Evening campers!

Setting this up now, as I had a bad night last night so I'm sloping off to bed early

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Seriously - if you haven't had a look, explore all the different resources on the tabs

Also my tits went to absolutely shit when i lost 5.5stone 10 years ago, and I was v young then so should have "bounced back"

Gonna be awful this time! Hope my face holds out 😂 sadly the chub face makes me look young I think... i get endless compliments on me face. Oh lord, its all gonna go to pot isn't it!

Atleast I'll be able to walk and breathe at same time!

MrsKoala · 04/06/2020 22:42

Lostara - if you have pigmentation on your visage (I have rosacea) then I rate products from The Ordinary, FaceTheory and Beauty Pie. I’ve been using various ones from each and have really noticed a difference.

BIWI · 04/06/2020 22:42

Oh and fat balls? I struggled to get my fat up without lots of dairy... could these be better idea? If so any best recipes? I have all sorts of shit... coconut flour, almond flour, sukra, cocao powder, 90%chocolate, coconut oil, ghee etc... its in the cupboard but i have sod all idea what to do with it so...

No! Don't do this! Just make sure your 'proper' meals are full of fat.

Go back and read the rules, and read through the whole thread.

I struggled to get my fat up without lots of dairy...

Butter on everything hot. Mayonnaise on everything cold. Or is that just me? Grin

NigellaAwesome · 05/06/2020 05:18

My coriander and lime dressing will sort your fat issues out. I use a magimix to make mine, in the small mini bowl.

Basic Whole30 mayo:
1 egg room temp
1 tsp rock salt
1 tsp mustard powder
About 500 mls light olive oil
Juice of 1/2 lemon (for Coriander and lime replace with Zest & juice of one lime)

1 clove garlic, finely chopped
Handful coriander including stalks

Place salt, mustard and egg in blender and whizz.
With the motor running, slowly drizzle in the oil (I use an old squeeze mayonnaise jar to drizzle it in with)
Once all oil is in, it should be thick and gloopy
With motor still on, add lemon juice (for mayo) or lime for coriander dressing)
Add zest, garlic and coriander and whizz for quite a while. Adding about 2-3 tsps of water will loosen the mixture and help incorporate the herbs.

This is incredible with virtually all meats and vegetables. I get tetchy when other family members generously help themselves

LostaraYil · 05/06/2020 06:41

Thanks for the tip MrsK! My face is a patchwork of all kinds of colours nowadays so anything that can even it out is worth a try!

Ragwort · 05/06/2020 06:51

Mrs Terry Pratchett no, me too ... never seems a struggle to add more fat. Love eating a cold chunk of really good, salty butter straight from the fridge as well. Grin.

Brunch yesterday was mushroom soup plus salami and cream cheese.
Dinner was a large green salad with chicken, bacon, avocado and cheese ... olive oil dressing and mayo.

Loads of water, 2/3 coffees with cream. Still loving IF and not feeling hungry at all.

Anyone made Fat Head pizza? Any tips for the base?

Rshard · 05/06/2020 06:53

Don’t think it’s vain at all mrsk. Getting them sorted will do more for your confidence than your vanity.

Takingontheworld · 05/06/2020 07:43

Ooo thanks Nigella, i just bought some coriander actually as missing curries so hoped i could make something tandoori, so ill give that a bash too.

Sadsammy · 05/06/2020 08:31

Starting this midweek(in terms of shopping and food in)I don't think my first week is going to go too well. I'm vegetarian but eat yoghurt, cheese and eggs (not dairy milk, I'm on oat). I've had scrambled eggs with spinach a few times for brunch and I tend to have FF yoghurt with protein powder (whey based)and raspberries. In my shopping order, I've switched to full fat natural Greek yoghurt and bought more protein, although that's a few Quorn products which I suspect have highish carbs in. Bought avocados, butter, eggs. Any tips for my shopping order as I can amend it today. I did put in some chocolate as I've not had any for weeks. Do I have to take it out the basket? ☹️🤭

BIWI · 05/06/2020 08:41

'fraid so!

But welcome to Bootcamp. Hopefully in a couple of weeks' time you can change your name to HappySammy Grin

I'd also add extra virgin olive oil and coconut oil. And have a look at the spreadsheet, to the veg counter there (on one of the tabs) and make sure you're stocked up with low carb veg.

OP posts:
prettybird · 05/06/2020 08:43

Yes, you need to take it out the basket Shock The odd square of very dark chocolate is allowed only in Boot Camp Lite, which is after 2 weeks of "Boot Camp Ordinaire".

No raspberries (or fruit of any kind) either until Boot Camp Lite.

Because you're veggie, you can have nuts, but iirc, oat milk is too high in carbs (but some almond mills are fine). Quorn isn't recommended (but not forbidden) as it's so highly processed. Again, iirc, tofu is ok.

Sadsammy · 05/06/2020 09:01

I guess I'm gonna be changing my shopping basket! Not a mad fan of almond milk in tea but I've got some in so I'll try it today. Thanks for the input!

