Morning all! Very sorry for the late start. I set my alarm. Woke up. Wondered why I'd set my alarm and went straight back to sleep Blush

Anyhoo.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

For those of us who are new, the spreadsheet is not only where you record your weight (if you want to - it's not obligatory), it's also where you'll find lots of other useful information. Look at the tabs at the bottom for the rules, a veg counter (that will work out your carb count for you if you're using it for a recipe), and lots of other resources to help you learn more about low carbing.

I'll be back to post more stuff later this morning, but for now just wanted to get the link out there.

If you're using your phone to access the thread, you will need to download the Google docs app.

Okay - so maybe not the best soup choice then, bugger Sad Will try to use one or the other in future then. I've only been doubling up to try and get my fats in, not for taste reasons, so won't be a hardship to reduce.

Rayna37 · 20/10/2019 17:36

Big stick time!

I had a plan but it went wrong! Would have preferred to avoid eating out altogether this week especially as I'm away this next week but had agreed to a late breakfast after soft play with DH, DS and meeting up with DSD who was home from uni. Was all set to reject toast, hash browns and beans. However when we arrived there were no tables and we were told it would be lunch only by the time we got a table. We went elsewhere and ended up with Sunday lunch. So far while there was lovely beef, gravy and a bit of broccoli there was also mainly carby veg (carrots and parsnips, bit of squash, ignored the beetroot), I gave away nearly all of my roast potatoes, but not all and also ate the Yorkshire pud. It was all good stuff but the sort of thing I'd expect to eat on maintenance, not to have and expect to lose weight!
Water going OK, roast chicken and some green stuff tonight. I've also been swimming.

Cauliflowerpower · 20/10/2019 17:47

Ooooh thanks @mrsterrypratchet. I might try making that. I've had it when on holiday in Greece since and it was gorgeous.... will have to be next week so I can get a nice chicken stock in.

B - only one egg left in the house so I made it into a cream cheese pancake and ate it with bacon.

L Salad with prawns and Marie rose sauce

D peri peri chicken with salad probably....

Cauliflowerpower · 20/10/2019 17:48

Once not since....

Nonononon · 20/10/2019 17:52

Well I didn't have soup for dinner. I only had chicken Oxo cubes and they're ridiculous for carbs (never knew this!) and I didn't have any fresh chicken to make stock so I made a Chinese..
It was bloody lovely, although maybe a bit.. much ?🤔
It was;
Half a small cauliflower (made into 'rice')
3rd of a medium onion
5 closed cup mushrooms
2 small chicken thighs.
All fried in some butter with soy sauce, garlic and some salt and pepper seasoning.
I then made some "crispy seaweed" by deep frying some Savoy cabbage 😬😬 it wasn't a lot, and I drained the oil but it probably had more calories than the whole cauli dish 🤣.. the way I see it, I didn't put any olive oil on my salad this afternoon so that sort of counteracted it, right? Riiiiight?

VeryLittleOwl · 20/10/2019 18:03

absopugginglutely - me! If I have an unplanned fall off the wagon then I can guarantee it's in the five days before my period and I get seriously snappy about everything. Once it starts I'm fine again.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 20/10/2019 18:09

Deep fried cabbage? That's a new one on me. Grin

Doesn't sound like a massive amount, and all low carb, so I don't think I'd worry at all about the cabbage.

B: coffee with cream
L: I bloody well forgot this again
D: broccoli & mushrooms in blocks of butter, with melted parmesan on top, and a somewhat odd egg.

I've been low-carbing on and off for ages now, so am not fussed if I occasionally miss a meal, HOWEVER, I've fallen into the reduced appetite trap before. If I regularly miss meals I'm not actually eating enough, and counter-intuitively stop losing weight - the wonderful Stuntnun was the one who pointed this out. Sure enough, on her advice I started eating more calories in the day and I started losing again.

Might have to go and hunt something else up out of the fridge.

eliope · 20/10/2019 18:21

Brill thanks for that biwi that's perfect and I'll maybe have a wee bit of crunch from a poppodom. Looking forward to going
out now sod rice who needs it!

Nonononon · 20/10/2019 18:22

Yeah Grin
You know the crispy seaweed that you get at the Chinese? Well thats all it is. Deep fried cabbage Grin they put different seasonings on it but I just added some quality salt. Twas very nice along side the other dish.

MrsTerryPratchett · 20/10/2019 18:26

The way I see it is you should have licked the oil from the cabbage and had olive oil on your salad with mayonnaise as well. Grin We are adding fat, aren't we?

