Morning all! Very sorry for the late start. I set my alarm. Woke up. Wondered why I'd set my alarm and went straight back to sleep Blush

Anyhoo.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

For those of us who are new, the spreadsheet is not only where you record your weight (if you want to - it's not obligatory), it's also where you'll find lots of other useful information. Look at the tabs at the bottom for the rules, a veg counter (that will work out your carb count for you if you're using it for a recipe), and lots of other resources to help you learn more about low carbing.

I'll be back to post more stuff later this morning, but for now just wanted to get the link out there.

If you're using your phone to access the thread, you will need to download the Google docs app.

Oh - I forgot to post my disclaimer:

I am not a doctor. I have no medical training. I am not a nutritionist or a dietician. The principles behind Bootcamp are based on everything I have read about low carbing (as well as my own experiences)

If you are at all concerned, and/or you have any health issues to take into account, please consult your GP before undertaking this diet.

If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, it's better for you to keep your carbs slightly higher, so do Bootcamp Light rather than full-on Bootcamp.

And if you're taking long-term medication, especially for conditions like hypertension, diabetes and/or high cholesterol, then please consult your doctor/specialist nurse. Low carbing has a positive impact on those conditions (usually) so you may find that you need to lower your dosage - but please don't do that without medical advice.

Hello! Great idea about pics littleowl and thanks BIWI for another boot camp. Lovely to see some familiar names 🙂
Weighed this morning: 167.4

I want to be 135 as an end goal. Hope to get a good start this boot camp and then stick to it afterwards. I had a try last time but had a poorly daughter so was in hospital a lot - where the food options are horrifying 😬 so didn’t stick to plan consistently. Motivated this time! Currently also doing the Run 26 challenge for Diabetes UK, so moving a bit more too - hope that helps things! Looking forward to seeing how everyone gets on flowers

Flowers

One more thing from me:

The threads move really fast, especially in the early days before lots of people drop out but please read the whole thread!.

It gets very tedious having to answer the same questions just because people don't bother to read other people's posts, but also it's really helpful anyway to read what other people are doing/posting/asking.

And, of course, we're all here to support each other, not just to plop down our own meals or have our own questions answered!

I didn't weigh this morning (forgot) so will do it tomorrow morning, as well as measuring my thighs etc.

Wibblytummy · 14/10/2019 11:32

Morning! Thanks for spreadsheet and glad to officially have started. I did a bit of a warm up start from last Wednesday as a. I ended up eating far too much cake in my bid to clear the house and was feeling awful for it and b. I've found out I'm anaemic and so wanted to help get my energy levels balanced out as much as possible ASAP without the constant crashes of sugar and caffeine to see where I am without those. The boost of iron from all the spinach etc has started to help a little too, so am wearily getting there Smile
Weighing this morning and already looks like a 4lb drop in 5 days. Will officially count from today on and measure etc from today!

Themyscira · 14/10/2019 11:35

Morning. Late breakfast of bacon, eggs, tomatoes and green onions fried in coconut oil (tho should've been butter really).

My coffee just doesn't taste the same without full fat cow's milk. Not sure what to replace it with, I got oat milk and soya milk but I don't think they are allowed Blush

Wibblytummy · 14/10/2019 11:36

Oh and today is:
B: 1/3 bacon, mushroom, cheddar frittata, and 1/2 avocado
L: Chicken, baby spinach, cucumber coleslaw and some cheese.
D: Thai Green Curry (from the pinned chicken recipe thread) and broccoli/cauliflower rice

Ketomeato · 14/10/2019 11:41

Checking in!

Did a low carb shop this morning and bought bottled water to make sure I’m getting through the amount I need each day. Good luck everyone!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 14/10/2019 11:56

I'm in!

I gave up smoking 6 weeks ago (I'm going to keep saying that until someone pats me on the head) and it turns out that - for me - it's true that smoking messes with your metabolism.

I've put on 10lbs in 6 weeks. Although to be fair I've spend the majority of those six weeks either with a chest infection, or in bed with flu. So not moving very much. Hmm

However, am feeling almost bright and shiny again, so going to see if strict BC will help normalise the metabolism again.

dripdrops · 14/10/2019 12:07

Happy first day everyone! I have low carbed before but not done a bootcamp- I have about 10lbs I would be happy to see gone but tend to go more on clothes fit than weight.

