Morning all! Very sorry for the late start. I set my alarm. Woke up. Wondered why I'd set my alarm and went straight back to sleep Blush

Anyhoo.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

For those of us who are new, the spreadsheet is not only where you record your weight (if you want to - it's not obligatory), it's also where you'll find lots of other useful information. Look at the tabs at the bottom for the rules, a veg counter (that will work out your carb count for you if you're using it for a recipe), and lots of other resources to help you learn more about low carbing.

I'll be back to post more stuff later this morning, but for now just wanted to get the link out there.

If you're using your phone to access the thread, you will need to download the Google docs app.

I've just had my daily two Brazil nuts (I know nuts aren't allowed during Boot Camp Blush but I have them for the selenium/thyroid function and as I don't actually like them, there's no risk of me having more Grin), but am not actually at all hungry Smile

VeryLittleOwl · 19/10/2019 10:56

Morning, everyone.

B: yoghurt
L: 3-egg omelette with veg in it, or possibly scrambled eggs if I get bored waiting for it to cook!
S: Sausages and celeriac chips with broccoli and cheese bake (bugger mashing celeriac for now, I tried making oven chips with half a small one last night and they were bloody amazing - slice into chip-shape, blanche in boiling water for 1-2 minutes, drain, shake in pan with olive oil and a bit of sea salt, bung in oven at 210C fan for 30-35 minutes).

Trying not to mind too much that DH is eating his way around Borough Market this morning while I am shovelling horse poo on the north coast of Scotland.

Cauliflowerpower · 19/10/2019 11:10

Morning - more off on the scales .. it's so motivating !

Supposed to be off out on an extremely rare date night tonight buy we had words last night so I'm not sure if hes canx tbe babysitter (as I told him to) or not... also I swept half my dinner in to the bin and stomped off to bed so a plus for consuming less....

B - omelette with bacon and blue cheese
L - fridge rummage
D - in = steak from last night with appropriate veg
Out = probably steak with appropriate veg or salad 🤣😂🤣😂

AthelstaneTheUnready · 19/10/2019 11:27

2lbs off! 2lbs off!

That's the first downward movement since I started gaining at the end of August when I gave up smoking!

Thank god for that, it's been long enough coming Grin

I like the sound of the celeriac chips, VeryLittleOwl, but I find celeriac give me the most vigorous wind. I don't suppose roasting it as chips avoids this, does it?

MrsGarethSouthgate · 19/10/2019 11:34

Thanks @prettybird @Rayna37 and @StuntNun

I will list my foods for the next three days, but will also try to moderate the cheese. I'm not sure what an okay amount is to include in meals so any guidance on that would be gratefully received.

Just had 2 eggs, scrambled with butter, dollop of double cream, 30g of grated cheese and even more butter. Served it on 2 buttered quorn gammon steaks, which are 1.7g carbs per 100g, or 1g each.

1 litre of water down so far but only been up an hour so not too bad.

Going shopping shortly to buy spinach as have run out.

StuntNun · 19/10/2019 11:48

MrsGareth IMHO its the frequency of dairy consumption that's more likely to cause problems so don't worry about the quantity of cheese unless you're getting through a huge quantity like a pack in a day. Also keep an eye on your fat intake as more can be better than less. I've had several people who were stalled in their weight loss that got the scales moving again by adding a couple of extra tablespoons of fat per day.

TamingToddler · 19/10/2019 11:51

Definitely not enough water drank yesterday but will get on it today.
I remember last bootcamp the thought of eggs/cream/butter made me feel sick about half way through, and I massively upped my veg intake instead. Doing that from the start this time has made me feel 100 times better. Not sure if I had carb flu or the back end of the cold I've been suffering but have woken up feeling better today.

So far today I've head a chorizo and olive omelette, and 2 pints of water. No idea about lunch and dinner yet!

Rayna37 · 19/10/2019 12:22

I've had a breakthrough with water! I think the bigger glasses I tend to use at home when I finally remember I need to drink were over-facing me somehow. I'm now using a smaller glass like I would at work and it's going down much more easily.

Rayna37 · 19/10/2019 12:35

Today: I was hungry when I woke up but a coffee with cream saw me through parkrun and a trip to Aldi. A couple of bits of pre-sliced Gouda when I got in (shared with a toddler demanding "CHEEEESE") then just had an amazing cheese crusted omelette filled with creamy truffle oil mushrooms. The recipe/method has been a BIG hit in this house so that is to whoever first shared it earlier this week!
Dinner will be salt and pepper pork belly slices with sautéed kale and green beans roasted in the oven while the pork's in there.

prettybird · 19/10/2019 12:37

I'm the opposite: I find it easier to get the water down if I use a pint glass. I can also count them more easily - especially if I make every second one an electrolyte one (squoosh of lemon juice and a shake of Lo-Salt) Wink

Courgezza...

The courgettizzas look amazing venus and I’m defiantly going to try those celeriac chips verylittleowl.

Well done on those pesky 2lbs athlestane

Seems as though the first weekend of bootcamp is going well!

dripdrops · 19/10/2019 14:58

Developed a migraine mid morning yesterday so have been out of action until now! Felt a bit weird about what to eat so have tried to keep it plain with 2 hard boiled eggs and some cucumber. Meant to be going out for dinner tonight so will see.

