Greengoose I think I just dribbled on my screen.

Ragwort · 07/06/2020 09:20

Thanks Green, I made fathead pizza two years ago when I was low carbing and had forgotten how good it is. Are ground almonds the same as almond flour?

Another positive day yesterday,

Brunch was bacon and cheese and broccoli muffins (LC of course)
Dinner was pork fry, served mine before adding noodles for DH & DS
Snack of salami and cream cheese. Two coffees with cream.

Today will have bacon and poached eggs for brunch, celebration dinner as DS has finished his first year at Uni three months at home, chicken wings with blue cheese dressing, BBQ steak and salad.

And no wine - 12 days now !

Ragwort · 07/06/2020 09:22

Love the photo of your asparagus with steak pretty, will copy that myself, a bit fed up with salads all the time. Is that shavings of Parmesan on the asparagus?

devoncreamtea · 07/06/2020 09:45

@Ragwort I’m addicted to asparagus - I love asparagus season and eat it nearly every day! If you have a Morrisons near you - they do 2 bunches for £3 which is bargain for asparagus as the season is so short. Plus it’s super low carb!

devoncreamtea · 07/06/2020 09:55

Morning campers!
Everyone’s dinners sound amazing! I was disappointed last night as had planned a lush dinner of lamb chops, mashed swede and flgv. I was going to add roasties for the kids and DH. But went on a very long wander with kids n dog through the woods and when I returned DH was cooking tea. He’s a great cook of exotic meals - but not so good on the everyday cookery - especially timings 🤣 rubbery chops, no swede mash and he’d steamed the cauli Id brought for cauli rice 😬 I had to work hard at my gratitude!!!!!
Then I was hungry as hadn’t eaten enough fat - resorted to a swig of cream and searched for The Bag of cheesies. It had been discovered and opened - thank fully there were 4 bits left, which I ate, but....DIDN’T like 😳 I was gutted!
Food today
B (enormous due to Monk like tea) scrambled egg, few ancient mushies, avo and kimchi - and a bit of jolly hog bacon.
L salad and something if hungry
D salmon and flgv
Might have a bit of Greek yoghurt today if needed.

devoncreamtea · 07/06/2020 10:01

Btw shagmeriggins you posted something the other day about self care that I thought was really insightful. I had a think about that - and Sunday is going to be long bath night. Thank you for the idea!

prettybird · 07/06/2020 10:09

Ragwort - it is indeed - well spotted Smile I roasted the asparagus in the oven (with a bit of oil) as it was already on for dh's chips. I just use my cheese slice for a few shavings (and the knife for an extra chunk as cook's perk Wink).

Randomfatty · 07/06/2020 10:31

Morning - feeling happier today - seem to have much more energy. Think I may be very very annoying to my family as I’ve gone from eeyore to tigger overnight, as just have an energy burst out of nowhere. I’m down a few more pounds as I weigh myself on Sundays - need to get my head around this as a woe rather than deprivation - as the weight loss is so much slower than basically just starving yourself and having shakes (have done that before!).

Lunch - maybe a cooked breakfast thingy with eggs, mushrooms, bacon, toms, etc.
Dinner - pizza - I use sliced aubergine sliced the long way, line a baking sheet with them (use foil/baking paper) and then cook with some oil for 15 or so mins. I then make a meaty topping using turkey mince, ndauja sausage, aload of veg, garlic, chilli, herbs, olives and cook this down and then spread over the base, add lots of cheese and bake for another 15 or so mins. It’s lovely and filling with a green salad - just don’t make the slices too thin!

Ive just done my weights session and planned meals for the week, and am currently spring cleaning the house and just have a few rooms left downstairs before lunch!

Hope everyone has a good day! X

bibliomania · 07/06/2020 10:53

Love the aubergine pizza base idea, Random. I love aubergine anyway, so that sounds like a winner.

Takingontheworld · 07/06/2020 11:38

I've had a sneaky weigh because I am weak, which shows a 1.8lb down so 11.8lbs in 21days.

I'm a bit anxious as I have a work trip Friday-monday. Its a self catering apartment but I'll be with a colleague. We will be working hard to meet some deadlines so that'll be good, but I'll need to think very carefully how to avoid all the crisps and chocolate said colleague usually brings. Will maybe have to mention it.

Will i screw things If i drink wine?

BIWI · 07/06/2020 11:41

Depends how much and how often - but next week you're not supposed to be drinking alcohol anyway!

Blimey randomfatty, you are tigger like today - that’s a hell of a constructive morning!

I’m currently polishing my halo as I made waffles for dd and dh and I had absolutely no inclination to taste a tiny bit.

I think be up front with your colleague takingontheworld, explain you’re following this woe and take along some alternatives to the crisps and chocolate?

Takingontheworld · 07/06/2020 11:56

I'm not a drinker so can avoid but there's always a bit of peer pressure at work stuff.

I'm noticing I'm actively having to think about not eating naughty things again. I'm certain I'm eating enough fat so gonna focus on the water intake but i wondered how I make my mfp logs accessible to someone else ..... would someone cast an eye and check I'm not doing something obvious that might be setting off the hunger/cravings?

Perhaps its just the nothingness of life right now.. boredom. Can't wait to engage my brain this weekend!

1WildTeaParty · 07/06/2020 12:06

Is seed-lip 'gin' ok as an occasion thing?

It doesn't seem to have sweeteners and being spicy seems an exciting addition to lime and water (when everyone else is on booze).

