Evening campers!

Setting this up now, as I had a bad night last night so I'm sloping off to bed early

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Seriously - if you haven't had a look, explore all the different resources on the tabs

Don’t set yourself up for failure by putting a time period on your goals - you’re going to really suffer doing it that way.

It will take time, there will be ups and downs, but you’ll get there.

Ninkanink · 04/06/2020 17:17

@Champagnecharleyismyname skip the Hoisin sauce - it’s not actually that nice and will taste way too sweet and ruin the flavour of the duck. If you have lettuce you can make little parcels with cucumber, spring onion and a sprinkle of salt. So yummy.

Takingontheworld · 04/06/2020 17:19

I did 3 cos i accidentally touched 2 before reading on the packet you shouldn't touch the test ends 😂

I am chugging about 3.5ltrs of water a day so a bit shocked they're so strong..

If you're going to set "timed" targets, make sure that they are realistic and over a long timescale Smile ....neither of which "4lb by the end of the week are" Hmm

So, say 1lb/week, over a number of months to reach x weight Smile That allows for the natural ups and downs and stalls.

I had had a target to get by a certain weight by May, when we were due to be going on our last big family holiday to Australia (ds is 19), after having done well before Christmas. I was well on course, at an average of 1lb/week ....and then Covid struck SadBlush

Let's just say I am now coping with - and reversing - a significant "up" Grin

I've given myself a revised overall target of Christmas - not that I think we'll be able to go then (not least because it would be too expensive, let alone any quarantine requirements plus ds doesn't like the heat ) but because I'd like to be significantly under what I'd got to last Christmas. And then I can review where I'd like to be for May 2021 when hopefully we'll be able to rearrange the trip .

If you say you have 6 stones to lose, then that would suggest you need to be drinking more water per day - without knowing how much you weigh it's hard to say how much, but go and have a look at Bootcamp rule no 6 - the rules are on the spreadsheet, which is linked to in my OP.

On the positive side - yay! - you're in ketosis, so will definitely be losing weight!

I agree with PP about not trying to set time-specific goals; and 4lbs a week is probably being over-ambitious, so will only set you up for disappointment

@Champagnecharleyismyname

Family want a Chinese takeaway tonight so I'm thinking of having a bit of duck with veg and a little hoisin sauce, some of the pork and beef dishes and a stir fry veg.

Does this sound ok? I don't want to jeopardise anything,

I agree with @Ninkanink - give the hoisin sauce a swerve if you can. Be careful with dishes that are in any kind of sauce as they often use cornflour as well as sugar.

If they have lettuce wraps on the menu, that's a good option - it's essentially like Peking duck, except the 'pancakes' are lettuce leaves, and the filling is a mix of pork mince, mushrooms and other veg. It will come with hoisin sauce, but try to swerve that.

takingontheworld your name alone sounds a massive burden. Flowers

honestly just feel a bit sad and lost. I was so excited with the quick weight loss.

10lbs in two weeks. Do you not see what a massive victory that is? Do you not realise how much shit you’d have to eat to gain 10lbs in two weeks?

I have yet to catch up with the thread, and I hope others have stepped in to support and advise, but as much as we all want quick weight loss, it’s proven to be unhealthy.

LCHF is a way of eating, it can be modified as a weight loss program (hence Bootcamp), but then becomes a sustainable regime (in the French sense) for weight maintenance.

If you want to lose all the weight now, right now, go and use SlimFast or the Cambridge Diet. Shake, bars, and more shakes. No real food. No pleasure in your meals. No change to how you eat day-to-day. Utterly joyless.

Maybe think about what you’re trying to achieve in the long term. I’ve been where you seem to be.

ShagMeRiggins · 04/06/2020 18:18

Good NSV though- managed to get one of my rings off for the first time in months! Now for the other one....

Love it, Burnshersmurfs the username ain’t bad either. Wink

Notlostjustexploring · 04/06/2020 18:22

I wish to bootcamp boast if you don't mindGrin. A very wonderful friend has sent me a box of baked goodies because it's been a hard few weeks (who has it not been a hard few weeks for?). I have put the box in the freezer to enjoy once bootcamp is complete. My boobs stick out further than my belly again and don't wish to jeopardise that!!

And mini goals, I too do that. This morning I broke through the stone barrier, and now my next mini goal is to reach 190lbs. Subsequent goals are the next stone barrier then reaching 12'3, which from memory is the cusp of the "overweight category".

Ninkanink · 04/06/2020 18:59

Dinner was yummy.

I’ve been very hungry today (yesterday was cravings, today was actual hunger/thirst), so I had a big portion.

burratabitch · 04/06/2020 19:29

Just finished dinner, cauliflower rice and mushrooms fried in sesame oil with 100g Linda McCartney duck pieces. These are 4g of carb per 100g, which seems to be about the same as most of the meat alternatives I like, which are the soy based ones. Is this ok? I'm not really a fan of nuts.

I am at 19g carb for the day as had huge salad with egg and cheese for lunch. I know we aren't supposed to be counting but I just wanted to see what impact the meat alternatives would have!

Rshard · 04/06/2020 19:30

I love the boobs sticking out further than your belly nsv notlost!

Hi all. Not been feeling great the last few days, along with period from hell ive had thrush and cystitis, so I’m feeling a bit sorry for myself. I’ve had some nice food to cheer me up tho. Tues I roasted half a side of salmon glazed with butter, thyme, garlic and lemon served with celeriac dauphinois and asparagus. Then tonight we had the left over salmon with stir fried greens with garlic, ginger, chilli, soy and noodles.

