Morning!

Here's what you have all been waiting for!

I love this week, because there are always some fabulous results - and those who really didn't believe it was going to work are always amazed!

I hate the way that, somehow, a diet is seen as trivial whereas we all know that carrying too much weight is bad for our health.

Rather than say you're on a diet, however, you could always say that you've been advised (no need to say by whom Wink) that you need to change your diet to avoid pre-diabetes.

Which is absolutely true Halo

BIWitch · 23/10/2019 10:24

... and also, by now, if you've read enough of the resources you ought to be able cogently about why all of the stuff about blood sugar or LC being a fad is simply not true!

Sorry you weren't feeling too good @GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal - I had that dizziness on Monday and it was horrible. I think I'm building up for a cold, so was fairly sure it was probably part of that, and it was very unpleasant.

Nonononon · 23/10/2019 10:39

Morning all!
Been on my walk and just had breakfast
Big bowl of broth (again Grin) with some onion, lots of kale, garlic, soy sauce, ginger (powder) and roast pork. I made sure to add the fatty bits of the pork too (I'd usually trim them off)
I've also rendered the fat that was on the top of the broth and have it saved in a jar, I'll use it for frying stuff (also added a spoonful to the broth this morning when frying the veg)
L: I'm just gonna keep it simple, eggs and mayo, celery, olives and some feta.
D: chilli with cauli rice (ill cook the cauliflower in the remainder of the broth)

Its getting later and later when i fancy breakfast in the morning so this will set me up nicely for being on two meals a day as of next week.

I watched this
Last night and he explained it really well.

This is going to be my long term plan.

venusandmars · 23/10/2019 10:44

absopugginglutely I'm the same at my MIL's who is 90, crippled with arthritis but battles through it to make cake when we visit. I sometimes have seconds of main course and veg, then say I'm a bit full, could I take my pudding / cake home with me...

I think my cheese / cream intake was rather high last week, so I'm planning on having less of that. I don't need to snack, I'm not hungry but I've got into a habit of opening the fridge and eating a piece of cheese (quite a large piece). Plus adding cream to my butter coffee, cream to spinach, cream and cheese to vegetables. I've had very gurgley guts, so probably too much dairy.

B - butter coffee
L - avocado salad, egg mayonnaise
D - salmon wrapped in ham, kale, mushrooms

AthelstaneTheWhoooOOOooo · 23/10/2019 10:44

mmmm, eggs. not eaten yet. can see mashed egg and butter in my very near future.

DownUdderer · 23/10/2019 10:55

I’ve cut down on my cheese consumption the last 3 days. I think I was having too much.

Nonononon · 23/10/2019 11:04

Me too DownUdderer and ive lost 2lbs since Monday Shock
I only lost 1.5lbs for the whole of last week.. not done anything different other that cutting right back on dairy 🤷‍♀️

Cauliflowerpower · 23/10/2019 12:03

Morning (just)!!!

Not hungry really again today so I've just had a little pick at some bacon this morning and I had cream in my coffee first thing.

One of the DTs is poorly so I've dropped one a nursery, and fetched my laptop from work (with the other). And come home. I'm planted on the sofa watching aristocats !!! Ahem.... Working from home....

I'm shattered. Happy to be sofa bound.... kept waking in the night to check her temperature.... you know s 4 year old is poorly when they turn down chocolate

Anyway B creamy coffee, bit o bacon/sausage

L - fridge raid. Probably cucumber as pate/cheese crackers again

D -lamb koftas with tzatziki and guacamole and salad

Have a good day all

Must get and drink some water...

KondoKonvert · 23/10/2019 12:17

@PrimaDonna123 I really struggle with telling people I am on a diet/eating a certain way. I think it’s because I’m fat and I think if I tell people then don’t automatically lose two stone in a week, they’ll think I’ve failed AGAIN. And also I think many people, certainly in my circle of friends and family, would view LC as a fad and start with the unnecessary comments, both to my face and behind my back. This time only DH and one close friend know what I’m doing. If I lose a fair chunk of my chunk and people ask how I’ve done it, I will tell them but find it difficult at the early stage, most probably because this is not my first rodeo and I know I struggle to stick with it long term.

This rings so true with me. Especially people asking how it's going/how much you've lost/looking me up and down to see if they can see the EVIDENCE yet!

venusandmars · 23/10/2019 12:51

Lovely 'eat a rainbow salad' glistening with olive oil and mayonnaise.

