Good evening!

Trying to get ahead of everything, as I know tomorrow will be a real rush with people signing up, etc.

Here's the spreadsheet with many thanks to the ever lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready for her sterling efforts

Day 1 has gone well for me too.

Only black coffee this morning, before I went out for my run - Day 1 of week 3 in the C25K.

Two boiled eggs for lunch, and some Greek yoghurt.
One coffee with milk mid-afternoon.

Dinner was different from what I'd planned, as I'd forgotten I get my shopping tomorrow not today! So it was marinated baked salmon, with roasted tomatoes and celeriac chips.

Just finishing my 5th 500ml glass of water and will probably have one more to take me up to 3 litres today.

Total calories 805, total carbs 19g. A bit lower for both than I thought, but I'm certainly not hungry, and my portions were generous.

Day 1 completed by 8pm here, so 12 noon tomorrow can eat again.

L: fajita chicken
D: fajita chicken
2 x hard boiled eggs snacked on in between
5k walk this morning and another 5k walk tonight
3 litres of water

888 cals and 19.4g carbs

Think I've covered everything correctly

BeyondDreamsOfBeyondFourWalls · 25/05/2020 21:09

Water is something I need to work on. I've always drunk "loads" in that I'd drink about 3l a day, however getting it up to 4.5/5 for my weight is proving rather difficult.

greengoose21b · 25/05/2020 21:18

An ok day one for me I suppose, though I did cave in to some blueberries in sugar free jelly with a spoonful of cream just before the clock struck 8. Nonetheless, I made it in under 800 calories and only 45g carbs so it's a good start.

I've bootcamped before, back in 2017...and I was looking earlier at how the weight dropped off then. I lost 20lbs in total, which was the first time in my life I'd ever managed to sustain any diet for more than a week. I've gone back to being a veggie since then though, and the carbs have really crept back in, particularly in the form of sourdough bread, so I think this is going to be a really tough week.

To the earlier poster who said mfp was focused on low fat eating, you can set your nutrient goals to say what ratio of carbs, fat and protein you want to target in your calorie allowance. So for instance this week I'm set to 800 calories and 60g carbs which is 30%.

MrsFionaCharming · 25/05/2020 21:18

I restarted HFLC two weeks ago and have lost 7lb since. I’m now a stone heavier than this day last year, but 2 stone lighter than this day the year before.

I’m happy with how it’s going, so I’m not going to start calorie counting. I am going to start proper daily exercise and IF though.

TheClitterati · 25/05/2020 21:24

After getting caught up in the carb cycle again at the beginning of the lockdown troubles - emotional eating at its finest – I've been surprised at just how easy it has been to slip back into low carbing today. I feel really good for it too.

I've been really aware in these few weeks eating carbohydrates just makes me want to eat more and really doesn't leave me feeling at all satisfied. So that's a great lesson it's bringing home again right now.

And I've been drinking black coffee ever since last Boot Camp. I started out with a creamy coffee and switched to black coffee about halfway through and I've not gone back to having milk in my coffee. So a good new habit.

Have a good week everyone!

LostaraYil · 25/05/2020 21:28

B- omelette
L- salad
D- chicken thighs and cauliflower rice

Came to 957 cal. Still trying to get through enough water.

Glittercandle · 25/05/2020 22:17

Just counted my food for the day and ate 1110 calories and 36g carbs.

Quite a few of the carbs were from a corn on the cob (mini one).

Stepharoo78 · 25/05/2020 22:27

Off to bed now after a decent day. Stuck to the planned food (except for a can of Pepsi Max - sorry!). Did week 3 run 1 of couch to 5K and cycled for an hour with the kids. Let’s see what tomorrow brings!

TheClitterati · 25/05/2020 23:31

23g carbs today.
70% of calories from fat.

whitershadeofpale · 26/05/2020 01:58

Are we ok to do OMAD if that suits us? I’ve been LCHF for a while and IF as I just don’t get hungry until 3/4 and then usually only have something fairly small.

I’ve had to guesstimate my calories a bit today as DP got some cheese sauce out of the freezer (made with double cream and cheese, no flour) that needs to be used up. Planning on a type of omelette Arnold Bennett with spinach and salad on the side. I’ve put all of the ingredients in MFP but can’t be 100% on the quantities I used when making the sauce.

In terms of drinks, I mainly have just plain water but have been loving a jug of iced tea. Just made with lemon and teabags, no sweetners. Really refreshing with lots of ice.

MrsTerryPratchett · 26/05/2020 02:03

So ready for this week.

B: mint and pu'er tea mixed
L: two boiled eggs with butter and cucumber. Proper tea and low lactose milk
D: chicken leg, Brussels sprouts and bacon. Mayo

Cold berry tea, pints of.

Vaguely 1000 and 10 carbs.

