Leaving Lockdown Low Carb Bootcamp - last weigh-in!

BIWI · 03/08/2020 07:19

Morning all

Very much looking forward to finding out how everyone has done so here's the Spreadsheet for its last outing

I had hoped, when I started this Bootcamp, that we would have left lockdown properly by now, rather than being in this weird kind of limbo that we find ourselves in. But hopefully it has achieved its objective, of getting us all a bit more focused and healthy, rather than just eating and drinking ourselves to death before the virus could do that!

We will, of course, carry on - I'll keep the thread going and when it's finished, we'll start another one. Just because the ten weeks is up doesn't mean that the diet has ended Grin

Here's to a good result on the scales this morning Flowers

I’ve only just worked out that C25K is 5k, not 25k. I was previously thinking jeez, there are some really super fit low carbers on here. Not that there aren’t, nor there aren’t those that can do 25, but I suddenly feel so much better Grin

Big fan of 5. And now addressing some resistance as I have zero muscle, but it has put on around 5lbs (on top of LC major slippage just like BIWI warns)...

Mimosa1 · 02/09/2020 07:48

Checking in. Our last houseguest leaves tomorrow and it's been lovely but slightly tricky on the diet. I haven't lost any weight but not put much on - 500g in 10 days or so which I'm confident will drop off over the next few days. Onwards.

Ifeelmuchlessfat · 02/09/2020 08:34

Checking in too.

Taking you’ve been really successful over this boot camp, well done on your significant weight loss! I’m at about 1.75 stone and would love to lose another one or so.

I’m in a really good place atm. I’ve been away a couple of times in August, and the summer holidays are the time traditionally that I balloon mainly due to excessive alcohol and the corresponding‘treats’, but this year I’m actually a kilo or two down due I think to the IF, and staying low carb despite the booze. Difficult to be precise but I weighed less on 1/09 than I did on 1/08 and that’s not happened for many years. And I’m excited to see where this will take me as I’ve fewer reasons to go off piste...

Good to see you’re all still here and koko...

Wormthatturned · 02/09/2020 08:47

Hello everyone, just checking in after holidays. Some of you are doing so well - inspiring. For myself, it's been a bit less impressive. I have found that our little British seaside camping jaunts have been the enemy of low carb and now, full of chips and ice cream, I'm bracing myself to go through the pain of re-set. On the plus side. I've actually only gained 3lb so it's not a total disaster.
It was amazing and unpleasant to feel hungry again even though I was eating plenty. I'm looking forward to getting back to my non-starving bootcamp self.
Wine most evenings didn't help the diet but it certainly made the camping less arduous! Anyway, back in my comfy home so time to rein that back too.
I hope you're all getting to enjoy a little of what this unusual summer has had to offer!

Threeoleary · 02/09/2020 09:40

Just wanted to check in. I’m on the spreadsheet but never managed to put in my weight. Anyhoo, I’ve stuck to the eating plan and have lost 21 lbs! Very pleased, another few pounds to go. The best thing is that I’ve lost my addiction to sugar. DH has lost a similar amount although he struggles a little more with the lack of potatoes and fruit.

Thanks for all the information on here. Smile

AthelstaneTheUnready · 02/09/2020 10:03

Also checking in. No more lost this week, but no more gained so that's ok.

Hopeislost · 02/09/2020 10:13

Well done to everyone that is KOKO. My weight has been fairly static the last few weeks due to some minor indiscretions, but I have tightened the reins and am already another 1lb down.

ealingwestmum · 02/09/2020 12:34

Back on the Caesar salads with chicken or salmon this week. Taste good after a long break. A good NSV here of blood sugar going down from 44 to 42. Still just in the pre-diabetic zone but a very complimentary bloods phone review with doc who was really pleased overall and wholly supportive of this WOE.

Are you doing Bootcamp? If so, then I'm afraid you don't pass!

