Morning all! Very sorry for the late start. I set my alarm. Woke up. Wondered why I'd set my alarm and went straight back to sleep Blush

Anyhoo.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

For those of us who are new, the spreadsheet is not only where you record your weight (if you want to - it's not obligatory), it's also where you'll find lots of other useful information. Look at the tabs at the bottom for the rules, a veg counter (that will work out your carb count for you if you're using it for a recipe), and lots of other resources to help you learn more about low carbing.

I'll be back to post more stuff later this morning, but for now just wanted to get the link out there.

If you're using your phone to access the thread, you will need to download the Google docs app.

So, it's my Mum's birthday on Saturday and fortuitously, I've been put in charge of the food. If I did something like this (see photo), I'd just need to pick out the low carb stuff while ignoring the rest. It's quite low carb without announcing to the entire family I'm not eating carbs...

@Rayna37 @biwi
Ah okay thanks.
I’ll juat have half of my Greek style yoghurt pot tomorrow / give them and carby sausages to DH.
Thanks for your time!

Opensesame1 · 16/10/2019 16:12

Hi, can I join? I have never done lc before so I apologise in advance for the million questions! My plan is to pretty much copy the meals the rest of you eat until I figure it out a bit! My starting weight is 13 st 5 and my height is 5"3.

Ndotto · 16/10/2019 16:18

Hi everyone. Some inspiring stuff on here! So ... was working from home today and a door to door fish man came round and I have bought half a freezer full of various white fish, including monkfish which I’ve never cooked, salmon and prawns. Obviously a low carb godsend but does anyone have any decent fish recipes? Am thinking fish pie with celeriac or cauliflower mash instead of potatoes, Thai curry for the monkfish - any other ideas welcome! My daughter is almost vegan (no meat, no dairy) but does eat fish so I am taking this as a sign from the low carb gods to carry on... (have never seen door to door fish man before 🎣)

Ndotto · 16/10/2019 16:19

Also @KondoKonvert that looks lush, would love that low carbing or not!

SittingontheSidelines · 16/10/2019 16:25

@m0therofdragons perhaps the winner will go halves with you if you share the wonderful secret of Bootcamp with him.

@absopugginglutely Fage total full fat Greek yogurt is less than that. 3.6 I think.

@OnceUponAMidnightBeery sparkling water is fine

@Summery1 tasty looking lunch. I love to see food pics.

@VeryLittleOwl I'm sure you'll look just as fab as the french ladies

Well done @ShagMeRiggins , I actually wasted minutes trying to understand what they were on about

and we have another 9 and a half weeks left?! that's gone right over my head

@KondoKonvert that looks delicious.

KondoKonvert · 16/10/2019 16:33

@Ndotto I know, right? I'd happily devour a board of ham and cheese at the best of times! I'll add a Greek salad too for the green stuff.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 16/10/2019 17:32

You're on, Opensesame1!

SittingontheSidelines · 16/10/2019 18:20

Food for today
B scrambled eggs
L. Greek Salad
D beef stew, cabbage and roast celariac.

lurknolinger · 16/10/2019 18:24

Hi @Athelstane sorry, another late joiner although I did start on Monday, can I ask you to add me too please. I've tried but the name column is 'view only' (at least that's what it's doing on my phone) so I was able to add my weight but not my name. I started BC after my holiday 3 weeks ago, so starting weight was 193.6lbs, Monday's weigh in weight was 184.4, so I'm really pleased to have shifted 9.2lbs in that time.
I've done boot camp before but have always gone back to letting the carbs creep in, so my aim this time is to maintain my eating habits afterwards, and accept once and for all that this WOE is for life.
Loving all the recipe ideas from everyone.

ShagMeRiggins · 16/10/2019 18:39

9 and a half weeks left

Yes, but you can leave your hat on for weigh in...

Athelstane your translation was about right, eg, the sentence made no sense whatsoever. Weirdos.

absopugginglutely · 16/10/2019 18:39

B: A pepperami, 3 cheese strings (i know i know crap but was in rush- will do better tomorrow)
L: scrambled egg with butter, pepper and a bit of cream and some smoked salmon.

D:Whole bag of watercress, radish, 4 cherry toms, Cucumber, celery, firm smoked tofu slices, 4x slices goats cheese brie covered in Caeser dressing low carb.

2x cream coffees and loads of water.