I find I just eat less of everything if it's high fat so I ignore the calories.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 20/10/2019 18:32

We are indeed adding fat.

I usually have two blocks of unpasteurised St Isigny on the go - one in the butter dish for bunging lumps into the veg, and one in the fridge for biting chunks out of... just because.

Nonononon, I, er, don't get Chinese takeaway. Or any takeaway. But I'd be annoyed about the sleight of hand with cabbage if I did, because I love seaweed. And the iodine loves me.

PrimaDonna123 · 20/10/2019 19:10

Had a good old ‘doing’ day so feeling a bit better than I was this morning. Walked the dog while listening to a funny podcast, done a fucktonne of washing, tidied and cleaned and am ready to face the week - kind of!

B: didn’t have any (sorry)
L: huge fry up - three rashers of bacon, one LC sausage, mushrooms in butter, two eggs scrambled in butter with a splash of cream
D: pulled pork, hm coleslaw with hm mayo

8Track · 20/10/2019 19:16

Takeaway night here tonight! We've been out all day cutting up crashed cars (somewhat outing, but from the vast quantity of cake that was consumed I'm fairly sure no-one else there was lo carbing!) and am starving now!

Seekh kebab starter, tandoori tikka chicken with mushroom and aubergine bhaji en route.

Food today:
Total yog for breakfast
Tofu curry (made with butter and cream, bit of spice mix) with lettuce and celery sticks. Chunks of brie.
Dinner as above.

Had an emotional disaster yesterday, and ate, errr nothing until dinner.
2 chicken steaks topped with cheese, mayo and jalapeños with spicy celeriac chips cooked in goose fat. Yums.

absopugginglutely · 20/10/2019 19:23

Guys I'm panicking- I keep seeing people talk about eating swede mash and Brussel sprouts and Ive just had them for tea then found out they're actually quite high carb veggies.
The night before I weigh myself too.
I'm on week three so is this okay?

MrsGarethSouthgate · 20/10/2019 19:35

Dinner was a quorn beef steak, topped with half an avocado, a small piece of cheese, a plum tomato and a fried egg, wrapped in a lettuce leaf. Up to 4.2 litres of water now 💦

AthelstaneTheUnready · 20/10/2019 19:48

abso, neither of of those are high carb are they? Sprouts about 3g, and swede maybe 3.5 or 4g?

StuntNun · 20/10/2019 19:53

Deep fried cabbage sounds bloody brilliant, I must try that!

BIWI · 20/10/2019 20:31

STOP WORRYING ABOUT CALORIES!

Honestly - you need to be eating the fat. This is a high fat, low carb diet.

That said, your food sounds absolutely lovely!

SittingontheSidelines · 20/10/2019 20:55

@MrsGarethSouthgate Good news. Leeks are green.

Breakfast scrambled eggs.

Dinner roast chicken, roast leeks, fried mushrooms, courgettes cooked in butter, sprouts, cauliflower/broccoli.

Supper, a little bit of left over dinner.

whensmynexthol1day · 20/10/2019 20:59

Does anyone get to the point when they just cant face anything rich/fatty any more? I think that's where I end up failing on this woe because I just want something light/fresh. Even a fish and veg type meal ends up rich by the time you've added enough fat.
It's frustrating because generally I feel so good eating like this but I always hit a wall where I can't face more butter/meat/cream/eggs

whensmynexthol1day · 20/10/2019 21:00

Just realised that was a big moan! I suppose I am after suggestions of meals which feel a bit fresher!

BIWI · 20/10/2019 21:04

@whensmynexthol1day but you don't have to eat meals that are butter/meat/cream/eggs!

Go and look at the recipe threads for inspiration.

You can eat a lot of lovely salads, just as a start.

OP posts:
8Track · 20/10/2019 21:19

WhensMy I sometimes feel like that, so go for a mix of meals in the day. Maybe a creamy sauce and buttery veg with dinner and buttery eggs for breakfast, but then a salad at lunch with vinegar-y dressing which breaks things up, but overall I think (and please correct me!) gives a solid level of fats.

absopugginglutely · 20/10/2019 21:22

@AthelstaneTheUnready I hope so. google seemed to think 9g for 100g of sprouts and 7g for swede 🤷‍♀️

venusandmars · 20/10/2019 22:15

mrsgarethsouthgate I've been biting my tongue all day not to say that leeks are coloured white at the bottom and green at the top. But I know that's not helpful.. However on the BIWI chart you're OK.