Interesting article MrsTP about attractiveness. Now I’m in my 40s I find my face looks better with my BMI at 24.4 (like now) but my figure looks better with BMI at 23. I try and stay at 24 and do the best I can with targeted exercises and sleeves.

BrassicaBabe · 04/06/2020 20:52

Ah, the perpetual swing of arse vs face MrsK. I know the weight I'm happier with in my clothes sacrifices a bit in the face dept.

Puppermint · 04/06/2020 20:52

Messed up a bit today with food, not in a cheaty way, mind. Lunch was HM chicken soup and late afternoon I had about 10g of Cheesies and ff yog with cream. I'd made spag Bol for tea but had a PT session at 7.30 so didn't want to eat beforehand. Got chatting afterwards so only just back, am outside my eating window and not really hungry.

So question is do I eat anyway as I've not had much today or do I leave it and just have a chamomile tea before bed?

BrassicaBabe · 04/06/2020 20:55

Oh, and I haven't had thrush since I started LCing. (2017) It was a a pretty regular thing before that. Cost a fortune in treatments between DH and I. That said, I think you are a long term BCer

MrsKoala · 04/06/2020 21:11

Brassica - I have decided in the last 6 months to prioritise face, whereas before it was always body and a bit more make up. I decided that make up was actually making me look worse and I’d rather look curvy than gaunt/old. I’ve invested in a lot of retinol/skincare and I think it’s helping. Also low carbing, and lots of good fats like salmon and avocado really helps with my eye bags. I woke yesterday and looked about 5 years younger than I did a week ago.

As for thrush I don’t suffer that much but it flares up when I have to change tampons every hour for a few days. Also I started using tampax pearl (h bought the wrong ones) and they haven’t agreed with down there at all. Shock

MrsKoala · 04/06/2020 21:15

Thinking about it the face/BMI is a really fine line. At 25 my face looks round and my eyes disappear and at 23 my face looks like it’s sagging down and the mouth lines look more prominent.

I’m going to try profhilo I think. I’m vain. I know. I’m getting my boobs sorted after this bc too (when they re-open).

LostaraYil · 04/06/2020 21:42

Arse v face Grin. I'm choosing my arse, I think there's more I can do for it than for my face... Since 40 I have developed weird sun spots (like giant freckles) on my cheekbones. A child thought I had bruising from black eyes.
Good day today, I felt more energetic this morning and managed to do some weights, though lighter and more reps than usual.
L- lettuce with chorizo, cheese and olives
S- coffee with cream
D- salmon with lots of broccoli and asparagus dripping with butter.
I'm trying to up the fat and also having an oxo cube drink once a day.

BeyondDreamsOfBeyondFourWalls · 04/06/2020 21:54

My arse and face are both okay at the mo, it's everything in between that's the problem Grin

Randomfatty · 04/06/2020 22:16

Ha ha - feel exactly the same! 😀😀
Rshard · 04/06/2020 22:24

Interesting chat about the arse v face debate, I’d rather carry a couple of extra pounds so my face doesn’t look saggy and wrinkly.

What sort of boob surgery mrskoala?

Thanks for the kick up the bum guys. I'm listening, I promise!

Yes username probably didn't feel quite so poignant when i pulled it out of a mental hat but yes, my life is extremely full... with lots of things I love, but exhausting all the same!

10lbs in 2 weeks is huge. I guess because I'm at my biggest ever I'm just all in a rush.

BIWI i weighed 15st 13, now 15.3. I took 3.5lts from the bc thread and have been religious so I'm definitely drinking enough 🤷‍♀️

Just spent my night in hell supermarket and an stocked up for the week.

Couple of Q. On my 2nd day of LC/keto i actually spent all night having sexy dreams about roast potatoes Grin which was odd as wasn't craving but suspect it was an odd mourning process 😂

I was told to replace with celeriac. Never had it in my life, but got hold of one tonight- how disappointed should I expect to be? Lol

Whats the craic with goosefat? I had the worlds quickest google whilst in the supermarket aisle and google said yes but thought I'd ask.

Oh and fat balls? I struggled to get my fat up without lots of dairy... could these be better idea? If so any best recipes? I have all sorts of shit... coconut flour, almond flour, sukra, cocao powder, 90%chocolate, coconut oil, ghee etc... its in the cupboard but i have sod all idea what to do with it so...

Thanks for having me here guys. You've single handedly saved me face planting some sourdough for another day!

MrsKoala · 04/06/2020 22:38

Grin I did think I’d worded that weirdly.

My boobs are notorious (only on MN I hope) for being weird and wonky. They’ve always been disproportionately small and I can only BF from one side due to an inverted nipple - so with bfing 3 greedy big babies close together and the last one for 3.2 years, I am left totally lopsided. I hate them so much. It’s one of the reasons I try to keep athletic as at least it sort of matches the body type.but when I get curvier everything gets bigger apart from them.

I’ve spent a ridiculous amount of my life in bra fittings and crying in lingerie depts. I’ve never found a bra to fit despite being seen by the top fitter at rugby and peller after they saw a thread of mine in S&B.

I know it’s vain. And some may think a waste considering I’m mid 40s. But I just want to put a bra on or go swimming/on holiday without all the self conscious faff involved.