Rshard · 05/06/2020 09:26

So dh and dd fancy burritos for dinner tonight, what else could I add to chicken, guacamole etc to make a burrito bowl? Any ideas very welcome!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 05/06/2020 09:33

Morning!

face/arse debate: my face has never been all that, so working on the arse is definitely the more rewarding option.

Am feeling so much better today - usually I snap into this WOE pretty quickly, but it's been a couple of weeks of whinge and weep this time. I have read that everybody takes slightly different times to adjust though - for some it's up to a month. Kudos to them, that takes some persistence.

Happy to report I may have dropped another lb; my jeans are definitely a bit looser even when just washed; my skin seems to be getting over the disaster of last week; I've actually been trotting up the stairs instead of plodding; and I have my work mojo mainly back.

It's sooo nice to be back

AthelstaneTheUnready · 05/06/2020 09:34

courgette, peppers, avocado Rshard?

AthelstaneTheUnready · 05/06/2020 09:35

sorry, missed the guacamole!

PastramiNoRye · 05/06/2020 09:41

@Rshard maybe some homemade salsa with shallots, chilli, tomatoes and coriander?

Puppermint · 05/06/2020 09:43

Scales were down again this morning, so 8.5lbs so far this Bootcamp. DH and I have made a pact not to drink again this weekend, so no temptation - so much easier when he's on it with me.

Really enjoying getting back to eating well and exercising after so many weeks of anaesthetising with food and alcohol to get over the shock of lockdown. I will beat the Wuhan Wobble, come what may!

Quick question - can anyone remind me why it's so important to drink water on this WOE? Not for me, I'm positively drowning, but for DH. He's eating well but doesn't get the water thing. And he's not lost any weight this week, so I need to make him see the connection before he gets bored and jacks it in. Any explanations or links much appreciated.

From carbmanager.com:

Carbohydrates are responsible for holding water and sodium in your body. When you restrict carbs, they are excreted, which means you retain less water. This means people eating keto need to drink more water compared to other diets

From susosuwater.com:

As the body begins transforming into a fat-burning furnace, your metabolism is changing as well. Here’s why water is essential for your body as you continue on your ketogenic journey:

Drinking water replaces the water you lose through ketosis.
As I mentioned before, your body is losing much of its water storage as a result of the low carb diet. Ridding the body of carbs means flushing water out as well, and you need to replace that water to maintain your health

Drinking water alleviates the stress on your kidneys.
Since ketones are acidic and can get flushed out as opposed to being used as fuel, drinking water helps to keep your kidneys functioning as they should. Instead of forcing your kidneys to work harder, you’re supporting their role as they filter any lingering toxins

Drinking water improves fat metabolism
As you take in more water, you’re improving the process of beta-oxidation, or the breaking down of fats. This is because this process demands water molecules. As you burn fat, you’re using water, and without carbs, you need to consume more water to assist your body in effectively breaking down those fats

Thanks Rshard, I’m always conscious people think I just want big boobs. Sorry I realise I didn’t really answer your question in my tired ramblings last night. It’s technically a small augmentation on both to even up size and refill lost volume on the right. A lift on the right and a nipple procedure on the left where they go under the nipple and cut the very short milk ducts which are pulling the nipple inside.

Lostara - I would start at FaceTheory. They have a great website which personalises the products for you. They also offer a refund if you don’t see an improvement.

venusandmars · 05/06/2020 10:03

peppermint I seem to recall that there is something about the chemical reaction that breaks down fat which requires water for the biochemical process to work...

Plus there are some reports that if you have a high level of ketones in your system your body won't make any more and will stop using up fat.

BrassicaBabe · 05/06/2020 10:07

Looks like I'm heading for a STS. I've been solidly in the 10.1 stage for over a week. Progress on the previous fortnight I think when I only managed to see 10.1 for a day here or there.

10.1 is fine for "face". But I like to be 9.10 for "arse" Grin

So close to goal I'm mostly fine with lack of downward scale movement.

Adding another voice saying you should definitely not feel bad about getting your boobs done MrsK. There was a throw away comment somewhere about it not being worth it now you are in your 40s. I strongly disagree. Probably just your internal voice seeping out! I'm positive you are worth it and worth the extra confidence it will give you x

Morning all, just tucking into a tasty black coffee for breakfast... actually I am getting used to the black coffee now and almost look forward to it in the morning. I also really look forward to weighing myself in the morning too (I know, weirdo) as I’m an every day weigher, I find it helps motivate me. If I have gained or stayed the same it motivates me to do better and if I have lost it motivates me to carry on. I have lots every day this week, even just 1 or 2 grams a day (my scales are in kilos) and I then rush to my phone and concert it into stones and then also pounds. I am 10 stone 1 today which is tantalisingly close to 9 stone something which will make me feel so happy. Always good to go under the next stone mark.

For what it’s worth I’ve lived with thyroid disease (under active) since I was 21 and I’ve been as high as 11 and a half stone and as low as 8 stone 10 (done through a lot of low carb eating and heavy weight lifting). It would be great to get back to the early part of 9 stone something.

I’m finding reading the posts her and browsing other boot camp threads really motivating too. The thread goes so quickly I often don’t have time to mention individual people but I just wanted to say it’s great to have you all to keep me motivated!
