Good evening!

Trying to get ahead of everything, as I know tomorrow will be a real rush with people signing up, etc.

Here's the spreadsheet with many thanks to the ever lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready for her sterling efforts

Sneaky WI this morning shows 2lb down already. I’d forgotten how much I love Bootcamp.

I’m actually enjoying keeping tabs on my calories, not something I’ve ever done properly before but I’ve found it interesting. Definitely makes me think about the portion sizes I usually eat. Also loving the IF, can easily go to lunchtime just on black coffee and really enjoy my meals cos I’m properly hungry for them.

Have a good day everyone!

BIWI · 27/05/2020 08:59

@PrimalLass

Also I've been drinking so much bloody fruit juice recently and that's jam packed with sugar. I'd like to cut down on that too. Too much sugar gives me headaches but I still won't stop.

I was like that too with my daughter. Obsessed with ice cold grapefruit juice.

Can't remember who said that, @PrimalLass, but whoever it was - I hope that you've given up the sugar now?!!!

I also had a think about grapefruit juice when I was pregnant. I used to drink it mixed with slimline tonic as it made a really refreshing, not-too-sweet drink.

Good to see I’m not alone in the weird dreams stakes - I dreamed I was getting chased by a witch at one point Hmm

BIWI · 27/05/2020 09:02

@ilovecherries

You're absolutely right about the not feeling hungry on this WOE. When I first read Dr John Briffa's stuff, back in the day, and he talked about failure on diets NOT being about lack of willpower, but about the hunger caused by too much insulin/low blood sugar, it was like a lightbulb going off in my head.

All those years of blaming myself, when actually it was the food I was eating, because that's what we were being told to eat!

Switching to low carb and finding that I simply wasn't hungry between meals was an absolute revelation. With the added benefit, of course, that it keeps you motivated and makes it easier to stick to.

Just wait till you start dreaming about eating a Mars Bar, or a slice of cake - those are really bad dreams. Waking up feeling guilty is not the best way to start the day!

gingery Grin

You're on, @felippertyfeck

2lbs down today for me! Feeling less blobby with it. Not really got enough green stuff left in the house now - don't really want to make a tiny trip to the local shop (Scotland so still being a bit stricter than England). Will see if the veg bed if producing enough chard/perp spinach to make a salad out of at lunchtime.

Having said that, some of the celery is getting quite large, and I could add some dill and parsley... think chances are good actually of getting a bowl of green.

Dinner will be the other steak, and yet more broccoli and leeks in butter.

Ragwort · 27/05/2020 09:08

First day yesterday

Brunch was chipolatas, mushrooms & a fried egg
Dinner was roast chicken and a large green salad

Best news of all was no alcohol (only the second day in lockdown when I haven’t had a glass - or three - of wine Blush).

Long walk after dinner and liked the IF - feel great this morning, two large glasses of water and a black coffee - not hungry at all.

Feeling positive, the first time I did Boot Camp I lost over two stone, second time I did it I was a bit half hearted and only lost a stone (note - I am three stone overweight) so this has given me the motivation to start again. At least a month to go on furlough, no children to home school so I have no excuse but to just.get.on.with.it Grin.

Flippinfurloughed · 27/05/2020 09:08

I did a sneaky weigh in as well and am 2lbs down. It’s motivated me to keep going!

I seem to have opposite problems with calories - I was struggling to get them to 800 yesterday and ended up increasing my meat amounts so I could hit that target. I’m loving IF, it seems to really work with my life and I really notice the weight coming off when I stick to it. Weirdly, it’s nice to feel hungry too. I remember as a child feeling hungry and waiting for meals eagerly, but now I snack so much I rarely get to that point. It’s like I’m more in touch with my body?

MrsKoala · 27/05/2020 09:25

Thanks BIWI.

