So here we are!

Lots of us signed up this time, so inevitably the thread will move very quickly. Please, though, take the time to read the whole thread!. Although this is a place where you can post your daily menus, or your thoughts and questions, please don't just do this, but read what other people have posted too.

A bit thank you to the very lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready who has set up the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness. Star

The Spreadsheet

If your name isn't on there, don't panic! Just add yourself to the bottom of the list. Don't worry about trying to alphabetise it - that will be sorted out for you. (And if you're on the spreadsheet but don't want to be, don't worry - if you don't post on it your name will be taken off)

Here's a brief recap of the rules:

  1. Eat three proper meals a day
  2. Avoid processed foods
  3. Eat plenty of fat
  4. Make sure you are eating plenty of vegetables and salad
  5. Be careful about dairy (apart from butter which is unlimited)
  6. You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water a day
  7. No alcohol
  8. No fruit
  9. No nuts/seeds
10.No sugar or artificial sweeteners

The full rules are here . They're supposed to be stickied at the top of the Low Carb Bootcamp topic (along with the recipe threads), but for some reason they're stickied at the top of page 2!

Remember that after the first two weeks we can relax some of this, and move on to Bootcamp Light, which means that you can add some fruit (berries mainly), alcohol (in moderation) and nuts and seeds (again, in moderation), but the point of the strict initial phase is to help push your body into burning fat for fuel rather than carbohydrate.

And remember - if you cheat, you will only be delaying this process from happening!

Good luck to everyone. Any questions or problems, just shout! Smile

I had some Greek yoghurt earlier to settle a dodgy tummy istillmissblockbuster, seems to have done the trick.

Congrats on your run rayna, that’s a great time

IStillMissBlockbuster · 19/05/2019 17:57

Nice idea Rshard. I wonder if I can convince DH to get me some.

Heartyhooker · 19/05/2019 18:06

@18pages my housemate at uni used to dry his feet with a hair dryer which cured athletes foot.

Batshittery · 19/05/2019 18:12

Blimey, this thread is fast moving.
Well done on the run Rayna

Ninkaninus · 19/05/2019 19:03

My dinner tonight (sorry for the awful quality of my photos)::

Chicken Caesar salad - gem lettuce, one chicken breast, Parmesan shavings, and pork scratching croutons.

Delicious, and that little bit of crunch was just so satisfying! 👍

Have a good night, all!

That desserts/sweet things thread - are they 'allowed' on bootcamp? The beginning of the thread they shouldn't be viewed as treats and aren't compatible with the first 2 weeks of bootcamp and I must be being dumb because i'm a bit confused. If they weren't at all bootcampy, why are they there? Are they allowed after the first 2 weeks? Sorry for being dense!

blackteaplease · 19/05/2019 19:26

@blockbuster after two weeks you can choose to move onto bootcamp lite where additional items are allowed.

mrwalkensir · 19/05/2019 19:30

Ooh - just found old bit of lamb in the fridge. Chucked it in with the reduced asparagus that I’d picked up, a chicken stock cube and water (obvs). Cooked then blitzed. Pretty pleasing soup. Also picked up reduced crispy “seaweed” which I’d been craving. A small pack has few carbs. When frying it off, realised I needed a bigger snack, so chucked an egg in. Not bad. Getting into a whynottryit frame of mind. And one of BIWIs classic cauliflower cheeses in the oven Smile

Youwanapizzame · 19/05/2019 19:30

Hi everyone! Had a good day today
Wore a new jumpsuit that's been too small today! Its only a very casual one but I feel good!

B - 3 egg bacon and cheese omelette
L- cucumber rolls and more cucumber with sliced meats
D- slow cooked gammon with creamed cabbage, stuffed mushrooms and roast cauli broccoli!

Yummers. Think my scale is proper confused. It has me at minus 11 and a stone 4lbs down. .... 😂🤣🤣👊

Youwanapizzame · 19/05/2019 19:33

Oooooh just had shopping delivered.... anyone else shop like they've had a blow to the head. There's so much in there I think it would feed an army.

Bloody madness 😱😖😛😳😳😳

TheWaiting · 19/05/2019 19:51

Hi everyone. I think it was me who first mentioned the thrush. My GP friend said the same happened to her and she’s seen it lots. It goes into overdrive trying to cling on.
18pages, I’m not sure if it’s the same for AF although they’re both fungus infections so it could well be. I had very bad AF about 7yrs ago. Advice I got was not to put bare feet into any shoes. To wash them each night as soon as I got home with an anti bac soap. Dry thoroughly esp between toes (v important) and then stay barefoot for the rest of the evening. It worked for me.