Looking forward to getting to know you all, and hopefully picking up some recipe inspiration along the way!

Almahart · 14/10/2019 12:16

Great to be back on boot camp proper!

Breakfast was Greek yoghurt
Lunch will be a Greek salad and dinner cod with lemony creamy leeks

Ninkaninus · 14/10/2019 12:22

Hi everyone! 🌷

Thanks @BIWI for your hard work on this. 💐

I’ve decided to lurk rather than actively participating, and I won’t be recording weightloss either.

But I wanted to wish you all the greatest success and a fab ten weeks! 👍

ShagMeRiggins · 14/10/2019 12:42

I gave up smoking 6 weeks ago (I'm going to keep saying that until someone pats me on the head)

That deserves more than a pat, Athelstane.

canihaveabunplease · 14/10/2019 12:45

God I'm shit!!! Hello everyone. Totally unprepared however I am trying!!

Breakfast - scrambled egg and mushrooms

Lunch - bacon and cheddar quiche (no crust/base.....basically scrambled egg again🤦🏼‍♀️) with salad and coleslaw (homemade)

Dinner - chicken stir fry

Tomorrow I will be less shit and have shopped. Hit me with your quick breaky and lunch ideas as I work full time and am quite llazy😂😂

ShagMeRiggins · 14/10/2019 12:45

Themyscira have you considered double cream in your coffee? Fewer carbs and a lovely rich taste as with Blue Milk.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 14/10/2019 12:52

That's really scary Shock. I'm going to say a gushing thank you to you anyway, in case you hit me.

8Track · 14/10/2019 12:53

@Hagbeth Don't panic too much about your veg - even though they're amber, cabbage and sprouts are only just over 3g carbs per 100g so shouldn't cause you too much of an issue.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 14/10/2019 12:54

canihaveabun that's cracking for unprepared though! Loads of green veg in that dinner I hope?

my unprepared today = nothing to eat. It's all at home in the fridge. Otherwise my very best lunch tip is leftovers from the night before. Saves time, money, and thought.

SittingontheSidelines · 14/10/2019 12:55

Good morning all and thank you so much @BIWI for taking us all under your wing again

I've put on four pounds in the last couple of weeks, combination of cold and tiredness I think, but am still starting 28 pounds lighter than my May boot camp start weight. Determined today to get back on track. Good luck everyone.

@Hagbeth you just sent me into panic mode saying Brussels sprouts were red. However I've just checked and they're amber. I love my sprouts.
@AthelstaneTheUnready There's a big pat on the head coming you're way from me. I gave up many years ago and my weight did increase significantly but I don't know if that was my metabolism or replacing one addiction with another. But either way I'm sure the delicious food and support here will get and keep you on track. Star

Rshard · 14/10/2019 12:58

Well done on quitting the fags athlestane, such a hard thing to do it.

eliope · 14/10/2019 12:59

Athelstane well done on kicking the habit, I had a few chest infections after I gave up smoking and yes to messing with metabolism. I waned endless pat on the head when I finally managed it too, so massive well done.
canihaveabun I stick with uncomplicated in the morning, eggs with whatever veg I have or yogurt.

I've not slept yet as I keep getting up to wee, not very organised here either.

Rayna37 · 14/10/2019 12:59

A couple of you wondering about whole milk in tea or coffee - it's FINE! Obviously don't drink glasses of milk, cappucino or lattes but having milk in a couple of brews a day won't be a problem, whole milk is only 4.7g of carbs per 100ml (from a quick google) which isn't that bad. I don't think lactose is as bad as fructose either, though obviously too much will still impede weight loss! If you drink more than a couple of caffeinated drinks a day, it's better all round if you can try to replace these with chamomile, herbal teas or water anyway!

I really miss a post-run glass of whole milk though seeing as I'm barely running right now, shouldn't complain

AthelstaneTheUnready · 14/10/2019 13:00

Thank you Sidelines Grin I can't see anything but good coming from doing BC, regardless of what the metabolism is doing. And many many kudos to you for staying a non-smoker - this is not my first attempt!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 14/10/2019 13:02

Ahhh, thank you Rshard and eliope! Really 'pleased' to hear this is normal.
