@ShagMeRiggins

A little Thursday morning motivation for you all...
My, Boris Johnson is looking a bit porky these days, isn't he?! And as for Donald Trump ...

Morning - though I was the only one feeling very grumpy and woe is me😡 @AthelstaneTheUnready
But maybe it’s the end of the carb flu - although yesterday I was craving a snack in the afternoon (usually have yoghurt) but saw some sweet and salty popcorn in the cupboard - I ran around with the packet for about 5 mins umming and aahhing about having a handful and then put the packet back. So pleased I did as weighed myself this morning and another 0.6kg gone 🌟🌟🙂🙂 🌟🌟 I know it’s not much but at least it’s coming down! Also starting to feel less grotty in the morning so getting to lunch feels not so hard with just water in the morning.
L - tuna mayo with iceberg lettuce wraps and bits - olives, cheese etc
D - paneer and saag curry that I made the other night (so yummy) and salad and yoghurt
Another weights class today and maybe a walk up the hill as well - didn’t manage it yesterday as was in a grump!
Have a good day everyone! 😊

csa26 · 04/06/2020 10:13

@Mummyoflittledragon yeah, I'm trying to console myself with that. It's just another delay having waited so long (been trying for this baby for a year - and I thought about it a year before that but didn't feel recovered from the first one yet), and also I've had 3 embryo transfers so far and the only one that was successful was the fresh one, so I'm quite nervous about the embryo not going in at exactly the right time (it's quite difficult to measure when I ovulate naturally as my LH results are a bit weird).

Notwatchingtvtoday · 04/06/2020 10:32

Morning all

Hope everyone is feeling a bit better today

csa26 Flowers

Biwi thank you so much for all your comments, felt a bit sorry for myself yesterday and could hear you saying “think how you will feel when you step on the scales on Monday”

Shagmeriggins loved your fat going to someone you don’t like.

Looks like our house move is off again...... it’s the constant tidying and not wanting to do stuff in the house if we are moving that has been difficult, so we have decided to stay put and spend a bit on our house and enjoy it. It feels like the right decision (we were going to move to something a little smaller).

Stayed the same, but that is now 6lbs off so that is brilliant. We had a delivery of fresh fish yesterday, which was brilliant and so we all had some lovely salmon yesterday and prawns at lunchtime.

Today
B Greek yogurt (total)
L Prawns , smoked fish and salad
D spicy mince with FLGV

venusandmars · 04/06/2020 10:32

Another one here who was having an emotional day yesterday. I was on a zoom call with a group that I've been doing a course with and when it was my turn to speak I just sobbed 😢 very unlike me.

But I cheered myself up by making a big chilli for tonight, somehow it always tastes better after a night in the fridge.

So..
Creamy coffee
L - egg, ham, loads of salad
D - chilli with guacamole, sour cream, cheese, spinach

If this is the case, perhaps you could ask about creating the optimal environment for the embryos? It is obviously more cost.

I lived abroad when I had Ivf. But my lining was analysed after failed attempts (full cycle plus frozen cycle) and the lining was older in days than it should have been, which is possibly why I couldn’t get pregnant naturally in the first place. Equally perhaps the previous attempt could have caused this.

I was given a spray to slough off all lining for circa 6 weeks, which I started the first day of menses. My lining was then effectively all cleaned out ready to rebuild from scratch. This is the point at which I started an ivf cycle. From memory I continued with the nasal spray snd gave myself an additional injection to grow the lining. It’s over a decade ago.

Maybe there is something, which could help...

yoikes · 04/06/2020 10:34

Well, that's my yoga done for today.

I've had half a litre of water and a coffee with lacto free milk so far.

Planning on scrambled eggs and sausages for brunch (sausages aren't ideal I know...)

Baked cod and Mediterranean veg for dinner later made with lots of olive oil and herbs.

Think that's ok LC wise?

AthelstaneTheUnready · 04/06/2020 10:45

Oh man... BIWI I can't tell you how happy I am to have more butter back in my life after last week.

Just had two boiled eggs, with spring onions, salt and pepper, mixed with heaps of good butter. Even my legs feel happy! Grin

1Wildheartsease · 04/06/2020 10:57

Grin @ShagMeRiggins and BIWI

Sauvignonismysaviour · 04/06/2020 11:00

Sorry to hear @csa26 and I really hope it all works out for you. My sister is going through similar and it's just so hard to know what to say or do, or be able to help.

We had a takeaway curry last night and I seem to have put on 2.5lbs this morning so am feeling rather cross with myself. Shall stick to homemade butter chicken in future where I know the carb count.

Keeping on with the IF as I'm just not feeling hungry in the mornings. Finding the water intake harder now it's not so hot but just going to keep on glugging away.

Tough one coming up later as it's my SD's birthday and it has been decreed that there'll be takeaway pizza and of course birthday cake. I'll have a look at the menu and see if there are any alternatives. The cake I can dodge by accepting it and then just slipping it back later when no one is watching.

