Evening campers!

Setting this up now, as I had a bad night last night so I'm sloping off to bed early

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Seriously - if you haven't had a look, explore all the different resources on the tabs

Yes, I have done so in the past and I have a slow heartbeat too (like a big ole elephant Grin Not sure if that is linked. The anaemia is down to my periods. I’ve had shocking ones for years and since kids and now I’m approaching menopause it’s got worse. It’s nothing to do with eating apart from that it makes me want food for energy, so I keep eating thinking if I eat I’ll feel better but I never do. Like eating when you are sleep deprived. I’m not craving carbs tho (although I had a wobble on Sunday night when I really wanted a magnum with nuts on but I didn’t cave).

I should start taking my iron tablets again I think. I know we aren’t supposed to have vitamins supplements on BC tho.

BIWI · 02/06/2020 14:29

Who said that?!

No problem with you taking supplements, especially if it's to deal with a problem like this.

had a dream last night that a big fight broke out on AIBU because someone posted saying that this bootcamp group was ridiculous and that we all had eating disorders. BIWI went ape shit and waded in with loads of facts and figures and the rest of us jumped in to back us up. In the end it was a full scale riot, we were all outside throwing things and hurling abuse and mumsnet HQ turned up in riot gear threatening to gas us all.

Bear dream ever, Squishy. I’m not Irish, but that’s gas. Grin

MrsKoala · 02/06/2020 14:41

Oh I must be misremembering. I seem to recall the first BC I did someone asking and you saying they had sugar in them. Tbh with the Popeye levels of spinach I am consuming (plus all the kale and greens) I am surprised I don’t have iron to spare.

I am also really thirsty. Unquenchably for the past 2 days. Even while I’m drinking I still feel thirsty. I’ve gone way over my 3 litres today and my mouth feels so dry and nasty.

BIWI · 02/06/2020 14:53

Well undoubtedly you should be making sure that you're not taking supplements with sugar in them!

Some of them - e.g. ones that make up into an effervescent drink - will use sweeteners. Although we try and avoid them, if you need to take them for medical reasons, then it's more important that you do.

I'm tagging @MNHQ on this one because it's so funny. I keep laughing about it. Sad to say, though, I can actually visualise it Grin Grin

MrsKoala I don’t want to be alarmist but have you been checked for diabetes, may be worth a quick check to rule it out

BIWI · 02/06/2020 15:00

There's a really good piece here on the benefits of exercise. It's really worth a watch (it's not too long, just over 6 minutes ]]

@AthelstaneTheUnready please could you add this to the resources on the spreadsheet when you get a moment? TIA

I seem to remember that being thirsty when fully hydrated is about electrolytes?

@MrsKoala I don't know if you can get this where you are but have you tried Spatone iron supplement? It's water with a high iron level and it's supposed to be much easier to absorb than iron tablets. Completely sorted out severe anaemia in pregnancy for me.

BeyondDreamsOfBeyondFourWalls · 02/06/2020 15:30

MrsK, I’m like that with dry mouth atm too - I think some of it stems from having the fan on at night so it’s drying me out (snorer/mouth breather 😂)

Grin Well, maybe not riot gear and gas - but we do have some pretty good which we pull out when the occasion calls for it...

Sorry to kill the vibe but can I ask about the water? I’m in the 3.5l catagory, I’m drinking plain water obviously but can that 3.5l include herbal tea, slimline tonic (I know, but only one and that is my only vice), black tea and coffee? I’m really struggling to get 3.5l of plain water down.

Puppermint · 02/06/2020 16:38

Craving 'something' after a crappy day at work. Don't quite know what but pretty sure it would usually be a family bag of crisps, a share bag or two of chocolate and a bottle of wine. I'm not hungry though, so don't want to just eat for the sake of it, but by god, do I want to shovel some food into my gob right now.

How do others deal with stress/emotional eating? Any coping strategies?

BIWI · 02/06/2020 16:38

Herbal tea can be drunk, as well as fruit tea, but please check it doesn't have sugar in it. Black tea and coffee are also OK, but try to keep the balance in favour of plain water. (By the way, plain could also be sparkling, or could also be hot water - which is very soothing)

If you're struggling with plain water, why not try cutting up some lime or lemon and squeezing that into your water? It's lovely!

Stop drinking the slimline tonic!

OneFootintheRave · 02/06/2020 16:40

Good question @Ifeelfat.

I've been drinking loads of homemade tea made by steeping ginger root, lemons, and a small cinnamon stick and the occasional earl grey tea bag. About 3L of the stuff a day. This is all I'm drinking. No extra plain water. At least I am off the wine though Smile

1Wildheartsease · 02/06/2020 16:41

I seem to remember that the water count does NOT include things with caffine in - or (illegal) diet drinks.

but it can include herbal/fruit teas

1Wildheartsease · 02/06/2020 16:41

Ignore me!

Hopeislost · 02/06/2020 16:52

I've been making up a big teapot of strong peppermint tea each morning, allowing to cool, pouring into a 2L jug, topping up with cold water and sliced lemon, and keeping in the fridge. It's really refreshing!

SophieRay · 02/06/2020 17:02

I'm exactly the same Puppermint - just want a bottle of red right now and like you it is emotional ☹️. Not much help sorry, but you are not alone!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 02/06/2020 17:34

@Puppermint, I'm having a bit of a sad afternoon as well, so have had a really early dinner. I do find being full helps with non-food cravings.

MrsKoala · 02/06/2020 17:40

Thanks for the tips and the Spatone suggestion. They have it at Amazon. Just looked at the ingredients on my tablets and they are sugar coated, contain liquid glucose, lactose and fructose. Confused

Puppermint · 02/06/2020 17:54

Good to know I'm not alone. Thought I'd ring DM to take my mind off it but she just moaned at me for five minutes then said she had to go Hmm . So I've eaten half a mini bag of Cheesies, two marmite cheeses and three slices of beef spread with butter and mustard. Not feeling much better but can definitely rule out hunger. Now I need to get off my arse and sort tea.

Total case of the Can't Be Arsed's right now.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 02/06/2020 18:35

I haven’t been posting much but following the threads for meal inspo.

Had a day in the car today (6 hours Sad ) so had a mouthful of egg mayo and a coffee before I left, now back home and had a boiled egg from the fridge when I got in, and doing some rib eye steak with creamed leeks and mushrooms. Plus roasted kale. Can’t wait! I’ve ordered Pizza Hut for the kids as I can’t be arsed to cook something else for them (with fussy DD and veggie DS1!) so it’s pizza with carrot sticks and dips for them. I’m not in the least bit envious of the pizza, I never really enjoy it as much as I think I will.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 02/06/2020 18:36

Trying to keep up with the water while knowing I’d be stuck in a car all day was tricky but I’ll do my best to make up for it now Grin

BeyondDreamsOfBeyondFourWalls · 02/06/2020 18:47

Roast duck and salad for us, then the leftover duck is going into a stir fry tomorrow. It was stunning! Just having my mint tea now - seems a good habit to keep up with because I actually haven't had indigestion when I've been having it
