Setting this up now, as I had a bad night last night so I'm sloping off to bed early

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

So cute @csa26! How lovely.

Sorry for all the wobbles. I had one too last night. I was serving the kids lemon sorbet and licked the spoon. One lick was like a drug and I immediately thought oh it won’t matter if I have a small bowl. I started scooping up a big spoon’s worth but then managed to stop myself and put it away quickly! I instead had two bowls of Greek yoghurt with cinnamon sprinkled on top. Never had it with the latter and it was great! Probably too much dairy...? But better than the sugary ice cream.

I keep getting a mild headache so am trying to glug the water. Exercise not going brilliantly but I hope to step it up. Weighing myself every day and although it’s in tiny amounts - literally a gram a day - it is still going in a downward direction.

I don’t eat meat but am not eating nuts. Is that ok @biwi? I do eat fish and usually have some every day. Is that ok @biwi? That I don’t eat nuts even though I don’t eat meatI would be happy with a few almonds but don’t want to have them if it’s best not to.

Puppermint · 04/06/2020 08:32

Aww @csa26 how cute!

Dreadful night sleep. Walkabout legs at 1am then bloody noisy crows squawking from 4.30. Still in bed and have my first work call at 9am. Not in the mood.

Mince question - at the start of lockdown I bought some 5% fat mince, some of which is still in the freezer. I know it's really low fat but can I use it? Is there any way I can make it fattier?

prettybird · 04/06/2020 08:42

Puppermint - add plenty of oil while you're cooking it. And/or make it into something like a (HFLC) Moussaka with a cheesy layer. Or make beef burgers with added olive oil and an egg to bind (and flavouring of your choice: Worcestershire sauce, Parmesan, spices).

devoncreamtea · 04/06/2020 08:42

@csa26 Flowers for you. It sounds like you are having a hard time. That chick is really cute! Glad it cheered you up 🙂
In exciting news - I have finally lost weight!! I know it is an unofficial weigh in - but the scales said a loss of 2.2 pounds this morning 😊
I also have felt extra emosh Athelstane so interesting to read your post!
Today I am not IF ing because I don’t get on with it at this stage - yesterday just felt weird and snappy - which doesn’t help home schooling (!!) so will stick with breakfast for the time being and wait to see if IF happens as I get less hungry with fat adaptation. I am doing long stretches over night of at least 12 hours but often 14/15 because we eat early with kids!
B usual! Scrambled eggs avo mushrooms
L nothing or Lettuce leaf wraps or roll ups.
D pork steak, mashed swede, flgv.

Rshard · 04/06/2020 08:46

Very cute csa

Sorry to hear that people are having wobbles, I did Tuesday but feeling better now, everyone is koko like bad asses!

Ragwort · 04/06/2020 08:48

Another good day (maybe too much pork Grin).

Brunch - sausages, scrambled eggs & mushrooms fried in butter.
Snack - pork scratchings Blush
Dinner - pork belly, broccoli & asparagus in cheese sauce (cream, butter & cheese only)
Two coffees with cream
Lots of water

Heartened by the comments that exercise is not essential, I get that it's important but seem to have hurt by foot with so much walking during lockdown so just did a low impact floor based work out and lifted some very light weights to tone my arms.

Love reading everyone's comments, very motivating.

Yes! Fry it with plenty of olive oil, or coconut oil, or lard.

Sorry to hear that lots of us aren't feeling so great, emotionally.

I have no idea if there's a scientific reason for this, but given the physical effects of the transition from carb-burning to fat-burning, it wouldn't surprise me.

As we near the end of week 2, hopefully we should all be through this now/shortly.

Are you all weighing daily???
I was going to measure and weigh once a week?

BIWI · 04/06/2020 09:08

@csa26 sorry that you're having such a tough time too.

I wonder, though, if it's the IVF drugs that are impacting your weight? If you're in ketosis (by the way, how was that measured?) but not losing, I can only think that something else is stopping you losing weight.

For now, though, it's obviously more important that you focus on your IVF programme than your weight. Being realistic, too, you are already a pretty healthy weight, so I'd stop worrying about what the scales are telling you for now.

A little Thursday morning motivation for you all...

