Good evening!

Trying to get ahead of everything, as I know tomorrow will be a real rush with people signing up, etc.

Here's the spreadsheet with many thanks to the ever lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready for her sterling efforts

MFP is one of those irritating friends. You asked their advice once and now they can't bloody help themselves.

Mixitupalot · 28/05/2020 23:12

Bouncing headache tonight, but I don’t think I drank enough today, plus have AF!

Eating still going ok, had a rather large bite of my DS pancake 🤦‍♀️ It was delicious. not having any cravings so far, which is a first. The only downside I have noticed today is that I didn’t want to walk or run today I just felt a bit to lazy.

Ifeelfat · 28/05/2020 23:12

Numsmet I did an arms one (she wasn’t sitting, I was. She was jumping around a field) and a seated legs one in a kind of gym - both Meredith Shirk on Svelte. I love them because they’re 5 minutes or so and you can repeat ad nauseum.
I also did another much slower 5 min leg one for old biddies. There are lots, have a shufty.

greengoose21b · 28/05/2020 23:33

@prettybird I saw that exact same number. Well...sort of...I saw something meaningless in kilogrammes but then when I was putting my food into MFP it had synced with my scales and converted to stones.

12 st 0.5lbs....the biggest boost I could have asked for. It's actually better than if it were 11 something, because today was a hungry day...but I'm really motivated to keep going and cross that line.

prettybird · 29/05/2020 00:09

I'm feeling very Halo ....I've just made a batch of tablet and didn't have a single piece of either the soft ball stage test or the scrapings, which are still sitting in the pan for dh to have in the morning.

Just finishing off my water allocation for the day and then off to bed.

SquishyBones · 29/05/2020 05:28

I cocked up and made myself ill. DH decided we must have a cold beer last night as it was hot. I’m borderline alcoholic ... it’s not as easy as just saying no when it’s right in front of you 😞 I had a couple of beers and then felt annoyed with myself so ordered a takeaway. I started to feel very ill very quickly. You really can’t mess around with this diet can you 🤦‍♀️

Today is a new day.

Mummyoflittledragon · 29/05/2020 05:32

Squishy
I presume your dh knows you’re on this diet; if so, was very wrong to do this. Do you maybe need some help with stopping drinking? Would you also describe your dh as borderline alcoholic as well? Flowers

SquishyBones · 29/05/2020 05:36

He does know, I’m sure he’s trying to sabotage it. He also knows I’m desperate to stop drinking. I’m under a support group (similar to AA) but with lockdown there are no meetings at the minute 😞

Mummyoflittledragon · 29/05/2020 05:42

That sounds tough. Is he usually so unsupportive? Are you his drinking buddy or something?

What about a group online? This for example. www.alcoholics-anonymous.org.uk/Members/Regional-&-Local-Websites/not~in~a~region/online-groups

MrsTerryPratchett · 29/05/2020 06:23

DH decided we must have a cold beer last night as it was hot.

There is always an excuse if he's looking for one.

What do you want?

herecomesthsun · 29/05/2020 06:26

yesterday, 3 eggs. 2 rashers bacon, 3 mushrooms, 1 avocado, 1 chicken leg, lots of low carb veg, lots of herb tea, bit of almond milk in coffee. Seem to be eating loads. Weight 103kg.

BrassicaBabe · 29/05/2020 07:32

Whoop. Scales show the same as they did last Friday! The small pizza from Saturday has finally left the building! Right, what I need now is a sensible weekend to consolidate. 1.8 lb to go for me to see the magic 9!!

Think I need to get back to taking my magnesium supplement. Despite being dog tired last night again, went to bed at 930, I couldn't sleep as I was all restless.

L: tuna salad
Exercise: need a rest day, so will just walk
D: dunno yet

(In other news the HRT patch hasn't yet turned me into a ray of shining sunshine! Grin)

AthelstaneTheUnready · 29/05/2020 07:49

Oh, Squishy that's hard Flowers

Stomach definitely subsiding a bit here. V tired today (already!) so just one step at a time is the plan.

Also in the plan is greek yoghurt, buttery mushrooms for lunch, and duck breast* with leeks, broccoli and mushrooms for dinner.

  • The LUCK of it - I don't normally buy this as it's expensive but on my pre-BC shop at Tosca they were half price so I picked up 3 packets. It's still not exactly a cheap meat, but so delicious...
venusandmars · 29/05/2020 08:04

SquishyBones that is so tough when someone puts temptation right in your way and I understand how hard it can be when that is actually what you are craving, and when it is your favourite habit.

Can you see it as an experiment? Q: what happens if I have a beer? A: it stalls weight loss (particularly beer as it has more carbs than other drinks) and it makes you more likely to eat off-plan.

Well done, experiment done, and you don't need to repeat it, you know what is likely to happen. Put it behind you and plan for today.

