Morning all! Very sorry for the late start. I set my alarm. Woke up. Wondered why I'd set my alarm and went straight back to sleep Blush

Anyhoo.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

For those of us who are new, the spreadsheet is not only where you record your weight (if you want to - it's not obligatory), it's also where you'll find lots of other useful information. Look at the tabs at the bottom for the rules, a veg counter (that will work out your carb count for you if you're using it for a recipe), and lots of other resources to help you learn more about low carbing.

I'll be back to post more stuff later this morning, but for now just wanted to get the link out there.

If you're using your phone to access the thread, you will need to download the Google docs app.

Hi all, may I please join? LC has worked for me in the past and I’m desperate to shift some weight before Christmas. I ‘ran’ a Half Marathon at the weekend and the photos are less than flattering plus I’m down to about three things in my wardrobe 😑

I’m 5’ 5” and 11st 10lbs as of this morning cries

CanIJustSay67 · 16/10/2019 13:25

Please can I be added, thank you.

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 16/10/2019 13:25

Please may I join? Been LC for a month now, (trying to get blood pressure down...) but this will be my first BC.

I can already see that I need to be doing a few things differently, more fats and much more water for a start, and the recipes are really inspiring.

Currently 13stone 1lb, started at 13 10.

Off to study the spreadsheets now, can I just ask is sparkling water OK? I find I drink a lot more of that.

Rayna37 · 16/10/2019 13:25

absopugging you need a different Greek yogurt. Though 200g is quite a big portion but if you're eating it for a whole meal, fair enough, but e.g. eggs would be better for breakfast.

Are you actually sure you have Greek Yogurt (usually a wide squat tub) and not Greek STYLE yogurt (usually a taller narrower pot) which is normally tastier but much higher in carbs. Always read the label of a brand new to you; you should be aiming for a yogurt below 4g of carbs ideally, there are plenty out there. Total, FAGE, kri kri, most own brands. I think Lidl is weird with the Greek style actually lower in carbs than the regular Greek there. Also Onken set yogurt (blue pot) is very low carb too so for anyone who finds plain Greek a bit tart/sour at this stage, that's another option.

Yes I know, I've become a yogurt nerd, a mayo nerd, yawn

prettybird · 16/10/2019 13:30

I love the Lidl Greek yoghurt. Don't even feel the need to add cream to it. Just mix in half a teaspoon of cinnamon to a wee bowl and have a yummy snack/meal.

Rayna37 · 16/10/2019 13:31

absopugging sorry just realised you also mentioned sausages - 7g carbs per 100g is REALLY high for sausages, avoid those. You can get them under 1g per 100g in most places, just check all the packets. The better brands are normally lowest as they're higher meat content but as you've found that's not a hard and fast rule.

also a sausage nerd, sorry

Rshard · 16/10/2019 13:38

Thanks BIWI, I will check out the granola recipe you mentioned.

I can second the brilliance of the Ikea induction hob too, we had a very similar set up whilst we were having a kitchen extension last year.

Summery1 · 16/10/2019 13:39

I had to rush out with just a creamy coffee for breakfast.
This was my lunch. BlushGrin
Mushroom spinach courgette cauliflower and 3 eggs.
Yum.
Followed by another coffee and a few spoons of yogurt.
I feel great.

prettybird · 16/10/2019 14:00

Just remembered I bought some clotted cream on Friday (and an extra pot that I put in the freezer for my Brexit stash) Grin

VeryLittleOwl · 16/10/2019 14:08

Forgot I had leftover cauliflower soup from yesterday that needed eating up, so had that for lunch and will do the cheese crust omelette tomorrow.

I got brave and bought 2 bikinis in the Fat Face sale, which have just been delivered, so I now have a REALLY good incentive to behave. We've been to the hotel we're going to in December a couple of times before and I am normally in a one-piece with a floaty top and a sarong over it, because (a) my existing bikinis are 11-year-old £3 Primark jobs and (b) the hotel is frequented by immaculately-preserved 50-something Frenchwomen who are all slim, tanned and very glamorous and I feel like an albino walrus beside them. Well, no more! We're off six weeks on Saturday and I will still have some wobbly bits, but they'll just have to avert their eyes Grin

JFDI2019 · 16/10/2019 14:09

Just checking in again - gotta keep that accountability up! Seems I have lost about 3lbs which is great, but many many more to lose!

