Good evening!

Trying to get ahead of everything, as I know tomorrow will be a real rush with people signing up, etc.

Here's the spreadsheet with many thanks to the ever lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready for her sterling efforts

I don’t understand this 😞 I’ve been planning my meals for next week and MyFitnessPal is suggesting I’m bordering on malnutrition! My protein, fibre and carbs are all way down where they should be. Obviously I realise that carbs should be right down but fibre and protein? If I add anything else I go over on calories. Why am I not getting this right? 😞

prettybird · 25/05/2020 19:21

I've planned this really badly: we're now putting a small bag of tablet into the cases of wine that we sell (as part of being Scottish). I sent up my last 3 bags to ds in a care package (with rugby balls and bag and other bits and pieces) last week and we've got another few orders so I'll need to make another batch Shock I should have made it yesterday so that I didn't have to use all my self-discipline to not even taste it and to throw out the soft ball test and make dh eat the scrapings Blush

I have got better at packing it all up into the wee bags straight away (and/or into wee boxes to send to friends who I know would appreciate it) to reduce avoid the temptation Grin.

BIWI · 25/05/2020 19:24

@SquishyBones what meals are you planning? If you write them out here we can tell you if they're fine, or if it's MFP going all nannyish on you!

I wouldn't worry about the fibre, by the way - just keep an eye on the protein, fats and carbs.

I hope everyone's had a lovely bank holiday Monday!

The weather has been completely glorious here and my children I spent the day at the beach. Quite a few people down there but everyone socially distanced, relaxed and having a really nice time. Felt like a holiday in a day.

We actually went swimming in the sea plus we cycled to and from the beach so that's exercise ticked off for the day. I made a really lovely picnic with lots of salad, asparagus, boiled eggs, feta cheese et cetera. The kids had a few crisps and strawberries but it was easy enough to avoid.

I am a bit behind on the water today - obviously being out all day it wasn't a good idea to drink huge amount but I am catching up with it now.

Fridge is stocked, meals are planned, and I'm ready for the week ahead. Just need to do a few measurements later.

BIWI · 25/05/2020 19:28

@JustFrigginNameChange if you're pregnant, please don't restrict your calories and carbs too much.

In fact, I would say to you that you shouldn't be calorie counting at all, and should probably be doing Bootcamp Light, rather than full-on Bootcamp, and certainly not taking the super strict approach.

OP posts:
BIWI · 25/05/2020 19:29

And @JustFrigginNameChange looking at the spreadsheet, I can see that you are only just over 9 and a half stones - why are you trying to lose weight anyway, and especially when you're pregnant? This is really concerning me!

OP posts:
SquishyBones · 25/05/2020 19:32

@BIWI

Thank you.

Tomorrow I have got:

Breakfast - instant coffee with double cream

Lunch - fish pie (made with fish pie mix, Philadelphia, cauliflower mash and cheddar

Dinner - Keto chicken masala with cauliflower rice

BIWI · 25/05/2020 19:35

Well all of that looks perfectly fine to me! How many calories/carbs in each dish?

OP posts:
JustFrigginNameChange · 25/05/2020 19:36

@BIWI To be honest, i'm mainly doing this WOE so I don't overdo it on the weight. I started off my pregnancy at 9st 2lb and now i'm nearly 9st 8lb. My baby is the size of a lemon. It doesn't really add up.

You are right though, I shouldn't fuss over the calorie counting. I just don't want to gain more weight than is necessary.

I am a carb binger and can eat more than my 6'5" and 13/14 stoneish partner in a sitting.

BIWI · 25/05/2020 19:39

I'm sorry @JustFrigginNameChange - of course you're going to put on weight! It's not only the baby - the size of the baby is only part of it. You also have more blood in your system now.

Please don't diet.

OP posts:
SquishyBones · 25/05/2020 19:41

Breakfast - 85 calories/ 1 carb

Lunch - 357 calories / 4 carbs

Dinner - 493 calories / 6 carbs

BrassicaBabe · 25/05/2020 19:45

I second, don't listen to MFP Squishy. It's geared towards low fat. Ignore the background noise!

devoncreamtea · 25/05/2020 19:50

@Justfriggin Congrats on your pregnancy! I agree with BIWI - def don’t restrict cals to below your BMR. (You can find this calculation online) it would prob be around 1400 cals but you can check. In pregnancy your body is growing extra cells and will deplete your stores pretty fast! Don’t forget that you have a giant placenta in there too, as well as fluid around baby and new milk ducts etc. You can expect to gain weight steadily - I think a 6 pound gain by now (are you in 2nd T now?) is very little! 🙂

JustFrigginNameChange · 25/05/2020 19:50

@BIWI Okay. Can I still stay to keep inspired to eat healthily? Today I discovered the beauty that is spiralized courgettes tossed in lemon juice, olive oil and mint - It was delicious! I wouldn't have thought of swapping out pasta for that if it wasn't for this bootcamp.