First - where's your breakfast? First two weeks of Bootcamp you have to have three meals a day, one of which is breakfast

Second - I don't think you're eating enough fat. Did you have an oily dressing on your salad? How did you cook your veg - you said the mushrooms were fried in butter, but what about the rest of the veg?

Third - no nuts on Bootcamp. However, it looks like you might be a vegetarian, in which case that's OK.

And finally, how much water are you drinking?

@longsigh

I'm sorry - I forgot to say hello and welcome! Flowers

We may have finished this Bootcamp but we're all still here and will be chatting away until the next one starts (which will be some time in October), so post any questions or observations you like Smile

Meant to come on earlier this week to say I have hit the 14stone mark - I'm so chuffed - from a 16-2 starting point.

I'm wondering though what to eat for lunch as the weather gets colder. I love a salad (with various proteins added) but don't think it will cut it in the winter. And there are only so many egg-based meals I can eat!

I was thinking roasted veg as a base alternative but a) not as quick to make in a hurry and b) roasted veg is potentially higher in carbs. Any suggestions gratefully received.

NoraEphronsneck · 03/09/2020 11:22

And my NSV is that I have had a compliment from a different acquaintance every day this week!

Hopeislost · 03/09/2020 11:28

@NoraEphronsneck Well done on the loss! (And the compliments!)

I too am finding that salad isn't cutting it as the weather's getting cooler. I'm looking at how to make some of my favourite soups low carb. I feel a lot of creamy soups will be in order! Might try and make the fathead rolls too to go with them.

Takingontheworld · 03/09/2020 11:42

Oo interested in warmer lunches also.

Builder just turned up and said "wow have you lost weight"

YES I FUCKING HAVEEEEE THANK YOU!
only bugger to have mentioned it so far Grin

Takingontheworld · 03/09/2020 11:43

Nora thats great!!! We are v similar. I started at 15.13. How tall are you? Xx

NoraEphronsneck · 03/09/2020 12:06

Takingontheworld I'm 5ft 2in so still a long way to go. Could probably easily lose another 4 or 5 stone just to be within healthy range - but not thinking that far ahead.

Hopeislost thanks! Is there a recipe for fathead rolls in our google doc or could you point me in right direction please?

Takingontheworld · 03/09/2020 14:08

Snap! I'm just comfortably in 16s now, which makes me realise how tight my 18s were...

longsigh · 03/09/2020 20:01

@BIWI
Thanks for the welcome.
Yes I'm a vegetarian, drink loads of water but I never eat breakfast- sorry!
I steamed the other veg and didn't have any dressing on my salad
I'll up my fat- i had a whole avocado with eggs for tea today and cheese salad and mayo for lunch.
Thanks for the advice 👍

BIWI · 03/09/2020 21:28

Make sure you read Bootcamp rules, @longsigh - look at those on the spreadsheet (linked in the OP) as well as the resources on the tabs to tell you more about Bootcamp and what it's all about.

Slinking back in and clambering back on the wagon! Glad to see so many folk still around.

Now that Ocado have fallen out with Waitrose, can anyone suggest an alternative for Waitrose’s
lush Greek yoghurt please?

BuffyTheBuffetSlayer · 04/09/2020 12:59

Hi, can I also join in? This is my 3rd day of fat fasting but I plan on going back to keto tomorrow.

Hopeislost · 04/09/2020 14:54

NSV - I have packed up all of my maternity clothes. I do miss throwing on tent-like t-shirts and baggy trousers but it was starting to get a bit ludicrous!

I have bought myself a few new bits of clothing (M&S high-waisted jeggings are v flattering and £15!) and since wearing stuff that actually fits, the weight loss is more noticeable!

Takingontheworld · 04/09/2020 18:40

Hi buffy! Like no food for 3 days!!??

Hope that's fab!!

Was told i look great/really well by 3 seperate mums at school gate today! Spurring me on!

I'm cautiously considering buying some jeans in 14s to aim for. .