BrassicaBabe · 07/06/2020 12:20

Can I freeze peanuts?! I've bought a packet for a coriander chutney recipe. (The chutney is used then in a great chicken curry.). But I only need 60g and I've got 300g. I cannot be trusted around peanuts! I wondered if I could hide them in the freezer?! 🤔

#takingontheworld - I was getting hungry the other day and I think it was because I wasn’t eating enough - since I’ve had a bit more green veg or salad with each meal that has helped. If I get really peckish i also eat some full fat yoghurt (like mine with shredded cucumber, spring onions and salt and pepper) and that tides me over - the total stuff is very filling. Have you looked at the nutrition tab on MFP - button at the bottom of the diary page and have a look at how much fat you’re having - once i upped mine i was fine. I just have some double cream!
Ninkanink · 07/06/2020 13:27

You don’t lose all emotional cravings on this way of life. That’s a very strong element for some of us. Most of the time it’s not hunger, it’s something else that’s driving it. Either force of habit, or reliance on food to eat away uncomfortable feelings.

I’ve long since accepted that on some level I’m always going to have a strongly emotional aspect to my approach to eating; it’s never going to go away completely, and I’m okay with that. It’s all about managing it and developing strategies to ensure that I make healthy choices most of the time, and that when I do indulge I do so mindfully.

burratabitch · 07/06/2020 14:03

@devoncreamtea that sounds frustrating, it's so hard when someone is just trying to be helpful but getting it all wrong!

Bbq food was great yesterday, I had Greek salad, salad pits and halloumi, although the weather was crap so we were in the garden wrapped up determined to carry on. It was lovely to see family in real life after so long.

In worse news, I burnt the top of my mouth on halloumi straight from the grill. My own fault for being too greedy to wait, but it's so sore today! I haven't really been able to eat much today because of it even though I am hungry. I might try some cool Greek yog. Any soothing tips greatly received!

Freetodowhatiwant · 07/06/2020 14:05

Re wine i know it’s not allowed but those asking if it really messes things up. I had one glass of red last Saturday and two glasses of red this Saturday. I know it’s not part of the plan but I’m living in a very stressful situation, separating during lockdown. Actually it wasn’t the stress that really got me in the end but just it felt like it took the edge off a bit.

I lost 4lbs the first week and I think I will be about 1 and a half down this week. I know it’s not a huge amount but I only have another 8lbs to lose for my ideal weight and I already have a BM of 23-24 so I’m not in an overweight category to start with.

I don’t think three glasses in two weeks is probably not going to make a huge difference, hopefully anyway! The only thing it did do was give me a false weight loss as the next morning after alcohol people are generally slightly dehydrated. I used to know professional fighters who would have a couple of drinks the night before a weigh in I order to let the lose a few Llbs albeit temporarily!

Today has been
B 11am (after fast) accidentally out without planning and had a small latte. Usually don’t have breakfast as doing 16:8.
L 2pm big cheese salad with mayo
D I think I might try the aubergine pizza slices

bibliomania · 07/06/2020 14:19

Did the aubergine pizza for lunch. To top it, I roasted courgette, garlic and lemon, then spread it on top of the aubergine and grated parmesan over. Really really good.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 07/06/2020 14:32

Sneaky weigh in before tomorrow and I've lost nothing in a week Sad

I do feel 'lighter' and less bulky around the midriff and I had an amazing first week so shouldn't feel too disheartened, but I almost feel like the weighing part is ruining it for me! Maybe I'll hide the scales until the end of bootcamp Grin

On the plus side, just had a moan to DP about it (by text) and he replied that he'll support me whatever I choose to do and "remember you are beautiful whatever the scales say" Smile He's lost 22lb on low carb in 2 months, so I was hoping to see a similar loss. Will keep at it! He's also doing loads of exercise and I'm not, so maybe I need to up the activity a bit.

Got a butter chicken sauce cooking for dinner. Smells amazing! I'll work out the carbs and decide how much of the sauce I'm allowed to go with my chicken tikka! It's quite tomato heavy, but I figure once I add a butt load of butter and cream to it, the carbs per ml will be significantly lower.

Freetodowhatiwant · 07/06/2020 14:35

@MarkRuffalo I always find that men lose it much easier than women do, unfortunately. Not sure if there’s any science in it. It’s annoying I know.

The aubergine sounds great @bibliomania. I will definitely be having that later

Takingontheworld · 07/06/2020 14:39

nink yes this is true. I am deeply emotionally connected to food.

In the first week all cravings and hunger disappeared and it felt entirely liberating to feel so indifferent to food. However with hindsight in the second week I was on a very intense project with long hours and so I was cramming food into the hours of 10-4 and then not eating again and I was very stressed and began not enjoying food at all which wasn't nice. Now I'm at home again this week and super bored.

I do keep a good eye on the macros on mfp to keep an eye on my carbs, protein and fat. According to the calculations for my weight and height I'm pretty spot on daily so in theory shouldn't be the cause. Gonna focus on the water more too.

BeyondDreamsOfBeyondFourWalls · 07/06/2020 15:08

I’m in a lot of pain today so have had to take my super painkillers Sad hope they don’t affect my weigh in tomorrow

Tornfelt · 07/06/2020 15:54

Hello all, have been reading and lurking and enjoying the info, chat and support on these threads. I've been doing my own bootcamp over the last two weeks and wondered if anyone experiences heartburn? I've had a weird sensation in my chest, almost a hot feeling like something is stuck there. It comes and goes and I wondered if that's what it could be. Never suffered from heartburn except when I was pregnant. Other than that I feel great. Healthy and trimmer and enjoying my meals without picking inbetween. This thread is great for staying focused!
