@VeryLittleOwl - no it's a hand-built kitchen. (Not what I wanted actually, but much easier given the dimensions we had to play with, and meant that the builders worked hand-in-hand with the kitchen guy)
It's Farrow & Ball Hague Blue
@absopugginglutely lemon in water is fine. Don't worry about fibre counts - it's only American measurements where they include that (which does make it confusing - if you're looking for carb counts, make sure you have a UK website)
@IJustWantToWearDungarees
I was wondering how bad bacon, ham, chorizo and salami are. I know they're processed, but are they ok within reason? Eg. I had two eggs scrambled with some spinach leaves and about 8 bacon lardons this morning. Is that awful?
No that wasn't awful! You can happily eat those meats, just not at every meal/every day. They're fantastic ingredients for adding flavour.
@canihaveabunplease
where do we stand on diet drinks? Or squash?
As it says in the rules (which you have read, haven't you?
) we're aiming to avoid artificial sweeteners as much as possible. There are several reasons for this:
- first, we're trying to break the hold that sweet things have over us
- second, there's some suggestion that the body response to the sweetness as if you were ingesting sugar (i.e. with an insulin response), which is obviously not good
- third, they're highly artificial which we're also trying to avoid
Squash isn't great because it's either got (a lot) of sugar in it, or it uses artificial sweeteners.
If you want to drink something more interesting than plain water, try adding slices of lemon or lime or cucumber to it - lots of flavour but not the extra sugar, and all natural