Almahart · 19/05/2019 19:51

Just had a nice evening preparing for next week - I’ve made coleslaw, spicy pork mince to have with little gems and chorizo and kale soup so have lots of nice things lined up

prettybird · 19/05/2019 19:55

IStillMissBlockbuster - all the ingredients are "allowed" after the 1st 2 weeks as they are Boot Camp Lite compatible, but should be eaten in moderation.

Part of the re-education of our tastebuds and our way of thinking is to start not to see sweet things automatically as treats. But some of us will enjoy them with friends and family, say at weekends (and they won't even realise that they are eating HFLC Wink).

The chocolate orange and cardamom pots are actually one of ds' favourite desserts Grin

IStillMissBlockbuster · 19/05/2019 19:58

Awesome, thanks!

TheWaiting · 19/05/2019 20:04

Good day here too.
B: 3 turkey rashers
L: tuna with lots of salad. I don’t eat mayo or dressing but I actually like it better without anyway.
D: chicken mixed with a teaspoon of tikka paste mixed with some double cream. I was amazed at the difference in carb level from one paste to another. The Waitrose one was about 3g less carbs per 100g. Mixed this in with some cauliflower rice. Just like ordering a curry but yummier (genuinely) and ridiculously healthier.
Off to the gym now leaving DH to iron school uniforms. Grin

MrsBertBibby · 19/05/2019 20:49

Not looking forward to the morning weigh in as I have bobbled up over the weekend, dammit. Really trying to get the water down my neck but it's not easy! How much are we allowed to count towards water from tea?

MrsBertBibby · 19/05/2019 20:52

Making the celeriac boulangere for dinner although I should have started earlier.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 19/05/2019 20:57

Well today has been exhausting. DD had a ballet show with two performances, afternoon and evening so most of the day has been taken up with that.

B: hard boiled egg with butter, couple of spoonfuls of Greek yoghurt.
L: 2 rashes back bacon and some mushrooms, fried in butter. Couple of bits of cheese.
D: take away as not long in with DD. Tandoori chicken (on the bone) with saag paneer. Saved half of the latter for tomorrow.

Not had as much water today as my bladder wouldn't have lasted through DD's show if I had. Had 1.5, maybe 2 litres. Trying to drink the last litre before bed.

18pagesfrontandback · 19/05/2019 21:02

Thanks Heartyhooker and Thewaiting. I’ve tried all of the above. I wash them every a.m and p.m. Thoroughly dry with separate towel (always boil washed), and use athletes foot talc afterwards. Work from home so wear flip flops most of time. Socks always washed on 70, rotate footwear etc. I’ve tried loads of creams/powders. Think it will take a nuclear bomb to shift it Hmm

I don’t think my toes help as I’ve got hobbit feet and the smallest two toes are a bit bent so don’t think it’s equivalent to having a skin fold. I AM SO SORRY TO ANYONE EATING RIGHT NOW OR WHO FINDS FOOT TALK BOAKY!

I think I’m probably quite prone to yeasty stuff on skin anyway, though weirdly never down there. But I do sometimes get yeasty rashes under boobs when extra sweaty (did I mention I’m sweaty ) and occasionally around my mouth when I dribble in my sleep under the weather.

Right, well that’s enough of my dating profile Hmm

Would just be great if this woe added another bonus by ridding me of this bane. Or at least reducing. Will keep an eye on it and report back any updates/improvements. I’m sure you’ll all be riveted Grin

Youwanapizzame · 19/05/2019 21:04

Omg butter braised cabbage with some cream stirred in just before the end

Where have you been all.my life

....

😍😍😍

18pagesfrontandback · 19/05/2019 21:05

I notice that with curry pastes too Thewaiting I’ve used the Pataks mild curry paste (spoonful in raw omelette mix with spinach, bit of cream and then topped with feta during cooking is lovely) and found it not too high.

Your dinner sounds yum. And Star for going to the gym on a Sunday night!

Rayna37 · 19/05/2019 21:06

MrsBertBibby I recall from previous boot camps you can count two caffeinated teas/coffees towards your water intake.

Great dinner of pork chop, Cavolo Nero, broccoli and mashed swede with a sauce of shallots and mushrooms in creme fraiche and wholegrain mustard.

Well down on water this weekend so will see how I weigh in tomorrow!

TheWayOfTheWorld · 19/05/2019 21:11

I've done ok - but only because I swerved the Indian buffet by having a "headache" and going to the car for a while. Haven't managed as much water as normal as was in car and then wedding ceremony (for 3 hours!) - trying to play catch up now but probably only going to coming in at 1.7 litres...

This week I've got at least one lunch and one dinner to navigate...

TheWayOfTheWorld · 19/05/2019 21:12

@Youwanapizzame butter and cream make everything tastier! Grin

Almahart · 19/05/2019 21:13

Hmm I think I’m drinking tons of water but wonder if it’s enough. Will start measuring from tomorrow
