BIWI · 24/05/2020 22:28

Good evening!

Trying to get ahead of everything, as I know tomorrow will be a real rush with people signing up, etc.

Here's the spreadsheet with many thanks to the ever lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready for her sterling efforts

Went to the beach yesterday - glorious! Took hard boiled eggs and avocado for picnic. Not terribly good on the water - mindful of lack of facilities open. Today have a family brunch planned (bacon, sausages, eggs) and a BBQ in the garden later. Just chilling today and getting ready for the DTDs (Y6) to go back to school on Monday

Like a PP (Yumnsnet) I also lost a lot of hair last year when LCHF - is this a thing? Thank you for reminding me I will try to take a multi supplement.

@venusandmars your graph made me smile. This is mine - see how I was just starting to eradicate signs of Christmas and then everything kicked off!

Thanks BIWI Found it. Also found the BBQ sauce recipe at the same time. All good 👍

csa26 · 30/05/2020 09:21

Thanks @BrassicaBabe, I think that’s just what I needed to keep me going. It’s just much easier to resist the temptations if I see daily rewards!

And yes, I am very happy to have lost nearly 5lb. I’m also aware that I probably need to go onto Bootcamp Light from next week, and don’t want to lose all the progress so far.

prettybird · 30/05/2020 09:30

Also, in this heat, whatever the Spreadsheet says for your weight, you should probably be drinking more than 2 litres of water.

BIWI · 30/05/2020 09:35

Why do you need to go on to Bootcamp Light? Next week we do two weeks of 'ordinary' Bootcamp.

I am 65kg on the button today so the scales have shifted slightly every day so far. I know that’s not always going to be the case but it certainly helps!

I too went to the beach yesterday and also took hard boiled eggs with some mayo to squirt on. I did actually have some battered fish - not a lot - so I’m guessing there’s something like flour in the batter which isn’t great. But it’s all going in the right direction.

Can’t wait to hear what we are going to do next week @BIWI. I know you have written it before but I need to go back over that. I haven’t done boot camp here before but have had success with the same idea on my own. I’m finding it great to have this support here though.

venusandmars · 30/05/2020 10:16

So I put my food plan for today into mfp - way over on protein, way under on fat. That would risk me feeling hungry, with all the consequences that follow... So beef carpaccio salad swooped for salmon and eggs.

OneFootintheRave · 30/05/2020 10:17

I just wanted to say hi instead of lurking (as usual). Just turned 51, started on Tuesday and have been staying within the 1K cal per day. Keeping 16:8.

Averaging about 12K steps a day with some cycling, yoga and short bursts of cardio like burpees and boxing with mini weights.

I don't have a scales but weighed in at the doctor yesterday at 67KG. I'm aiming for 62KG at 170cm height. 5KG is post meno, slow build up of flab over the last 5 years which is a trajectory that must be halted Shock

My issue is wine 😔 DP is a daily drinker and our weekly recycling is eye opening. I usually join him most nights with one regular sized glass of red. I know I am sabotaging and did manage one day off and I am getting in the mindset for another day off booze today.

Thanks so much to @BIWI x

devoncreamtea · 30/05/2020 10:29

Good morning campers! Another beautiful day - weve been so lucky with weather! Imagine what lockdown would be like in the rain 😳
Yesterday was 1108 cals and 24 carbs according to the annoying friend MFP.
Today’s plan is
B scrambled egg kimchi avo and tea
L something and salad !!
D half a rib eye steak/creamy sauce and salad with asparagus.

I have been eating breakfast but not lunch - or a small snack like olives and cheese for lunch because I am hungry in the morning but not at lunchtime usually. I haven’t eaten my planned tuna salad all week. I would like to benefit from the 16:8 IF so I am going to work towards that next week. I found it hard to resist wine last night! But I did manage to. I have decided that I will try to stay off alcohol for boot camp or until I reach a better weight (ie the number starts with 10!!)
Having had a couple of very stressful years, I have piled on weight because of comfort eating drinking and being too low to bother about looking after myself. I was reflecting on this morning - and thinking actually (even though my weight is stubborn!!) I have made positive changes in the last year - such as reducing caffeine to one daily cuppa; cutting out refined sugar like biscuits/cakes/chocolate (I occasionally had choc but hardly ever) and doing more activity like dog walks and cycling.
So I feel on reflection that I am going in the right direction, even if I don’t ever reach my goal weight.
I am short and curvy -wide- so I am comfy at the higher end of ‘normal weight’ for bmi but at the moment I am in overweight borderline obese category which is what I am trying to change.
Phew long ramble! What motivates others to be here?

SquishyBones · 30/05/2020 10:30

I’ve lost 4lb so far this week and that’s with cheating.

