Morning all! Very sorry for the late start. I set my alarm. Woke up. Wondered why I'd set my alarm and went straight back to sleep Blush

Anyhoo.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

For those of us who are new, the spreadsheet is not only where you record your weight (if you want to - it's not obligatory), it's also where you'll find lots of other useful information. Look at the tabs at the bottom for the rules, a veg counter (that will work out your carb count for you if you're using it for a recipe), and lots of other resources to help you learn more about low carbing.

I'll be back to post more stuff later this morning, but for now just wanted to get the link out there.

If you're using your phone to access the thread, you will need to download the Google docs app.

Food all tastes and smells better when you don't have sugar messing with your tastebuds.

When I was still lurching around with the lurgy at the beginning of the month, I made the Christmas cake. Now I'm feeling better, and am truly low-carb again, I can smell Christmas cake every time I turn the oven on. I must have spiced the fuck out of that fucker.

Hi all! Yesterday turned out to be another all you can eat type of day...on top of the salmon/soup & soft cheese I had at brunch, I had pork belly, mushrooms & courgette for dinner, and bolognese sauce (mince, shallots, tiny amount of tinned tomatoes and garlic and herbs) on spinach with cheese on top for tea.
There were, however, no snacks and 2.5l of water. Maybe today will be an eating less day again? 🤷‍♀️
Breakfast: egg
Dinner: pork belly (it's cheap and easy, ok? 😬) and spinach (same)
Tea: coconut & lime chicken curry stuff I found at aldi* and the left over bit of courgette, spinach and mushrooms. And soft cheese probably to use that up as well.

*its really low carb, at 0.8g per 100g. I've checked it twice just now as well as when I picked it up. Shock
It'd be a good thing to take as a packed lunch I think as you can have it hot or cold.

I haven't weighed myself again yet, but I feel a bit smaller around the middle, and my stomach is happier than before, and although I now feel proper rough, I'm happy with the way things are progressing. 💃

Hope you all have a good Friday, and keep on drinking that water...

ShagMeRiggins · 18/10/2019 07:31

Good morning all!

Start your day with a lovely pint of WATER!!!

If I eat on plan and do NOT get my water allocation, my scale does not budge.

If I eat on plan and DO get my water allocation, my scale budges. In the right direction.

I know it can be tricky in gloomy October weather, but make this a priority for yourselves, then see and feel the difference.

HillRunner · 18/10/2019 07:33

I'm doing this entirely in microwaveable food, as I don't have a kitchen. Not easy, but I am managing to eat a reasonable mix of things. Finding it hard to get enough fat in though.... my main sources are olives and cheese.

PrimaDonna123 · 18/10/2019 08:03

Morning everyone, scales going in the right direction here. Just need to keep the focus, and off the wine, over the weekend.

Today’s plan:
B: eggs, cream, butter
L: broccoli and Stilton soup
D: chicken fajitas, sans wrap, with avocado, s cream, cheese and a big salad

Going for a run at lunchtime as I am well down on my miles for the month.

VeryLittleOwl · 18/10/2019 08:18

First pint of the day downed. There was a distinct lack of vegetables in my life yesterday, need to rectify that today.

B: Yoghurt
L: out, so probably a chicken salad
S: savoury mince and veggies

Going to hit up all three supermarkets in town today in search of celeriac, but I'm not optimistic :(

ShagMeRiggins · 18/10/2019 08:25

HillRuner a simple way to add fat would be microwaved green veg (broccoli, Brussels sprouts, kale maybe) either in butter or add loads of butter afterward.

Is the ‘no kitchen’ a permanent state of affairs?!

BIWI · 18/10/2019 09:00

@HillRunner having just gone through the same I can sympathise! If you have the room, I can highly recommend this portable induction hob from IKEA

It is only one cooking zone, but in combination with the microwave it did make turning out a meal much easier!

OP posts:
venusandmars · 18/10/2019 09:16

B - Avocado, butter coffee
L - egg mayonnaise, salad
D - watercress soup, then spag bol (with courgetti for me)

KondoKonvert · 18/10/2019 09:23

Slightly odd but tasty breakfast of leftovers all fried up together: garlicky courgettes, tenderstem broccoli, wee bit of roast chicken and a couple of fried eggs on top.

Scales are looking good so far but just need to keep the heid over the weekend at my Mum's party!

rosesandsunflowers · 18/10/2019 10:07

I have a question: why are my scales not going down at all? I've gone up .3 of a kilo instead!! I'm drinking tons of water - about 3litres a day. I have been having cream in coffee /eggs etc. Should I perhaps stop that? I have a splash of milk in a cup of tea in the morning and maybe one on the afternoon. Other than that I've been sticking to the rules. Perhaps the couple of things on my birthday has caused no weight loss at all.
I have to say my stomach hasn't really gone down but it does feel less bloated. Anything I should be doing differently?

prettybird · 18/10/2019 10:13

Post what you've been eating and we'll have a look.

