So here we are!

Lots of us signed up this time, so inevitably the thread will move very quickly. Please, though, take the time to read the whole thread!. Although this is a place where you can post your daily menus, or your thoughts and questions, please don't just do this, but read what other people have posted too.

A bit thank you to the very lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready who has set up the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness. Star

The Spreadsheet

If your name isn't on there, don't panic! Just add yourself to the bottom of the list. Don't worry about trying to alphabetise it - that will be sorted out for you. (And if you're on the spreadsheet but don't want to be, don't worry - if you don't post on it your name will be taken off)

Here's a brief recap of the rules:

  1. Eat three proper meals a day
  2. Avoid processed foods
  3. Eat plenty of fat
  4. Make sure you are eating plenty of vegetables and salad
  5. Be careful about dairy (apart from butter which is unlimited)
  6. You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water a day
  7. No alcohol
  8. No fruit
  9. No nuts/seeds
10.No sugar or artificial sweeteners

The full rules are here . They're supposed to be stickied at the top of the Low Carb Bootcamp topic (along with the recipe threads), but for some reason they're stickied at the top of page 2!

Remember that after the first two weeks we can relax some of this, and move on to Bootcamp Light, which means that you can add some fruit (berries mainly), alcohol (in moderation) and nuts and seeds (again, in moderation), but the point of the strict initial phase is to help push your body into burning fat for fuel rather than carbohydrate.

And remember - if you cheat, you will only be delaying this process from happening!

Good luck to everyone. Any questions or problems, just shout! Smile

I can’t seem to get on the spreadsheet but I’m starting at 193lbs. Sad

TheSquiffyQuiff · 13/05/2019 18:40

Anyone else have an ‘unable to open item’ pop up when trying to open the doc?
Worked fine before Easter 🤔

m0therofdragons · 13/05/2019 18:40

like herding cats GrinGrinGrinGrin

I log everything as I plan a day in advance and mfp helps but I don't get hung up on calories. Sorry BlushGrin

AthelstaneTheUnready · 13/05/2019 18:52

Squiffy, you're probably trying to open the wrong doc! Grin I only made this one a few days ago, so clear your browsing history and then click BIWI's link again.

littlebillie · 13/05/2019 19:08

B greek yogurt
L Garlic Mushrooms - no toast
D chicken boiled egg, olives and sour cream with chives and salad.

littlebillie · 13/05/2019 19:12

Also useful to see how much I have lost since I started last year, I am still 11lbs ahead and still a size 14. Brilliant losses for Tootastic and ilovecherries - reminds me of why I am here!

Mudcakemaniac · 13/05/2019 19:16

Hi RocketPockets, I’d use butter to cook with because it stands heat better than olive oil. Olive oil oxidates at higher temperatures and I think that creates trans fat which are very bad

BIWI · 13/05/2019 19:28

@RocketPockets - lard is also fantastic! Along with coconut oil.

I fry with butter, but also add a splash of oil, as this helps to stop the butter burning.

Thanks BIWI, I'll give the noodles another try at some point doing what you suggested. It was the texture more than the taste, actually, they felt like gelatinous plastic, bleugh.

Dinner was a lovely stir fry with cauliflower, broccoli, asparagus, babysweetcorn and lemon and herb Smoked Salmon which I chopped up and mixed in, cooked with a very generous portion of olive oil and flavoured with soy sauce. So hopefully fatty enough. If I snack tonight I'll nibble on some cheese, definitely not low fat!! Grin

I was hoping to make some chicken and avocado (fry some onion, add some diced chicken thighs, when cooked add some chopped up avocado, thicken with cream, and add some fried bacon bits to the top - for low carb I'd put it in a lettuce leaf wrap.) but the blasted store was completely out of avocados.... Sad

At 215 lbs I'm the heaviest I've ever been, and I hate it. I figure even without the rest of the low carbing, the lack of chocolate which I seem to have started inhaling will do wonders for the weight loss!.

Ninkaninus · 13/05/2019 19:56

Just had our dinner:

Thai-style seafood soup with seabass, king prawns and mussels, bamboo shoots and sugar snap peas. The peas aren’t ideal for bc, but we had them already and weren’t going to waste them...however having only had eggs, veg, and a little bit of leftover tuna salad today, I will be okay on overall carb count.

