Nice bit of Spanglish to start the new thread!

Unfortunately I can’t find a way to link to the spreadsheet so I would be very grateful if someone could do that for me.

I'm away at my DB and SIL's right so haven’t had a chance to catch up with the week 7 thread, but hope everyone has been doing well, KOKOing and therefore seeing good results on the scales, with their clothes and/or with the tape measure.

—And before @StuntNun dobs me in I will confess to having fallen into pizza and fish and chips this weekend—

Yes it is! Old habits die hard

1Wildheartsease · 06/12/2019 12:54

Stayed the same weight for quite some while... but comfortable with this WOE and happy not to be gaining. I feel light and strong and can do so much more than before.

I think that dairy is a problem for me (as in it slows weight loss) :( but I'm not ready to ditch it - as it does satisfy me and I think is the reason I don't just go back to binge-eating and see-sawing weight. Steady is important ... I must find a balance.

ShagMeRiggins · 06/12/2019 13:37

Wildheartsease what else could satisfy you other than dairy, to fine that balance?

Yes it is! Old habits die hard

exitstrategist what are you going to do (other than LCHF) to change your habit/mindset?

Might I suggest KOKO with this way of eating?

If you’re both enjoying your food, seeing results, and feeling better...why wouldn’t you? Make tweaks here and there with dairy or water or meals, but it’s working. And it’s fabulous.

StuntNun · 06/12/2019 14:56

Exitstrategist weight loss on a low carb diet is as a result of calorie intake being lower than calorie expenditure. The main difference is that on low carb you should still eat to satiety for best results.

Nonononon · 06/12/2019 17:48

Food today.
L: x2 egg omelette with ham and cheese, lettuce and a little bit of coleslaw on the side.
S: cup of blueberries and a LC sausage.
D: some spicy ribs (not in a sauce, they had a sort of dry rub on them) whole head of broccoli in a Philadelphia and parmesan sauce.

absopugginglutely · 06/12/2019 18:15

I’m going for a meal out tonight with work and am going to have
S: buttery garlic mushrooms
M: baked aubergine with veg and feta/ tomato sauce
I reeeeeaally want the cheese cake for pudding but haven’t had sugar for so long that I worry I’ll knock myself off course for a few days. Maybe it isn’t worth it what do people do if they’re in a one off situation like this?

KondoKonvert · 06/12/2019 18:25

@absopugginglutely sounds yum! I tend to go for a creamy coffee and a liqueur on the side (or in it). Makes it feel less like I'm missing out x

KondoKonvert · 06/12/2019 18:25

Random x there!!

absopugginglutely · 06/12/2019 19:25

KondoKonvert Sounds lovely any recommendations for liquers?
Thank you!

KondoKonvert · 06/12/2019 19:51

I'm quite a fan of amaretto in my coffee or a bourbon alongside it but my absolute favourite is Bailey's...not exactly LCHF friendly but has to be better than a pudding!

ShagMeRiggins · 06/12/2019 20:42

Cheese platter, but specify no crackers or bread. Or chutney. Just cheese. Or ask for celery instead.

Bluntness100 · 06/12/2019 20:50

It's absolutely not.

StuntNun · 06/12/2019 21:55

Totes is.

DownUdderer · 06/12/2019 23:22

I’m down a couple of pounds today, that’s a stone off since starting BC. I’m trying to refocus this week.

I’m off to have eggs for breakfast in a mo.

StuntNun · 07/12/2019 06:19

A stone is brilliant Down well done. I'm sure you can really see a difference.

DownUdderer · 07/12/2019 07:17

Yeah, I should have taken photos!

BIWI · 07/12/2019 08:53

@Exitstrategist - you really do need to drink the water and also make sure you're eating properly - which on Bootcamp means eating when you're hungry until you feel (comfortably) full.

High protein and fat will all contribute to the satiety, which is important. But the key thing is keeping the carbs low, because this then keeps your blood sugar level, and keeps the three key hormones (insulin, leptin and grehlin) in balance. This is crucial as this is what keeps your appetite suppressed.

At the start of low carbing, before you get the hang of it (or if you go off piste!), things get out of whack which can mean sometimes you're extra hungry - and also then prone to weight gain.

Go and have a read of the resources on the spreadsheet to find out more about the science behind low carbing, so you can get yourself out of the 'eat less move more' frame of mind.

Ultimately, calories do come into play - but on this WOE that really only becomes and issue if you're really over-eating, I think. As you get closer to your target weight you may have to pay attention to how many calories you're eating, but it's really not something to obsess over, as long as you're eating high fat/medium protein/low carb.

This is one of the difficult decisions you will have to face fairly regularly! However, do you really want to do it while you're still doing Bootcamp? Cheesecake will still be there when we've finished, or when you've reached your desired weight.

It will throw you out of whack, and the risk is that not only is it likely to stop the weight loss (or even lead to a gain), but that you might find it very hard to avoid the carbs after that.

Ultimately it's up to you Smile. If it's a special meal, I'd consider going for the cheesecake, but then be brutally strict about getting back on the wagon afterwards. Drink more water and do more exercise too.

However, if it's just a night out with work colleagues, and not a special meal or occasion, then why sabotage what you've worked so hard to achieve? Remember what you felt like when the weight wasn't shifting! You've just succeeded in dumping another 2lbs, so you're doing really well.

Go for cheese not cheesecake!

Great stuff DownUdderer!

Had a Christmas get together with some if the mums from DD's school last night. The hostess has put on the most amazing spread with homemade sausage rolls and pinwheels. I managed to avoid the sweet stuff and crisps but did enjoy a couple of the mini sausage rolls, it was worth it, they were particularly delicious. Otherwise stuck to olives, cheese without the crackers and a few nuts. Probably had a bit too much wine though.

ShagMeRiggins · 07/12/2019 16:35

Surprise fish & chips for lunch today, courtesy of visiting father-in-law. Didn’t eat the chips and pulled batter off the fish, but admit I got tempted and did eat a couple of bites of the batter.

Tonight is a small piece courgette lasagna (it’s very cheesy but at least has very little virtually no tomato in the sauce) and three X green veg.

Had a really good weigh-in today (3lbs down, very unusual for me) so keeping up with WATER! as I think that’s had a lot to do with it. Hope it lasts until Monday.

KOKO all.

absopugginglutely · 07/12/2019 18:44

@BIWI thank you for your thoughtful message. I did have the cheese cake but it hasn’t pulled me off course today and I don’t think it will in general. I figured that I’ve lost a stone in the past couple of months, I’m feeling great and it’s a complete one off (I never really go out to set menu things)

Today I’ve been guzzling water like mad and haven’t felt hungry at all!

It was nice but way too filling and I’ve found that sugary things although they can occupy your mind, they’re very rarely actually ‘worth’ the hormonal disruption and affect they have on my body.

ShagMeRiggins · 07/12/2019 20:51

I’ve found myself happy, in the occasional circumstance, to eat half a cheesecake serving—cheesecake is a weakness even though I’m not interested in desserts. I often offer the rest to others.

It’s fairly satisfying to have a cheesecake blast and resist the rest. Because I’ve had my fill.

ShagMeRiggins · 07/12/2019 20:51

Which is to say well done. Wink

absopugginglutely · 07/12/2019 23:07

@ShagMeRiggins thank you!

DownUdderer · 08/12/2019 01:30

I had cauliflower, broccoli and carrots with cream and cheese last night for dinner. Yum