I never know what to say to the children when I am "dieting" so I just tell them I am trying to eat more vegetables; or that bread/pasta makes me feel bloated, and that seems reasonable.

1Wildheartsease · 04/06/2020 11:12

Fingers crossed for you @csa26 - wishing that you feel better today.

@Sauvignonismysaviour I tend to say that I've gone off things rather than I'm avoiding them for diet reasons. People are less inclined to 'tempt' you to eat things you don't really like :).

I found my children most accepting of me not wanting to eat things like pizza and sugar (they still choose to sit close to me on meals out where 'unwanted' things might end up on my plate and need to be redistributed.)

gruntley123 · 04/06/2020 11:18

@BIWI - I can't see spring onions on the Veg carb counter, have I lost the plot?

ebeneezergood · 04/06/2020 11:21

Hi all. I’ve been lurking and enjoying reading all your comments so thought it was time to say hello and post something. I only started on Monday, so am a week behind you all and have never tried LC before. I’ve found the IF and water drinking surprisingly ok but since yesterday have had a raging sore throat & tiredness which sounds like the carb flu kicking in so have been taking electrolytes as instructed. I’m mostly vegetarian so was wondering if Quorn and soya mince are ok on this diet? I gather oat milk is a no no so will switch to soya or just leave it out altogether and have herbal teas. Anyway my weaknesses are wine and chocolate of an evening so hoping to stay well away! We have pet hens so at least have access to lots of eggs.

They're probably not there then! I got the carb counts from Sainsbury's website - my first port of call when I'm checking stuff out.

Welcome! And thank you for coming forward and de-lurking!

I know it's harder if you're a vegetarian, but I really don't like the idea of Quorn, as it's so heavily processed. (Plus knowing that it's made from a soil fungus is very off-putting!)

Soy mince I know less about - but I've looked at the brands offered by both Waitrose and Sainsbury's and they're pretty high in carbs, at almost 8g carbs per 100g, so I'd say to avoid that as well.

That's not to say you couldn't have them - but just be careful how much and how often.

What's wrong with telling them you're on a diet? Your needs are as important as anyone else's in the family.

There's nothing wrong with sausages as long as

a) you've chosen a low carb sausage

and

b) you're not having them every day/at every meal

Your menu for today sounds lovely and perfect LC food.

Iirc, tofu is more acceptable than quorn as a protein/meat substitute - but I don't know much about it.

Love this @BIWI ! Fond memories of watching the muppets as a kid! @csa26 so gorgeous what a wonderful thing to wake up to Flowers.

I'm returning back to the eggs today. my venture into other foods, salmon, avocado tuna salad left me feeling hungry. I thought I'd gotten through that bit :( Anyone else have this? I'm eating 5 eggs a day and was thinking this might be too much? But they seem to be the only thing that keeps me on the straight an narrow!!

Hope everyone has a good day

burratabitch · 04/06/2020 12:47

Hi all, please may I join? I'm not fussed about being on the spreadsheet but have read all the rules, food lists and tips. I've put on nearly 2 stone over the last two years, and although a little bit is muscle from taking up weight training I need to loose at least 1 1/2 stone to fit back in my nice clothes!

I did low carb years ago and it was brilliant, however I fell of the wagon after moving jobs. I have since become veggie and wasn't sure I could manage it, but I'm in the right headspace now to give it my all.

Anyone else veggie?

Rshard · 04/06/2020 12:51

Have made me chuckle today, thanks!

Dealing with dd14’s stress today, meltdown about her IT school work and then she managed to spill an entire bottle of juice in the fridge. So have cleaned the whole fridge which I hate doing so I’m taking that as a positive out of it all! And now I’ll finish eating my lunch and look forward to a calmer afternoon. Hopefully.

Ninkanink · 04/06/2020 13:04

Lunch today so was SO good:

A little bit of the tomato sauce I made today to use up all the bits in the fridge that needed using (tinned tomatoes, green pepper, leek, tiny bit of fennel, one little celery stalk) the rest of which will be used for baked eggs tomorrow,
.
Plus a small avocado, some streaky bacon and a fried egg.

Notlostjustexploring · 04/06/2020 13:09

felippertyfeck I believe there is no such thing as too many eggs. Indeed I think one of the long time posters holds a record for something like 15 eggs in a day!

I had an excellent lunch yesterday of fried halloumi slices topped with very buttery fried mushrooms. Definite winner.

Currently have a ham in the oven baking, so I'll have cold ham for meals and snacks for next couple of days. I'm struggling for brain space at the moment, so although a bit processed, it means a mega easy meal of ham and coleslaw is there waiting.

BIWI · 04/06/2020 13:21

Were you eating enough fat then? Plenty of oily dressings, butter on your veg, mayo, etc? Or just not eating enough?

I'm eating 5 eggs a day and was thinking this might be too much?

Not a problem - other than you might get bored with eating the same thing?
