Good evening!

Trying to get ahead of everything, as I know tomorrow will be a real rush with people signing up, etc.

Here's the spreadsheet with many thanks to the ever lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready for her sterling efforts

LCHF Birthday party yesterday was lovely.

The food was a star not an apology and so on-plan that I still feel happy thinking about it this morning.

(Missing/missed family members joined me via FaceTime/zoom too.)

This is such a flexible way of eating.

Back on track this morning Halo

BIWI · 29/05/2020 09:16

@PseudoBadger

Is it allowed to have a boullion or oxo drink during the fasting period?
Absolutely! In fact it will be helpful, as it has salt in it which you need on this WOE

@prettybird I had to look up ‘tablet’ as never heard of it before - being a soft southern lass!! Sounds like a sort of fudgey thing? Well done for the willpower to resist a taste!

PseudoBadger · 29/05/2020 09:22

Great thanks BIWI

1Wildheartsease · 29/05/2020 09:25

Have been catching up. @Squishybones that is awful of your dh. How dare he try to wreck things for you in this way. I agree with Venussndmars.

@Devoncreamtea losing inches but staying the same weight due to recent hair growth Smile-I have a vision of you as a lockdown Rapunzel (tiny waist but long long hair).

MrsKoala · 29/05/2020 09:26

That’s a hard situation Squishy. I have a difficult relationship with alcohol and I find there is a spiral of guilt attached to it. Especially when you are in that angsty hangover phase. Can you have a hot shower, go for a walk to clear your head or do something absorbing to distract you from negative thoughts?

Not a great morning for me, I woke at 5 am with a horrendous neck, shoulder and head pain. Couldn’t move my head or lift myself off the pillow without everything hurting. It’s happened before and I see a chiropractor to sort it. But they are all shut so I’ve had to rely on co codomol and naproxen. It has meant I had to break my fast at 12:12 as the tablets need to be taken with food; so I’ll have to eat every 4-6 hours when I take them. And also it will mean no exercise for a few days :(

On the plus side I caught sight of my stomach in the mirror and my waist is looking much trimmer and I can see some muscle tone. So I am looking forward to weighing on Monday.

Have a good day everyone.

Makegoodchoices · 29/05/2020 09:30

@devoncreamtea depends how it hits me, if it’s the sinuses then the sniffer thing, but currently it’s weepy eyes so one a day tablets. I feel as if I have worn mascara and not properly removed it, while also cutting onions!

prettybird · 29/05/2020 09:31

It's a like cross between fudge and toffee: either a crisp fudge or a melt-in-the-mouth toffee is the. Eat way to describe it. Very more-ish (even after all my years on HFLC Blush) so it's easier just not to have a single bit.

At least after all my years making it (it's difficult to get right) I now know that I can make it consistently batch after batch and don't "need" to try a piece to check if it's the right consistency Grin

CalendulaAndRoses · 29/05/2020 09:36

@SquishyBones that's tough! I used to struggle with alcohol too and when living with my xH would never have managed this as alcohol was one of the foundations of our relationship (it's the reason we split - he chose to continue his relationship with alcohol over the one with me and the DC unfortunately) I still struggle a tiny bit if I am honest, though don't drink even 10% anymore of what I used to. It's more the hangovers now - maybe cos my tolerance is lower due to drinking so much less (and I am peri-menopausal) they are MUCH worse now even with just a small amount. Like @MrsKoala (hope you are feeling better soon!) I get the hideous spiral of guilt too. I hope you are doing ok today and not beating yourself up. It's a new day and worthy of a new start. It definitely helps me now that my DP is not a big drinker, rarely suggests one and if he knows I am really trying not to most certainly won't. That dysfunctional drinking buddy relationship doesn't exist and while sometimes (on a sunny Friday evening after a hard weeks work when I really fancy knocking back a few and he says he would rather have tea) I miss it (if I am brutally honest) I am very very glad it is gone.

Would your DH be receptive to an honest chat about it?

I was awake in the middle of the night as well. My joint pain seems better but my skin was really itchy - is that a known thing?

Got up early and took the dog for a walk on the beach - it was glorious. I am very lucky to live next door to one beach and 15 mins walk from another so I counted those blessings this morning as I had the place totally to myself.

Starting work now with black coffee to hand. Will break fast at 12 with a creamy coffee and then have leftover chicken and salad for lunch and dinner yet TBC

Hope everyone has a good Friday

BIWI · 29/05/2020 09:46

@CalendulaAndRoses

Itchy skin can be, unfortunately, a side effect of low carbing. I know it's something that @ilovecherries has suffered from in the past.

Are you keeping your carbs very low? Perhaps try increasing them slightly to see if that helps?

venusandmars · 29/05/2020 09:47

laska prawns with lemongrass, ginger, lime, coconut milk... So more like a laksa than a laska Grin

Venus. Youve guessed where I got the original idea for my username from!! ( Deliberately misspelled) Grin
Yes coconut milk fab idea and we have lemongrass growing in garden

JustFrigginNameChange · 29/05/2020 09:54

Morning all!

