So here we are!

Lots of us signed up this time, so inevitably the thread will move very quickly. Please, though, take the time to read the whole thread!. Although this is a place where you can post your daily menus, or your thoughts and questions, please don't just do this, but read what other people have posted too.

A bit thank you to the very lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready who has set up the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness. Star

The Spreadsheet

If your name isn't on there, don't panic! Just add yourself to the bottom of the list. Don't worry about trying to alphabetise it - that will be sorted out for you. (And if you're on the spreadsheet but don't want to be, don't worry - if you don't post on it your name will be taken off)

Here's a brief recap of the rules:

  1. Eat three proper meals a day
  2. Avoid processed foods
  3. Eat plenty of fat
  4. Make sure you are eating plenty of vegetables and salad
  5. Be careful about dairy (apart from butter which is unlimited)
  6. You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water a day
  7. No alcohol
  8. No fruit
  9. No nuts/seeds
10.No sugar or artificial sweeteners

The full rules are here . They're supposed to be stickied at the top of the Low Carb Bootcamp topic (along with the recipe threads), but for some reason they're stickied at the top of page 2!

Remember that after the first two weeks we can relax some of this, and move on to Bootcamp Light, which means that you can add some fruit (berries mainly), alcohol (in moderation) and nuts and seeds (again, in moderation), but the point of the strict initial phase is to help push your body into burning fat for fuel rather than carbohydrate.

And remember - if you cheat, you will only be delaying this process from happening!

Good luck to everyone. Any questions or problems, just shout! Smile

I think my body is having a tough time adjusting to all the salad. I almost preferred being bunged up!

I'm now seven days without sugar. Given last weekend I had for supper one evening (a) a whole pint of Ben & Jerry's Birthday Cake, (b) a small pot of yellow-stickered profiteroles and (c) a bag of supermarket bakery cookies, I'm going to give myself a pat on the back for that.

Rayna37 · 19/05/2019 21:31

Right bedtime, just wanted to call a NSV: I've seen three pictures taken of me today and I like all of them!

SittingontheSidelines · 19/05/2019 21:43

Well done @TheWayOfTheWorld , I'm sure you'll swerve beautifully this week as well.

Breakfast yogurt
Lunch gammon LOTS of crackling and salad.
Dinner left over cauliflower and broccoli cheese and gammon. It's laying a bit heavy now.

Little behind with the water so I'm sipping water in bed. I'll get there before I go to sleep.

18pagesfrontandback - I caught some athletes foot from a shower in Singapore many years ago, and it kept bothering me for years. I eventually got fed up and went to the GP, and they gave me some seriously strong medication for it. It worked, and now I only ever get the mildest of irritation if I've been in the same sweaty socks for too long.

Might be better to just go to the GP, get rid of it, and not worry anymore?

DC's Friday night cricket training with all the parents around me drinking was a bit difficult. A friend asked me if I was dehydrated because I seemed to be drinking lots of water Grin.

A difficult weekend all round, really. Watching Eurovision without snacking was really hard. Soooo wanted to snack on some chocolate.

Saturday :
Brunch - egg, bacon and mushrooms.
Dinner - burger patties with cheese in lettuce, cauliflower and leek mash (yum), asparagus and some avocado (most of which I dolloped onto the burger meat.

Today:
B: Greek Yoghurt with cinnamon (didn't really taste of cinnamon, just stopped the Greek Yoghurt from tasking so Greek Yoghurtish.
L: Salad with chicken.
D: Roast chicken, baked asparagus with parmesan, coleslaw and some baby sweetcorn.

Avoided all of the very carby snacks at the cricket match....

Trying to be a bit more adventurous with my meals now, as I'm still being really tempted by the sweet stuff, and if I feel deprived flavour wise, I know I'll succumb.

One lovely thing I noticed, normally when we have a roast chicken, I eat so much of it, and I pick at it when I'm putting everything away that hardly anything is left. Today there was loads left, and I wasn't tempted to pick at it. So guess what's for lunch tomorrow?! Grin

I'm starting the week 2 thread a bit early, as I'm not going to be around in the morning, so here it is

Good luck!

