Leaving Lockdown Low Carb Bootcamp - week 9

Morning all! Nice, bright and early today because I woke up at stupid o'clock Smile

As ever, here's the spreadsheet

Just two weeks left!

Hopefully we're all in the swing of things, but if you've found things slowing or slipping a little, why not go back to strict Bootcamp for these last two weeks?

It's very easy to let the carbs slip back into the daily menu, so a focused effort on keeping them at bay might be a good plan.

How do you make your langoustines venus?

You’ve just reminded me the seafood van is in the neighbouring village today so I might nip down to see them. It’s not a boat, but I’m nowhere near a coast, unfortunately.

All good ChezShagMe. Very heavy work load but since I couldn’t see clients until recently I’m eating up all the business I can.

Looks like our holiday won’t be happening—combination of passport taking much longer than usual and also a surprising reluctance on my part to navigate Covid regs in a foreign language/country. Just feels a bit much for the whopping nine days my husband could get before starting his new role.

Maybe just some days/overnights here and there instead. I do need to see a beach, very soon. I need the sea.

Happy news is tomorrow I’m going to pick up my new car. A glorious convertible. Finally, after all these years (when my husband “broke” the convertible I’d had shipped over from the States)...I get a soft top back in my life. Convertible Hair is ready to go! Grin

Ps—I’ve dropped two lbs. Looks like I’ve finally decided to get in the swing of things.

I like the idea of BC FB group

Sorry for stressful time Ragwort

Laska2Meryls · 23/07/2020 15:32

Im not on facebook , so I wouldnt ..

venusandmars · 23/07/2020 15:44

shag huge pan of already boiling water, with lots of salt. Drop the wriggling creatures in and when it comes back to the boil cook for 5 minutes. Drain and leave to cool in their own steam.

Peel and eat with mayonnaise, or warm gently in garlic butter, or warm gently in a tomato/fennel/basil sauce. Or add to a mild curry (just at the last moment).

Takingontheworld · 23/07/2020 15:44

Shagme, congrats on the loss!

Ragwort I'm sorry to hear you've had a stressful time.

I find it much easier to back on track on this WOE somehow..i hope you do too. No guilt over the comfort eats xx

venusandmars · 23/07/2020 15:45

I do sometimes peel them raw for other recipes, but these critters are so fresh that they are moving and I don't like ripping their heads off...

venusandmars · 23/07/2020 15:48

Interesting about comfort eating. I find so much comfort in an 'eggy peggy' childhood food which was boiled egg mashed with butter. Or a mug of butter/cream coffee - it's like a duvet in a mug.

Takingontheworld · 23/07/2020 16:27

Bit stressed. Dr wants to pull me in for bloods and exam. She says "not to worry" but wants to rule out ovarian cancer.

Great stuff. 😒

Rshard · 23/07/2020 17:05

Sounds very stressful ragwort, hope everyone is ok now.

Very jealous of the camper vans and the langoustines!

Enjoy the new car shagme, we’ve got an old mini convertible and it’s so much fun.

Blimey that’s scary information to process taking, I hope you’ve plenty of support irl?

Takingontheworld · 23/07/2020 17:08

Not going to let myself over think it. I'm sure it's just the diet doing something weird with my body. I can't be that unlucky. I've had enough shite in my lifetime!

Just gonna focus on koko and losing the weight for my health. X

Hmmm. I always just fry in butter.

With you on the mayonnaise, curry sounds like it could be interesting, and I’ll definitely pass by the tomato/fennel/basil Grin

Went to the fish van after all. No langoustines. Came back with two fresh lobsters, though. Oops.

BIWI · 23/07/2020 18:12

I'm sorry to hear that @Takingontheworld, but hopefully it's just a precautionary measure Flowers

Plus, more realistically, it would mean a lot more time for me to keep both MN and FB pages going. (And I spend enough time on social media as it is!)

Grin @ShagMeRiggins and the accidental Lobsters!

1WildTeaParty · 23/07/2020 18:29

Flowers @Ragwort and @Takingontheworld - you both deserve some better times ahead! Well done for KOKO despite everything.

Holiday plans similar here. We have a tiny pop-top caravan (I can spin it around -by hand- on our drive) and usually spend the end of August travelling in Europe (especially France) with teens/dogs/outdoor stuff...but hesitate to cope with the Covid19 regulations and worries.

Picnicing on the drive with some exciting French food, thrilling Spanish films, and a rain-proofed sunhat might be the best we get.

BrassicaBabe · 23/07/2020 18:44

I can eat a heap of runner beans right?

8Track · 23/07/2020 19:03

@BrassicaBabe 2.3g per 100 and in the Green section so I'd say go for it!!

8Track · 23/07/2020 19:06

Just finished a 13 hour day after I started work at half 5 after waking up at sunrise. Got a lot done!!

Food today -

  • leftover mince stroganoff on grated courgette (great maker, how MUCH water is in a grated courgette?!)
  • hot marmite
  • making an indian inspired feast - crispy skin chicken thighs, bombay celeriac and errrmmmm at least one type of curry made out of loads of veg. I forgot it was veg delivery day.....so have veg coming out my ears!!

(One week left in my current role, woop woop!!)

ealingwestmum · 23/07/2020 19:56

Ooh, getting nearer to my soon to be wake up time again of 04.50 8Track, though admittedly I don’t work from that early (I’m sure there was a other swim parent in the house too)? And I’m in the creative world now so don’t call that real work anymore.

I love chicken thighs, and only used to buy skin on if it was for coq au vin or something similar. I am really enjoying chicken skin again after years of thinking it evil, especially on the Sunday Roast. Thigh used to be cheap as chips in the 70’s vs breast. How things have changed!

ealingwestmum · 23/07/2020 19:56

...and best of luck with whatever is coming next!

Mimosa1 · 23/07/2020 19:59

@Takingontheworld try not to borrow trouble as my grandmother used to say. This woe can cause all sorts of digestive trouble initially in some people so fingers crossed it's just that.

ealingwestmum · 23/07/2020 19:59

And tbf, any part of the chicken was fair game to Indian households where a whole would be cut into parts using a weird floor foot knife 😳

SparklesAllOver · 23/07/2020 20:19

BIWI, do you live in the Caribbean? It sounds like you do, I spent several years cruising around the islands as an employee, such wonderful places!
