Good evening!

Trying to get ahead of everything, as I know tomorrow will be a real rush with people signing up, etc.

Here's the spreadsheet with many thanks to the ever lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready for her sterling efforts

Morning fellow Bootcampers!
Day 1 for me here.

I lost 10lbs for my wedding last year by going low carb and low calorie. But since lockdown I've gained a lb a week and so … they've all gone back on. My clothes look awful on me. My face is all puffy and jowly. And I struggle with my alcohol intake so I thought I'd make myself more accountable by checking in daily. Sadly when I look back at my wedding photos I still think I looked a bit on the heavy side so my ideal weight may actually be lower than I thought.

I like seeing other peoples meal plans and the feeling of all being in this together!

I've found it really hard to be motivated in lockdown as I'm sure many others have. If I use MFP it usually keeps me on the straight and narrow but I've slipped off that too so must dust it off.

Meal plan today.
Lunch = turkey and lettuce salad.
Dinner = aubergine and halloumi skewers on the BBQ.

Have a good day everyone. This water intake is too much, feel like I'm drowning!

@Randomfatty (hopefully you'll be changing that name soon!)

Question - does anyone else have disturbed sleeping when they start fasting and give up starchy carbs

Yes, this happens to me - but it's more related to giving up alcohol! I think carbs can make you feel drowsy, which obviously can be helpful when going to sleep, which is the same as alcohol.

But going by lots of other people's accounts, once your body is used to going without the carbs, you should find that you're sleeping better (even if, possibly, less) and will have a lot more energy.

Yeah BigJohn. Always great to hear how you are doing.

12-8 eating window
L: Salmon fillet and celery soup left over from yesterday
D: roast chicken leg and buttered leeks

Comes in at 958 calories and 10g carbs

Plan for a gentle bike ride c16k (about an hour) and to complete 10K steps (currently at 761 Grin)

PastramiNoRye · 26/05/2020 11:01

I feel less bloated already. I think upping the water has made a big difference, despite constantly needing the loo!

I couldn't stop thinking about food yesterday morning but today's been easier. Morrison's is doing a lovely rhubarb and strawberry tea, which is helping!

Randomfatty · 26/05/2020 11:20

@BIWI thanks BIWI - don't really drink at the moment so it won't be the booze! I'll just persevere!! Yep - I'll change the name when I've lost 20lbs so it may be a while yet! Grin

Polkadotties · 26/05/2020 11:21

When I start low carbing I find it really hard to get to sleep, once asleep I sleep very deeply and have really vivid and weird dreams.
After a nearly a week I find it much easier to fall asleep, the weird dreams stay though

venusandmars · 26/05/2020 11:35

Yup, a night full of weird dreams last night...

I'm half a pound up this morning, but already I feel less bloated and sort of 'cleaner' which is motivating for keeping on with the water.

IF from 7.30pm, to 11.30pm broken with creamy coffee

L - omelette with mushrooms and ham, and a side of avocado
D - thai red chicken curry with cauliflower rice and some spinach

1006 cals and 34g carb (or thereabouts)

Rshard · 26/05/2020 11:49

Quick question - are fruit teas ok while fasting?

PseudoBadger · 26/05/2020 11:50

Just had brunch - 2 bacon, 2 eggs cooked in OO and mushrooms cooked in butter.

BIWI · 26/05/2020 12:17

@Rshard yes they should be - just check to make sure they aren't sweetened in any way though

I'm really enjoying eating low carb breakfasts again Smile I've been having cereals for quite some time now and they dont keep me satiated for very long.

Today i had a cheese and sundried tomato 3 egg omelette with a side salad with mint and lemon juice.