Just watching Saturday Kitchen now and there is a lovely looking courgette fritter made with grated courgette, mint, spinach, almond meal, eggs and Parmesan with tzatziki and smoked salmon. It looks delicious and bootcamp friendly after the first couple of weeks.

PrimaDonna123 · 19/10/2019 15:35

If anyone is looking for a new fruit tea to try, I’m currently drinking Twinings St Clements. It’s lovely, orangey but sharp rather than sweet. I got mine from Sainsbury’s. Can recommend.

ShagMeRiggins · 19/10/2019 15:47

Courgezza

Those photos are adorable.

I never was into the replacement words when starting Bootcamp (courgetti, meatzza, etc), but that’s because I’m a proud pedant. It’s helped to remind myself they’re not substitutes, merely different dishes.

If I’d bothered to taste “courgette lasagne” early on I’d have realised I like the taste much more than traditional pasta lasagne.

Sometimes I am my own worst enemy! Hmm

dripdrops the ingredients look lovely but there’s a whole lot of them! Are they all for the fritter?!

Utterly shit day, allow me to nag...

WATER! PLANNING! FAT!

Nonononon · 19/10/2019 15:57

So food for the day
B: two sausages with cloud bread.
L: errm.. well I still wasn't very hungry and have been busy so just had a peperami stick with a creamy coffee. 🤣
D: will be lots of moussaka (from the recipe that BIWI gave on page 4) I'll have that with a leafy salad. It's in the oven now and I'm really looking forward to it!

BIWI · 19/10/2019 16:41

@MrsGarethSouthgate

What have you eaten in the last 3 days though? That will give us more of an idea or insight into why the scales aren't helping you out!

(And also, what have you drunk each day?)

SittingontheSidelines · 19/10/2019 16:54

@venusandmars they look even better than they sound YUM.

B yogurt.

I had the last of the stew (that keeps on giving) for lunch.

Dinner will be leftover salmon and a FLGV then the leftover cupboard will be bare and I'll have to think of something else. The courgizzas are winning hands down at the moment.

MrsGarethSouthgate · 19/10/2019 17:12

Hmmmm. My memory is not great. Will try and recollect.

I know Thursday I had 170g pot of Greek yoghurt, with almond oil and cinnamon. Then leftover beansprout, bamboo shoot, Philadelphia and mushroom stir fry for lunch with two quorn frankfurters. Two babybels. And then fried halloumi with salad in a lo-dough wrap. Green tea, no milk and around 2.5 to 3 litres of water.

MrsGarethSouthgate · 19/10/2019 17:15

This was Tuesday's food, which I posted earlier in the thread:

Brunch - cheese omelette with pack of gouda slices (too much cheese - should have been avocado instead but it was rock solid and not ripe yet).

Dinner - bean sprouts, mushrooms and bamboo shoots fried in a shit-ton of butter, with quorn steak strips and then Boursin cheese stirred through.

On 4th bottle of water now, which will take me to just under 3 litres. Going to try for a 5th before bed (700ml a time) 💦

MrsGarethSouthgate · 19/10/2019 17:19

Wednesday it was cheese omelettes again (but as at work these are two mini frozen ones from supermarket), with an avocado. 2 babybels mid afternoon. Then dinner was two quorn frankfurters cooked in butter in a piece of lo dough with sliced buttered tomatoes in lieu of ketchup and more of the same stir fry (which I neglected to mention was also cooked in butter). Always around 4 mugs green tea and 4 x 700ml bottles of water each day.

MrsGarethSouthgate · 19/10/2019 17:22

As I've been low carbing for 6 weeks I struggle to eat 3 meals as am rarely hungry, so have had a couple of babybels in lieu of lunch with a late breakfast.

What am I doing wrong @BIWI??

Twit · 19/10/2019 17:30

Hi all, just whizzing through to update what I'm eating.
B: egg & butter
D: cheese and marmite
T: 1 burger with a fried egg and cheese on top, with green salad leaves.
Honestly, the burger is really too high at 10g per 100g, but I haven't eaten much today, and so I chose to risk it this once. I'll find something else for next week, like a steak I think.
However, 3 litres will be drunk by the end of the day, which I'm pleased with. 😁

Tomorrow I'll be eating.
B: egg
D: roast chicken, broccoli and cauliflower
T: I'll see how hungry I am, but I'll have leftovers of my dinner if I am.

Have a great weekend everyone!

MrsGarethSouthgate · 19/10/2019 17:38

The yoghurt with cinnamon also had double cream in it. I told you my memory was poor!

VeryLittleOwl · 19/10/2019 18:06

Oh blimey. Cleaning the holiday cottage this afternoon and the outgoing guests had missed an entire shelf of one of the kitchen cupboards. Total tally: 2 packets of Border dark chocolate ginger biscuits, 1 box of After Eights, 1 and a bit packets of Biscoff, two boxes of German chocolate biscuits and a box of Nairn oatcakes. None of which I can eat. Fortunately the next guests don't arrive until Monday, so I've left them all down there out of temptation's way and DH can take them all into his work on Monday morning!
