As ever, it will be for 10 weeks, so the final weigh-in will be Monday 22 July, so will finish just in time for the school summer holidays.

A very warm welcome, to everyone - whether you're a newbie or if you've low carbed/done Bootcamp before.

So we have the weekend now, before we start, and this is a very good time to get planning and get everything in place.

Make sure you've dealt with/eaten/disposed of any low carb temptations. But most importantly, make sure you have planned for your food and meals over the next week.

*Low carbing isn't an easy WOE (way of eating), and the wider world isn't very low carb-friendly! So make sure you have plenty of foods to hand at home, and that you know what you're going to eat when you're out and about. It's a clichéd saying, but it's all too true here - failure to plan is planning to fail

Go and have a read of the recipe threads that are linked to in the Bootcamp topic - they're sorted by protein type, as well as being vegetarian and also a dessert thread.

Please can someone add me?

I think I’m going to find eating fats so hard mentally - I grew up with rosemary Conley telling me that we’re work of the devil! As such I eat no butter or oil or cream and I haven’t had any cheese for about ten years!

Am also going to struggle without artificial sweeteners.

But I know I need to change and would welcome the support.

@Stiffasaboard - it all seems so counter-intuitive when you first start. I remember tucking into bacon and eggs for breakfast in my first week and DH saying to me 'you're never going to lose weight if you eat that!' But he was wrong.

When we post the spreadsheet, which will be in the OP of the first chat thread on Monday, have a look at the tabs on the bottom at all the resources there. You'll find lots of articles and videos linked there which will give you really important info and data about the science of low carbing. Once you understand that, it does really make it much easier to follow.

@MrsBertBibby thanks for letting me know! For some reason those posts keep losing their stickies - I'm forever having to ask MMHQ to re-sticky them. No idea why that happens.

I think I'm about 2 stone overweight, and I'm hoping this will work for me as I can't stand being hungry - tried 5:2 and it just made me miserable and obsessed with food.

I trained as an actor and have just got my first post-kids paid gig - a touring production that I've just started rehearsals for. I'd very much like to not be the fat lass in the cast!

Also, can I ask a couple of questions - is courgetti ok as a pasta substitute? Wasn't sure if it counted as a high carb veg.

And I know I can't have sushi because of the rice, but I'm guessing sashimi is ok? Do I need to give the soy sauce a miss?

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal Courgette is a perfect low carb veg - not sure why you thought it would be high carb? And it's a great substitute for pasta.

Sashimi would be ok but you do need to watch the soy sauce as it can be quite carby - it very much depends on the brand. Kikkoman's is 3.2g carbs per 100ml, but Sainsbury's light soy is 20.6g for the same amount!

@Fuzzyend - why OMAD? In the first two weeks of Bootcamp you're supposed to have three meals a day.

@RainbowHash no artificial sweeteners I'm afraid! There are two reasons for this - first, we're trying to eat food that's as unprocessed and as natural as possible. And second, we're also trying to break the hold that sweet things have over us.

Rainbow I found last time that anything sweet became undrinkable after a while : I could only really drink even very dry white wine with soda in it. If you stick at it you might find gin and soda much nicer.
