Good evening!

Trying to get ahead of everything, as I know tomorrow will be a real rush with people signing up, etc.

Here's the spreadsheet with many thanks to the ever lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready for her sterling efforts

Day two everyone!

I'm about to do Joe wicks but I'd rather stick pins in my eyes hahana

BIWI · 26/05/2020 07:55

@Stepharoo78

Indeed - salt is vitally important, and will probably do more for you right now than that massive pot of coffee!

Read the Diet Doctor link I just posted, which will tell you a bit more.

Watching with interest. I'm going to try hard, starting today.

Laska2Meryls · 26/05/2020 08:15

Ive tried and failed so often with boot club, recently, but ever the optimist, I am rejoining again as IF really seems to work for me,if I can keep it up..
Actually started 16:8 last week,so already getting into the swing but sadly gave into wine 2 nights running..so not unexpectedly still the same weight, which is 2st more than my happy weight.
So here I am back again ..
Lunch midday will be 2 eggs mushroom and smoked salmon pieces,
Dinner ill be making ratatouille bake , with mozzarella

Ifeelfat · 26/05/2020 08:15

Morning all.
Did anyone else wee a lot last night? I had to get up three times between 10 and 7!

Laska2Meryls · 26/05/2020 08:17

Black coffee with a little salt in is good ( just a few grains).
Also water lots of ice squeezed lime slice and a little salt is a favourite

Laska2Meryls · 26/05/2020 08:21

Please can you add me to the spreadsheet? No start weight thanks

BeyondDreamsOfBeyondFourWalls · 26/05/2020 08:22

Morning all

Got a black coffee for now, two hours til I can have my brunch. Is anyone else IFing starting earlier in the evening, rather than having lunch as their first meal? I can't eat right before I sleep or I get reflux, but I've been asleep by 10 nearly every night in lockdown. Children are tiring when they're here 24/7 Grin

Flippinfurloughed · 26/05/2020 08:29

Today is my first day and my plan is:

IF - eat between 9 and 5.

B - 2 eggs scrambled with turkey rashers
L - 200g chicken fajita with lettuce leaves as the wrap
D - 150g steak and veg with butter.

I’ve got that planned out as 815 cals and 22g carbs In MFP. I am 1 litres down on the water already, and will do a 3k run and some yoga later.

I checked my weight again this morning seeing as it’s technically my first day and I was heavier than my logged weight yesterday - should I change it in spreadsheet or just leave it be? I was 163.4lbs this morning Sad

Flippinfurloughed · 26/05/2020 08:31

@BeyondDreamsOfBeyondFourWalls I’m the same as you with earlier IF times. Ds gets up mega early and I’m knackered and in bed not long after him so I have tweaked my 8 hour window to be 9-5.

SophieRay · 26/05/2020 08:52

Morning all. A bit disappointed to step on the scales this morning and put a pound on since yesterday Hmm. Anyway, 5k walked and actually woke up raring to go this morning rather than struggling to get out of bed which is my norm. Currently consuming a huge mug of black tea, drink my tea black usually and was so glad to read I can still have it - can't beat the first cup of the day. Hope everyone has a great second day - love reading how everyone is getting on Smile

BIWI · 26/05/2020 08:56

We're only on day 2!!!

Your weight today won't only reflect what you ate yesterday but what you have consumed over the previous days too. And if, as a lot of us have, you had that last minute 'blow out' then that's what you're seeing on the scales.

This week is designed to kick start the weight loss, but please keep your expectations realistic!

Quick question Biwi, can I eat pilchards in tomato sauce? Obv I know the pilchards themselves are fine, but is the sauce that they come in? 3.6g carb per 100g

csa26 · 26/05/2020 09:08

Hello everyone.

Managed to stick to it all day yesterday! Well, I do think I could have been over on the calories but I'm not weighing everything I eat so I'm being generous with estimating the calories for meals.

IF is going much easier than I thought and I'm even enjoying black tea and coffee Shock. It probably helps that it's so hot too. But it was hard sitting out in the garden yesterday afternoon and not being allowed to have an ice cream or make a jug of Pimm's (this programme is going to be good for our household alcohol consumption which is definitely higher than it should be). And I was pretty ratty yesterday. Blush

Stepped on the scales this morning and I'm 2lb lighter than yesterday! I know it doesn't really mean anything just from one day to the next but it's a big encouragement anyway.

Yes to needing to wee at night but will try to get the water down earlier in the day today...

csa26 · 26/05/2020 09:13

@BIWI, do you know the net carbs for globe artichokes and whether they're allowed? Picked a couple from the allotment yesterday and when I try to look up the nutritional info online, I get very different results (suspect because the sites are all American and including indigestible carbs).