I’m not having more odd dreams - well no stranger than normal - they seem to increase in the warmer weather anyway. But I am waking earlier with more energy. I tried to sleep past 7 this morning after going to bed at 11. But I just couldn’t. Usually I would sleep 10 hours happily but on LC I can’t go much longer than 7-8 hours. I took the opportunity to get up before everyone else and do 30 mins body sculp, 30 mins Pilates and 10 mins upper body weights.

I also like IF because I like feeling hungry. (I like feeling cold and hot too - I seem to like physical stimulation/discomfort like that). My stomach is making some really loud noises now but I’m happily sipping my lemon and ginger tea feeling calm and content.

Have a good day everyone.

Rshard · 27/05/2020 09:29

I love all the additional benefits to this woe; better sleep in particular as I’m a bit of an insomniac. My skin is also better, it was dreadful at the beginning of lockdown, stress I think.

What other benefits do people find?

NigellaAwesome · 27/05/2020 09:38

Hello all, still have a bit of catching up to do on the thread, but just checking in for accountability.

94.5kg on Monday, up 12kg since my lowest last Sept. calorie counting is a faff, but interesting to log on MFP. I struggled to get enough calories in on Monday, was just below 800, but then I was hungry yesterday and had some Brazil nuts and my word, I was shocked when I put them into MFP!

IF doing ok, low carb fine - 21g carbs yesterday and 14 the day before (not sure how accurate MFP is, as that seems on the low side, and I had plenty of veg.

I hope everyone else is managing well. I'll read thread later.

Randomfatty · 27/05/2020 09:51

Morning all - glad I’m not the only one with weird dreams - mine involved me fighting snakes - cobras and black mambos?! Confused Not scary at all more like I was in a 3D version of my dream world!

Had a good day yesterday managed a 30min walk to the post office - should have worn better shoes than flip flops! And a 45min weights session online - am aching in all sorts of places today Sad

Have planned my meals for today as was slightly over with carbs and cals yesterday once I added to mfp.
So eggs, smoked salmon and avo for lunch and courgettini with pesto and sea bass tonight. Snack of Greek yoghurt in the afternoon - 800 cals and 46carbs so hopefully this keeps me full up.

Exercise - planned 45min session on treadmill!

Hope everyone has a good day!

ShagMeRiggins · 27/05/2020 09:52

I remember first bootcamp when we were able to go BC Lite and have nuts. Cue me chomping away on all my favourites then when someone mentioned almonds being particularly low carb it finally occurred to me to check the carb counts on nuts. Hmm

Some are definitely friendlier than others. Really worth learning about because nuts are such an easy go-to as a snack, especially with the satisfying bonus of crunch, which many people miss from no crisps.

The upshot is—because I don’t really like plain almonds or macadamia or the other low carb ones—I rarely eat nuts now and snack more on baby bel or a spoonful or Ardennes pâté. More fat, less hunger.

BIWI · 27/05/2020 10:02

... and as for the calories in nuts Shock

devoncreamtea · 27/05/2020 10:05

Gah just lost my post! I was looking back to say to @Mummyoflittledragon regarding coconut oil - could you just replace it as your cooking oil? Then you don’t have to worry about eating it by itself. Veg - esp broccoli and cauli - is lush fried in coconut too.
Same sort of food as yesterday for me - 1135 cals and 19 carbs.
Have a good day all!

venusandmars · 27/05/2020 10:09

Two interesting things yesterday. First I discovered I have an issue with food waste (which turns into a venusandmars food waist!). So yesterday I had meals all planned and logged into mfp. Then as I was making my omelette for lunch I spotted some feta in the fridge, looking like it needed eating up soon. So that was another 66 calories. At dinner time when I was reheating the thai red curry I found some coconut cream that needed used or thrown out another 97 calories. I somehow can't bear to waste the food, but I need to be more careful about examining the fridge before I plan my daily menu so I can take it into account early in the day. If I'd missed out the half avocado at lunch time that would have balanced things out.