I love not being absolutely ravenous when wake up in the mornings Smile i can actually think about what food I'm going to be putting into my body instead of scoffing anything in sight like I usually do

CalendulaAndRoses · 29/05/2020 09:57

Thanks @BIWI - that article is helpful. I think its combo of hot weather, hot flushes (both of which are making me sweat) and the LC

It's not debilitating so I will stick it out and see if it just goes away once the WoE gets more established. I am not actually counting the carbs just only eating from the green group but if the itching becomes a major problem I will add a small amount of amber/red veg and see what happens

Randomfatty · 29/05/2020 09:58

Morning all - resisted the urge to weigh myself as just at the end of AF and I know weight may not have shifted yet as my fat is very stubborn! Good to hear everyone is doing well - back to the land of weird dreams for me - I was in a nightclub dancing drinking espresso martinis and the barman wouldn’t give me a snickers bar?! Confused and then I was some witch casting spells in an old tower and someone was coming around with vol-au-vents - who even has those anymore - I was so annoyed in my dream I woke myself up!!

Today’s plan is
Eggs and something for lunch (either omelette or fried)
Chicken coconut curry with cauliflower something (may be fritters rather than rice) or salad
Snack of yoghurt if needed
Treadmill hill walk Sad
I may also stick to the lower limit for another week if I can to give myself a boost! Hope everyone gets out in the sun today its supposed to be the hottest day so far!

Ha - I thought I was going mad but yep I’ve been so itchy at night that I had to take my earrings and rings off - thought I was getting an allergic reaction to gold!

devoncreamtea · 29/05/2020 10:04

I wish 1wildheartsease !!! More like the Gruffalo!
@prettybird well I admire both your culinary skills and your will power now!

Morning all, feeling good today after a shitty few days. AF made an early surprise appearance this morning, so I think that explains a lot of my struggles in the last few days and I'm doubly pleased that scales are showing a 4.5lb loss this week despite my monthly bloat.

@Squishybones Flowers I feel for you. I have a tricky relationship with alcohol too and while I'm not ready to give up for ever right now, I am using bootcamp as a chance to dramatically decrease my drinking. During lockdown, I've had something most nights and our recycling bin is shameful. I've found it ok so far, just a few times I wanted to crack, but the weekend is approaching and it's sunny so I know it will be hard. I think a frank conversation with your DH is a good start, if you think he'd be receptive to that?

I'm strangely enjoying calorie counting and think I will continue with the lower level if that allowed, at least during the week, for the time being. I may let my hair down a bit at weekends Grin It's also been good for me to see the ratio of fats/protein/carbs - today my protein was looking far too high so I swapped a boiled egg for some cheese and olive oil and it's looking much better polishes halo

Sauvignonismysaviour · 29/05/2020 10:29

I too struggle with my alcohol intake. It's probably more of a crutch for me than food has ever been. After a shambles of a day yesterday: readers, I burst into tears on a work phone call. My family let me down again. Juggling working from home with a toddler and 3 stepkids. I caved and had a gin and tonic. I always make excuses for it and it's not good enough. Everyone has stresses.

Anyway, 1lb off on the scales this morning. Have been rather constipated despite all the spinach!

CalendulaAndRoses · 29/05/2020 10:44

Feel for you @Sauvignon I came clean to my boss yesterday about my level of stress at work and we have agreed I will handover some projects temporarily and take a good 4 days off next week, just to unwind. I was coming close to the bursting into tears on a work call (probably would have been with clients in my case - ugh!) so need to shake things out and regroup. If its any consolation my boss told me he is feeling very similar and reckons covid fatique is setting in bigtime. Write off the G&T and get back on track today

Notwatchingtvtoday · 29/05/2020 11:13

Morning all, Flowers for those who are struggling.

Stopped eating dinner at 7:55 last night so we could clap, then realised my eating window had closed 😀 before I would have just carried on with a later desert, another 1/4 lb off, which is actually half a pack of butter, every little helps.
Have done my exercise, broken my fast after 14.5 hours.
Today
B Greek yogurt
L eggs and salad
Chicken and salad

Oh yes, the itch. Omg, the ITCH. Mine is currently back full throttle. It does settle but it took a while, though as weeks went on I think for me it was also a consequence of my skin trying to cope with quite dramatic weight loss. I found an antihistamine helped a bit, but tons of moisturiser twice a day was the most helpful thing.

ilovecherries · 29/05/2020 12:00

@MrsTerryPratchett

MFP is one of those irritating friends. You asked their advice once and now they can't bloody help themselves.
I don’t know why, but this is so damn funny and explains the relationship exactly. 🤣🤣🤣