Bootcamp Ordinaire - Week 2
Wormthatturned · 04/06/2020 09:25

Thanks for the motivation, I need it right now. Hardly slept last night because I felt hungry - I haven't been very hungry this last week until this. I had a pile of stir fry veg with prawns and a bowl of Greek yoghurt for dinner yesterday. In non bootcamp times I'd have dragged myself out of bed and eaten a chunk of cheese but what's the deal about too much dairy? I'm distracting myself with a cup of tea, hanging on for something substantial later this morning. Yawn 🥱

BIWI · 04/06/2020 09:37

@Ragwort

^Another good day (much pork Grin)

Corrected that for you!

Carb flu hit hard yesterday. Spent all day craving every single food in the world, then last night had such a headache when I was trying to get to sleep. Had a glass of water and pushed through it.

Feeling much better this morning.

Hope you all have a good day today.

That sounds, to me, as if a) you're not eating enough and b) you're not eating enough fat.

There would have been absolutely nothing wrong with the cheese if you were hungry!

Puppermint · 04/06/2020 09:43

BIWI and Pretty thanks for the low fat mince advice. Glad I can still use it.

Shag love that idea, will focus on the fact I'm making my enemies fat every time I want to cheat.

Scales are showing a drop of 1.5lbs today so just over half a stone since the start. Pleased with that but hungry today (prob tired related). Must hold out til 12.30!

Fat enemies, fat enemies, fat enemies... Grin

Ninkanink · 04/06/2020 09:46

@yoikes some people weigh daily, others don’t. I generally only weigh once a week.

Mummyoflittledragon · 04/06/2020 09:46

@csa26

Hello everyone.

Started Bootcamp Light, just having a handful of blueberries and strawberries. Weight was going back up again! So went back on pretty much what I was doing last week.

Just had a call from the IVF clinic and my oestrogen levels are really high so although I’m having eggs collected, I can’t have an embryo put back in this month as they’re worried about ovarian hyperstimulation. Pretty gutted but trying to stay positive 👍

Hi csa Don’t despair about not being able to have the embryo implantation this month. I do realise this comes with the added complication of the defrosting process. However, your body will have been given a rest, which will give it a better chance of the implanting. See this.

Thanks @BIWI, still finding my way with all this. Big, greasy supper this evening and I think I could sleep on a clothesline anyway!

gruntley123 · 04/06/2020 09:47

I'm just feeling low and a bit lost which I'd attributed more to the current world crisis, perhaps it is also the change in diet that is influencing my mood. Here's hoping that the feelings soon pass and cheer and clarity is restored to all.

Having done so well on the first week I realised yesterday that I didn't have a clear meal plan for this week. I think my mind had thrown me back to Atkins, my only other low carb experience, when the focus at the time really was just to eat meat and cheese.

I remedied that yesterday and shopped and have just enjoyed a breakfast of a mashed up boiled egg mixed together with some chopped up crispy bacon and mayo, served over a large handful of spinach leaves and sprinkled generously with s&p and some finely chopped scallions.

I am mildly nervous about my scallion usage, I don't see them on the Veg carb counter tab of the spreadsheet but I am hoping that in moderation they are ok @BIWI?

BIWI · 04/06/2020 09:51

Have you been reading all the posts? I posted a long piece about weighing earlier!

It's entirely up to you when you weigh/measure. A lot of people find that if they weigh daily it helps to keep them focused and on track. However, your weight fluctuates quite naturally on a daily basis, so even if you have been following the rules it's quite normal to see no change or even a slight increase from one day to the next. This can be hard, psychologically, to handle - in which case, weighing weekly is the best option.

I'd also suggest that if you're measuring, you only do that once a week, since daily changes are likely to be quite small.

gruntley Scallion is Spring onion.

Defiantly41 · 04/06/2020 09:53

Had a horrible week with many many slip-ups but down to 180 and managed to make my own entry on the spreadsheet!

BIWI · 04/06/2020 09:54

@gruntley123

Scallions - or spring onions - are only 2.9g per 100g, so they're very much on the green list!

I think my mind had thrown me back to Atkins, my only other low carb experience, when the focus at the time really was just to eat meat and cheese

Even Atkins didn't advocate this! In his most strict phase, where you're restricted to 20g carbs a day, he emphasised the need to include veg/salad. It's become a bit of a myth, often fuelled by the media, that low carbing is all about meat/bacon/cheese and cream.