Need to be careful over the weekend because I’d be gutted if it was all back on again by weigh in day.

devoncreamtea · 30/05/2020 10:39

Forgot to add cal and carb count for today
Carb 25g
Cal 1204 (bit high)

prettybird · 30/05/2020 11:13

I'm hungreeeeee Sad ....and another 1.5 hours before I can eat Shock

prettybird · 30/05/2020 11:13

....but I can do it! Smile

Does wonders for my motivation to do other things to keep me occupied Wink

Ifeelfat · 30/05/2020 11:17

Okay all, I’ve decided to give MFP a go. It takes me forever to learn new apps (tried for so mins to get Turner to turn into a painting on the £20 Snapchat filter this morning, and failed, and gave up) but lots of you use it so..,

Do you pay for premium? Is it worth it, what more do you get? Cheers

greengoose21b · 30/05/2020 11:27

Dear @biwi

Is a glass of Pimms going to bring out your big stick? Very tall...lots of ice. I'll try sparkling water rather than diet lemonade.

Me too I’ve got an hour and 10mins! Hope everyone is enjoying the weather - have just got in from an 1.5hour ramble around the woods and will be having scrambled eggs and bits for lunch. For dinner - I don’t know at the moment - maybe cauliflower fritters with some chicken and green salad? Really fancy some stodge - but must resist! More weird dreams - was in the army and we were on a training walk / run but before we could start I had to moisturise everyone’s legs! Smile Confused - don’t know what is going on!

Good for you acknowledging this but I know that you know it’s really going to slow down your weight loss.

You’ll still lose, OneFoot and you’ll still receive the other benefits, but it will probably take twice as long. Try just one week without and compare the difference. It will be as eye opening as the contents of your recycling. Grin

Sorry, but I'm afraid it will!

First, I doubt very much you'll stick to one serving. Even if you think you will now, you'll find that your ability to say 'no' decreases once you start drinking!

Second, all the time you're drinking alcohol, that's the fuel your body is using. So you won't be burning fat.

We're all grown ups here (Grin), so obviously it's entirely up to you if you choose to drink - but just bear in mind that will impact on your weight loss.

From next week we won't be counting calories or carbs, so I really wouldn't bother. And I certainly wouldn't be paying money for MFP to shout at me, when I'll do that to you for free ...

BeyondDreamsOfBeyondFourWalls · 30/05/2020 12:08

Breakfast of scrambled egg and bacon (everything is gonna be egg for a few weeks - family brought us eggs but we forgot to cancel the order of 60 eggs from the farm...)

Tea will be pork belly and something (eggs). Can't wait for the shopping to come tomorrow as we've done this week on the low carb food that was in the house already!

ShagMeRiggins · 30/05/2020 12:23

Sorry OneFoot—I realise my post might be precisely the kind of thing that drives you back to lurking, and I don’t want that. I was simply speaking from personal experience.

Squishy it’s great you’re 4lbs down, despite cheating, but it got me thinking. We have some posters here doing absolutely everything by the book this week who have yet to see a single pound shift. If I were one of them (I’m not), it might be really dispiriting to read about someone cheating but still losing.

I really hope this isn’t coming across as grumpy or judgmental—as stated previously, we are all adults, I genuinely don’t care who cheats or how—as long as they don’t then come back complaining that Bootcamp “isn’t working”—it was just a thought.

Meanwhile, I’m eyeing the Diet Pepsi in the fridge like an oasis in the desert, but really should have more WATER! WARER! WATER!

Enjoy the sunshine y’all...

greengoose21b · 30/05/2020 12:28

Ah well. No Pimms for me then. Another gallon of fruit tea I guess. With ice, mint and cucumber! Wine

I'm glad you've come out of the shadows to post - and that was a very brave admission of yours.

But I think/hope you've realised that you aren't alone! Many of us struggle with alcohol - it's actually quite sobering (pardon the pun) when you realise how hard it can be to give it up just for a week or two.

We are a culture that loves our alcohol, and there's always a 'good' reason why - it's sunny, I'm happy, I'm miserable, it's the weekend, I'm stressed ...

Breaking that - even just for a day or two - is a really positive thing to do.

Ive made some positive changes so far but have failed in other bits.
Not lack of understanding, but willpower.

Positives are:
16:8 has been fine for me, Yay!
Lots more water than usual (2L, up from zero, apart from tea/coffee)
Coffee restricted to am only and managing black (just)
Have stopped all cake / biscuits / carby snacks totally.

Struggling to give up evening cup of Earl Grey with a shot of whisky :(
Ditto small bar (15g) of 85% choc.
Clearly this cannot work until I do.
So, onwards and upwards - today is another day.
Scrambled eggs and spinach for lunch.
Ribs and ftgv (fuck tonne green veg?) for dinner
NO 'SPECIAL TEA AND CHOC' for supper!

ps Prettybird your barbeque menu sounds amazing (drool!)