BigJonn · 26/05/2020 09:19

Morning @BIWI,
When I'm in the swing of things I find that my best results are using Mushrooms, Konjac (Noodles / Rice), cabbage, spinach, lettuces, chillies, double cream, broccoli to name a few ingredients.
My favourite is a home made Chicken Jalfrezi with green peppers once a fortnight with Konjac Rice.
I also make a mean Korma for the rest of the he family which is compatible for me.
Lots of recipes and hacks that keep me around 20-40g of carbs depending on the day.
I am not in the right shape to run anymore as my knees won't take the punishment but I do try and walk up on to 10km at least once a week if the opportunity arises, but anything over 5km is a bonus.
My biggest morale boost comes from my kids wanting me back to the weight I was on our best family holiday. Having now achieved this I want to improve and just be the best I can.
Stay safe everyone.
Believe in yourself you are capable of many great things you didn't know :-)

devoncreamtea · 26/05/2020 09:32

Morning campers! Everyone seems full of the joys this morning! Yes to the weeing!!!!
I’m finding the IF part hard - and yesterday really struggled to get to lunch. Then I realised that I had eaten dinner at 5 so had passed 16 hrs by 9! Same yesterday, so will have breakfast at 10 this morning.

B scrambled egg, avo, kimchi. Tea.
L pastrami/goat cheddar roll ups with gherkin and a salad.
D chicken wings and flgv.

According to MFP that’s 19g carb, 1008 cals.

I did feel hungry yesterday and if I need to today I will eat more fat.

Freetodowhatiwant · 26/05/2020 09:36

Agh I forgot it was yesterday so am starting today and have put my weight on the spreadsheet. 147.4lbs at 5ft 5 - i always like to know people's height so I can compare.

I've been weighing myself in kilos recently and it's depressing to know that the 6 kilos I want to lose is actually over 13 lbs. I managed to get down to 60kg (132lbs - goal weight) last summer through 16:8 and lifting heavy weights at the gym (heavy weights really work for me) but worry I won't be able to do it without the gym. I am running, walking and doing some weights and videos at home but will step it up. I have an underachieve thyroid (currently normal as on thyroxine) and it feels that I really have to eat like a bird to be the weight I want.

Pre-kids I had managed to get down to my ideal weight and maintain for a few years and this was all the LC and weight lifting.

Started okay so far this morning, herbal tea and am now going to do an online workout. I am not good at cooking so will have to do a shop with easy LC things.

gruntley123 · 26/05/2020 09:56

I finished yesterday on 956 calories and 44g carbs.

Although it makes no sense I am quietly pleased that the sum of the two numbers is 1000.

I did notice that my fibre intake was a rather sparse 6g, any suggestions for easy ways to up that within the other confines of the diet?

Currently using a 10-6 window though hoping to move to 11-7 as the hunger pangs quiet.

Lunch today is steamed cauliflower with cheese and tea will be a garlicky basil chicken affair, when I work out how to make it.

Good luck everyone. The camaraderie here really shines through and is very motivating. Thanks again to BIWI and AthelstaneTheUnready.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 26/05/2020 10:01

If you have any cream of tartar in the cupboard for baking, that is potassium. I used to take an ‘adrenal cocktail’ which was a tsp of salt (pink Himalayan), a tsp of cream of tartar and a splash of lemon juice (diluted in some orange juice so it’s not totally gross!). Obvs the juice isn’t low carb. But maybe sprinkling the potassium on food with your salt could work.

BeyondDreamsOfBeyondFourWalls · 26/05/2020 10:02

I went with the pilchards, so hope they are okay. Tin of pilchards, tin of mushrooms and some tinned olives. Proper prepper meal 😂

DS1 has also discovered he likes pilchards (or pilkards as he keeps calling them) so he had about 1/4 of my mix on toast.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 26/05/2020 10:04

I’d just keep your intake of eg Savoy cabbage up, something rough and that needs a bit of chewing must have lots of fibre!

BIWI · 26/05/2020 10:05

@csa26

According to the Sainsbury's website, globe artichokes are 81 calories and 12g carbs per 100g.

However, I think you'd be hard pushed to measure the amount of flesh you're eating overall, and I can't imagine there's much flesh on one artichoke!

@Ifeelfat your body will get used to the water, I promise!

@Flippinfurloughed and @BeyondDreamsOfBeyondFourWalls it's entirely up to you when you choose to fast - do whatever works best for your household/daily routine.

And @Flippinfurloughed - don't worry about the increase in one day. As I said earlier, today's weight will also be reflecting what you've consumed in previous days. Your body weight also fluctuates on a daily basis anyway - so if you're weighing daily you really do need to manage your expectations that you might see an apparently random increase!

@gruntley123 - for fibre, it's the Bootcamp mantra - FLGV - fuck loads of green vegetables!

@BigJonn what a fantastic post. Sounds like you're in a really good place right now too Flowers

Morning all, glad everyone is doing well. Day 2 for me as I started on Sunday this week - have been fasting until 12.30 so around 17/18 hours. Today I have woken up absolutely starving but will have lunch at 12.30! Calories have been around 1000-1100 but carb count under 40. Hopefully can sustain for the rest of this week. Question - does anyone else have disturbed sleeping when they start fasting and give up starchy carbs - sometimes I have this and sometimes I don't but last night woke up about 3/4 times which is unusual for me. Does anyone have any tips for this as it just makes me soo grumpy in the morning Sad.
I'm planning for a cheesy omelette with a salad for lunch, greek yoghurt teatime snack (if hungry) and then a dinner of a keto sausage 'pie' with cauliflower and cheese topping with green veg. Good luck everyone! Happy Tuesday!

gruntley123 · 26/05/2020 10:25

@BIWI - I had been wondering what FLGV stood for!
