So here we are!

Lots of us signed up this time, so inevitably the thread will move very quickly. Please, though, take the time to read the whole thread!. Although this is a place where you can post your daily menus, or your thoughts and questions, please don't just do this, but read what other people have posted too.

A bit thank you to the very lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready who has set up the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness. Star

The Spreadsheet

If your name isn't on there, don't panic! Just add yourself to the bottom of the list. Don't worry about trying to alphabetise it - that will be sorted out for you. (And if you're on the spreadsheet but don't want to be, don't worry - if you don't post on it your name will be taken off)

Here's a brief recap of the rules:

  1. Eat three proper meals a day
  2. Avoid processed foods
  3. Eat plenty of fat
  4. Make sure you are eating plenty of vegetables and salad
  5. Be careful about dairy (apart from butter which is unlimited)
  6. You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water a day
  7. No alcohol
  8. No fruit
  9. No nuts/seeds
10.No sugar or artificial sweeteners

The full rules are here . They're supposed to be stickied at the top of the Low Carb Bootcamp topic (along with the recipe threads), but for some reason they're stickied at the top of page 2!

Remember that after the first two weeks we can relax some of this, and move on to Bootcamp Light, which means that you can add some fruit (berries mainly), alcohol (in moderation) and nuts and seeds (again, in moderation), but the point of the strict initial phase is to help push your body into burning fat for fuel rather than carbohydrate.

And remember - if you cheat, you will only be delaying this process from happening!

Good luck to everyone. Any questions or problems, just shout! Smile

Is it ok to leave the start date blank and I put my heaviest recorded weight in the column C, is that ok?

Let’s do this. This is my first ever bootcamp and I’m quite excited. I’m having asparagus, lettuce, cucumber and roasted chicken for lunch

Mandelinka · 13/05/2019 13:02

I’ve managed to loose 3lbs in BB but gained 2 back in last 5 days ( weekend picnic w wine etc).
Ive done 5/6 BCs in the past and don’t normally eat breakfast, lunch is at around 2pm and dinner latest at 8 and I hardly ever snack. This seems to work for me and my work/family routine. I will try to include breakfast as often as possible, please don’t flame me if you see 1 L of green tea as my breakfast on some days!
B: 3 green teas
L: green salad, stir fried courgette, mushroom, eggs and cheese, topped with creme fresh. Soooo good
D: HM soup ( leeks, celery, kale, cauliflower and couple of carrots - it needs to appeal to my 5y DS and I know carrots will add colour and taste so he won’t complain)
Will add cream when done.

Having cream coffee in the garden, what a beautiful day to start BC!
Feeling very positive Smile

TheWayOfTheWorld · 13/05/2019 13:10

Thank you Athelstane!

Hefzi · 13/05/2019 13:12

Athelstane please may you add me too?

Whoever was worrying about being the heaviest on the spreadsheet, don't worry - I'm not on there yet! toots and cherries are my thinspiration, a lb at a time! I've maintained since last BC - mainly through getting rid of 90% of dairy though.

Breakfast today was asparagus and black coffee
Lunch - oily greens and a hard-boiled egg
Dinner - frittata/omelette type thing to use up some ends of veg

Rshard · 13/05/2019 13:28

Loving all the positivity on the thread! It’s making me feel really motivated and also ignore the slab of Malteser rocky road that a lovely colleague bought me at lunch Grin I will give it to my dd.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 13/05/2019 13:46

Rshard I find that when I am in the zone it is easy to turn down all that stuff (and internally I am cross with myself for having been "swayed" previously).

I have been looking at a few recipes on the Sugar Free Londoner page - this is probably not strict BC friendly but for those who need a bit of choc now and again I made her "milk chocolate" at the weekend: double cream, cacao butter, cocoa powder and some powdered erythritol - hits the spot and lower carb than normal dark choc.

PushkarKali · 13/05/2019 13:55

Thank you for your spreadsheet magic, @AthelstaneTheUnready - it really is magical! So much useful information on there.

I'm hoping to lose about 30 pounds - I lost about 5 stone on Atkins five years ago, have put back on about 2 stone, and would like to get back there. It's been laziness really that meant it crept up, so Bootcamp should be a good opportunity to refocus. I've never really stopped thinking in an Atkins way - still avoid bread, bananas and especially pasta, as I know they're the slippery slope to ruin!

Today so far I've had some pork scratchings for breakfast (not the greatest, I know, but mmmmm) and am having a tuna mayonnaise salad for lunch. So far so good Smile

AthelstaneTheUnready · 13/05/2019 14:02

You're on, Hefzi!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 13/05/2019 14:04

Mudcake, whatever suits you! I'm just the Formula Ogre Wink

venusandmars · 13/05/2019 14:06

@Rshard knowing that BC started today, I managed to sit in the car with dh yesterday while he ate a banana and a bag of crisps. I drank some water.

@TheWayOfTheWorld on the first two weeks of bootcamp cocoa powder and sugar alternatives are not allowed. I know because BIWI wielded her big stick when I posted a recipe that included them on the last BC Blush Avoiding sweet things is as much about retraining our palates away from sweet-tasting things, which does make it easier to stick to this way of eating long term.

After the first 2 weeks of strict bootcamp I have the occasional square of 90% cocoa.

PushkarKali · 13/05/2019 14:06

Is a small amount of lemon juice allowed (e.g. for salad dressing), or does that come within the 'no fruit' rule?

Rshard · 13/05/2019 14:10

Absolutely @thewayoftheworld! There is homemade baked goods around also. Day 1 is going well!

