might have to come with them.

Rshard · 07/09/2020 20:14

Had one of my favourite low carb meals for dinner; chicken with mushrooms in a creamy sauce. Served with broccoli and cauliflower rice, perfect for this time of year.

I feel exactly the same.

I'm usually very partial to an ice-cream or ice-lolly. I've been tempted twice - a 99 from the ice-cream van with all the trimmings a usually-delicious Crunchie ice-lolly. I couldn't finish either, just not very enjoyable at all.

I'm living on raspberrries and cream as my treat.

I measured myself yesterday pre surgery to find I’d lost 3 inches on my bust and 2 on my hips so I was 38 28 38, despite no more actual weight loss. Which is good because that gives room for my boob expansion into my clothes.

Surgery went well and a little sore but as H was about to leave to pick me up and he got a call saying his dad has died. So terrible timing as usual. :(

Takingontheworld · 08/09/2020 14:35

Glad surgery went well mrskoala. Condolences to your husband Flowers

So I'm 2lbs up still after 2 runs which is so annoying as I've been good as gold. A few people have no suggested that exercise isn't recommended on low carb diets etc as it can slow weight loss? Is there any truth in this? If so i need to prioritise weight loss for now really.

Rshard · 08/09/2020 14:48

Glad to hear your surgery went well mrskoala, but sorry to hear about your fil.

I’m not sure about running impeding weight loss taking, there are a few of us on boot camp who run, so I expect someone will know the science.

StuntNun · 08/09/2020 14:49

Taking not true at all, exercise is perfectly fine on low carb. If you're doing any kind of endurance aerobic exercise such as running or cycling then you may experience a temporary drop in performance in up to the first three months while the fat adaption process happens. Running won't help you lose weight though, unless you're running 25 miles a week or more or you're a bloke. And in the short-term it can cause temporary weight gain if you have any muscle soreness as water retention occurs to cushion the damaged tissue.

I think that's nonsense @Takingontheworld! No reason on earth why I can think low carbing would impede weight loss.

Exercise is a very small part of weight loss anyway - it’s diet that you need to focus on. Not to say exercise isn’t good for you, but don’t count on that to deliver weight loss.

MrsKoala · 08/09/2020 15:15

Thanks all. It was expected ( tho not today) so it’s part relief really, although h is sad as well, but dementia took fil a look time ago.

Regarding exercise - I find (as on this BC) the weight comes off easier when I do no exercise. But the inch losses are the same and my body looks better, stronger and more toned. So as everyone knows I’m all about the vanity and I don’t give a monkeys what the scales say as long as I look better.

Wormthatturned · 08/09/2020 15:45

Agree, I don't crave sugary treats which now taste unbearably sweet, however my nemesis is fruit. At the moment plums are perfect, cherry tomatoes are just waiting to be picked and popped in my mouth, hedgerow blackberries have ended up in a crumble and apples keep dropping at my feet begging to be stewed. I'm a disaster zone - but it won't last for long.

Wormthatturned · 08/09/2020 15:48

Sorry, I've obviously got a bit out of synch with these posts! Glad you're ok Mrs K and hope your DH is ok too.

BIWI · 08/09/2020 17:11

Sorry for your loss @MrsKoala - and for your H obviously - but it must be something of a relief as well [Flowers]
