Low Carb Bootcamp - the end of the line!

Morning all.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness, waiting for the results from your Scales of Truth!

Hopefully the final weigh-in is a good one for you all.

Although this is the end of this Bootcamp, it's not the end of the chat - so not the end of support, advice and general chit chattery!

So don't despair if you haven't reached your target. Keep going and reporting in here. The Big Stick will be rested in the cupboard for a while, but you can keep checking in here.

It is ridiculous the amount of bloating that comes with carbs.

cherries don’t answer if you don’t want, but did you have any triggers with calorie counting? I know that’s an area that concerned you with respect to going back to old ways and I also know how hard you worked to overcome that conditioning.

I was never a calorie counter but am sure I absorbed a huge amount through cultural osmosis. Almost impossible not to!

Also, when are we going to see your new tits? Grin

ilovecherries · 11/04/2019 18:52

New tits Grin. Still quite swollen so should get smaller yet.

I was ok initially with the calorie counting, but towards the end I was getting very twitchy and lots of old language about good/bad; can’t eat that/ I deserve this/ one won’t hurt etc started to creep back in - plus I started to feel hungry again.

Tits on Demand, fabulous! Looking good and obviously you’re pleased. I’m sorry it’s such a tough recovery though. Wishing you well.

Interesting about the calorie thing. Sounds like you handled it well, and I’m glad it reinforced for you that this WOE is best and lifelong, in the sense that you’ve now found what works for you.

I’m very anti the good/bad “treat” “naughty” mentality as well. I can’t beat it and hate it if I catch myself using that language, especially with my children. It’s all just food that has certain nutritional value and flavour, so I don’t want to demonise any of it.

Weirdly, I worry that I’ll become a “bread is bad” person when I talk about low carbing, but that’s not my message. Low carbing and avoiding bread, pasta, rice, etc, is the way to go for weight loss But. Don’t think there anything wrong with having those foods, minimally, as part of a healthy diet for people at healthy weights.

I’d still advocate getting carbs from vegetables before starchy foods, but sometimes, just sometimes, a girl’s gotta have a pizza! And that’s fine for healthy people. I’m obese, so I’m not yet healthy. And my boobs are too big. Grin

m0therofdragons · 11/04/2019 19:22

Looking good @ilovecherries

I plan my meals every day or I end up being disorganised and my default of bread comes in. By planning, I put my meals on mfp and find that without effort I actually eat about 1200 calories (I'm quite short). I have a dark chocolate kitkat occasionally now too, which is better than a whole nut Cadbury more to share bar to myself! Does anyone actually share those things?

ilovecherries · 11/04/2019 19:38

36 hours and 8lbs between the top and bottom picture. I’m still not tiny, but surgeon said he had been as radical as he could be without compromising blood and nerve supply. I was a 32K before, and I’m currently measuring a 32FF at night, probably a bit less in the morning (although no way could I wear an actual bra yet, I’m VERY attached to my surgical compression bras). I’ve still got hopes of an E cup, but I’m not sure if that’s realistic. But I feel and look so much better.

Doilooklikeatourist · 11/04/2019 20:43

Nice new boobs ilovecherries good arms too 👍

Trying the planks here too , still rubbish at them , but getting better , also doing stomach crunches , and have gone from 3 ( and wanting to cry ) to 10 at a time , and going up a bit a day ( only because a friend has just returned from a holiday and said how she managed to stand up and paddle board , and I want to do that too )

Had a mad busy day at work , so we went out for dinner , had tandoori chicken , salad and saag aloo , very nice ( no skin though ) didn’t miss rice and naan bread , but did have a nibble of crispy poppadom
DH wolfed down a lovely looking biryani

shagme I’m with you on the not wanting bread to be bad , I love bread , and bake bread every day at work , I’d rather have half a slice with some nice butter and cheese than none at all ... it’s just knowing when to stop , learning to take the starchy carbs in moderation

venusandmars · 11/04/2019 21:30

In contrast to NSV, I have a NSC (a non-scale consequence). Friend came today with a bag of vegetable crisps - parsnip crisps, beetroot crisps, sweet potato crisps... (she wanted to show me that she did actually eat vegetables!) The carb content wasn't massive so I though I could risk a few.

NSC is fart, fart, fart Blush I'd forgotten the whole world of walking and farting.

Won't be tempted by those crisps again.

tootstastic · 11/04/2019 21:48

Sorry @ShagMeRiggins I'm too shy for a pic, but my 'before' was a long, straight bob and I asked for something in between these two...

I've just looked back through my mfp weight progress (which shows great steady losses from the summer boot camp and this last one but compared to my 4 weeks at slimming world (was desperate and lost in February 2017). With SW I lost for 2 weeks then put on 7lbs (and hated it for so many reasons). I'm so much happier and in control with this woe.

ShagMeRiggins · 12/04/2019 03:32

toots, sexy sexy cuts! How are you getting on with styling them, looks like it might be a bit of work? (But I’m lazy with styling...£

Siameasy · 12/04/2019 07:32

M0therofdragons SW is coming in for quite a lot of stick nowadays and with all these calorie counting ones people always seem to be “cheating”, falling off the wagon, having a “treat” or buying fake food (sweeteners). I dont mean once a month I mean sometimes daily. To me it’s a half measure and would set me back on the road to binge eating. I find focussing on carbs a lot easier. I truly don’t fancy a lot of the forbidden foods any more.

m0therofdragons · 12/04/2019 07:46

@Siameasy I think sw is good for some people, especially when they have lots to lose but it didn't fit with my eating style and I didn't like to people at the group - mostly talking about Iceland ready meals.