I have been in meetings all morning
since 8 and jumping on a train now, so today has not been great in terms of getting all my water in, but I did pop in to Pret after a previous poster said they do omlettes/fritatta now - had a fetta one that was delicious; hot, quick and filled a hole! Not enough fat today though so far, will have to remedy that later.

Had a good day yesterday, got all my water in, and for dinner had a bit of a made up chicken dish with leeks, spinach, shallots, tenderstem broccoli, cream and butter. Heavenly!

BIWI · 16/10/2019 14:11

Welcome @Atilatheicedbun (but that's not a very low carb name!), @CanIJustSay67 and @OnceUponAMidnightBeery (also too carbs!)

The very lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready will hopefully be along soon to put you on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness.

Do make sure that you have a good read of all the stuff on the spreadsheet (check out the tabs) as there is some really useful information on there. And go and have a look at the recipe threads that are stickied at the top of the Bootcamp topic.

@absopugginglutely as our resident yoghurt and sausage nerd @Rayna37 has already pointed out, that's quite a lot of carbs in one meal. Sainsbury's Greek yoghurt is 4.1g per 100g so it would be a better option. And if you were to buy a single serve of yoghurt, I think it's around 170g, so perhaps aim for a smaller portion too?

When it comes to sausages, most supermarkets have much lower carb ones in their premium ranges - a lot are available with around 1g carbs per 100g

A quick question re: water.

If you exercise does that mean you need to drink more water than the rules show?

I only ask because after I've done a run or hot yoga I guzzle water. So should I be pleased I am getting through the water quota more quickly due to exercise or does this 'top up hydration' water not count towards your total?

Hope that makes sense???

Hey, can I join to please. Just been through a break-up and need a revenge body. Low carb always works really well for me. I'm 217lbs and 5'6.
Thank you

I’ve reported the spam. Fuck off, spammers.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 16/10/2019 14:48

I, myself, have recently started smoking again, after a break of several years, and it’s pissing me right off. Will quit again soon if for no other reason it now costs a bloody fortune.

Shag you have all my sympathy. (I smoked rollups so money wasn't the issue - only about a tenner a month). I lasted 6 years last time, and it was a disaster that set me off again. Cannot recommend Allen Carr highly enough for brainwashing yourself into stopping.

Atila, CanI, Beery, JustMe,you're all on.

Don't know if our spammer is actually some weird MI5 recruiting message Grin Hmm

BIWI · 16/10/2019 14:51

@graisse I don't actually know the answer to that question! I'd say - probably - that as long as you're hitting your target, then it's probably OK. But if you're still needing water, and hitting your target, then drink as much as you want.

Just remember to keep your sodium (and other electrolytes) up.

Atilatheicedbun · 16/10/2019 14:52

@AthelstaneTheUnready that’s great thank you! 😊

graisse · 16/10/2019 14:53

Thanks BIWI. I'm having one bottle of water a day with a hydration tablet to make sure my electrolytes don't get out of whack!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 16/10/2019 15:02

I mean, what does "my room-mate's last Step-Aunt" (translated there) even mean?

AthelstaneTheUnready · 16/10/2019 15:04

Is is french exercise?

La dernière belle-tante de mon coloc?

Shag, you're french in some way aren't you? Is that slang, or...?

MrsTerryPratchett · 16/10/2019 15:33

and we have another 9 and a half weeks left?!

9 and a half weeks?

Egg in a cup and spinach
Chicken mayo with celery
Salmon and buttery buttered butter (plus some veg)

The Scales of Barstardedness have started playing up already. They measured a pound difference between two weighings this morning. Can I borrow the big stick to beat them to a powder? TIA.

RozHuntleysStump · 16/10/2019 15:39

Lol mrsterrypratchet. I thought the same thing!