I am soooo excited. This evening I am going for a walk with my adult daughter. Haven't seen her for 12 weeks and I so miss her beautiful company. Not yet seeing the grandchildren as I won't be able to resist giving them a bit of a squash and a squeeze Blush. For me that is the best way to avoid the temptation of a glass of red with my steak on a Friday evening (have to drive to meet her). Glass of wine or walk in the evening sunshine with dd - no competition!

Food today. Will break 16 hour fast with a creamy coffee
L - left over cauliflower rice with fried eggs and fried peppers
D - steak, mushrooms, shallots, buttery spinach, blue cheese sauce

Rshard · 29/05/2020 08:05

That’s tough squishy, hope you’re ok.

venusandmars · 29/05/2020 08:17

I've found the calorie counting interesting. It's made me aware of portion size, lump of butter size, and has helped me to plan and stick to it without adding in snacks - which I know I don't need or even really want. I am sure that this one week of counting will help over the next few weeks.

However... for me it make me feel competitive with others. Day one, I planned out my food it was 1000 cals give or take a couple. Ditto day 2, and with carbs about 30-40g. All good, uber bootcamp compliant and I should feel good about myself, certainly feeling less bloated. Then I see other posters at 850 cals and 15g carbs and I feel like I'm last in the race, and my feelings of doing well diminish.

So I'm continuing with the learning and counting this week, and continuing to work within uber bootcamp parameters but I'm not posting the numbers and I'm trying to see my eating plan from one step back. Am I eating a good variety of vegetables every day? Am I drinking lots of lovely water? Am I feeling satiated and content? Yes. Brilliant. That's enough.

BrassicaBabe · 29/05/2020 08:40

I feel like that sometimes on Strava Venus. It's hard to focus on your own achievement sometimes. Plus, I'm pretty sure it wasn't a race to the bottom! Grin

I'm going to stick with the calorie counting for another week I think. Particularly items like butter and mayo. I think it's helpful for me to have an idea of how many calories I'm throwing into a recipe with each (half pat) knob of butter.

prettybird · 29/05/2020 08:44

I agree with you venusandmars Even though I've chosen not to formally count my calories, I've found that just being aware that there is a calorie limit has helped be more focussed about not snacking out of habit.

And to be honest, the other people doing the calorie counting has helped me in my own assessment of what I'm having Grin so I'm able to avoid the faff Wink

It's helped me get back in the Zone and learnt to listen to my real feelings of hunger (which is actually almost never Shock) rather than snacking out of habit.

Laska2Meryls · 29/05/2020 08:46

I have the headaches and feel so thirsty today, despite drinking loads of water.. now on black coffee with a little salt in.. I know this will pass ..
Yesterday good , mushroom omelette at midday then roast guinea fowl ( found in bottom of freezer, left over from Christmas!) And fennel onion and red pepper sauteed together .. realised after that thats 2 higher carb veg.. and several water with lemon and ice in a wine glass ( makes it feel like a drink!!)
Tonight it'll be stir fry... with the rest of the guinea fowl and prawns with lots of veg

Soy sauce is out I presume ? ( Ill go look it up)
Id usually do a peanut chilli miso sauce ( no dugar) too, any ideas of substitute?

Makegoodchoices · 29/05/2020 08:53

I’ve only just seen this - exactly what I needed thank you @BIWI !
Starting this morning and the husband has just brought my the first black coffee of many!

Usually intermittent fasting gives me insomnia, but as the antihistamines for hay fever knock me out it’s an excellent time to give it a go!

devoncreamtea · 29/05/2020 08:54

Flowers for squishy. That is hard to handle. Is you DP otherwise kind and supportive of you? Some people have a hard time with the idea of dieting or stopping alcohol, because they think it reflects negatively on their choices. Hope you are ok.

Laska2Meryls · 29/05/2020 09:00

Oh good, soy sauce is ok and sesame oil, ill work out a chilli ginger lime and spring onion sauce for my stir fry..

PseudoBadger · 29/05/2020 09:07

Is it allowed to have a boullion or oxo drink during the fasting period?

devoncreamtea · 29/05/2020 09:09

Well I had a quick look at the scales, which is pointless as I know what they will say - bugger all. And after being poorly yesterday and not eating much of anything....still the same. I am going to be that person. Watched some vids on YouTube of Suzanne Ryan - Ketokarma. I find her very inspiring. But Keto/American style and I do worry about her lack of flgv!!
Hay fever is a thorn in my side too makegoodchoices . As if we need to feel snotty in the sunshine! What do you take for it?
Food today
Usual breakfast scrambled egg, kimchi, avocado
L tuna salad
D bun less burger and salad

BIWI · 29/05/2020 09:11

Flowers @SquishyBones

Well done, too, for admitting that here. That's very brave of you.

I think you need to have a chat with your DH about this, in the cold and sober light of day. He must know that you are trying to tackle this issue, and he must therefore also know that he was sabotaging your best efforts.

No doubt he'll defend himself by saying something along the lines of 'well you didn't have to have one' - but that's not the point.

@venusandmars has some very good advice there, I think. Next time - if there is a next time - you should find it easier to refuse, because you know the impact it will have.
