Low Carb Bootcamp Ordinaire - Week 3

BIWI · 08/06/2020 07:15

Morning all!

The start of a brand new week. Hopefully it will be a better week - emotionally/psychologically - for us all.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to record your progress.

Hopefully we've all had a good couple of weeks, food and weight wise.

Be warned that we're now in week 3. Many, many, many low carbers (not just Bootcampers) find that the weight loss can slow or stop in this week (and also week 4)

If this happens to you DON'T PANIC! If you've been losing so far, then you know it works. Just KOKO (keep on keeping on) and things will get going again soon.

Good luck to us all [ flowers]

I'm certainly not ill

ExShield · 09/06/2020 08:31

Morning all!

My weigh in day is a Tuesday and I can report that I’m a whole 4lb down since the start, which isn’t massive but is fine. And am sleeping better and not snacking.

Moraxella · 09/06/2020 08:37

You’re all roughly the same height as me and I am 20lb more 😮 wake up call, changing my target weight drastically

Seriously dont do comparisons with other people.. I don't think its that helpful. Frame has a lot to do with what looks good also its much more daunting to add to your goal now . Just concentrate on getting to what looks good and re-evaluate then . Im large framed and 140 I look really skinny so im going for 147 which is about right f or me, but at my height, some people would think that far too much for them
Takingontheworld · 09/06/2020 08:54

Im 5'3 so v short and currently 15st 1.

Laska i had exactly this. I felt immediately better after the salt drink.

ShagMeRiggins · 09/06/2020 08:58

Laska I have had similar the last few days but assumed hay fever/sinus related. Paracetamol worked for me.

Laska2Meryls · 09/06/2020 09:00

So bravely im posting me before starting, so half a stone more, and I need to lose ovet a stone still , but it gives you an idea of what I mean .. so 147, which would be big on some wont be on me.

Morning, another 0.8kg off today, so not only am I in onederland pounds wise, in kilos my number begins with an eight. That is a huge milestone - for years my goal was to get to eighty something. Last year I briefly got to 82, so that is my goal.

Loving the chat! So many things I wanted to reply to, but have forgotten now.

Re the constant cooking - I love prepping a whole load of meals at once and listen to podcasts on my AirPods whilst I do it. Currently listening to Grounded by Louis Theroux, but I also like Thanks a Million with Angela Scanlon's.

A typical session will be homemade mayo, tipped into coleslaw; coriander and lime dressing @venusandmars; a soup; Greek salad; mango salsa (for the rest of the family) - also heavy on the coriander; and a main dish. I have an enviable collection of rectangular glass dishes with lids, and everything gets stacked up in an orderly pile in the fridge. It makes me very happy.

NigellaAwesome · 09/06/2020 09:08

Great legs @Laska2Meryls!

Laska2Meryls · 09/06/2020 09:11

Thanks! Thats kind, I carry all my weight up top... definite inverted triangle..

MrsGarethSouthgate · 09/06/2020 09:17

Woke up with cramp in both legs, so it was a violent start to the day as I thrashed about the bed shouting fuck for 30 seconds.

Had noticed last night the toes on my left leg were involuntarily curling up which I took as a sign all was not well.

Am guessing I need more salt? I don't really add it to food much as I have pre-hypertension but maybe I will have to for a couple of days to see if it makes a difference.

BIWI · 09/06/2020 09:29

@Laska2Meryls

Ive been going round the last 3 days with a slight headache , and swimmy heavy migrainey type eyesight. Is it electrolytes I need do you think? have added salt and lime to my water and have taken magnesium .. Any other tips ?
Sounds like it - more water, more fat and specifically more salt.

And take some paracetamol. No need to suffer!

Yes you do - but particularly you need magnesium. Might be worth getting a supplement as well as trying to get it from your food. (Or buy some electrolyte tabs)

Sorry - just read your post properly - if you have high blood pressure, are you on any medication for this?

Here's a piece from The Diet Doctor:

about hypertension and salt

Does your GP know that you're doing low carb?

Forgot to weigh yesterday so this morning jumped in the scales and pleased to report a 3lb loss.

However last night, I was a complete idiot and shoveled a piece of key lime pie in my gob, without thinking. Could have kicked myself!

Will be super strict again from today as do not want to fall off the wagon, which is normally what I'd do and give up.

Am taking photos each week and in the short time of doing LC, intermittent fasting and exercise, my body shape has changed so this is definitely working.

ShagMeRiggins · 09/06/2020 10:17

Laska I agree. I used to be interested in the height/weight comparisons when I was younger, and they do give a useful comparative starting point I suppose, but with time and experience I’ve observed so many different body types and such differences in how weight is distributed and carried, not to mention muscle v bone v fat.

The height/weight comparison has mostly lost its meaning—though someone at 6 feet and 16 stone will inevitably carry it better than someone at 5 feet and 16 stone—and even the sizes have become meaningless.

I still use numbers in a practical way, from tracking progress, but ultimately my body and my own eyes tell me what I need to know.

You look great by the way.

Seriously? At no point did you engage your brain to think about what you were doing? How big was that piece?

I also found that after having two children my body shape altered. I could definitely 'handle' more weight than pre-pregnancy. No idea why!

I'm a bit behind you NigellaAwesome - iirc just below 200lbs takes us into the onderland, gives a kilo weight in the 80s and drops us below 14 stone.

This is normally a wobble point for me, where self sabotage has kicked in. I feel I'm ahead of the game with that mentally at the moment and am working hard at keeping things that way.

Have a good day everyone.

Bloody hell, homeschooling is pushing me to the edge today. I am on a deadline for work and can't get a thing done without interruption. Just want to eat my bodyweight in chocolate!

Of course, I won;t but not sure my planned egg and tuna salad is going to cut it. FFS!!!

Randomfatty · 09/06/2020 12:00

morning all - another day of online learning - zoom for 9 hours is very tiring Sad
lunch - courgette and chorizo omelette with salad
dinner - kale and feta salad with chicken thighs and bacon

I'll also be making that coriander / lime mayo mentioned in last weeks thread but will add some red chilli as well!

weights session later and 'homework' again tonight!

moleeye · 09/06/2020 12:52

Feeling very on it today. Have meal planned for the whole week. Weighed myself this morning and am +1lb from yesterday. I know this is down to two reasons: I'm due on any day now, and I consumed far too much double cream yesterday!

I think I may finally be in 'the zone' and I feel really motivated. This thread keeps me going 😊

Made fajita bowls for dinner last night and just had the leftover mince with loads of salad.

I've made a butter chicken and sag paneer for dinner tonight (will roast some broccoli in garam masala and olive oil before dinner). Both recipes from the low carb threads, they taste YUM!

I fear there may be limited leftovers for my lunch tomorrow as the 5 year old just tried helped herself to a load of paneer!

bluelefant · 09/06/2020 13:08

I once used a recommended weigh calculator(can't think what website,it was ages ago) and it asked me to add 1kg for each child and I totally get it that you can carry more weigh once you've given birth.I notice it on my body.
