Leaving Lockdown Low Carb Bootcamp - week 9

BIWI · 20/07/2020 06:19

Morning all! Nice, bright and early today because I woke up at stupid o'clock Smile

As ever, here's the spreadsheet

Just two weeks left!

Hopefully we're all in the swing of things, but if you've found things slowing or slipping a little, why not go back to strict Bootcamp for these last two weeks?

It's very easy to let the carbs slip back into the daily menu, so a focused effort on keeping them at bay might be a good plan.

Hello again! my seaside break has set me back 3lb to the weight I was a month ago. I'm going to have to make a concerted effort for these next couple of weeks. Thanks for being here with your support, everyone.

8Track · 20/07/2020 07:09

Thanks for the new thread, @BIWI! Another early bird here, thanks to my scheduled shopping delivery! Worth getting up early for on a Monday.

Still full of roast pork from yesterday, I think I over ate - it was such a treat! 1lbs down this week, feeling good and have some nicely shrinking measurements. I'll be KOKO right now too @Wormthatturned - would love to be headed well on the way to a healthy weight before I see some friends in August.

Todays plan:
Smoked salmon scraps, soft boiled egg, lettuce, maybe some sauerkraut.
Undecided! Lots in, so whatever takes my lunchtime fancy.
Jambalaya for dinner- cauli rice, leftover chicken, left over pork, peppers (green for me, red for him!), spices and a squeeze of tomato puree. Probably with a bit of added garlic butter.

SulisMinerva · 20/07/2020 07:33

Checking in!
Had a good weekend foodwise - stuck to all low carb meals quite easily.
Tried a lo-dough base to bake a cheese toastie with. Worked ok but it’s quite bland and I think it’s something I might save for when I can’t cook easily.

Mimosa1 · 20/07/2020 07:54

1.5kg off for me this week - it's the end of week 1 for me. I've been doing BC lite so I'm really pleased with this. I'm within a whisker of being closer to the upper end of normal weight than the lower end of obese, so getting there is my goal for next week.

Laska2Meryls · 20/07/2020 08:28

Grrr.. I am still 1.5 lbs up from last Monday..Angry .... So its back to hardcore for me .......

Laska2Meryls · 20/07/2020 08:29

... I have still lost a stone so far though..

BrassicaBabe · 20/07/2020 08:49

Checking in. Half a lb off. Officially under goal by that half.

Ifeelfat · 20/07/2020 08:49

wormthatturned that will be me next week, I’m away this week and I’m going to drink probably every night, so whereas the food will be fine, the booze will push me over. My last week of this will definitely be bootcamp xtra lite to make up for it!

To be honest though I think it might do my body good to ring the changes - I’ve really been constantly on the move, walking 12k or more most days and eating hardly anything because I’m not hungry. If I need something then perhaps a slice of ham with cream cheese and coriander or similar is just enough. So frankly a 1lb weight loss isn’t huge... I wonder if every now and then we have to make changes to prevent the metabolism from grinding to a halt?

Anyway have a good week everyone, catch up with you all when I next get a signal.

Rshard · 20/07/2020 09:04

Morning all

Thanks for the new thread BIWI.

My pound off on Friday has thankfully stuck for today, yay!

Well done on getting to goal and under brassica!

My shop has come this morning too 8track, so nice to have a full fridge to start the week!

I’m going to do strict boot camp for the last two weeks I think, see if I can lose two more and get into the 10’s.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Hopeislost · 20/07/2020 09:21

Only 1.25lbs off for me which is disappointing as the scales were lower in the week but

  • I am back to my pre-pregnancy weight (which is still fat!)
  • My BMI is now under 30, so no longer obese merely overweight.
  • I've gone down into the next stone bracket.
venusandmars · 20/07/2020 09:58

1.5lbs off - worth making the effort to stick to all the rules.

dh has gone away camping for a few days (yeah - house to myself after 4 months of us both wfh). I'd normally leave him to sort his own food for a trip like that but instead I packed him off with all the carby things I could find, leaving me with eggs, tuna, veg, cheese, salad, soups, butter...

Brunch - mushroom and broccoli omelette with cheese and salad
Dinner - shakshuka

Freetodowhatiwant · 20/07/2020 10:36

Hello all, I’ve been quiet as I’m now in spain. My 10th day here and wow it feels so good to finally feel free again. I’ve been muddling through in terms of food and drink and not done too badly. It’s great to have restaurants on my doorstep and I have successfully low carbed in terms of food but have given in a bit to the wine some days. I AM mainly sticking to 16-8 too so that’s something.

I am 62kg on the button today so that means about 5kg lost since starting boot camp although I think my scales might be slightly lower here than my ones back home.

Will try to update spreadsheet later when I am on the laptop.

Oh and just been to the gym for the first time since March!! Again feels so good.