But it's also why we recommend that you take measurements/use a tight item of clothing as well as (or instead of) weighing yourself, as for some people, the measurements change before the scales. Smile

rosesandsunflowers · 18/10/2019 10:30

Most mornings I've had 2 eggs scrambled with cream cooked in butter with a handful of spinach.
Lunch today: pumpkin soup
Dinner: chicken thighs cooked Spanish style with chorizo. Will have green veg on the side.

BIWI · 18/10/2019 10:34

@rosesandsunflowers firstly, it's only day 5!

Secondly:

I then felt pissed off that I'd not been outside for my entire birthday and DH had bought me one of those microwave chocolate puddings so I'm very sorry but I had that with a bit of ice cream (what was ridiculous was it tasted crazily sweet and I didn't even enjoy it that much so probably shouldn't have bothered. I also thought I might have a glass or two of wine but in the end only had 1 small gin and tonic!!

So you've also cheated.

I did warn that this isn't a very forgiving way of eating, and this (along with the beetroot discrepancy!) will not be helping.

OP posts:
BIWI · 18/10/2019 10:35

And @rosesandsunflowers why pumpkin soup? Pumpkin is quite a carby vegetable at 7.9g carbs per 100g.

Good morning ladies, checking in.

I did lot of prepping and batch cooking on Monday so my food was very samey this week. I’m not fussy so all good...

B: 1/2 L green tea
L: chicken curry with masses of cauliflower, broccoli and sprouts
D: home made veg soup with chicken chunks on top
W: 2/3 l a day, mainly green teas as suffering from teeth sensitivity so warm drinks are preferable

I’ve done few BC’s before so pls excuse my lack of breakfast. 18:6 works well for me and I feel really good in the mornings.

Food wise it was rather chicken heavy this week, I don’t eat as much red meat as I used to on previous BC’s, however there is some pork in the fridge to roast. Again with lots of veg.
Lunch today will be avo, cucumber, mozzarella, cherry tomatoes salad.
Dinner something eggy as I feel there was enough meat Mo-Th.

Wishing you all great Friday and relaxing weekend Grin

It was indeed BIWI Wink - just letting us know that it's there Grin

rosesandsunflowers · 18/10/2019 11:03

@BIWI thanks for the talking to! Fair enough I have cheated. I'm going to add on a 3 days of first two weeks stuff so I remedy my bad ways Wink. Reason I chose pumpkin soup was in the list of veg it says pumpkin was 2.2g. I was surprised when I read that and thought - ooh loads of pumpkins around at the moment I'll make pumpkin soup!! So now I know it's wrong I won't be making that.
I won't be buying bistro salad any longer either!

Oct '19 - Week 1 Low Carb Bootcamp - Here we go!
BIWI · 18/10/2019 11:06

Good call @rosesandsunflowers - I'll check that out more carefully.

OP posts:
BIWI · 18/10/2019 11:09

The Diet Doctor gives pumpkin a range of carb counts:

Pumpkin isn’t just a delicious thing to eat, they’re also relatively low in carbs (4-12 grams per 100 grams).

... and then also goes on to say:

The sweet flavor of the pumpkin makes it outstanding to use in gluten-free baking.

... which rather suggests that it will be a higher carb vegetable, if it can be used as a sweet ingredient!

If you've already made the soup, don't waste it. But otherwise, be careful - and keep the rest of your carbs low today.

I bloody love this Smile I don't feel hungry, my temptation to grab a small sweet treat (which, to be fair, wasn't big before Bootcamp) is non-existent. And I just don't feel hungry.

My weight is definitely down. I only have three kilos to lose to what I'm calling my 'stage weight' (I'm a wannabe bodybuilder) and I'm absolutely certain that this will get me there before Christmas (by the end of November hopefully).

Why on earth have I not embraced this before? Shock

I love reading everyone else's stories, experiences and recipes too. Keep it coming.

Have a great weekend everyone Smile

Cauliflowerpower · 18/10/2019 11:45

MORNING EVERYONE ((trills))

the Scales of Doom have MOVED (LA LA LA) in the right direction I hasten to add! :D :D :D I will leave the total for Monday's weigh in but HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!

RozHuntleysStump · 18/10/2019 11:51

Morning everyone. I am still 100% on plan but carb flu is beginning today as well as period :( What fun. Easy day for me I think. will just sit and knit and read. Just had 3 boiled eggs with Jersey salted butter. :)
