Morning all! Very sorry for the late start. I set my alarm. Woke up. Wondered why I'd set my alarm and went straight back to sleep Blush

Anyhoo.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

For those of us who are new, the spreadsheet is not only where you record your weight (if you want to - it's not obligatory), it's also where you'll find lots of other useful information. Look at the tabs at the bottom for the rules, a veg counter (that will work out your carb count for you if you're using it for a recipe), and lots of other resources to help you learn more about low carbing.

I'll be back to post more stuff later this morning, but for now just wanted to get the link out there.

If you're using your phone to access the thread, you will need to download the Google docs app.

Ooooh lovely kitchen BIWI you must be glad that the work is over and you have a working kitchen again!

Flowers for summersazz

Thought I was doing ok, but just realised that I ate one of the kids chicken nuggets without even thinking about it! Must get out of the habit of hoovering up their leftovers!

Almahart · 15/10/2019 17:32

Beautiful kitchen @BIWI, I absolutely love the book storage. And the huge fridge. I’ve saved the ratatouille halloumi bake recipe, it looks delicious

@SummerSazz I’m separating from my husband too. We’re in the same house at the mo but about to start divorce proceedings. I think whoever said that having a distraction in the form of bc was right. I do know that I wouldn’t feel any better (and in fact would feel worse) if I was eating my way through it

twinkledag · 15/10/2019 17:59

That kitchen is beautiful BIWI! And the Halloumi bake sounds nice, one to try.

MrsGarethSouthgate · 15/10/2019 18:01

I am doing 16:8 as well as low carb, so can't fit 3 meals in, but I've had no bread items/cake or sugar for 4 weeks now so am over the hunger.

Brunch - cheese omelette with pack of gouda slices (too much cheese - should have been avocado instead but it was rock solid and not ripe yet).

Dinner - bean sprouts, mushrooms and bamboo shoots fried in a shit-ton of butter, with quorn steak strips and then Boursin cheese stirred through.

On 4th bottle of water now, which will take me to just under 3 litres. Going to try for a 5th before bed (700ml a time) 💦

SittingontheSidelines · 15/10/2019 18:11

Dinner going to be late tonight and I wanted something to keep me going so made a chocolate and coconut green tea with almond milk, very little water lots of milk it's lovely.

canihaveabunplease · 15/10/2019 18:31

@graisse I love the idea of eggs mashed with boison!!!!!!

8Track · 15/10/2019 18:47

I've had a revelation!! Spicy avocado, a leftover chicken thigh, an egg and butter was a BRILL non-breakfasty breakfast today!! Screw you, breakfast foods!!

Almahart · 15/10/2019 18:54

@8Track one of my favourite breakfasts is grilled halloumi, hard boiled egg peeled cucumber and a bit of salt, and mayo or sour cream

Cauliflowerpower · 15/10/2019 19:10

If you need flavour in water I just pop an ordinary flavoured tea bag in mine cold. My fave was the buttermint or a red berry! Lovely and refreshing

Hallelujah! Grin

For water, I start off with a herbal tea-bag, and just keep adding boiling water every time I finish the mug. Ends up not tasting of anything by the end of the day, but by then I don't mind I'm drinking just plain hot water, ifswim.

BlueLilyLilyBlue · 15/10/2019 19:31

Adding to the chorus of beautiful kitchen @BIWI! Grin

B - boiled eggs and some cheese
L - sausages and some mushrooms
D - chicken, mozzarella and pesto with green beans and broccoli

And masses of water... Grin

Nonononon · 15/10/2019 20:21

Ah this is good to know about the tea bags, I've got some apple and pear flavoured tea but wasn't sure if they were 'allowed'
So today went sort of to plan but I have been snacking more than I'd like. Day looked like this.
B: ×2 eggs in mayo with loads of coleslaw
S1: cube of feta
L: left over bolagnaise with butter fried kale
S2: another cube of feta
D: x3 (Blush) chicken thighs with more coleslaw and some lettuce
S3: celery stick with FF cream cheese

X2 coffees with almond milk and loads of water.

My old diet brain is shouting "CALORIES CALORIES!!" But I'm trying to ignore it. 😬
I know I need to stop snacking but I'm getting insane cravings and these tide me over.
For those who have done BC before, does your appitie really reduce after a few weeks? I can't see how I'm going to lose weight at this rate..I'm loving the food and mostly satisfied but I know I should be eating less and can't seem to manage it just now.

Nonononon · 15/10/2019 20:24

Appetite*

MrsTerryPratchett · 15/10/2019 20:33

@Nonononon I find you do have to listen to your appetite but it's massively easier to listen to. So I had a few days off LC before BC started. I ate more bagels than I care to admit to. But LC bread? Meh one and I'm fine. Tastes nice enough but the craving isn't there.