Eggbound · 20/07/2020 10:59

2lb off for me, which I'm more than happy with, since AF is due within the week, and I had a couple of weeks of not much movement weight-wise, and I had an Indian takeaway last night! (Tikka salmon and saag paneer, so I think still LCHF ...) It's five weeks in for me today and I've lost 9lb, and for three days have been in the next stone bracket. Smile

BrassicaBabe · 20/07/2020 11:05

Those are some huge achievements Hope! 🥳

Ninkanink · 20/07/2020 11:14

Hey everyone!! 🌷🌷

Skipped a week or two of posting as we’ve been making our big move! All settled into our new house now. 👍👍

I recorded a small loss last Monday and a further small loss today, taking me to a 4.3kg (9.479lbs) loss overall which I’m very happy with. I’ve had to go slightly off piste over the past week because it simply wasn’t feasible to be strict. It was such a big move and there have been problems with electrics etc in the kitchen so we’ve been really limited in what we can cook. But I’ve compensated by being very careful the rest of the time and always trying to pick the least worst options, iykwim.

Hope you all are well! Thanks as always for running bc, @BIWI. KOKO!

Ninkanink · 20/07/2020 11:15

(Oh that’s in 7 weeks as I’m 1 week behind everyone else)

Choux · 20/07/2020 11:24

1lb off for me this week which is week 3 for me. I know lots of you have plateaued in Wk 3-4 and my losses so far have been 4lb, 2lb, 1lb so feels a bit like the easy wins have been won and the hard yards start now.

But I feel ready for it. I have started fine tuning what am eating by checking the rules, have started trying some new recipes to stop if getting boring and have proved to myself that I can do 16:8, eat this way for an entire 3 weeks.

Am now 173lb so goal for next two weeks is to get under 170.

Well done to everyone KOKO even when life tries to get in the way.

Mimosa1 · 20/07/2020 11:57

For the people doing 16-8, would a cup of milky tea "count" as breaking the fast? I am a tea fiend and I struggle to face the day without one or two cups first thing, but then can quite happily wait to 1pm to start eating over lunch.
Thank you.

NoraEphronsneck · 20/07/2020 12:12

Mimosa1 unfortunately yes having milk does mean you've broken the fast.

I've stayed the same now as for the past two weeks so definitely plateaued. I think some of the carbier veg has found its way into my meals so will be going back to basics. 16/8 still working well though.

OneFootintheRave · 20/07/2020 12:18

Thanks for the new thread @BIWI. I have stayed static this week but I did have a massive cheat week due to friends being in town , a day trip with DP's clients and DPs birthday BBQ on Saturday. BUT, these days, massive cheats mean:
About 8 plain crisps.
A 3rd glass of champagne on Saturday (atm I am allowing myself 2 glasses of red on Fri/Sat/Sun).
A glass of red on the Tuesday.
4 glasses of wine on the Wednesday trip and I drank a small amount of milk in a coffee by mistake. Nibbled a small amount of a special nut cookie, (maybe 10g) AND a small corner of bread (again maybe 10g).
Some flour was clearly in the sauce of my Asian beef on Tuesday, I scraped most of it off but likely ate a bit.
A few more plain almonds than usual. Switching back to macadamias now.

Still sticking very much to the 16/8 though so compared to massive blow outs of the past, this was pretty tame. I do see how the wine an small carb creeps have impacted and will do better this week.

Well done everyone and KOKO.

Eggbound · 20/07/2020 12:42

Wanted to share this article because of the graph in it. I found the stall (and even weight increase!) of weeks 3 into 5 disheartening, as I know many do. This bloke hasn't lost weight doing LCHF - he can't have done, because he says he's been hungry every day! - but he has lost 2st in lockdown, and in early April started weighing every day. His weight loss graph is included in the article. Between April and mid-July, I counted over 20 times when his weight went up instead of down - but of course he still lost overall. This has buoyed me a bit after the last few week's sluggishness.

@Mimosa1, yes, milk breaks the fast. I think it has to be black tea, black coffee, herbal tea or infused water to not break the fast. I've been loading up a 750ml water bottle with a Twinings Cold Infuse bag each morning, and then breaking my fast around 11am with a coffee with 20ml double cream. I then have lunch at 1-2pm, and dinner by about 7-8pm.

Would an innocuous flavoured water like this work, so you're not having just water? Or if you don't like black tea, could rooibos be a palatable alternative?

SparklesAllOver · 20/07/2020 12:54

0.6lbs on for me this week, really disappointed as first gain since doing this WOE. Well done to fellow bootcampers!

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 20/07/2020 12:58

Hey everyone.

Well done for those still losing and hitting goal weights, awesome job.

I lost 3.6lbs of the 5lbs I put on when I stopped low carbing.

I'd hoped to lose it all just as quickly but hey ho. I've been hitting the cross trainer a fair bit so maybe it's muscle 😏

3 weeks to go to my holiday so I'm going to keep on to get as close to goal as I can before it all goes to pot while I'm away.

Thing101 · 20/07/2020 13:32

Hello! Well done to all the losers (!) and even more well done to those that STS or gained but are still on it - that's where my motivation can take a hit.

I've been a model student all week, but I haven't weighed yet as I've been feeling so well and content, I don't want anything to jeopardise that and a bad scales result would really not help me. So I'll carry on in blissful ignorance for now.
Someone mentioned celeriac remoulade earlier and I'm going to have a stab at that as it is divine - I will imagine I'm being served it in a swanky South France restaurant Grin
Have a great week everyone!

Choux · 20/07/2020 14:18

I mentioned celeriac remoulade. Here is a straightforward recipe although I've seen others that replace some of the mayo with cream or crème fraîche.

For those who have seen it in Waitrose their product has both honey and sugar in it so it's best to burn a few calories by chopping your own celeriac!