Also I've been drinking so much bloody fruit juice recently and that's jam packed with sugar. I'd like to cut down on that too. Too much sugar gives me headaches but I still won't stop.

My last baby weighed 10lb 4oz so i'm hoping this one won't be so big if I don't binge on Oreos and OJ again

devoncreamtea · 25/05/2020 20:12

@justfriggin - I did a moderate low carb diet in my last pregnancy as I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes. Dunno why that required capital letters!!! It was all fine a very healthy baby - and the low carb approach definitely made me feel good. I cut out breads, pasta, rice, sugar and other sweet things, fruit except berries and had plenty of protein and veggies. And yoghurt! Good luck with it. Boot camp lite sounds ideal - no calorie counting - and you get a wider variety of food (like berries, nuts, more dairy). Perhaps include something like oatcakes if you like them? Good luck with it! Ninkanink · 25/05/2020 20:18

Hi all,

Dinner was chicken Caesar salad (ish), with shopbought dressing. I had just done a full months grocery shopping when I decided to do bootcamp, so there are some things I need to use.

Iceberg, gem lettuce, cucumber, celery. Chicken breast with skin, plus the meat off the carcass. Parmesan.

Total calories 869, of which I had a bit less than half. But I’ll call it 435.

Daily total: 835.

Now to chill with a tall glass or two of sparkling water with ice and a slice.👍

Ninkanink · 25/05/2020 20:25

Oh...forgot about carb count. 🙄

Can’t see it being much over 20, if that. But I’m not going to work it out.

Will be back in the swing of keeping track tomorrow.

CalendulaAndRoses · 25/05/2020 20:31

had baked salmon and courgettini for dinner - was delicious. That's my eating window shut.Doing 16:8 so the hatch will open again tomorrow at 12 noon.
Did 20 minutes on the bike and 5 minutes with the punchbag - gonna work up to 30 mins cardio daily I hope.
Drank 2l water so far, one more to go which I think I will have in form of mint tea (while watching ru pauls drag race with my teenagers Grin )
Very Happy with Day 1 - thanks everyone!

prettybird · 25/05/2020 20:33

Haven't counted my calories but this was my supper - chicken breast stuffed with Boursin and wrapped in Serrano ham, with purple sprouting broccoli (from the garden) and green beans in butter. Reduced the amount of butter I usually use.

Lunch was 2 boiled eggs and a floret of buttery cauliflower left over from last night (dh ate the other one Angry). Have also had a couple of snacks of slices of Milano salami and a slice of Emmenthal.

Plenty of water (off to have some more), tea without milk (except for one cup).

As well as my exercise DVD (Level 3 of Jillian Michaels The Shred) I did a 3km run slowly

A good start motivated by the shock of the scales this morning BlushSmile

Quick calorie add up here and think I'm happy - breakfast and the main chickeny bit of tea came to 765, but then I didn't weigh any of the the salad with tea to know exactly what that came in as. Quite happy that that's a positive day. Also haven't added up the carbs, but given everything was bc appropriate I'm happy not to. Given I have a history of disordered eating - albeit a long time ago - I don't want to obsess about working exact macros out by hand, as my MFP won't log in

Finished eating just after 6, so aiming to fast until 10.30ish.

herecomesthsun · 25/05/2020 20:37

I have been drinking weak herbal tea in addition to coffee with almond milk (unsweetened it is very low carb). I have had 3 x hard boiled eggs, salad, 2 rasher of bacon, 2 field mushrooms with butter, a tomato, a load of salad, and chicken curry with cauliflower. Also half an avocado. I feel very full and am about to fall asleep.

I tried to weigh myself but have had to send off for batteries for the scales.

Am very gently increasing exercise

BeyondDreamsOfBeyondFourWalls · 25/05/2020 20:37

We're gonna have an interesting week here, on no fresh veg and four eggs between two of us. My meals may be all meat Grin

Rshard · 25/05/2020 20:38

Well that’s day 1 successfully navigated. I’ve found calorie counting a card but like another poster (venus?) said its making me consider my portion sizes.

Have enjoyed reading what everyone has eaten. Bring on day 2!

BeyondDreamsOfBeyondFourWalls · 25/05/2020 20:39

We're okay for butter and cheese, at least

StarryStrawberry · 25/05/2020 20:56

Hi all, I'm also feeling surprisingly smug with day 1 and haven't felt hungry at all- although have been suffering really horribly since lunchtime with a headache, nausea, general feeling of flatness. Also had to walk out of the room to stop myself snapping at DH when we usually get on pretty well Sad
Hopefully will be feeling better tomorrow! I'm guessing it's the body going into shock mode, as I've been binging on carbs for the past couple of days to be honest.
Early night I think...