So in the zone @venus!

MrsTerryPratchett · 13/05/2019 14:13

So happy to be back on the wagon. Never felt that about any 'diet' (way of eating) before.

My tip since I've done it once is to MEASURE yourself if you can bear it. I lost so many inches last time but just knew from clothes so I've measured this morning and will see the inches drop off I'm sure. As I shove butter into my mouth!

Thanks to BIWI and Athelstane.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 13/05/2019 14:17

Venus, absolutely - hence saying it is not strict BC friendly (but I've been doing it for 3 weeks now...) - will wait for a couple of weeks before making any other similar suggestions Grin

tokenman2 · 13/05/2019 14:23

Please can i be added to the spreadsheet?
It wont let me do it myself.

Many thanks

FFSJustStickToIt · 13/05/2019 14:29

Just tried to add myself to the spreadsheet but a message came up saying it was protected. Did this happen to others?

TheWaiting · 13/05/2019 14:32

Hi everyone. Very ready to get started. I’m allergic to eggs so I won’t have that go to option but so far so good. Fage total 5% yoghurt for breakfast, cabbage and bacon for lunch and lots of water so far.

2 questions: Firstly, I know milk is carby but is 2 cups a day ok? I have very little milk in there anyway. Secondly, I followed BIWI’s link to download the app to allow me to access the spreadsheet from my apple phone. However, it’s now asking for a google email. Do I need to set up a google email address? Also (sorry if this is a stupid question) how do I then access the spreadsheet from the homepage of that app? I’m rubbish at this sort of thing. Blush

Thanks for the motivation!

MeltedEggMum · 13/05/2019 14:44

Checking in. Did the last bootcamp (different name) and am happy to report I've got a lower start weight than my finish weight a few weeks ago. :) I am going through a very stressful time and have not turned to sugar as a crutch, so this is a good thing.

I am just 4-5kg above healthy weight BMI so that's my goal.

Iamnotacerealkiller · 13/05/2019 14:50

Hello everyone! here we are again. this is bootcamp 4 for me.

I gained weight BB but i started this one a week early and have lost 8lb! so only a pound more then the end of last bootcamp. Last time i plateaued for weeks then fell off the wagon in sheer frustration so i hope by starting the 'difficult' bit following a woosh at the beginning of bootcamp i can get though it.

I have a wedding to go to in august which is my deadline for getting down to my ideal weight. i would love to get to 11st with 10st 7 as my eventual goal but i intend to buy a dress this week in a size 12 for the wedding so as long as i fit into that im good. From previous experience that should be about a stone less then now which i think is doable in 10 weeks.

I don't eat breakfast other than a fruity infused water.

Lunch - salami, cream cheese, babybel and cucumber

Dinner will be spicy beef meatballs with tomato sauce and spinach/broccoli.

MightyWings · 13/05/2019 14:57

Hello all.
Just clocked in with my starting weight and starting properly tomorrow. I have some keto low carb bread to take to work which is very filling.

Feeling HUGE and looking forward to starting.
good luck all :)

AthelstaneTheUnready · 13/05/2019 15:12

FFS and token, you're on!

I have protected the name column I'm afraid, since someone previously unfortunately wiped it by accident and we lost a load of names... but I am more than happy to add/change/remove anyone, just ask!

BrassicaBabe · 13/05/2019 15:30

Good to be back in BC. Some great posts. Nice to get meal inspiration from others!

Finished last BC at 9.10.2. Logging in on SofF with Friday's weigh of 9.13.8 which is the Friday weight for the last 3 Fridays! (I'm being hard in myself not logging today's weight of 10.2!)

I ran 12k today my furthest ever!

No breakfast for me (long term low carber)
Lunch: rhubarb and a bit of double cream. It's a vegetable don't you know Grin
Dinner: lamb and buttered savoy

m0therofdragons · 13/05/2019 15:38

Gosh this thread is busy! Hi everyone. My starting weight is 10st 2lbs. Last boot camp I was so jealous of those at this weight so I need to be clear, this is my 3rd boot camp ever and my second in a row. I started the January one at 11st 10lbs and at 5' 5" I was overweight. I'm now a healthy bmi but top end.

Breakfast was coffee and cream plus plain Greek yoghurt.
Lunch cauliflower with melted cheese and bacon (not ideal as processed but I needed to use it up)
Dinner is a lamb curry made from scratch in the slow cooker and served on a bed of spinach rather than rice. (Dd1's special request as it's day 1 of sats).

I usually have an evening snack but not today.

Heartyhooker · 13/05/2019 16:11

@motherOfdragons, sats seem to be a good excuse, have so far provided ice cream as per homework sheet and cooked breakfast this am and chilli stew for tea.

Today's food
B creamy coffee ( week7)
L hallumi, mushroom, rocket and tomato salad
T beef and chilli stew with cauliflower mash and homemade tortillas for others ( sats homework also says cook something nice and I have a very concentious ds1

HypatiaCade · 13/05/2019 16:23

Started abysmally - last minute helping out a friend with emergency childcare and didn't have the ability to prep my food properly, so:

B - a few slices of ham
L - barenaked noodles with tuna, red pesto and mayonnaise (noodles tasted vile so I just picked out the tuna.

Starving - so snaffled some pork scratchings to snack on to avoid snacking on carb heavy food. Not ideal, but at least low carb.

Need to make sure dinner is veg heavy, so likely to be salmon with broccoli, cauliflower and cheese, and might add a few extra other veg in to pad it out.

And haven't drunk enough water, been guzzling tea all day.... Blush