Week 2 - October Low Carb Bootcamp - how did you all do?!
VeryLittleOwl · 23/10/2019 13:00

B: Yoghurt
L: Cheese crust omelette
S: Piri-piri chicken with loadsa veg

VeryLittleOwl · 23/10/2019 13:00

Oh, and NSV - I can take my jeans off without undoing them Grin

Burnshersmurfs · 23/10/2019 13:32

Congratulations, Owl!

PrimaDonna123 · 23/10/2019 13:41

Exactly Kondo, I feel like as soon as people know what I’m doing, I’m under scrutiny. Whether or not that’s in my head or not, I don’t know.

And I could never, for example, see MIL understanding or even trying to. Thankfully she is a dreadful cook so we only eat there very occasionally Wink

absopugginglutely · 23/10/2019 14:08

I also keep it really quiet when I'm low caring because people just want to pull you off your path and it's annoying!
I love it when people start noticing that Im losing weight and i can act all casual about it (even though it's a big ship to turn around in the low carb direction and takes lots of focus!)
B: Buttery omelette 1 egg and salami
Lunch: Cafe Nero have a breakfast pot with mushrooms, sausage, egg, mushrooms, bacon and tomatoes so i had that- it was lovely and very filling!
D: Not sure what it will be yet.

Bought some herbal teas (Pukka three mint and mint and liquorice) to up my water intake- do these count?

It's hard drinking water on chilly days)

MrsTerryPratchett · 23/10/2019 14:22

Re crackling.. have you tried lemon juice? Make sure the skin is dry, then rub lemon juice over the top and then sprinkle with salt. Don't know why but it works.

And a kettle of boiling water over it, after scoring and before the oven.

Twit · 23/10/2019 15:19

Hi!
I ended up eating some salmon paste for my dinner yesterday. (4.3 carbs btw 😬)
I picked up a bit for tea and had pork belly and loads of spinach. Had 2.5l of water as well, so all in all not too bad.
Today is better, and so far I have eaten...
B: 1 aldi meatser 😂 and a bulletproof decaff coffee
D: tuna mayonnaise (oily fish and ff mayo)
T: roast chicken and roasted broccoli and cauliflower with butter.
Am getting through my water as well, so yay!

venusandmars · 23/10/2019 15:23

Herbal teas great for water intake (plus infusing them in cold water for the summer). Just watch out for things like this apple tea where this first ingredient is sugar and carbs are 95.5g / 100g Shock !!! I visited an elderly neighbour who gave me this. It was undrinkable.

Feeling bewilderment and frustration at some of the threads on MN today.. rate my diet had me looking at the food lists and feeling slightly ill. I've been lc for ages and there was not much in there that tempted me one iota (unlike the lovely food lists posted here which have me wishing I had 10 days in the week so I could try all the delicious food).

And then people replying to a general question about keto (which this thread is not) were talking about constipation (eat FLGV and drink water, water, water). They were bored of the food option (see my comment above) and someone is even convinced that it caused their appendicitis. Had to lol at that one. I got appendicitis on a plane. Maybe the depressurisation exacerbated the pain but I'm pretty sure it didn't cause it Grin
must get of mn and back to work

SittingontheSidelines · 23/10/2019 15:34

Sorry I had a bold fail on my last post just realised. So it probably didn't make sense. The first paragraph was a quote.

SittingontheSidelines · 23/10/2019 15:46

That salad looks delicious @venusandmars

Rshard · 23/10/2019 16:35

I love your NSV verylittleowl!

And your salad looks delicious venus, don’t they say food has to appeal to the eye first and that certainly does!

Crazy day today and I managed to ignore the bite size toblerone that were in the office.

Nonononon · 23/10/2019 16:57

I decided to bake the cauliflower tonight with olive oil and curry powder.
Was very nice!

Nonononon · 23/10/2019 17:02

Well done on avoiding the chocs rshard !
As of tomorrow I'll be at work for a few days and we're always surrounded by cakes, chocolates etc 🙄 I'm so glad I'm now doing this woe as I found it hard to just "have one" and would always go mad and eat loads.. now they're totally out of bounds and I actually find that easier than trying to limit the number I would eat. Confused

Rshard · 23/10/2019 17:16

Thanks nononono, it’s the same at my workplace. - constant treats. I’m an abstainer and it sounds as though you are too! All or nothing!
