Morning Campers Flowers

As ever, here's the spreadsheet for all your confessions

Some interesting conversations last week, as well as some encouraging losses and NSVs. Glosses over all talk of poppadoms

I'm so pleased it's working so well for so many of you, but more particularly how well this WOE seems to be working in its broader, longer term sense. That's actually the critical thing for the future - finding a way to incorporate the low carb principles into how you eat for the rest of your life, while still having a life!

A difficult couple of days for me, as I'm off to Paris with work, so my meals are largely out of my control. Dinner at the hotel should be OK, but I have no idea what will happen at lunch time, as I'm stuck in a research facility, being catered for. And worse, Eurostar is on strike tomorrow, when I'm supposed to be coming home, so I have no idea if I'm in Paris for two or three days!!!!

Anyway, there are worse places to be stuck, I suppose Smile

Here's to a good week for us all - hope it's not too cold and windy wherever you are.

@venusandmars I am hoping I can follow this woe with a little allowance for carbs then occasional focus weeks like boot camp. Good to hear it's working for you!

Well done M0therofdragons, great to be in the green. Good for you for going for a run. Definitely make it a thing.

I’m in the green but I want leeway so whereas I can be up to 10st 6 I feel ideally I should be 9st 6ish. Below 9 I will be skeletony.

Hi please can I join? Thank you BIWI for all your information and support I’ve been reading!
I started low carb last Sunday as I’d plateaued on low calorie and felt like I was going to struggle so decided to change. I started at 9.4 and am now 9.3 but that has been since Tuesday. I would like to just see the 8s before I go on hols to give a bit of leeway. Before my last dc I was consistently on 9 but it went up to 10,4 after I stopped bf.
So this week has been great my only problem I think was with low carb. Cheats. My dh came home with low carb choc drops from Holland and barratt. They were so sweet I ended up guzzling quite a few and though net carbs were prob only 5g it felt like I’d lost control. Also low carb g and t.
Then I went to a friends for a meal on Friday I didn’t drink butallowed myself some proper carbs even though actually I could easily have left the major ones (spring rolls, prawn cracker and rice). Because I’d decided I’d join in I did, though not ott. Same yesterday the odd thing crept in, my dd had been baking little gingerbread men so I had one plus a small piece of cake at the work day I was at. so ostensibly due to social reasons, but really because I’d geared myself for it being inevitable when it actually wasn’t.
I really noticed when meal planning just how much veg and fish (pescatarian) and dairy we bought. As well as costing a fortune it’s made me realise it’s actually a really varied diet albeit with a decent amount of fat. A dieter friend was a bit ooooo what about cholesterol but i said to be honest I would have had this fat before easily just on top of carbs or just us the carbs instead!
So back to being on it today! Just need to plan meals so I never feel stuck for ideas.

However, today the sun is shining , so we’re planning on a long walk and lots of fresh air , and hope that will blow some sense into me

Sorry to hear you're struggling, @Doilooklikeatourist. It might help you to sit down and do some meal planning for the rest of the week, and also make sure you've removed all carby stuff so you're not tempted.

I glimpsed goal weight for the first time since November to morning! I'm really hoping it's not wine dehydration from last night.

Yay @BrassicaBabe fabulous news!

I went to buy running leggings with a pocket for my phone but found even the black size 14s showed my black knickers through them. Stupid sports direct has left me feeling fat and horrible. Even at my biggest I was a size 14 so how can I lose a stone and be a size 16 at 10st 9? Angry

Trying to resist cake binge (helped by having no cake in the house!).

@m0therofdragons well done 👏. A great achievement and you too @BrassicaBabe.

I was 0.1 of a lb off getting under 11 stone yesterday morning which should take me into normal weight. But we had friends over and I had beer and wine. No real food carbs but was +3 this morning. Grrrrrrr. Hoping to try and knock that back off pdq and try and see the 10's on the scales at some point this week 🤞

@1stMrsF I just request a salad instead of a sandwich at all work meetings which have lunch involved. I've never had anyone say no and not just internally but if I visit clients and they say they'll get lunch in - my P.A. is brilliant at it Grin. It helps that I say chicken, egg, tuna etc all fine so not fussy.

@m0therofdragons I buy mine from SD but always buy Nike ones. Good coverage and last really well. I have both small and medium which fit v well at 11 stone. You are def not a 16 unless 4ft nothing Grin

Report
m0therofdragons · 17/03/2019 16:12

@SummerSazz I'm 5foot 5. Nike ones didn't seem to have a phone pocket. Plus no staff to help find shoes. Gave up and came home grumpy.

I'm helping backstage at dc dance show tonight so will do my best to avoid all the sweets! It'll be a challenge!

I have a very thin waterproof gilet I put my phone in @m0therofdragons - I can wear it over a T-shirt or my running jacket. Would that work?

@m0therofdragons I second Summer unless you are short enough to walk under a chair you aren't a size 16!

I bought one of these yesterday. Have had a chance to try it out yet though

@m0ther I have some running leggings with a pocket in the leg, on the thigh. They were from decathlon. I tried one of the arm straps for my phone but couldn’t get on with it

I bought some decent leggings from Asda
My Sil saw some nice ones in Matalan and I got some really gorgeous ones in H and M. H and M do come up small. Asda tho come up big.

I despair of Sports Direct. I’m not paying £40 to be see thru with a camels toe

M0ther you are similar to me

You have been the victim of confusing sizing. Take heart that you probably tried on an old fashioned 14 which isn’t even that big (31-32 waist)

I am 5’4” and started the year on 10.9.
I am a true 14 at 10.9. I know this because when I bought my wedding dress I was 10.9 32 waist and I bought a 14 dress. They were all apologetic (!) but I said no the dress is a true size 14 before the sizes were de standardised some years ago and I need to lose a few lbs as I was outside my BMI at that point

I’m now 10st ish and a true 12 but if I went into say M and S I’d be an 8. Which is silly! If I bought from ASOS I’d buy a 12 as I’ve a 29-30 waist which was always a 12.

Look at the sizing charts on ASOS, it made me feel better. You used to be able to pick up eg a 12 (I was always a 12 in the 90s) anywhere and know it would fit. In shops I have to take 8 10 and 12 in to try🙄

It's odd how my body reacts these days. Yesterday I pinched half a chocolate cookie with no ill effects. Today we've been out for dinner. I've had a glass of rose (never do this but I know their white is shit) and I've eaten about a tablespoon of burger relish. I'm gassed up, painful tummy and needing the loo. I'm guessing it's the sugar Hmm

Siameasy · 17/03/2019 20:58

Hmmm I didn’t realise sugar could do that Brassica but I suppose we have detoxed
DD had her birthday recently and I made her a cake. It did look and smell amazing. I’m not bad at baking and it was butter icing😭

I did taste the butter icing to test it. It did taste nice but I also knew it “wasn’t for me” iyswim. Cue me burping and belching and feeling twisted inside...so I eschewed the cake which was hard but hey ho
