Morning all! Very sorry for the late start. I set my alarm. Woke up. Wondered why I'd set my alarm and went straight back to sleep Blush

Anyhoo.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

For those of us who are new, the spreadsheet is not only where you record your weight (if you want to - it's not obligatory), it's also where you'll find lots of other useful information. Look at the tabs at the bottom for the rules, a veg counter (that will work out your carb count for you if you're using it for a recipe), and lots of other resources to help you learn more about low carbing.

I'll be back to post more stuff later this morning, but for now just wanted to get the link out there.

If you're using your phone to access the thread, you will need to download the Google docs app.

It is good to see everyone at work on here -and a gentle swish of the big stick too.

The enthusiasm is always a great boost :)
This WOE works - even for serial(cereal) failures like me.

Note on donating blood:it is good to find yourself surrounded by fellow water-drinkers, but take your own snacks for afterwards! They only had biscuits left when I got to the tea table... and I really didn't fancy one. (Wow!) There was nothing worth breaking bootcamp rules for.
Had to hurry home for some crispy pork scratchings and a dinner of chicken (with skin) and roasted veg.

Rayna37 · 18/10/2019 12:14

Friday weigh-ins became a bit of a thing on the last bootcamp, because lets face we all weigh less before the weekend, no?! I'm pleased to report 2lbs down so far which is great particularly considering I've not too far to go and I've not done any exercise, which does seem to make a difference for me. I have 100% followed the rules though which isn't always my strong point.
No issues being strong this weekend but I'm away for work Tues-Weds with a few meals that might be hard to control.
Pilates tonight and parkrun in the morning: haven't run a step all month yet Blush

HillRunner · 18/10/2019 12:46

The no kitchen situation isn't permanent, but is likely to last another few weeks at least.... I will try microwaving veg with butter though!

prettybird · 18/10/2019 12:52

Brussels microwaved in butter (two minutes in a bowl with a plate on top, shoogle technical term Winkand then two minutes more, sprinkle with salt and pepper) are lush Smile I've introduced quite a few people to my addiction the dish Grin

I'm delighted that brussel sprouts are back in season Grin

rosesandsunflowers · 18/10/2019 13:03

@BIWI I hadn't made the pumpkin soup so the kids can use them to carve for Halloween instead! I had coleslaw, spinach, 2 slices of turkey and some slices of cheese and a dollop of mayonnaise instead.

rosesandsunflowers · 18/10/2019 13:17

@prettybird that sounds delicious I'm definitely going to put on the menu for next week.

Nonononon · 18/10/2019 13:37

Afternoon all!
Feeling great today.
So far..
B:x3 eggs scrambled I'm butter, 2 slices of ham.
L: Was massive! It was what I had planned for dinner but I couldnt wait for it so had it just now. Sprouts and cauliflower with hm cheese sauce and 3 sausages! 😶😄(Tescos finest sausages and they were reeeeally low in carbs) it was lush.
D: will now be tuna mayo and kaleslaw

Nonononon · 18/10/2019 13:38

*in butter!

Although ,if I keep this up I may well turn into a butter stick so stay tuned..

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 18/10/2019 14:06

Thanks for the halloumi info, I will go in search of the squeaky cheese as it sounds lush.

Mixed success batch cooking yesterday. Stilton and broccoli soup was smashing, threw extra spinach and cauliflower leaves in there too.

Cauli mash was OK, a bit sweet strangely.

First ever attempt at fish pie was a disaster. Sauce didn't work and way too bland. Will be smushing it up and making a fish pie omelette thing today!

Didn't get enough water or fat in yesterday, so will remedy today. Must buy more butter too. I swear I bought a block on Wednesday...

OopsBird · 18/10/2019 14:17

Haven't caught up with today's messages but just wanted to say thanks to @BIWI @Rayna37 @AthelstaneTheUnready for info on Dioralyte. I won't take it again.
@PrimaDonna123 the cheese encrusted omelette sounded divine but when I made it, it all stuck to the pan Blush. Will try again with the non stick frying pan!
I've got the Idiot Proof Diet book. It really seems designed to be read day by day as you do this diet . But have been too busy . Thought I'd mention as others might want to do the same .
Had loads of energy yesterday and today feel very tired and washed out!

BIWI · 18/10/2019 14:35

The recipe book that goes with the IPD is really worth getting hold of @OopsBird. Some great recipes in there

Ketomeato · 18/10/2019 15:14

Hi, checking in here!

B - piece of spice-rubbed chicken
L - griddled halloumi with grilled aubergine and a blob of cream and sea salt
D - I’ve done the halloumi bake (I think) and it’s on a low light in the oven. It consists of mushrooms a yellow pepper, aubergine, a big splob of chopped tomatoes and topped with halloumi slices.

And lots of water.

MrsTerryPratchett · 18/10/2019 15:26

I'm imagining BIWI just holding the stick in one hand and tapping it into her opposite palm while staring at us right now. Menacingly.