1Wildheartsease · 12/04/2019 07:56

Lovely haircuts toots. Yes Siameasy - it is the relief from desperately desiring forbidden foods that is so great on this WOE.

I was moaning about a stall (have been stuck at the same weight...or sometimes higher...for some weeks despite also sticking to my plan) but have suddenly had a whoosh :) (Must moan more often.)

I suppose my mountain climb muscles were a little tender after my expedition and might have been holding water? Anyway I'm now at a lower weight than I've seen on the scales since 2012.

Just got 'Low Carb Revolution Comfort Eating' Annie Bell. The recipes look really appealing.

tootstastic · 12/04/2019 09:53

Thanks @ShagMeRiggins, I'm pleased with it, but haven't tried styling it yet.

Thanks @1Wildheartsease and well done on the whoosh.

I did SW years ago and I felt the diet encouraged my binging tendencies, so never even considered trying it this time around.

I'm off work now until the 29th. Yay!
I'm gymming this morning; Bodypump followed by Bodybalance, then have a spa day tom for a friend's birthday and off to a cottage holiday for a week in sunny Yorkshire. Fingers crossed for decent wi-fi!

m0therofdragons · 12/04/2019 10:34

I have work until 5pm and then 1.5weeks off. I so need it but being home could massively throw me food wise. I'm trying to stay on plan. I'm now a healthy weight but top end so want to get under 10st. Currently 10s 7lbs as of today.

1Wildheartsease · 12/04/2019 11:46

Well done mOtherofdragons!

Seeing food as treat or syn and counting all the time does bring out the binge-er in me too tootastic.

I am still amazed that this WOE hasn't done that.
Losing that feeling that I must eat and must eat, is like losing a kind of tinitus!

StuntNun · 12/04/2019 14:43

Good to have you back Cherries. I'm a size 32FF too, we can be bra twins! Grin

Notlostjustexploring · 12/04/2019 17:44

Thanks for the tips for quick and dirty meals. I'm usually quite good at having a well stocked freezer, but at the moment it seems to just contain beige foid as I ate all the stews and curries I had previously stashed. I bought myself a broccoli and Stilton soup (keep forgetting soups can be low carb), and strangely, it seems to have kick started the right frame of mind. I made some eggy asparagus muffins and cooked some chicken legs in butter and paprika. Had many veg roasted with sausages and halloumi last night for dinner. A NSV already, eating properly seems to have kicked my bad case of the munchies to the kerb.

SummerSazz · 12/04/2019 18:37

Fingers crossed @ilovecherries for a speedy full recovery and 'normal' bra shopping

I'm back from a week away and other than a couple of nights of alcohol and rather too many peanuts I did ok. Swam (Almost) every day, one 8k run and some walks. Scales of truth tomorrow which will show a gain but hopefully a manageable one. Will try a run and a swim this weekend and back to work on mon when I find it easier. Especially the water - that has def been reduced over the holidays

Welcome back to the lurkers - I have participated and lurked in these threads for over two years and whilst I may not always follow low carb all the time it is always there in the back of my mind to remind me of the choices I'm making (freely) when I have carbs

Notlostjustexploring · 12/04/2019 21:13

Inspired by the tuna and olive suggestion, I mixed up some tuna, jalepenos and cheese, and fried until crispy. It looks kinda awful, but tastes amazing and is scratching a toasty itch. I can recommend and wanted to share!

m0therofdragons · 12/04/2019 22:52

Is anyone else wishing the year away, as in "I wish 2 weeks magically passed and I was 4lb lighter!"?

I'm so impatient and really shouldn't be. The more I lose the more I want to lose. Not in an unhealthy way as I definitely have spare fat to shed. I'm with my parents over the weekend with dc and dm has listened to the fact in eating lchf and sort of gets it. She usually makes my favourite sticky toffee pudding which I can't resist. This time she's making meringue, cream and berries. I mean, yes it's sugar but she's really trying to be supportive. I'm having 3 meals there so am planning angelic eating around it. Still hoping for a loss but may not get the 2lbs a week I've been getting.

No park run tomorrow so a few of us are planning to do the route anyway followed by a carb filled afternoon tea... oh god, I'm not losing this weekend am I Confused

Siameasy · 12/04/2019 23:39

I get what you mean M0ther and actually the progress has been beyond what I thought it would be so it does pay to set lofty goals! I never thought I would be in the 9s, it seemed too unrealistic. Last summer I was headed for the 12s. That dessert sounds a beauty!

I was just singing the praises of this WOE to DH. I can’t believe that crisp addict carb addict me could not give a toss anymore about crisps, potatoes, root veg, bread, pasta, rice, soft drinks, legumes, beans, sweets, fruit, juice, booze, corn....I mean that’s amazing isn’t it?

However I have two devils..chocolate and chips. Luckily chips is only if I smell them but chocolate I think about a LOT

SummerSazz · 13/04/2019 09:42

Post holiday scales report a +2 which I'm very happy with given some alcohol & peanut excess, limited exercise compared to usual, crap water intake and a smattering of smarties mini choc orange eggs Blush

Aiming to be back on it today with water a key focus as all the rest seems to follow from that being as it should be

m0therofdragons · 13/04/2019 10:44

When does summer boot camp start? I'm hoping I won't need it other than maintenance but maybe for those final few lbs.

1stMrsF · 13/04/2019 15:21

I'm claiming today's weigh in for Monday as we are going away for a few days tomorrow morning so won't be able to weigh until we get back, and today's weight also represents two stones total lost since start of BC in JanGrin Got a pedicure this morning as a non food treat to celebrate.

Trip away includes a Greek meze and an Italian restaurant that only serves pizza and pasta so I'm having a planned deviation for a few meals.