The second thing was walking to the supermarket (round trip of 6000 steps). Carried my shopping home on a backpack and 2 bags which I think counted as half an hour of weight training! I was exhausted when I got home so I weighed the shopping - 27 pounds, damn near 2 stones. And to think that a few years ago I used to carry that around with me all the time. Looking forward to losing another stone, and noticing how much freer I feel.

Food today (with no extra leftovers added in!)
After 16 hour fast: creamy coffee
L - tuna mayonnaise and salad with avocado
D - shakshuka with feta cheese and spinach

Which comes in at 863 calories and 34g carb

venusandmars · 27/05/2020 10:15

And for water... I've got a very pretty jug on my desk, 900ml water and ice. No excuse not to continually top up my glass.

csa26 · 27/05/2020 10:18

Hello everyone. Managed to stick to it yesterday (probably a bit over on calories again but everything else fine) and now down 3.5lb on a couple of days ago Smile. But ugh, I am lethargic. Feel like I have no energy at all. I haven't had my normal cup of black coffee yet this morning so I'm going to try that and some water and see if it improves things. Can't have breakfast for another hour!

Period started today so that could also have something to do with it.

Also, is anybody else getting loads of spots? I know that my skin is affected by the amount of carbs I eat (usually find it's much better when low carb) and it could also be pre-menstrual hormones.

Wormthatturned · 27/05/2020 10:29

Terrible boot camp day yesterday. I went to see my mum - first time in weeks. She's got an odd relationship with food/fat/weight which I find difficult to handle so I hadn't mentioned this boot camp.
Anyway, she was really so pleased to see me and had made a special lunch to eat in the garden with homemade bread and cake. It's so unusual for her to 'treat' me with food and she'd made so much effort that I shut up, smiled and took a small sandwich, little slice of cake and enjoyed seeing her. It was a lovely time.
So, today, back to the starting line for me!

NoraEphronsneck · 27/05/2020 10:30

CSA I came on this morning to say exactly the same thing.

Have eaten really well over last few days, about 900-1050 calories and roughly 44g of carbs each day and finding 16/8 a doddle so far.

But feel so lethargic today after a reasonably good night's sleep. I'm pre-menstrual too though so that could be it I suppose.

Notwatchingtvtoday · 27/05/2020 10:31

Morning all
I’m 2 lbs down and I feel like I have mentally shifted back into eating low carbs, I think eating 3 meals together meant that I was having things like bread that I would usually avoid.
Have also moved to eating between 10am and 8pm, but still 3 meals, I’m being mindful of portion sizes / calories but trying not to obsess

B Greek yogurt, 2 coffees each with ml double cream (that’s a tiny teaspoon)
L 2 eggs with Hellman’s , salad and avocado
D chicken breasts cooked with leeks and served with roasted broccoli

Notwatchingtvtoday · 27/05/2020 10:32

That’s 1 chicken breast and 160g Greek yogurt

CalendulaAndRoses · 27/05/2020 10:37

morning all - woke really early again but didn't get up straightaway. Had weird dream that DP shaved off his beard and then turned into a Mr Blobby type character. It was a struggle to pretend he was still attractive. Was very glad when I woke up to find he still had all his facial hair and hadn't gone bloblike Grin

Had a couple of cups of black coffee and have my jug of water on desk to keep me going. I find having a jug and glass to fill really helps for some reason, rather than just drinking straight from a bottle. But I'm working at desk all day long so that's prob why, would be different if I were on the go with kids etc.

Fasting til 12 then will have
L: leftover fish pie and leafy greens
D: big salad with mackeral, feta, olives and eggs
will squeeze a couple of spoonfuls of greek yoghurt in along the way

Hoping my headache is less today
Not decided on exercise yet, working til late so will prob be half hour of yoga and a half hour walk once I am finished around 8

PseudoBadger · 27/05/2020 10:46

I had a dream that I was swimming the 50m medley event at the Olympics. Badly.