Happy tummy Grin

StarryStrawberry · 26/05/2020 12:23

Feeling so much better today, thank you for the article and the tips on taking in enough salt.
I'm doing 16:8 but window is 10am-6pm as I have a toddler and struggle with running on empty when he's up early. DH happy to have his main meal just before 6 as he goes to bed v. early anyway. Today's menu:

Breakfast- slightly against the nut rules but a pancake fried in butter, made using eggs, quark and a couple of tbsp of almond flour.
360 cal, 10g carbs

Lunch- creamy cauliflower soup and tuna salad
300 cal, 15g carbs

Dinner- stir fried veg (mainly green) and turkey breast, soy sauce
200 cal, 6g carbs

Few snacks of ham and cherry tomatoes
100 cal, 3g carbs

cockneylass · 26/05/2020 12:28

How many carbs in 100g avocado? I don’t know if I trust MFP as there are lots of different and wildly varied results!

ilovecherries · 26/05/2020 12:31

Well, I crashed into BC with an unplanned 36 hour fast due to some bug, but feeling a lot better today. Carbs and cals were zero yesterday. I’m just about to brave a couple of scrambled eggs - wish me luck! Obviously no exercise yesterday, I slept off and on all day, but if the eggs stay in place, will have a bit of a walk later.

ShagMeRiggins · 26/05/2020 12:41

Too busy with work to say much, just waving to everyone and glad you’re better cherries

Hopeislost · 26/05/2020 12:48

@cockneylass According to the spreadsheet, avocado is 1.9g carbs per 100g

Glad to hear you're feeling better @ilovecherries

prettybird · 26/05/2020 13:01

2lb down already Smile

....but a lot of that will be water and releasing from glycogen stores. Which explains why I woke up three times during the night to go to the loo Hmm

From past experience, I know that usually settles down in about a week. Smile

Today's lunch is two cold hard boiled eggs (with lo-salt and pepper) (boiled along with yesterday's lunch of soft boiled eggs). Dinner will be 2 lamb chops (marinaded for a wee bit with some olive oil and oregano) with a rocket salad and some broccoli.

Ninkanink · 26/05/2020 13:14

Lunch was a two egg omelette with a small amount of woodland mushrooms, one very small sundried tomato, one small spring onion. Fried in a small amount of butter and a splash of olive oil.

Haven’t weighed or measured but I’m going to call it 300cal.

Black iced coffee this morning, peppermint tea, and water to drink.

Now going to enjoy my first cup of proper tea with milk. 👍

LostaraYil · 26/05/2020 13:15

Feeling good today, managed to delay breakfast till 12 even though I was up at 6. I was shocked though to find that my breakfast of scrambled eggs, avocado, smoked salmon and olives came to over 700 cal. I need to skip lunch so I can fit the burger I was planning on for dinner within the calorie count.

1Wildheartsease · 26/05/2020 13:19

Working hard here but happy - and I feel lighter :)

sunshinewishes · 26/05/2020 13:33

Lunch was half an avocado, some chicken breast, cucumber and pepper with a small blob of mayo.
Snack of a cheddar stick.

Rshard · 26/05/2020 13:41

Thanks BIWI

Patapouf · 26/05/2020 14:23

Feeling a little less hungry today which is great. I drank only 3.5l out of 4 yesterday so i'm hoping that doesn't impede my weight loss too much.

i'm seeing lots of lovely meals on the thread, i'm feeling very inspired for our very overdue food shop.

lunch today was a sausage chaffle 'sandwich' with a bit of lettuce & mayo. Dinner will be leftover lamb and possibly a salad, depends on wha i can rustle up from an empty fridge!

Jofish26 · 26/05/2020 14:27

Doing ok so far, apart from a wafty(felt very hot, although that could be my age) moment in Morrisons earlier.I know I hadn't drunk enough water and was just before lunch. As I have so much weight to lose I am starting out slow on the IF and only doing 12ish hours and will work up to more.

I have never drunk this amount of water and it might be a reason that I have struggled in recent years to lose any weight at all. Tried plain full fat yoghurt for breakfast yesterday, gave up and had a hard boiled egg and had 2 this morning with some mayonnaise.Tuna salad for lunch and chicken breast with roasted veg for dinner. I am also having a bit of trouble calculating carbs and calories but think at most I had 1140 calories and 32g of carbs. Will use MFP and weigh every single thing today.

PseudoBadger · 26/05/2020 14:28

Very hungry today. Just had to have an avocado and coffee with cream. Then suddenly had quite an upset tummy Blush