Nonononon · 16/10/2019 18:53

Phew what a day! Just got back in, managed to rush a decent breakfast in before i left this morning, then had lunch in my car in the parking lot this afternoon Grin I packed it up before I left home so was all bc friendly. Also turned down biscuits at the training day I was at so had a good day, apart from not drank as much water as I'd like but haven't done too bad.
Feeling really well and clear headed today too.
B: two egg omelette with fried mushrooms and some feta on the side.
L: hm coleslaw (last of) and a chicken thigh.
D: a whole bag of baby leaf salad, 1 tin tuna and mayo, olives, celery and more feta (Blush used the last of it up) made sure to use the oil in the olives as a dressing. It was lovely.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 16/10/2019 18:54

You're on, lurk and cracking progress so far!

Ketomeato · 16/10/2019 18:56

Evening all!

V stressful day today and usually i would have hit the biscuits but I was v good and drink water instead.

What has put the weight on me is constant snacking on bread and butter. And that is now stopped. I have put all the low-carb stuff in the fridge in the garage. So it’s a different habit when I feel like snacking.

Nonononon · 16/10/2019 18:58

Oh! If its not too much trouble can someone add my starting weight to the speadsheet please? I still can't get on.
It's ok if not, I understand it becoming tedious if someone has to keep adding everyone's weights over the next 10 weeks so I can just post each week on here.
But if it's no trouble, I was 12st 9,1/2lbs Blush

Tentontessie · 16/10/2019 19:09

Ok day for me, feeling less hungry but I try not to take too many snacks to work and it backfired as I couldn’t eat my prepared lunch as I dropped it on the floor and my building is near no shops!

B: 1 slice bacon, chicken pieces
S: cucumber dipped in cottage cheese
S: 1/2 chicken breast fillet
D: pork steak, buttery swede and sprouts cooked with panchetta and cream

AthelstaneTheUnready · 16/10/2019 19:16

I'll do it for you, Nonononon, and it's no trouble at all - just give me a shout when you want to update.

RubySlippers77 · 16/10/2019 20:00

More fish & veg for me today with curried cauliflower soup too, off to the shops tomorrow to stock up on fresh food. Does anyone know whether lactose free cream is acceptable to use in recipes? DP loves cream but is lactose intolerant, I'm not keen on it but would like a little to use on this diet. Makes sense to buy the lactose free one though if we can, it would get more use!

Tried to save my starting weight (as of 14/10) on the spreadsheet but not sure it worked as my PC is incredibly slow at the moment (thanks to the DC 'helping' with some work!) - it should be on there as 189lb.

Cauliflowerpower · 16/10/2019 20:03

Hi all. V busy today at work so no time to pop in. Thank you to all the butter/mayo/sausage nerds... it is you guys that keep us mortals on track.... Tesco fines sausages and chocolates are lovely and v low in carbs! I thoroughly recommend.

B - egg muffin
L - big salad with deli meats and bourbon
D - new recipe but should have been meatballs butane it into a meatloaf instead. With a creamy mushroom sauce and cauliflower puree.

I will post the recipe later!

Nonononon · 16/10/2019 20:14

Ah fab thank you athelstane Smile

venusandmars · 16/10/2019 20:21

I'm picturing cauliflowerpower sitting with her lunch and a glass of whiskey... Shock

dripdrops · 16/10/2019 20:29

Nonono well done for resisting the biscuits. I was at a training conference day too, and am always amazed at the amount of crap they lay on. Pastries on arrival, muffins and biscuits at mid morning, sandwich and crisp lunch, cakes mid afternoon then wine and more salty nibbles!

I avoided all the above and had:

11am: small pack of olives and a mini cheese
15:00: little pot of edamame, cheese crisp things from Sainsbury's and some ham
Dinner: Cajun chicken breast, cauli/broc cheese and sautéed garlic kale

Can anyone recommend good frying pans which are oven safe? I would love to make frittata/ tortilla type things for lunch at work but never know which pans can go under the grill!

Rayna37 · 16/10/2019 20:30

Today's food:
B: 2 eggs scrambled with butter on a slice of smoked salmon
Snack of cheese (about 30g?)
L: chicken with mayo and mustard on spinach, tomato and cucumber; Greek yogurt
D: pork steak with a quick sauce made from half a pot of creme fraiche, wholegrain mustard, a shallot and a few mushrooms (served two) with broccoli and mashed swede.
All my water, finished off with a buttermint tea. Lunch made ready for tomorrow. Halo