B: Egg in a cup, broccoli sprouts
L: Smoked salmon, dill mayonnaise (new addiction), rest of broccoli sprouts
D: Pork with spinach and some amount of fat (buttered spinach, soy sauce mixed with mayonnaise... the world is my fatty treat).

I may be speaking too soon but I might have avoided carb flu this time. The keto insomnia has kicked in though. It's the people who sleep better on this WOE stealing my sleep. Hmm

OopsBird · 18/10/2019 15:43

Thanks @BIWI , will check it out.

VeryLittleOwl · 18/10/2019 16:00

I HAVE CELERIAC!!! Well done Thurso Tesco who appear to have started stocking it again, although they'd carefully hidden it between the organic produce section and the kale. They had two left, I've bought them both. I also spent an instructive 15 minutes rootling through the sausage shelf and came away with Heck 97% Gluten Free at 1.2g carbs per 100g, so it's bangers and celeriac mash for me tomorrow Grin

Tentontessie · 18/10/2019 16:22

Bleurgh having a non ideal two days yesterday and today. Had a black tie work function last night and spent most of the day running around and forgot to eat. Managed to scoff some chicken with Boursin on before it got ready. Lovely 3 course meal at the function, some sort of avocado and prawn concoction which was lovely, lamb cutlets as main and managed to avoid the fondant potatoes! Did have a truffle though and too much wine. Which leads me today where I have eaten a handful of prawns. Will try salmon and cauli cheese for dinner tonight. Must have more water though as find it v hard when I’m not at work!

prettybird · 18/10/2019 16:41

No celeriacs yet in Lidl. Not making a trip to to Sainsbury's until next week, so I might walk along to our local greengrocer Smile

Did manage to get a neep and some leeks (they haven't had any leeks for a while). Also got a rolled shoulder of pork for a roast reduced to £2.92 Smile (Also bought some boned chicken thighs and free range chicken breasts reduced, which have gone straight into the freezer for my stockpile).

I'm really enjoying too much having clotted cream by the spoonful from my wee carton Blush

Supper tonight will either be the halloumi and broccoli bake or buttery brussel sprouts Grin Dh is having a Lidl microwave curry so I'd have loads of the halloumi & broccoli bake left over, which I suppose I could have for lunch tomorrow. Halo

Rshard · 18/10/2019 16:52

Is anyone struggling to get brussels? They’ve been out of stock on my online shop and local Sainsbury’s

prettybird · 18/10/2019 16:56

Plenty at Lidl today Smile but no celeriac Sad

Cauliflowerpower · 18/10/2019 16:59

@Rshard - could you get frozen.... Love a frozen bit of veg. Most often just as good!

Rshard · 18/10/2019 17:44

Excellent suggestions, thanks!

Nonononon · 18/10/2019 18:36

So day done. 3ltrs of water drank and I'm reflecting.. although I have stuck 100% to the rules I feel like i've been eating too much cheese.. so if I don't lose much weight after this week's up I'll know what the culprit is!
I haven't been going crazy.. but haven't been angelic with it either. I Just read something about the proteins in dairy and how they can spike insulin just like crabs do so that's why we have "careful with the dairy" in the 'rules' and I've been eating quite a bit of dairy.. oops. Oh well I can revise if I don't get the results I want.
All in all I'm enjoying this and really do feel great!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 18/10/2019 18:59

Definitely a flatter stomach here. Measurements don't seem to have changed, nor has weight, but the bulge outwards has vanished!

Make a bit of a pig's ear of today as well. I never normally eat breakfast, as it makes me feel unwell too early. As I was off up a mountain, I took loooooads of ham & goats cheese lettuce wraps with me for brunch. Only I don't get hungry when I'm walking.

So I'm eating them now Grin Blush. I must say, it is SO lovely to be able to get in, having not eaten all day, and unpack things and light the fire before sitting down for food. Not desperate to eat anything as soon as the door shuts.

Had a right struggle not opening wine though. Always used to have a drink after a big walk. But I am NOT throwing away over 3 weeks' worth of Sainthood just because 'that's what I always do'. Have lovely lovely ginger and lemon tea instead. Halo

PrimaDonna123 · 18/10/2019 19:01

@OopsBird you do need a good non stick pan for the omelette. When it works though, it’s a thing of beauty so deffo give it another go.

Speaking of stuff out of stock, I haven’t been able to get eschallion (sp?) shallots for ages. Just spent about four hours peeling those bloody little fiddly ones for tea.

I’ve also got a horrible headache so feeling a bit sorry for myself. Don’t think it’s carb flu as I’m two weeks in but wish it would do one, it’s the weekend and I don’t want to feel crap!

Doilooklikeatourist · 18/10/2019 19:15

holycowvegan.net/roasted-cauliflower-chickpeas/
Made this today ( obviously without the chick peas )
Very good indeed , nice hot and would be lovely with mayo and salad ( coronation cauliflower ? )
Bit headachy , but on the water with a slice of lemon and will put up with it