DH put balsamic in the Brussels which is annoying but can't have been much. Moved soil and plants around this morning which is my exercise. I'm not doing the spreadsheet because it's too faffy from my iPad and I care more about how I feel!

ExShield · 26/05/2020 02:13

I’m late to this but can someone add me to the spreadsheet? Ta!

PrimalLass · 26/05/2020 02:29

Yes please. Started a few days ago. Will add to the spreadsheet in the morning.

CalendulaAndRoses · 26/05/2020 06:17

morning all - ready for Day 2 - at my desk with a big pot of green tea and my first 750ml water already drunk

Woke up early and raring to go this morning (most unlike me)

Will have a couple of mugs of black coffee when DP gets up and makes it

Planning soup or eggs for lunch and fish pie with celeriac for dinner

Will either do 25-30 mins boxing and bike later, or a long dog walk

Hope everyone has a good day 2 Smile

AthelstaneTheUnready · 26/05/2020 06:35

Hi, @ExShield and @PrimalLass, I've added you both to the list.

Morning Calendula, sounds like a cracking day! Early start for work for me too, so not sure yet how the 'exercise' will get fitted in. One great thing about all these conference calls (with video off to save internet strain), is that I can get down on the floor and do a load of strength exercises at fairly regularly intervals Grin

Whilst listening with all my attention, naturally. And stopping to speak, naturally.

Today's food will be much like yesterday's for veg (romaine, broccoli, leeks, chard, kale) only with duck breast and more garlic I think.

Puppermint · 26/05/2020 06:50

Morning everyone, 30 min HIIT done, now having a bit of a chill with a large black coffee and the doors to the garden open while I cool off. Feeling good and hopeful already. I’m usually derailed by social gatherings so if Boris could keep them off the list for the time being, me and my waistline would be most grateful Grin

Just a reminder to people to be careful with carb counts on MFP. I inputted my plan for the day and was shocked when it came out at nearly 50g (I’d not had anything particularly carby). I investigated and found wild values for celeriac and leeks. Changed it and the count came out at just under 20!

Finally, a recommendation. I’ve started using an app called Yumly, which gives you suggested meals for when inspiration is low. You input a load of data and can choose Keto as an option, then it gives you loads of yummy meal ideas. You can also input ingredients you have in the fridge and it will come up with recipes for you!

SparklesAllOver · 26/05/2020 06:53

I surprised myself and managed to keep to under 800 cal and 30g carbs. Drank almost enough water. Was on my own last night so had a stir fry with broccoli, mushrooms, spring greens with a bit of chilli, ginger and garlic for flavour, cooked in coconut oil. Feel a bit ropey this morning but will go for long dog walk and do a Popsugar class. Lunch will be scrambled eggs and broccoli, salmon and veg for dinner. I feel slimmer already!

PseudoBadger · 26/05/2020 07:02

Hi @AthelstaneTheUnready I did sign up on the thread but can’t see myself on the spreadsheet?

AthelstaneTheUnready · 26/05/2020 07:15

Apols, Badger! On now.

PseudoBadger · 26/05/2020 07:38

Thanks!

Rshard · 26/05/2020 07:40

Checking for day 2!

Everyone sounds full of vim and vigour this morning. Like calendula, I’m at my desk already and have drank 500ml water.

Wishing everyone a good day

Stepharoo78 · 26/05/2020 07:42

I feel a bit tired this morning so massive pot of coffee next to me on the desk. Must remember to add salt to my omelette this lunchtime as some people on here say that helps with carb flu. I don't normally add salt to food so keep forgetting!

BIWI · 26/05/2020 07:45

Carb (or keto) flu

It's possible that over the next day or so, some of you might start to feel a bit ropey.

Before you panic and start to think you're coming down with Covid-19, it's most likely that you're suffering from carb flu.

Here's a great piece from The Diet Doctor about it, its symptoms and how to deal with it

The key thing is maintaining your balance of electrolytes - sodium, magnesium and potassium.

Sodium:

This is key - make sure you're cooking with salt and also putting it on your food. In the immediate term, try a hot drink made with Oxo or Bovril or Marmite.

Magnesium and potassium you can get from foods like salmon, avocado, full fat natural yoghurt, spinach and mushrooms.

You could also use Lo-Salt, which contains potassium.

If you like, you can also buy an electrolyte tablet, called Zero , which is made by High5. It does contain artificial sweeteners, but in extremis it's fine!

Full of grim determination today. I'm on the black coffee, instead of milk in it, and it's actually quite nice. I'd forgotten. Probably just as well as I was probably going through a pint a day!!

Got cheese omelette and buttery mushrooms planned for lunch and a mozzarella and tomato salad for dinner. Bit cheesy, but I've not really had time to plan as starting on impulse so cobbling together what I've got. I'll do some planning and shopping today as I don't have anything suitable for tomorrow!!

Regarding eggs, I've managed to always get eggs of some sort in my Morrisons