Wibblytummy · 15/10/2019 20:41

Adore the kitchen @BIWI ! We're just in the stages of booking the builders in for our kitchen extension and rebuild and whilst excited, I'm dreading the long haul to get there! Lovely to see a gorgeous kitchen to remind me to be excited again!

B: 1/3 bacon mushroom frittata and 1/2 avocado.
L: Chicken, baby spinach, cucumber, Coleslaw and few chunks of Brie..
D: 3 sausages, courgette ribbons and mushrooms fried in butter, salt, pepper and (too many Blush) chilli flakes!

Snack was a pot of prawns from the to go bit of M&S!

IJustWantToWearDungarees · 15/10/2019 20:54

Beautiful kitchen, BIWI! And thank you for the advice on the meats. V relieved I can still have the odd bit of chorizo! Grin

absopugginglutely · 15/10/2019 21:09

@BIWI thanks for advice re: lemons.

I hope you’ve all had a good day- I’ve been a water hog today I may have even exceeded three litres which feels good.
I had a snack of 2 cocktail sausages, a cheese string, a peperami and 1 strawberry when I had to go food shopping after work and was really hungry.

I then just had a pile of watercress, a dollop of Tzatsiki and some lemon covered smoked salmon for dinner because I was full from the snack.

Tomorrow my mission is to get more butter in somehow to suppress my appetite a bit.

I’m tired of eggs already so not sure where to put it maybe just piles of veg.

I’m also a bit confused about the grams of carbs per 100ml/ 100 grams. So are we pretty safe eating anything 5g/ml or less of carbs? (Obviously if it’s mustard/ peanut butter, we wouldn’t be eating 100 of any of them) so I get that it depends on portions.
The numbers are confusing me!

dripdrops · 15/10/2019 21:15

Lovely kitchen BIWI, you must be thrilled.

Been a good day food-wise here, very busy at work so meals are slightly odd times but had:

11am: cucumber slices with some ham

3pm: lettuce, olives, radish, chicken tikka chunks and aioli

Dinner: roast skin on chicken breast with cauliflower and broccoli cheese- this was amazing and so filling!

At an all day training thing tomorrow so will take some packet olives and nuts and try to nip out to grab something during the lunch break if it's only sandwiches.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 15/10/2019 21:15

nonononon, yes, appetite really shuts up and does what it's told fairly quickly. BIWI or Stunt have the science, but I find I can easily go 24 hours between meals if needs must. I've been more or less low carbing for a while now, so can only just remember the old-style hunger that had me wobbly and weepy.

That just doesn't happen anymore. If I feel a bit hungry but can't eat for whatever reason, it just goes away and I carry on with my day like nothing happened. It's fabulous.

Nonononon · 15/10/2019 21:23

Ok thank you ladies, that's really encouraging Smile

AthelstaneTheUnready · 15/10/2019 21:24

absopugginglutely, I think the idea is that 3g or under, knock yourself out, eat until you're round. 4-5g and only have a little of whatever it is. More than that, and by the time you're added up all the 'little' bits you're actually putting away a lot of carbs over the course of a day.

F'rinstance... some hardcore people aim for under 20g carb a day. That's not even shedloads of veg levels! Some define low carb as anything under about 40g or 50g, others say up to 80g/100g carbs a day is fine (maybe 150g if you're VERY active).

Thing is, at this point it's all a bit academic for us - because the average eating day on a non-low carb diet is between 200-300g carbs a day, and that's BEFORE counting extra chocolate. So any drop that takes us to about or below the 100g is already going to make a big difference.

However. We're all different. When I first started I used to try and work out how much of what I was eating, and found I only started losing noticeable amounts of weight under about 40g a day. My friend lost more weight than me on around 100g .

Rshard · 15/10/2019 21:25

Popped on to log food for day 2, it seems everyone is doing pretty well

B - buttery scrambled eggs, avo
L - haddock in a butter sauce, green veg
D - chicken stuffed with Boursin and wrapped in Parma ham, massive salad, mayo

2 litres water, 2 black coffees and 1 tea with splash of milk.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 15/10/2019 21:31

Btw, before BIWI hits me with The Stick, I am absolutely not recommending anyone goes out and starts counting...

The whole point of the veg list is to make that entirely unnecessary - stick to the green foods, only have smaller amounts of the amber, forget about the red. Eat as much as you want until you find your appetite is smaller anyway. Job done.

BrassicaBabe · 15/10/2019 21:42

Great to see folks getting into the first few days.
B: Greek yoghurt
L: bacon and hall limo
D: fatty brisket, cabbage and celeriac chips