I know I’ve already missed a week but can I join you? I’ve got a friends wedding in six weeks and a holiday in eight weeks and I could really do with shifting at least a stone.

namechange5575 · 19/05/2019 23:02

I'm starting tomorrow as well. I was thinking I needed to do a low carb something as I was mainlining chocolate and hot cross buns. That was last Wednesday and I saw a Bootcamp was up and running. I've been shopping and planning for this Monday.

NigellaAwesome · 19/05/2019 23:09

I know the new thread has started, but I just wanted to check in here for some accountability. I only really started on Saturday. Today was:

B: Decaf coffee with almond milk & coconut oil
L: 2 chunks of Dolcelatte cheese (had MRI this morning, then straight to a friend's event - avoided food after it, and this was the best I could manage)
Sn: Home made egg mayo
D: Pork crackling with braised celeriac cubes, roasted broccoli and home made mayo on the side.

Drinks: 1 decaf coffee, 2 buttermint teas, 1 litre water.

I did a bit of cookathon today, and have made home made aioli, coriander & lime dressing, egg mayo with spring onions and home made mayo, along with some spiced cauliflower soup. I'm going to make some Bolognese sauce tomorrow. I love a full lc fridge.

Summery1 · 19/05/2019 23:44

I'm posting on here also- there's still room Grin and it's week 1 stuff.
BIWI I thought tomatoes were allowed, and olives, for Arrabiata sauce.Blush
I'm very pleased with my week. Somehow I'm in the headspace to do this diet this time. I've tried before and failed and abandoned. Rather than looking at what I can't have, today I had steak with garlic butter. I smothered the steak and broccoli with delicious butter. I cannot remember doing that in my adult life.
Yesterday I was at 2 Holy Communion parties. Loads of home baked desserts which I declined.
So, Saturday
B: mushrooms avocado, egg, bacon,
L: chicken curry / beef stroganoff and loads of green veg. I knew the sauce had flour so I left as much as possible on my plate.
D: Pretty much the same.
Today
B: coffee
L: omelette with mushrooms and bacon
D: Steak with garlic butter and mushrooms broccoli and salad.

felippertyfeck · 19/05/2019 23:46

Week one done !! Weekend definitely the toughest part . very motivating hearing about the party carb dodging. Here’s to week two!!

B. Full fat yoghurt
L. Low carb sausages and salad
D. Steak and cream mushroom sauce

B. Full fat yoghurt
L. Bag pork scratchings
D. Roast pork and cauliflower cheese

Doing ok on the water, but not the 4 litres i need to get to. Next week I will do it! Big pat for you @verylittleowl

Summery1 · 19/05/2019 23:52

Nigella you are inspiring me. I might do a batch cook tomorrow. I've been away and need a fridge tidy up too.

Tamara & name lots have joined later. If you want your name on the list, ask BIWI. Better late than never, there's still 9 weeks to go.

Best luck to everyone weighing in the morning.

RocketPockets · 20/05/2019 07:37

Have t had a chance to catch up on the whole thread yet, but I will hopefully today!

Weekend at the in laws went really well, eggs for breakfast, salad for lunch & chicken & veg for dinner. We were at a hotel last night and I had a chicken breast with some tikka spices & seasonal greens cooked in butter. It was absolutely delicious. My DS left a plateful if chips and barely touched his ice cream and jelly and it took all the willpower in the world to not touch it, but I didn't and felt better for it!

Today we're on a day out and as we've been overnight at the hotel I haven't been able to prep anything. Hoping there is something at the park today just a simple salad will do!

@BIWI Super happy about the pork scratchings! Not gonna make them a habit though as I know I'll end up abusing it. Crisps are where I tend to fall down!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 20/05/2019 08:44

STS, entirely deserved. off on holiday for a couple of days so will catch up when back. Flowers to all the triers and achievers this week Flowers

Flyingsouthwiththeswallows · 20/05/2019 08:55

1.4lb off (cant get onto spreadsheet) Not amazing, but then I haven’t been perfect.

Week 2 starting with even greater motivation.

Wishing everyone a good week 2

BIWI · 20/05/2019 09:20

Please can you move to the week 2 thread?

Broccoli is very low so I wouldn’t worry! 👍🙂

Video of princess Alexandra’s wedding. Princess Benedikte (sister of Queen Margrethe and mother of the bride) was in attendance, as was princess Martha-Louise and her new beau.