It was delicious!

Have a great evening everyone!

Just popping in to wish everyone all the best -bootcamp WILL be successful for you (if you stick to the rules!)

I have not joined up as I lost nearly 20kg (starting weight 84.6, end weight about 65 I think) on the last one (ta dah!)

So I don't have much if anything to lose, plus the fact it's Ramadan and I live in a Muslim country so I have decided to fast through the day (just food, not liquids) so would be beaten with a stick for skipping meals Grin

I shall be lurking and nicking any new recipes and ideas.

RocketPockets · 13/05/2019 20:05

I've got some coconut oil in the cupboard! Will try with that & have some spreadable butter in the fridge, fairly sure it's light though so will have to get some different to cook with!
Feeling a bit hungry now, still at work though so will have a boiled egg or some jam & cheese when I get home.

Notlostjustexploring · 13/05/2019 20:16

HypatiaCade

Thought it only polite to say that I'll be nicking your chicken and avocado recipe. That sounds delicious!!!!

mrwalkensir · 13/05/2019 20:26

Evening all. Bit of cheese for breakfast, then some old ratatouille with lamb that was left over in the fridge for lunch. Cabbage, courgette and leek stir fried with some chicken for tea so far... Not properly organised yet so need to meal plan

HypatiaCade · 13/05/2019 20:37

Notlostjustexploring - I usually add sweet chilli sauce to it, but for low carb a dash of chilli spice would give it some lovely zip if you like it spicy!

And yes, it is delicious. Off to a different store tomorrow....Wink

venusandmars · 13/05/2019 20:38

@3brightstars3 not for the first 2 weeks of bootcamp, but I make this drink:

dessert spoon of coconut oil
dessert spoon of butter
teaspoon of raw cocoa powder
100ml boiling water

Stir till the butter has melted, add 50ml double cream and whizz in a hand held blender. It is frothy, creamy, coconutty, and chocolate-y. I used to add a quarter spoon of erythritol or stevia, but now I just have it without anything to sweeten it. The quantities make enough for two. I put the leftovers in the fridge and eat / drink it cold the next day (just stir it up)

bandit34 · 13/05/2019 20:45

B - Fage 5% Greek Yogurt
L - Chicken Salad with cheese
D - Fish with Vegetables

Snacks - boiled eggs

1Wildheartsease · 13/05/2019 20:56

Waves to everyone - good to see you all!

Have maintained rather than lost since last BC- I stuck to lite bootcamp easily but probably overdid the dairy - However, I am still holding at a loss of over 40lb and feel full of enthusiasm.

Today:
B greek yogurt and 1 coffee with cream (lots of water)
L eggs and babybel (eaten on the hoof but with lots of water)
D fresh sardines fried in olive oil served with roast med veg (green pepper - courgette-tomato - garlic- preserved lemon) , green salad leaves and homemade coleslaw. Redbush tea and water

TheWayOfTheWorld · 13/05/2019 20:58

I'm sitting at the train station waiting for a train home - not had dinner yet - and somebody has just sat down next to me and is eating very pungent Doritos. Argh!

BIWI · 13/05/2019 21:01

Stay strong!

ilovecherries · 13/05/2019 21:03

I had home made Meatzza for dinner (which prompted me to put the M&S one on the low carb food thread). Had it with a large green salad and garlic mushrooms.

WheelyCote · 13/05/2019 21:08

OMGGGGG!!! ive been so good all day. Come to DPs flat and theres bubblegum sweet bottles on the sidee.😱

PushkarKali · 13/05/2019 21:18

I'm feeling very proud of myself because I made lasagne for the family and I only had the Bolognese sauce (20% fat pork mince, lots of courgette, tomatoes and peppers) with a little bit of cheddar on top. It was still tasty Smile

18pagesfrontandback · 13/05/2019 21:25

Still need to add myself to spreadsheet but might not get on til tmw now because having a useless fucker of a day, (though Halo regarding BC) please don’t delete me! Grin

TheWaiting · 13/05/2019 21:35

Just did an hour at the gym. Hoping to do that 4 times a week to get that fat burning. Those of you who have done it before, can I ask, roughly how long before the mad carb cravings ease. I like to have a goal so if I know they’ll lessen in, say, 2wks, I can focus on resisting until I reach that.
