Evening campers!

Setting this up now, as I had a bad night last night so I'm sloping off to bed early

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Seriously - if you haven't had a look, explore all the different resources on the tabs

@Randomfatty

Hi all - been busy and not been able to post in the morning as usual. It’s good to hear about everyone’s losses as its quite motivating! Quick question - as we don’t count calories now, are we still keeping carbs under 60g or 40g *@BIWI* - just be useful so I can plan my meals. I’ll still be keeping with the IF as most days I’ve found it fairly easy and it’s good to feel hungry!
No - we don't count anything now. Just follow the rules, and particularly keep an eye on the veg you're eating - use the carb counter on the spreadsheet to guide you.

Also, as you become fat-adapted, you're very unlikely to be hungry, so IF will be easier

@SquishyBones

Breakfast - coffee with cream Lunch - some left over BBQ chicken wings and a chunk of left over pork joint Dinner - salmon fried it butter with cheesy cauliflower and broccoli.

Can’t say I enjoyed any of it as today I have lost my sense of taste and smell ... along with my appetite (I know, I’m monitoring it 😞)

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that, and hope very much that it isn't You Know What Sad
**@notacooldad - how much weight do you have to lose? You haven't entered anything on the spreadsheet
I have struggled on the spreadsheet with my ipad and phone. I am going to try my desk top or lap top.
I have 4 stone to lose. I've started at 14.2.
Have you downloaded the app?

Have you downloaded the app?
Heck, no! Ive missed that. I thought I was on the ball printing and laminating the rules.

Linnet · 01/06/2020 19:09

@BIWI

But *@Linnet* you won't be calorie counting any more, will you?!

From now on, it's about keeping the carbs low and the fat high. No need to count the calories.

I’m going to keep calorie counting until Thursday this week and the IF to give me the whole week. After that I might go back to eating 3 meals a day or I might keep up the IF and only do 2 but I’ll stop counting calories, I don’t like doing that.

I’m just not sure if I’ll manage until lunchtime without anything to eat once I go back to work. I’ll see how I’m doing at that point.

BrassicaBabe · 01/06/2020 19:17

BBQ pork chops didn't quite go to plan Hmm

ShagMeRiggins · 01/06/2020 19:30

@notacooldad

Hmm! I even hardly lost anything! My calories came in at just under 1000 everyday and I didn't have anything ogg the forbidden list. I felt a bit demotivated their morning but have shaken myself down and will continue!
Fantastic positive attitude. It can be tough, especially when you’ve done it “right.”

Stay with us and let us support you. Star

ShagMeRiggins · 01/06/2020 19:32

@ExShield

I lost 1/4 of a pound. That’s basically a big poo. Sad
In my mind, a big poo is 2lbs. Grin

KOKO ExShield. Honestly—it will work.

ExShield · 01/06/2020 19:37

Wow Shag, you poo big! That’s half a big bag of spuds! Grin

BIWI · 01/06/2020 19:38

@Linnet

I’m going to keep calorie counting until Thursday this week

Why?!

That's not Bootcamp. Honestly - you will lose weight by low carbing. The implication of your post is that you believe it's the calories that are driving the weight loss, which simply isn't the case.

Had a good day today!

Started off with Joe Wicks this morning, followed by a walk with the kids. We can only go so far with a 2-year-old but she did well!

Lunch: tuna burgers with fried cabbage
Dinner: chicken thighs with roasted mushrooms, courgette and tomato

Water: just over 4l. Have been necking it in this heat!

PastramiNoRye · 01/06/2020 19:48

Oh, and two black coffees and one with cream.

I didn’t start until last Thursday, so was going to give myself the full week of calorie counting.

BIWI · 01/06/2020 19:56

Don't bother! Just join us in Bootcamp 'proper'

BeyondDreamsOfBeyondFourWalls · 01/06/2020 20:06

Spent about an hour putting furniture together earlier, so that burnt off a fair few calories judging by the sweat! Grin

DP had a death in the family today, so was in the process of some bad choices - til she called the DCs and gave them the big thing (no details for food envy sake) she was going to have. So proud of that, even though she had a little blip, it could have been so much worse 🏆

Ninkanink · 01/06/2020 20:07

Dinner tonight: Chilli, guacamole and coleslaw.

Fair bit of water yet to drink, but I’ve got the whole evening for that...

Rshard · 01/06/2020 20:12

I can’t believe that overall total for week 1, thanks for calculating and sharing athlestane and yay to all of us losers!

Had one of my favourite dinners on this woe, pork mince tacos but in big lettuce leaves. Dh even has the lettuce leaves now, although he did have one ordinary taco as he way hungry. Love that this woe can adapt to regular family dinners and doesn’t mean cooking different meals.

ShagMeRiggins · 01/06/2020 20:31

1stMrsF I’m sending you a great big kiss. Loved your post.

LostaraYil · 01/06/2020 20:37

Chicken thighs seem to be a bit of a theme today, that was my dinner as well. I'm so happy that I have been able to convert the entire family to prefer chicken thighs and wings rather than chicken breast.
B- full fat Greek yogurt
L- coleslaw and hot smoked salmon
D- chicken thighs and fried cabbage
I felt too exhausted to exercise much, not sure if it was just the heat or still carb flu. I feel much more energetic now that it's cooler and might go for a quick walk.

OneFootintheRave · 01/06/2020 20:41

Ah @BrassicaBabe that's a shame about those chops. I hope you have a low carb alternative!

@BIWI would it really work to lose weight if you kept totally low carb but were packing away like 3K calories a day on a load of cheese. Surely the amount of calories factor in some way?

BIWI · 01/06/2020 20:57

Well yes, of course they do. But, in reality, who would eat that much cheese every day?! The whole point of Bootcamp is that we eat normal food, in normal quantities.

The whole plan is based on eating fresh/unprocessed protein (if you're a carnivore, of course) and plenty of vegetables and salads, with good fats.

Cheese is perfect on Bootcamp, but not really in massive quantities - as posted in the rules, we do need to be careful with dairy.

Why we focus on low carb/high fat is because we're aiming to keep our blood sugar levels stable. And this is where the calorie thing is important - a calorie of fat will have little/no impact on your blood sugar levels as it won't provoke a spike of insulin. Whereas a calorie of carbohydrate will. So carbohydrate calories are much less desirable than fat calories, IYSWIM.
